20% off @ Computer Alliance eBay

i guess it pays for the $15 postage…

      Link to $75 notebook?

      • -7

        I was looking at SSDs.

        • Fair enough based on the thumbnail

  • Code not working

  • +2

This code can't be applied to your order

First item I click on from that page, not eligible.

Since when do CA have no free shipping with eBay Plus?

    • Unfortunately now first I've seen too

  • Come on 5700XT deal. //Laptops only.

  • GODDAMN IT, I BOUGHT SOMETHING FROM THEM YDAY.

    • +3

One thing I've seen happen quite often is they always do eBay sales and that on Mondays,

So if your buying something from eBay especially from shops that are known to do these sales always sleep on it until Monday , but sadly this isn't working yet

      • maybe buy on Sunday, but pay on Monday ?
( you can buy at Sunday's prices, but pay with coupon on the Monday :-) )

    • +2

Nevermind code doesn't work on anything anyway :)

    • +1

      notebook only

      have a good day

    • -4

RETURN IT. IT'S NOT THE END OF THE WORLD…

It is annoying to type in all caps.

    • Call them, they can cancel and then reorder OR if already posted, do the same but they can adjust existing dispatched order to the new one. Comes down to how much savings and whether worth doing. They are good like that.

  • +2

Coupon code suggests it's probably just notebooks, ebay banner also read that way "Save 20% off notebooks"

    • +1

Just tested it coupon works only on notebooks, have updated OP. Thanks

The man's right , makes sense for it to be called p20note

Interesting item to use as the thumbnail… For those who aren't aware, Samsung doesn't appear to have sent any Borderlands 3 codes to people participating in the SSD promo, and the terms of the promo were originally 14 days from submission approval which has well and truly passed.

Check out the thread on here or Whirlpool for discussion.

    • were originally 14 days from submission approval which has well and truly passed.

Mine approved last week still waiting but received email confirmation.

      • Same

      • I got approved on 1 October. No code as yet.

        • Same here

      • Same boat. I called Samsung to question them and they said they've got a lot of similar calls about the copies of Borderlands. Customer service agent on the phone claimed "we need 28 days instead of 14" and that it was "a technical issue on their end" but guaranteed that those who put in claims will get their copies eventually. I plan to call at the end of the month (after the 28 days) to see what happens.

        • omg forgot about this. Got approved a couple of weeks ago..

  • Deal is only for laptops/notebooks

  • -2

Code didn't for me with a TPLink network switch and no free postage for eBay Plus.

I saw that before with the no free postage issue and they fixed it after a period time.

    • "20% off Notebooks (Max Discount $500) @ Computer Alliance eBay"

  • +5

Is it just me or do the laptops/notebooks not seem a competitive price?

    • +1

It's due to 8th gen or better Intel mobile CPUs being used in most laptops now. Display nowadays is 1080p minimum. SSD is becoming standard now. Weak AUD is not helping.

Another reason is that it is feeBay….

  • +3

    Is jack around.

    • his busy checking prices…

    • Yeah he's upstairs

  • Checking or adjusting lol.

    • you'll need to ask him when you see him i guess… ¯_(ツ)_/¯ lolll

  • Mac? Seems nope

    • I don't recall seeing Computer Alliance having Mac's in their eBay store?

  • +1

CA up to their usual shananigans of limiting/removing stock before an eBay promo?

    • +1

That must be why the code isn't working yet, they are busy "rearranging" the "available" stock

  • I need a fast laptop thats for the couch/my lap & general browsing. Fingers crossed for a bargain while looking tonight, almost tempted to wait for the sales in a month or so

    • +3

I can highly recommend the PS63 or Prestige 15 MSI laptop. Wireless1 have it going for $1529 with an i7-8565u and 1050ti Max Q GPU.

Plenty of grunt for heavy workloads, light and slim for lap use and plenty of battery life for long stretches between charges.

The Prestige 15 was just released and have USB-C charging and Thunderbolt. As well as the new 10th Gen i7-10710u and a newer 1650 Max Q GPU. If you can forgo those pieces then the PS63 comes in at a very good price point and it's virtually the same chassis.

15.6", but it feels smaller as the bezels around the screen at tiny. It would probably be the same size as some 13 or 14" notebook. 1.6kg as well.

      • +1

That is a wonderful suggestion, thanks kindly and researching tonight. :)

        • +1

It's a ultra low voltage (15w) CPU, so it won't quite have the same grunt as a H series CPU, but it's nowhere near as power hungry or runs as hot as a H series CPU.

