Free - $10 eGift Card When You Sign up @ David Jones Rewards

4140
Edit - Rewards program now live.

I saw this post in the Markdown Addict Facebook group -

I also would like to let you know some information about DJs. When I shopped this morning, the staff told me that they will have the new loyalty program for the next 2 weeks and they will send the $10 egift card to your email if you register your email on the website or you can do this in stores. If you not, you can do this now so you will not miss out the free $10 egift card…

I've confirmed with David Jones online chat the new loyalty program will launch on 15 July 2019. I also confirmed this in-store about 30 minutes ago when I visited to enquire and sign up.

I was advised that after you've signed up, you will get a $10 egift card sent to you when the loyalty program launches. The egift card will need to be used within 30 days of receipt. If you provide your date of birth when you sign up, you'll get a $10 egift card to use for your birthday each year.

I was further advised that each time you shop and show your membership, you'll go into a draw for a chance to win $5000 each month.

  • Signed up 24th July and received voucher today 31st July. :-)

  • I just received a bday $10 voucher but still waiting for the $10 rewards sign up bonus.

    • Did you get on the bday?

  • Still waiting for my welcome $10. Have been on the chat a couple of times, all they’ve said is to make sure marketing boxes are ticked in account, and now I’ve received an email from their team saying hopefully it will arrive in 72hrs as it is being re-sent.
It’s my birthday in August so fingers crossed I’ll be lucky enough to get the birthday voucher too!!

    • same with me. Just signed up today. Let's see if I get both vouchers.

  • Finally got my email with my $10 voucher. Got until Aug 16 to use it.

    • Did they send it to you on July 16? If not, that’s not 30 days expiry …

      • +1

I just went through my emails and found the first one on July 18. Must have missed the email that day!

      • +1

To welcome you as a member, we’d like to offer you a $10 reward to use instore or online within 7 days.

Shouldn't be a problem but changing it to only 7 days is pretty weak.

  • Is it possible to stack two of these codes in store?

  • +2

I received only email yesterday says "enjoy your first David Jones Rewards offers", but no gift card in there, it shows virtual card and number on the bottom.

    • +1

I got this yesterday too on another e-mail address, but my main e-mail that did get the $10 eGift Card didn't get the offers

      • Following up on this: I signed in to the online store using the account (my main one) that received the eGift Card and the offers are there.

Guess I have to check the second e-mail address for the offers and see if I get them in my main account …

  • I just used mine to buy the Loft Google Home battery from Perth CBD for $17.

Difficult to use click and collect.

Most items are not on the same place therefore you need to buy separate transactions.

  • +2

Used 2 of the family's $10 welcome vouchers buying reduced price chocolates.

Vouchers from 2 accounts were valid on 1 $23 purchase on 1 account, reducing price to $3!! Didn't expect that to work!

Bought 3 x $23/250g pack ($92/kg!!) selections of fancy Fardoulis chocolates - negotiated down to $23 (use by Aug & Sept) = $1/pack, after using the 2x $10 DJs vouchers. Could have bought 4 packs of the ones expiring this month for same price.

A very tasty deal! We've almost eaten them all.

  • I also used 2 and paid 0 dollars for my items

  • do i just create an account and that's it?

    • And follow up numerous times

    • Yes just use a valid email address, then have a birthday soon for a second voucher, you need to login to enter the birthday, only the email needs to be valid.

And wait a random number of days for them to appear.

      • I need mine by 6pm tonight…

  • Still waiting. Do we think a human issues these or a machine?

  • Human

    • a slow human maybe…

  • Okay, so how do I find something inexpensive to use my voucher on? The DJ search page doesn't offer a filter by price feature.

    • +3

If you go to a store with food hall there is lots.

  • I read somewhere that in store they only accept 22 gift cards. Is that correct. Where are the terms for that?

    • +2

22's a oddly specific number. Didn't hear of any such rule when I worked there. You can use as many as you want in store

  • Tried more than 20 items and all of them not available for delivery and not in stock in Melbourne CBD store.

    • +1

I have tried more than 50 items. Not even a single item is available. It shows everything as out of stock. I think their e-commerce system is broken. Absolutely Stupid website.

      • +1

Similar, tried click and collect, cannot find an item that's actually in stock near me. Horrible layout of website for click and collect.

