Anyone facing issue with incorrect data balance shown in the app? I activated earlier in the week and just started using it 2 days back and it's showing 7 GB available out of 20 GB (there is no way I would have consumed 13 GB in 2 days). If it's pro-rated, the app should still show 7 GB out of 10 GB available!!

    • yup i activated the sim card yesterday and says that i have 6.9gb/20 left kinda weird i guess. Not sure what happened.

      • +1

Ok so looks like yours should have read 6.9 / 7.3 (11 days of prorated 20gb data). Bug in their system!

    • +2

Replying to my post as I chatted with associate and she got in touch with tech team who confirmed the total 20 GB shown is incorrect as it should be pro-rated for this month. Requested her to get this to attention of tech team so they can fix this bug in the next version of app.

  • Ordered sim in afternoon, got it in the evening. Want to switch from Amaysim (Optus network) to Circles.Life (Optus network). Read bad experiences about people porting from same network to same network. Since both Telstra and Lycamobile offer free prepaid sim, have ordered both. Will port from Amaysim to Telstra then to Circles.Life.

    • +3

Yeah I too don't risk Optus network ports within network. I like Voda that way - so easy (quickest) within their network - Voda-Kogan-Lebara have happened in minutes - ALWAYS.

      • Wasn't aware of that. Thanks for the info.

        • Ported to Lycamobile and then went to Circles website to port. They ported me from Amaysim as that's what I was using when I ordered the Sim. There was no option, no confirmation to change the provided. Boom it says porting request created with 1 click. I liked the feature though.
But I had to contact Earl from Circles Life staff and she said port would be done in 48 hours. I am waiting now. No calls no data. Just incoming is active.

          • @crazyboy: Update - Even after explaining chat reps multiple times that I want to port from Lycamobile to Circles.Life, they are still telling me the system is showing Amaysim to Circles.Life. They don't seem to understand anything at all. Now they have asked to wait for 24 hours.

            • @crazyboy: The port was unsuccessful 3 times. Got the text message. Then had to contact chat 3 times today. Every time it took 20 mins or more.
              Circles.Life staff is good.
But I believe it was Optus which was unable to port me in successfully.
              I wouldn't blame on Circles.Life.

              Just downloaded their app now.
The reception and internet download speeds are good enough.

        • Sorry to hear about your troubles. Hope it gets resolved.
I'm going to be porting from Amaysim as well, so I think I'll avoid the middleman and hope the Optus port process works eventually.

          • +1

@roughana: I successfully ported out directly from Amaysim to Circles today. I received an SMS to confirm the transfer request was received. I received an email when it was finished. No issues.
Downloaded the app and turned direct debit off.

  • Does signing up for this plan and selecting to port your number automatically initiate the porting process? I just got an email from my current provider (Boost) for a survey on why I have decided to leave.

    • +1

I don't think so. The moment you click on activate sim and enter some details then it will start porting, not before that.

  • +1

I just ported over from TPG mobile.

Very smooth experience. The sim card arrived very quickly and the port took less than 1 hour to complete.

I just did a speed test and it was super quick as well.

I was thinking about using the 4 months and then switching but I might stick with these guys. Could find a cheaper deal out there but I'm really happy with these guys so far.

  • There's no option to use a Photo ID card as proof of identity. I'm not comfortable giving out my passport number lol

    • I used my license

    • I spoke to someone on LiveChat and CL are working on accepting PhotoID cards. That was my problem and we used my husband's DL. But, we liked them so much that we're using husband's DL to cover a family member, too.

So does the new activation deadline apply to those who ordered before the changes?

      • I read that and it's still not very clear. I talked to chat and they said no, I only have 30 days to activate the SIM after ordering. I am genuinely confused because that means the November 30 deadline is impossible even if ordering on October 14.

        • how exactly is it impossible? if you order on Oct 14, you would have until Nov 14 to activate?

          • @sadgalsecret: I think you have until Oct 30 to activate, unless they’ve adjusted for the extension which is quite likely.

          • @sadgalsecret: I meant to word it as the November 30 deadline stated is pointless because of the 30 days to activate.

  • Just would like to share my experience…

Startrack was supposed to deliver it today around 2pm. I waited. Then, all of sudden, the tracking showed as delivered! I was at home the whole time and there was a buzzer outside. I called to Startrack. I was told it was returned to sender because "no one at home" ( which was completely untrue, as explained above). I later webchatted to Circle. They promised to send a new one. Around 5pm, I received email from Circle telling me to reorder. I tried and failed since it would not let me to put my porting number. I webchatted again thereafter. They promised to cancel my order so that I could reorder. Not sure if I want to try again…

    • +1

The first one was Startracks fault so cant blame the telco for that one.
When ordering there is an area where you can request that it be left in your letterbox or some other safe place if you want to make sure it is not returned.

      • I think it's a total waste of money to use Startrack when it could have gone into a $1 envelope like ordinary mail. These wasteful costs are ultimately passed onto the customer. Vodafone and Amaysim do the same thing.

