QANTASSTAFF

A pretty cracking deal on the new WF-1000XM3's ! Cheapest so far if you have the points laying around.

I already own a pair of these from JB and they are great !

Choice review here : https://www.choice.com.au/electronics-and-technology/home-en…

The ever popular WH-1000XM3 are on sale also but not the best deal around. https://www.qantasstore.com.au/p/sony-wh-1000xm3b-flagship-w…

Edit: 10% code added thanks to JASP.

  • Very disappointed with qantas that they don’t even to offer to pay the difference

    • +2

i think the real reason is because they were overwhelmed with orders - much more than the supplier could fulfil.

If they had stock then they would not cancel. The invalid code gives them an excuse to cancel. So allowing you to pay the difference was/is never an option.

Would be interested to know if anyone who didn’t use the code got their orders. Wouldn’t be surprised if they got a “no stock” cancellation.

      • +1

This sounds like the most plausible reason.

They basically got ozbargained and couldn’t get enough stock to fulfil all the orders.

      • If this is the real reason, the qantas store is not a very good system IMO. Allowing overorder for few dozens but couldn't fulfil. Order cancelled, unhappy customers.

      • I mentioned this point a week ago, however I think they should still have stock for those without code.

      • Didn't use the code. order still in progress. Hopefully now the shipping date moves up from the 26th :D

All the people that couldnt even wait because Qantas was holding on to your 250 dollars?

What the hell people! It is only that much and you did not have any other headphones to use in the meantime?

    • +3

and all the people called Qantas and asked for discount because they didn't put in the code

        I'm betting it's this.

  • JASP created an account to share the code and never could answer where it came from …

  • +5

Lucky I placed two orders… one with the promo code and one without. Happily received the one without.

    • You hedged your bets haha!

  • +9

I felt like a dummy when I found the code after I had already ordered. I guess my dumbness will pay off this time!

  • I think that it may be worth trying to contact Qantas to see if you can pay the difference. Surely it is worth a try…

    • +2

I did, being very irate about the matter.

They gave me the BS that both Qantas and Sony have decided to cancel the damn batch.

Obviously they dont have the stock, and thanks god for the promo code excuse to cancel the whole damn thing.

  • Ordered cancelled by Qantas this morning

  • Same cancelled. BS

  • anyone order not been cancelled? "edit" cancelled haha was in another folder

  • Cancellation came in lol. Oh well

  • +4

Called and spoke to QANTAS store - they're cancelling every order that used the code and won't be providing any option for people to pay the correct amount, obviously offered to pay the difference etc but they continually refused stating they won't be doing that / they can't place orders for items that aren't available any more blah blah blah.

Time to cut your losses people… it's what happens when we fly too close to the sun, lol

  • -1

yay phew - got the cancellation email too on an impulsive purchase!

  • My order is cancelled but points not refunded.

    • I got the cancellation email but my order status is still 'In Process' on the site and my points have not be refunded either. Seems to be in a weird limbo state at the moment.

      • Have you seen funds credited back to your credit card at least? My order was cancelled and I haven't seen either yet.

        • +1

I bought it just with points so didn't put any dollars in. Somewhat glad the order got cancelled cos it wasn't really worth buying this with points

          • @cozmicf: I received the cancellation email and I also paid with points so no loss. My Order is still showing 'in progress' though.

  • +2

Anyone know where we can find these at a good price?
I threw my over ear headphones on eBay already.

  • +1

Stup!d qantas. This is not good. They can do just that. Im moving my creditcard rewards points from FF to bank's own reward points.

    • I am thinking the same thing lol

  • +4

how can they hold payment for more than 1 week and cancel it. If it was 24 hours fine. But 1 week looks like that order should have been filled.

    • Agree about holding the money for so long and getting away with it. I'm sure they consulted legals before their bold move.

      1. Issued order confirmation; 2. Issued Tax Invoice after consideration paid, (if that's not good evidence of a contract, not sure what is); 3. Sent email advising delivery was delayed and would be delivered as soon as possible; 4. Purported to rescind the contract of sale 10 days after purchase because the "invalid vibe". Estopped, by the High Court of toobadwhatchagonnadoabouit
      • Are there any grounds to go to the ACCC for this you think?

        • ACCC will, in practicality, do nothing. There is a reporting mechanism via ACCC website. You will receive a proforma response referring you to the contact seller, your State Office of Fair Trading, Small Claims or the like. Perhaps if enough complaints are made about a particular seller that will cause closer scrutiny in the future. Unless you don't get a refund, no harm no foul sums up the toothless ACCC…

  • cancelled
    and get the money back

    • Already? I still haven't received any money or points back yet

      • I use my bank account, not credit card

  • +2

I got my 2000 points back but never got an cancellation email, or money back

    • +1

      Same here. Damn!

  • For those who got their order cancelled, you could try get one from the sony offer.
Good luck to those trying to get a code
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/476904

  • Order cancelled. No money refunded. Bleh!

