I'm still expecting to receive them today. I'll give you an update if I face the same problem.

Update: I've received all mine and they all have credit in them. I guess your best option is to contact them. I wish you all the best because that just sucks.

I'm glad that you got them all right, I sent question to seller on email and got replied with officeworks return policy, saying giftcards are not refundable, wrote back to them and still waiting for the reply, and I called officeworks on the hotline they were not able to find my order because I ordered them from ebay…:(

@Yola: got a reply from seller on ebay yesterday evening, they asked me to take photos of the cards, front and the back, I did it and sent, got an email directly from officeworks this morning asked me to do the same again, did it the second time, waiting for reply again…

@klaiwy: This could be similar to what happened to me. Last October I purchased five $100 physical Coles Mastercards. With these cards the plastic Visa card is contained inside a cardboard cover and the GC number is printed on the cardboard as well as the plastic card inside, but the latter is not visible. Most had 0 balance, some had a few cents on them. In fact some of the cards inside the cover were VISA cards, one was a $50 Mastercard. I purchased them at a manned register and neither I or the operator noticed any problems with them. After one did not work I checked the outside of the remaining cardboard packets and they did not look like they had been tempered with. I then opened the packets and checked balances. I had to email Coles with photos of the cards, cardboard cases and receipts. Fortunately they credited me the face value of the cards (I was out the $5.95 fee but offset by bonus flybuys points). Since then I have looked at many physical gift cards and the ones where the card is not sealed up inside a cover are probably safer. I think that someone had substituted the plastic cards in the cardboard cover with ones that had been used. Then they could check the balances on the cards they had. When I purchased the cardboard covers with the dud plastic cards, the cards that they had their possession were activated and they could use them. It is easy for people to temper with GC and even to take them home, substitute the plastic cards and return the cardboard packets. When I googled it I found discussions in US and employees were suspected. This scam is detailed here from Jan 2018. But

@Yola: I'm glad that was solved finally, Coles looks more friendly on this kind of issue. I still hadn't heard back from them till this morning so I called again. The lady put me on hold for 15mins then told me the staff that email me earlier was not available so she would need to call me later…Come on I don't need that particular staff to answer, I just need the credits back. She explained she cannot do it for me and the only way is the wait for THAT staff to do it…3 hours later I found the card activated, they let me waited for 4days

@klaiwy: So are your cards working now? Yes kudos to Coles, after all I could have been scamming them. If I was them I would have at least asked for a statutory dec, police report or proof of identity. Thank you Coles financial services.