It's a really unusual pairing as most U series/ultrabook style laptops usually rely on the UHD 620 iGPU or a much smaller NVidia MX150. The 1050ti or 1650 Max Q give it us huge push up in graphics performance in comparison.

I used a PS63 for a little while, but ended up opting for the Prestige 15. Both handle games pretty well, but placing them in a lower power/battery saver mode keeps them very cool and battery efficient, perfect for web browsing etc. The marketing of 16 hours on battery is a huge stretch, but I think with light word processing/web browser it would push 10+ hours between charges. It's a very discrete laptop considering the other variants from MSI, it certainly does not scream "gaming".

Speakers are a little lackluster, not much oomph and down firing, but I don't use the speakers. If I planned to use the audio, it would be via headphones.

Comes with a nice "faux-leather/fabric" sleeve and a very compact power supply. The build quality is fairly premium for a MSI laptop.

@sghetti: how's the screen? I found the prestige 15 a bit dim even at max brightness

            • @flipden: I find the screen is perfectly fine. I use it outdoors (not in direct sunlight) and it’s ok. Yes it’s probably a little more dim that others, but it’s fine in the office, on our outdoor cafe and on the bus.

I often run it at half brightness in the office anyway.

              • @sghetti: I signed in to say thanks for the recommendation. That's a solid post. Also hoping to glean a little from your experiences.

I've been looking at the Surface Laptop 2 but have been waiting for the 3 to come out to see what the price drop would be. I can't find a decent comparison website between either the prestige 15 and the PS63 to compare with the Surface Laptop 2. Any advice you might be able to give?

                • +1

@ThaiChiMeatball: I had the Surface Laptop 1, great device but the audience is slightly different. The PS63 and Prestige 15 are targeted at content creators, but are equally as good for light gaming.

The Surface Laptops are quite nice, slightly smaller and lighter than the MSI content creator laptops, but for that you lose power, you get lower spec’d CPU’s and the UHD 620 graphics, which have a significantly worse time playing games. I played WoW Classic on it with somewhat sufficient frames with most things turned way down.

The Surface does a good job intertwining with the Windows ecosystem, firmware updates are delivered straight through Windows Updates and it all just works.

If you want to have no issues with light gaming and more intensive tasks, I’d recommend PS63/Prestige 15. If you want a device that is a little smaller and lightweight (the PS63/15 are still quite small for 15.6”) and don’t need the more powerful CPU and GPU then go for the Surface.

                  • @sghetti: Legend. Really appreciate you taking the time to reply. Thanks for the advice!

EBay should make their T&Cs clearer on what categories the discount applies, instead of always using a generic template that says "Eligible items listed on www.ebay.com.au ". But I guess that's not their intention, they want people to go on a treasure hunt each time :-p

    • Agree. I had 3 different discount voucher codes (PATPAT 5%, POTTER 3% & POUNCE20 20%) offered on my eBay page but most of the purchases I made last week just didn't fit the T&Cs apparently. My fault but I am not about to read the conditions every single time I go to buy anything.

  • Anyone looking to buy laptop, please check wirelss1 prices. Wireless1 sometimes has 15% off only but I noticed they will come up few $ cheaper compare with CA with 20% off.

    • -1

just checked wireless 1, CW is cheaper in all laptop prices.

      • cw?

        • Type mistake, I meant CA ,computer alliance

  • +3

    there anything good on there?

  • is there any potential dramas buying a laptop via these guys, versus say buying a Lenovo direct from Lenovo's website?

    • If the laptop breaks down I'd prefer to deal with Lenovo or Dell directly than an Ebay seller, even dealing with a b&m store I'd prefer. To me 20% off does not cover the potential risks.

  • :( waiting for a 20% off everything at Computer Alliance to finish my PC build with a 9900KF

    • I ordered my 3700x system yesterday from mwave eBay with 10% discount. The best I could get. Futu was a bit cheaper, but they didn’t have the memory I wanted.

  • anyone know if i can claim GST when buying from ebay?

I intend to gift/buy for my brother living overseas and leaving within 60 days. Won't be bringing it back to au.

  • What's up with the no eBay Plus free ship?

    • Eats into profit.

  • ROG Scar II with i7 and rtx2060 for $1680. Should I go for it or you guys think there will be better deals in coming sales?

    • Great price imo

  • +1

$15 shipping despite ebay plus now booo

  • +3

Honestly i used to love CA but now their store just sucks. The HP x360 laptop was 1399. Last time with the ebay discount, they jacked the price to $1499. Now its been jacked again to $1699.

  • Dammit that thumbnail had me excited… I'm so keen for a good SSD sale