  • +8

This appears to be against ACCC guidelines.

    1. Where are the published terms and conditions of the 'QANTASSTAFF' promo code?

    2. They took payment without ever intending to supply.

-proceeding through the online store and accepting payment implies the promo code is valid for the user

-if the online Qantas store isn't able to check eligibility of promo codes correctly, then this should be stated clearly on the website. A contact source should be provided where this can be checked.

    • Qantas store chose to accept and process payments first and committed the customer to purchasing on their store, without ever intending to supply to those customers who they deemed not to be eligible in retrospect (despite already been shown as eligible on the online store).
    • +2

      Agree.

Should we dispute the email and ask them to show in writing where the code was explicitly stated to be only eligible to certain people (aka staff)

    • I doubt many of us has the time or legal wits to go through with a complaint.

I will be part of any signed petition though!

      • +4

ACCC say that you should in the first instance try and contact the business to try and resolve the problem -
        https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/sales-delivery/non-deliver…

I've replied with the above listed points to Qantas through their online form (it was linked in the cancellation email). Took about 5 minutes to reply. https://www.qantasstore.com.au/contact-us

Happy for anyone else to copy and paste my above points in their reply.

        • I've copied your points above and sent through it through to the online form.

Also added in the line "If the code is only for meant Qantas staff, then it should be staff specific and linked to their Qantas email address or staff number. It should also be one-use only codes that the website will reject once it has been claimed."

I doubt we'll get any resolution out of this.

    • It would be interesting to know if the ACCC would think that this is against their guidelines. Maybe someone could call them…

    • The code may have been spread internally through the business and someone who knew someone or works for them just spread it here.

I don't blame them for not honouring the code for people who aren't Qantas Staff, because the code seems to be self explanatory IMO.

The entitled pricks complaining about the slowness of their order who don't work for Qantas who used the code, yes I do think they should be the ones who are blamed for this debacle. Not sure if the team at the Qantas Store would have picked up the high usage of the code otherwise.

All that being said, I shouldn't have used the code lol.

  • Been happily listening to my old Sony MDR-ZX770BN noise-cancelling headphones while waiting for my Sony WF-1000XM3 order to arrive. Now that it's cancelled I have noise-cancelling headphones and will have saved $245.87. OzBargain!

  • My points are now refunded..just waiting on the money component

    • same here. I used credit card to pay, probably the refund will take few days.

  • Can I ask a stupid question. I found someone willing to sell these to me today. I am about to go pick them up. How can I tell from the packaging if they are Australian stock or grey import? Is there a way to check?

    • ask them for a copy of the receipt for warranty purposes

      • thanks, is that the only way? there is no serial number or something I can enter?

You could buy 1 Australian Stock and 10 Grey Imports and use the same receipt as proof otherwise

        • See if the receipt has a product code on it that matches the barcode on the box?

Also ask to keep the receipt if you're purchasing it.

  • These (profanity) have cancelled my order without even informing me about it!

  • Just got the cancellation email too

  • Ordered without the code on Saturday. Saw the amount of people and then saw the code. Figured it was too much hassle to cancel and reorder with code because it puts me to the back of the line.

Glad I am so lazy. It’s shipped last Friday on qantas website but hasn’t been scanned anywhere by tracking yet.

  • From QF chat "We are completely out of stock and have no foreseeable ETA for any new stock. There is no option to wait for the stock. "

    • As per my point - it is more a stock issue rather than an invalid code issue - but the code users do give them an excuse to bulk cancel.

I would imagine the non code users will experience one of the following:

      1. Order shipped or going to ship soon
      2. Order will remain in pending to await stock or failing that will receive a “no stock cancellation”
      • Wow, so their inventory system actually sucks and they sold more than they had?

Don't know if I buy that.. but you never know I guess.

        • I think you will find most “suck”. It’s a really hard thing to get right. What adds to the complexity is supplier stock available which is hardly ever close to real time.

Even Amazon have cancelled orders on me and they are one of the top performers in this type of technology.

    • Well, I'm waiting for stock to arrive. My Estimated delivery is 10 September. Also, if the product is truly out of stock then it would say so on the website.

  • +2

Thank god for the PSN deal, I would be pissed if I was paying $75 more and getting my order cancelled as well.

  • Ordered without the coupon. Estimated delivery has been pushed out twice since ordering. ETA is now September 10 :(

    • Probably the PSN offer pushing out availability for you. Sony generally prioritises their channels

      • However Qantas may not be sourcing directly from Sony though. I think someone mentioned earlier that Harvey Norman is the supplier.

So Harvey Norman may be struggling to fulfil these orders and not being able to source from Sony.

So Qantas made the easier decision to just cancel all the code user orders.

Will be interesting to see if all the non code user orders get fulfilled or whether they eventually get cancelled due to “out of stocks”

        • Yeah, I assume Qantas have a deal with HN commercial. I was speaking to a guy working at JB that wanted to get a pair but they had no stock. They’ll be pumping these out though, nothing especially complex from what I can tell. Boats just take a while from Asia.

