  • Anyone having problems with their porting? Its been 24 hours and they still haven't ported my number.

    • @Koipanda - My recent porting to Catch happened on same day for different network. The next day if it is Optus.

      • Im trying to port from Kogan :( Its taking very long

        • Just ported from Kogan last week. Activated on Sunday night around 8pm. Number was successfully ported by 11 the next morning.

        • +3

@Koipanda - Give it another day. I presume that when you login to your CC account, it should show porting/activation in progress. If this is not the case, then contact CC.

I would also try to port between Tuesday to Friday and avoid weekends and Monday. It has worked well for me.

          • @F1ngolf: @F1ngolfIt says activation in process. Should i be having the catch sim card in my sim slot while they activate it or will it be fine if i continue using my current one?

@Omkar2 i activated it yesterday morning.

            • @Koipanda: Well, apparently my activation was " paused and the porting/activation has not progressed ". What a waste of time. Hopefully they can process it ASAP.

              • @Koipanda: Remember if u port from kogan. You need to reply to the sms they send u. Otherwise they wont release your number

              • @Koipanda: Same thing happened to me on a brand new service with catch (new number) took like a couple of days to finally activate.

            • @Koipanda: @Koipanda - You may want to jump on CC live chat to ask them to confirm that the porting is still in progress and not some issues like wrong details which cause the porting delay.

        • I also ported from Kogan to Catch (I assume a lot of us will be, as it lines up with the 1 year Kogan deal from last year) and mine was done almost instantly? Didnt get a message from Kogan either, just set it all up via the Catch dashboard and get a message from Catch within 10 mins saying port successful

    • I ported from kogan to catch in the previous deal. If you port in the weekend, it will be completed on Monday, it happened to me also

    • Call them. It will be quickly connected.

  • Which network do Catch use? Anyone that has ordered before can comment on how long they take to deliver a sim, assuming its not 1000 days that kogan takes?

    • +3

      Optus network

    • +1

i received mine within the week. They use optus network

      • +1

Thanks & ordered, my Kogan 90 day sim expires 9 Spet so will lost a few days but ultimately I would have paid less then $10 for 6 months mobile.

  • +4

Is there a limit of 1 cashback per ShopBack account for this one?

  • +1

How long (normally) do I get their SIM card if order today?

    • +1

Took about a week for mine to come

  • +5

New Catch Connect customers = New Email account with Catch Connect.

  • Sim arrived in a few days. When I ported from Telstra to Catch Connect a month ago, it took over a week to port, apparently problems at the Optus End. Planning to port back to Telstra via JB anyway.

    • Shit thats no good. I can't wait a week :(

      • You may not have my experience. It's probably not the normal. But it is what I experienced. Unfortunately for me ended up not porting out with Telstra until after my contract expired, which I was trying to avoid.

        • Mine ported from Kogan within 24 hours

  • Can u get multiple cash backs with same shopback account?

  • early this month, i had issues when i did Catch Connect (abbrev CC) to Telstra to CC again.

the issue was: i had a Telstra account. the Telstra to CC port failed becos i had to provide my Telstra account number, which i had never encountered this requirement. Took me 3 days + no phone service + plenty of pestering with the CC Live Chat.

not sure if i would recommend anyone to do the CC to Telstra free prepaid sim and back to CC again though.

    • as in you were Telstra postpaid and wanted to go to CC then to Telstra prepaid?

    • why would they ask you for your Telstra Account Number if you're only Prepaid? so how did you overcome the question? because Prepaid doesn't have any Account Number; they should know this better.

      • +1

i have always been a prepaid mobile user. i have a Telstra pre-paid account that tracks my port-in, that account has an account number. to port out from Telstra, that account number needs to be provided. this is the first time i have had my port-out failed on me.

i had to provide the account number to CC and raise a service request. Took 3 days to resolve.

btw Cleo (CC live chat, 2-8pm) is quite clueless. There's another username at CC livechat who is more technically minded to resolve such issues.

        • i have a Telstra pre-paid account that tracks my port-in, that account has an account number.

i assume you're one of the kind as in you're quite special in your circumstances.

  • How long does shopback take to give the cash back?

What happens if I port away before the cash back arrives?

  • If Kogan match this deal, I will get it.

  • Does anyone know a good long term SIM plan? I’m moving overseas but want to keep number so want credit validity for 12 months ideally.

    • +5

Amaysim credit validity is 365 days.
For me, Amaysim is the best for retaining a mobile number which you don't use regularly.

There is an Amaysim/Groupon deal now which you can consider. (4x 28-Day amaysim Renewals of 5GB Unlimited Plan $6.76 @ Groupon (Stack with 15% Cashback @ ShopBack) https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/473561

You can use the Amaysim referral link to activate/port your existing mobile number you want to retain your mobile number and get $10 credit valid for 365 days. Technically, you paid $6.76 or $5.75 (after cashback), gets $10 Amaysim credit and retains your mobile number for 365 days. Does this work for you?

      • Thanks for this comprehensive information. Will already be an Amaysim customer on 28 day deal. Is there a way to move over to 365 day plan?

        • +1

turn off the auto recharge after the 28days deal last renewal, it will automatically move to the payg plan and last for 365 days after the credit expires.

    • +1

You can't pass this Boost deal

  • Anyone know how long this deal is on for? My Telstra plan finishes 29th August so need to hold off a few extra days.

    • +2

I would just buy this, activate and port on 29 Aug end of day. If everything is in proper order, your Telstra number would be ported on 30 Aug.