Sensible telcos like Catch just send it in the mail.

        • The Sims are packaged and sent from stock stored at Startrack depots, this is how they can offer same day delivery, Australia Post do not offer this service.

          • @nocure: As someone who ports a secondary sim around like kicking a soccer ball, I don't consider it critical enough to need same day delivery. I'm never in a position where I "need it now". I'd never even heard of Circles.Life so it's hard to see how their service would be seen as critical to a new customer.

          • @nocure: They have a same day 6PM-9PM delivery window.

            That's got to be expensive.

            • @lostn: That may come out of marketing budget in so far as it’s a flash service to impress new customers. May not be something they aim to keep up.

  • +1

Looks like this company extended their 4 months free promo

  • +3

Signed up, took 40hours for an Optus mvno to port to circle and about an hour's outage but all services where working data, MMS , and etc.

Basically same network for free for 4 months happy so far.

Chats with customer service are quick, easy to deal with from a language perspective and friendly.

  • extended it because they didn't get enough people signing up? Or was it very popular?

    • +3

Not enough ppl I reckon. Just few OzBs signed up.

  • Got a couple of sims last week and ported over from Catch yesterday. Took a day to port and all is working well, so far…

  • -3

Didn't finish the join process because they asked that many information, only provided email, now this company keeps sending me email telling me it's time to activate my new SIM card and enjoy life.

Email is from [email protected] different domain to this website, sent via Amazon Simple Email Service :)

  • +4

I signed up with Circles Life, just as a trial, as i was told they use the FULL optus network, not just part of. So far a fortnight in, i am finding it as good as optus, and the idea of adding an additional 20gb for $10 or 3gb for $6 is an awesome idea. No other MVNO offers 20gb for $10. More like 2gb for $10. Considering it's free, i can't complain.

    • Do Optus MVNOs only get a restricted network?

      • -2

        Yes only wholesale network.

        • AFAIK only Telstra use 2 levels of service, Optus and Voda are the same no matter what telco you buy from.
(Telstra & Boost 1st tier service only)

          • @Cheeper: Yeah that’s what I thought too.

  • Just got an email saying they now deliver nationwide (aka WA, SA and NT)!

  • Anyone have issues porting from Kogan? They sent a email saying port was complete but still SOS only

    • Try removing the SIM

      • We did that, it had to go back to Optus to fix it, and it worked until this arvo where it's gone SOS only again.

  • +2

I ported over from TPG and I'm stoked. TPG is in the Vodafone network which is a POS these days.

I've been telling family and friends about this promo.

I'm going to stick with circles.life after the promo. I was paying $20 for 4gb in TPG. Circles. Life is such a good deal.

  • So it is 20gb for a total 4 months and not 20gb per month ?

    • 20GB per month

      • Cool. I also can see that if you are connected, lets say 20/10, the free trial is 4 months from Nov and ends 28/2/20 as the remaining 11 days of oct will also free.

  • Any idea where do you enter the referral code during sign up? Would give a go with the OzB referral link.

    • +4

I don't think you can enter a referral code and the 4 month promo code. It's one or the other.

      • True, only one coupon/discount.

      • Oh…I was hoping that we could stack the 4 months promo with referral code. I'm at payment page now and was wondering where do I enter the referral code. Thanks anyway.

  • So does the first partial month count towards the 4 free months?

    • What first partial month? I'm a little confused by this question

    • I wouldn't think so. So it is up to 5 months free access

    • So does the first partial month count towards the 4 free months?

Yes, promo starts on the 1st of the month.

      • If you port on November 2 you get the maximum free months?

        • Yes, 4 months and 28 days

          • @nocure: Sounds too true to be good.

          • @nocure: Are you sure the partial month is free? Because the app is telling me I'm going to be charged $16 and some change for this month.

            • +2

@lostn: it should be free according to their promo T&C's

If you sign up part way through a month, you will also receive a waiver of the first month’s pro-rated monthly plan fee, in addition to the 4 full months’; bill waiver of the $28 fee.

            • @lostn: Talk to LiveChat for reassurance.

  • :(

  • Signed up on Thursday, 10 Oct and SIM arrived next day. Activated port from Catch yesterday. However, no SMS to my Catch mobile number to validate port request. Pending porting completion. Is this normal port process for Circles.life i.e. no SMS to existing mobile number to validate port request? Would love to hear from anyone who has successfully ported in from Catch.

    • I want to know this too. I will be poring from catch

      • There are pages of people relating difficulties porting from Optus to Optus.

Probably safe to say you can expect delays or/and issues unless porting out to a non-Optus provider first.

        • I ported Jeenee to circles. Optus to Optus took 40 hours no texts recieved either. Just one after it was completed. Lost signal for about an hour and all back up and running.

        • No issue to accept porting for Optus to Optus providers would take a few days since this was highlighted on the porting page. My question was "Is it normal not to receive SMS on my existing mobile number to validate port request for Circles.lfe porting process?" Would this (no validation SMS) be the same for porting from non-Optus provider to Circles.life? Perhaps, others who have successfully ported from Telstra, Voda could comment. Thanks.