  • I'm so annoyed that my order was cancelled. I was looking at getting these before I saw the Qantas deal.

I would just pick them up at a retail outlet but I can't find anywhere that has stock. There are so many people requesting playstation codes that it's unlikely to get one.

Mod edit: Removed request - use classifieds (wanted)

  • +4

    Lol. Site is saying
    EXPECTED AVAILABILITY: 31 12 2019

    • +1

      That's hilarious lol

It just means Sony or whatever supplier they're using doesn't have any stock.

Like others have said already, the invalid code was probably just an excuse for them to cancel all these orders that they can't fulfil.

    • +2

LOL. They're just saying "okay you pricks who used the QANTASSTAFF code, take this, you'll never get these even for $271 because they won't be available until December and the sale will be long gone by then!".

  • +2

Ordered without the code too. Says shipped and I have a tracking number. Hurry up and get in my parcel locker already. :)

  • You won't miss a thing!
    Hello XXXXXXXX,

Your order from The Qantas Shopping Rewards Store has been picked up. Your estimated delivery date is Friday, 23 August.

Your package will be delivered by AusPost Standard Post to:

    XXXXXXXXXXX

Get up to date tracking information by clicking on the link below.

    • Update. Received today.

      Working perfectly. Good luck everyone.

  • Cancelled too. 😢

No email confirming this, but logged into the Qantas site. Saw my points had returned. Looked at order history "cancelled"!

Dissapointing. but in the grand scheme of life's dissapointments, it won't be high on the list.

  • I got the points back yesterday but no money refunded yet.

  • Haven't got my points or my money returned yet. Logged a ticket with Qantas 24hrs ago but still no response.

  • Mines been delayed until Nov 11.
I ordered without the staff code on the 10th.

    • +1

      That’s so far away!

Now I really think they just didn’t have enough stock and decided to use the invalid code as an excuse to cancel all these orders.

      • +1

        Exactly!

For those who ordered with no code, I’m surprised they didn’t just cancel for “no stock”.

Instead they are delaying shipment for nearly 3 months - what an insult. Who in their right mind would want to wait so long and losing interest in their money in the meantime.

At least with the code users they are returning customers their money.

I suppose they expect you to initiate it - call up and ask for refund.

    • Mine has been delayed to 12th Nov. Absolute joke.

  • +1

Funny. I just received a survey from Qantas store asking for feedback. haha

    • +1

Same here! Guess what I’m going to say? Very unpleasant shopping experience and that would be the last time I shop with them!

  • +1

I just received an email from Qantas telling me that my package has been shipped and the tracking number shows that it will be delivered tomorrow. My original estimation was 19 August but it got pushed back to 9 September. Pleasant surprises :)

Ordered without code around 3 hours after deal was posted

  • You can now order it on the website again, but dispatch is 31/12/19 estimate hahaha.

My order with the code is still processing and estimated 20 Aug (yesterday) with zero comms from Qantas. Completely forgotten 😂 I wonder if I leave it whether they will eventually fulfill it 🤔

    • If you add to your cart the actual estimate delivery is like 10th Jan 😂

      • My order actually did get cancelled, but again, appears you can re-order (without the code) - I also got 10 Jan 2020? Outside the PS code this still seems to be the best price by a fair margin?

  • -6

All this debacle is from Sony, I don’t know why you guys venting your anger at Qantas. It’s plain and simple, Sony is unable to meet the demand, thus cancelling shipping to their supplier, supplier cancelling the retailer, and the retailer (Qantas store) cancelling our order. The reason Qantas putting an estimate dispatch at the end of the year is because Sony can’t even give them an estimate when this headphone will be available. So if any party that deserved a boycott that would be Sony. Let’s hope Bose comes up with something as good as this headphones after their QC35 being dethrone by WH-1000XM series as king of NC.

  • +1

The delivery times don't make sense so you may get it sooner than you expect. Today is Thursday 22nd of August. I woke up this morning with an email saying great news, your order is on it's way. Delivery date is Monday 26th August. Then I read the next email and it says your item is available at your Aus Post parcel locker for pick up. Super happy but yeah their tracking emails seem a bit strange.

Thanks heaps OP as you saved me $130 on something I was trying to buy at full price but had been sold out everywhere. Also for those wanting to know where these are coming from, on my tracking it says DRUIN P/L (FULLFILLMENT CENTRE), which I think is part of Harvey Norman. I live in Brisbane.

    Cheers!

    • I wonder if we were to place an order now will it also be delivered promptly - despite saying available 31 Dec on the website

    • I ordered on the Sunday without the code. My order is now saying "Estimated delivery 12 November 2019" going to cancel I think…

  • +1

Got refund back on my credit card.

I’ll think twice before I try and buy anything from them again.

    • Were the points you gained when purchasing revoked also?

      • Yes got the points back yesterday, credit card refund today.