  • +1

I recieved my voucher… but only in the form of a reminder telling me it needed to be used by the following day. My partner received hers at 10pm, with 2 hours left to use it. Spoke to David Jones customer service who said something should've been sent out with the initial voucher almost a month ago. They are checking if that actually happened. As there was nothing other than a welcome to David Jones email and the reminder sent…

    • +3

exactly my situation. how bad is that.
any chance they could extend the $10- voucher for the mishap ?

      • will let you know when i hear back about my partners card (re extension or resending)

    • +1

      Same here

    • +1

Same thing happened to me. No initial welcome email with the egift card, just a reminder email that arrived on the day it expired!
Luckily I was able to use it to buy an egift card on the David Jones website, which expires in 2022.

      • +1

Sorry to tell you that if u buy an egift card with the Rewards card(s), the new egift card will be deleted within 24 hours.
u can check ur balance here
        https://www.davidjones.com/david-jones-cards/gift-card-balan…

        • Did this happen to you?

          • @kerfuffle: (>_<) !

is there an end date for this program?

            • @samelight: No idea; I don't think so as it just launched. All I can tell you is that it was years in the planning (but unlike MyerOne, it still sucks as you can't earn points)

        • What about a physical gift card in store?

  • +2

For anyone doing click and collect, ignore what it says in the product page and add it to the cart, then go-to the cart and check for store stock. It works there

    • I tried last night and not a single product that I select is avail in the store. And my voucher has expired now. Wish I knew the hacks before

  • is it too late to join now ?

    • I registered on the 15/8, and didn't receive the bonus.

      • have u tried to contact them and ask why?

  • Has anyone got their rewards gift card back if they cancelled your order? Placed a $9 order that was meant to be in stock for pickup but they couldn't fulfill it and cancelled it and its been a few days but still see no refund back.

    • ya me, u won't get the refund, at least not any time soon.
it would be much easier to just make an new account with fake info, as long as ur email address is valid u will get another voucher.

    • I'd wait a few days to see if it turns up in the post … I think their return system is pretty archaic in that sense.

    • +2

I had to cancel mine as accidentally selected a pick up location in a different state. They ended up sending me a new egiftcard…. that expires in 2022! HA!

  • +2

PRO BARGAINER TIP - When you get your birthday / welcome voucher .. Just use it to buy a normal gift voucher with longer expiry. Just used mine this way.

    • 24hours after u received the "normal gift voucher",
      check the balance again…
      https://www.davidjones.com/david-jones-cards/gift-card-balan…

let me know if u don't get the error msg~~

      • use it to buy gift card asap.

      • Worked fine.

        Balance $10 Expiry 2022

        • how u did it ? sent to the same email address or to someone else?
coz the Terms & Conditions saids that
9.David Jones Rewards are not redeemable for cash or any other like instruments, including but not limited to, gift vouchers, gift cards, cheques and credit notes.

          • @samelight: It’s a promo gift card; not sure how they can distinguish those issued by the Rewards program from the other promo gift cards they offer to customers and nix the new gift card, unless there’s something they use in the backend (they use the Givex system to manage gift cards).

I’ve extended promo gift cards, both as a staff member and a customer, without issue before

            • @kerfuffle: They can distinguish, had them decline me for this reason.

            • @kerfuffle: they can tell from the card numbers,
welcome and bday gift card start with 601263(3) and other promo gift cards 601263(8).
              Don't ask me how i know……

  • I signed up with a yahoo and then a hotmail email address and waited a week or two each time but didn’t receive a voucher so I tried signing up with my work email address yesterday morning and received the $10 welcome voucher at lunchtime

    • They send vouchers the day after signing up.

  • Did not get any gift cards..

  • +1

    Bough in-store: $40 sleep pants 50% off & paid by 2 $10 e-vouchers on 2 accounts. Free clothes again!

2 Staff suggested using both accounts, so can combine vouchers in-store.

  • Is this still running? I signed up a few days ago and never recieved a gift card. Got the confirmation of signing up though.

    • +1

It says on their faq page that you get a welcome reward. I think it’s hit or miss if you get a voucher. I signed up with my yahoo and Hotmail accounts received a confirmation email but didn’t get the voucher. I then tried signing up with my work email and got the voucher within a few hours

    • +2

I think you need to use a non free email address to receive the voucher.
Otherwise it is too easy to abuse the freebie.

      • I use Yahoo…

      • I have signed up with 3 free emails and received the voucher. But that was a few months back so maybe it changed.