  • +1

I have always been impressed with Vodafone's port-in / port-out quick process. Not anymore. From Voda to Circle it took almost 4 days (and this after I got confirmation text from both Circles and Voda!).
One good thing was that Circles customer service turned out to be top notch. I had chatted couple of times on the issue and both the associates were sending me daily updates! And sure enough - as soon as porting was complete, I got email from both of them! Very impressed with their pro-activeness.

  • Is there no way to manage your account on their web site? I want to see when my next bill is due.

The app says I have a partial month's charge due of $16.26 for a service that got activated today. Now I'm second guessing myself on whether I remembered to enter the promo code or not.

Is it supposed to say that? It doesn't tell me when I'm going to be charged. I was of the impression the partial month would be free, and then the next 4 months after would be free also. But it says I have an upcoming bill and now I'm worried they will charge me for next month too.

The web site only allows you to track your order. The app tells you your usage and your upcoming bill but doesn't say when it will be charged, and makes no mention of any free months. Now I'm panicking that I forgot to enter the code. I was charged 10c when I ordered the SIM which was refunded to me. That's the only charge I can see so far.

If I did manage to get the 4 months free, do I wait till 4 months are about to be up then cancel or can I cancel now and still get the 4 months?

    • +2

In the app under notifications it should say waiver added as first entry.

      • I did get that, thank you. But it doesn't mention anything about this partial month.

        • I activated on the third and I have no sign of a partial credit either. I’m just assuming that’s why I’ve not received a waiver invoice for the first month (app says it should be issued within ten days of the beginning of the month).

          • +3

@0jay: Circles.Life chat support confirmed that partial bill will also be waived though there is no notification of partial credit on the App.

            Great support from Circles.Life:

G'Day, I am just following-up regarding your query on why you are getting $16.26 bill. I will be more than happy to assist you on this.

Just to give you an explanation about the promo. We're not lying when we say 4 months free; you will automatically receive a bill waiver of the $28 monthly plan fee for the first 4 months of your plan. If you sign up part way through a month, you will also receive a waiver of the first month’s pro-rated monthly plan fee, in addition to the 4 full months’; bill waiver of the $28 fee. So it's totally FREE - as long as you don't make any charges outside of your plan inclusion like Add-on, Boosts or Roaming, then you don't need to worry for any extra charges or hidden fees.

I hope I was able to make it clear for you about the 4 months free promotion that we have. Please disregard the $16.26 bill as that will be break even once the $28 bill waiver has been applied on your account.

            • @F1ngolf: I'm a bit concerned about whether it's like Kogan NBN where if you cancel halfway you lose the promo waiver.

              1. You may terminate the Circles.Life $28 Monthly Plan at any time in accordance with the termination rights in the Standard Form of Agreement. If the Circles.Life $28 Monthly Plan is terminated, any unused bill waivers will be lost.

That might also include waivers that are not yet applied… Since they only seem to apply it at the end of the month.

I wouldn't be surprised if the at the end of all of this, the minimum is still $28 for the 4 months. Anyone want to port out early to test? lol.

              • @[Deactivated]: You can always jump on their wonderful live chat support to clarify your concern and share your finding here.

  • Looking for some feedback on my porting options - currently with Optus, was planning to port via telstra $0 prepaid sim (already ordered). However having second thoughts after reading this thread in the forums. Maybe i should be going directly Optus -> circles and wait 48 hrs or whatever it may be, problem is have to decide today to put it the correct provider to avoid the same drama as @crazyboy above - any advice?

    • +1

I activated porting from Catch (Optus network) last Friday and porting was completed this morning. No drama. If I were you, I would just port from Optus to Circles. For me, porting from Optus to Telstra to Circles not only involves additional work but could possibly increase risk of delay too. fyi, I had very bad experiences with Telstra porting process due to outages and talking to their outsource CS support including case managers is very, very, very painful and time consuming.

      • +1

I did the same thing but did it Sunday. Strange for you because they do port on Saturdays which they should have done for you.

        • Yup! But I'm good with the porting timing since it is within the 48 business hours.

      • Thanks for that. Forgot to mention, family member is going via telstra from an old virgin prepaid, i thought i'll see how she goes, but she hasnt started the process yet and the promo ends tonight; i will probably go direct from Optus as you suggest.

        • No worries. Do post how she goes with the porting. I'm interested to know if she would receive SMS validation to confirm her request to port out from Telstra.

          • @F1ngolf: so virgin to telstra took about 36 hours all up, and yes there was sms verification.

telstra to circles only took about 40 mins this morning.

Given the time it took to port to telstra, i'll be going direct optus >> circles to minimise down time

  • can we port out to Kogan and don't deal whatsoever with Circle Customer Service? or this Circle is special where not only we initiated the Activation with Kogan but we also need to call Circle Customer Service to port out (cancel) ?

You can port out same as you would from any other provider.