      • +1

Got down voted for trying to be helpful! Whoever does this should have the courtesy to explain why the down vote unless this person works for Telstra.

  • +2

Anyone only got $5 cashback? My account shows that I only have $5 pending of cashback from catch connect. I purchased the 54GB 90 day plan.

    • +1

      Hey techfourk,

We're fixing this now and you'll have the $12 showing in your account soon.

      Thanks

      • Hi rep, can you advise when this deal expires? My existing plan expires in mid-September so I would like to squeeze a few more days if possible. Thanks!

      • Hi Rep, please provide an update once the issue is resolved. Some are seeing $5…while Im still seeing that my transaction is being tracked. Should it take this long to show up?

        • It's been fixed, I purchased at about 3.30pm and got tracking email at 3.55pm showing $12.

          • @adr8: Not for me. I dont have an email nor is it showing in my pending cash backs. It does show in my cluck history though.

      • @gotyourback - Just bought mine and it's saying $5 as a Cashback?

      • Are you kidding or cheating to all OP here? I got one at shopback, but unbelievable shopback.come.au does note tracked my shopping at its cashback activity. Then, i followeds all steps for a complaint of the issue based on ID order 1214176 which was bought on 2/8/2019 BUT no action from the page. After that 2 days, It is automaticallly updated the cashback is only $0.75 instead of $12 as its advertisement should be. Please have a sirious correction for the problem.

        • Exactly the same issue for me.. $0.75

          • @Gbickle: I have a serious complaint via shopback regarding this issue + attached with PDF file of purchasing proof. It has been resolved already today by toping up the differency amount of cashback.

      • Hi rep, could you please tell me when is this deal back?

  • +1

my cashback just tracked but only got $5, anyone else had theirs?

    • Same issue here…

    • That's strange - perhaps the rep can help.
      He's usually pretty good

      • Same here $5

    • +2

      Hey ellave,

We're fixing this now. Thanks for flagging the issue

      • +3

i'll get it once you fixed the issue @gotyourback

      • Hi @gotyourback, same issue here. When I clicked the link to purchase the SIM card your website said $12 cashback. However right after purchasing I received an email saying only $5 cashback and now the website only shows $5 cashback. Did you literally just change the promotion right when I was making the purchase, or is this a system issue?

      • Hi rep, could you please tell me when is this deal back?

    • Same here $5

  • +4

    Buy this and refer yourself
    DiDi
    Uber
    Uber Eats
    etc

  • Yep same here only 5 bucks cashback.

  • Legend, thanks OP. This couldn't have come at a better time!

  • How many Sims can someone use before it's an issue.. I'm only using this as a second data Sim, it's easier to buy a new one rather than porting out then back in… But how many times can I keep registering new Sims?

  • this CatchConnect and out of stock Telstra 365 $200 doing my head in.

    • Same here. Just thinking about whether to get both deals. And activate telstra after 3 months

      • if we get Telstra SIM that doesn't expire earlier than November 2019.

        • Others have got validity til April 2021. They are now restocking, so I guess they will have same or better validity than April 2021

          • @jsb: yeah .. i'm now so tempted to just get this one and port out after 3 months … what's your thoughts? if you do it, i'll do it.

            • @tempura: I will be getting this one for sure. But, don't know about telstra one after 3 months. havn't decided that.
We can always port to kogan or some other offer at that time and end up getting much better offer than telstra

              • @jsb: i was seriously considering to stop sim whoring and was going to settle on Telstra 365, only to find that they're out of stock. i think i'm in that state that i have enough jumping around and time to settle down.

                • @tempura: When's the wedding?

                  • @Reveen: seriously considering not to now; are you single ?

  • so its $15 bucks to buy the sim card, then $12 cash back which leaves you paying $3? Is that correct?

    • Well yeah 😅

    • that's the idea

      • doesn't hurt to double check lol. Cause it seems to good to be true. But then what happens after 90 days? Will it charge like 89 bucks or whatever it is

        • +1

Yes, make sure to deactivate automatic renewal after you’ve activated your sim and account. Then hop on to the next cheap deal with a different provider.

        • It's legit.

Providers like catchconnect, amaysim and ovo used to throw money to us. In last summer I made 70$ just from their cashbacks. Unfortunately, this kind of promotion has stopped.

  • Just grabbed one…to my understanding so far, the porting doesn't occur until you get the sim card, and you advise them that you want to port a number over… is that correct?

    • +1

yes, the activation and porting won't happen until you physically get the sim card.

  • +2

what's their definition of "Must be a new Catch Connect customer to receive cashback" ?

    CatchConnect > Kogan > CatchConnect

    new or existing customer?

    • I want to know this too

I already have 2 services with them but want to get a 3rd services with a new number, is that a new customer??

    • +1

just create a new account at catch connect with new email address or just use gmail trick of adding '+' like [email protected] (is same as [email protected]).
In short, if you have already tried catch connect before, do not use the same email address for this one.

      • got it

  • +1

I am with Catch Connect. For some reason I have been able to watch AFL in the app for free since I joined. Go figure.

  • My Telstra JB contract ends in 10 days…hopefully can get this all sorted before then… Will Telstra charge me a whole month if i roll out a day or 2 after? :/

    • You will be charged pro rata

  • Anyone have past experience trying to port out from Catch to JB (Telstra)?

Porting from Telstra to Catch was fine. Took all of 5 minutes for the process to finish. This was last week.

Trying to port from Catch to JB (Telstra) there was an error that DOB doesn't match.
