weird according to live chat we cant downgrade (unless we pay ETC). but then the staff offered me $10 off for first 6 months bill. ie $55 each month for 6 months then back $65. i didnt ask for the discount. just say i think $65 plan is too much i have 6 kids to feed plus 3 bmw cars….(kidding for the car)

  • +1

Signed up around 1 pm. Received text within a minute. Number ported from amaysim in 5 minutes.

    • Did you have to pay the $65 upfront or just the $99 for the phone.

  • i am still waiting to get ported did it one hour ago, lyca mobile takes a while, i had this sim laying around so i thought id use it, so i confirmed a few things with the sales rep, yes you can cancel anytime but you pay 390 dollars, so total the s10e could cost you 99+390 dollars (with free airpods), but that is not the ozbargain way :P

once i receive mine tomorrow ill try to downgrade it to the $45 dollar per month plan which brings the etc to $270.
and why stop there, some others have tried to bring it down to a month to month plan on online chat and have succeeded which brings the etc down to $0 so all you have paid is $99 for the phone and the airpods lol. if you sell the airpods, you basically got a free s10e for about 2 hours work.

worse case scenario $490 dollars for s10e and free airpods
    best case scenario FREE s10e

  • Anyone changed the plan in live chat?

  • Anybody know how much data included for the $45 plan? Any international call allowance?

    • +1

      30GB. no international stuff

      • Yea actually I feel Telstra is pretty poor. Even boost can include some international call/text. This is my first ever time going under Telstra. Maybe the last as well.

        • Same. Only going with Telstra due to the s10e. Otherwise, nah I’m good.

  • Order got processed at 10:30am, still waiting for the port from Voda prepaid :( Went and bought a SIM as advised by JB staff that it is port in only.

Hope it is done tomorrow so I can pick it up while I'm at work, don't feel like doing another trip to the city on the weekend or having to wait til Monday :(

    • the jb chick told me it could take 24 to 48 hours for port over :( i hope the plan downgrade possibility does not get removed by the time i get my phone and contract finalized..

      • Telstra rep said 24-48 hours as well. Sucks that it takes this long to port. At least my current provider isn't disconnected yet.

  • So I'm currently out of contract with Telstra. I don't want to lose my number. Whats the best way for me to get this deal? Or should I go to Optus in anticipation for the next Telstra deal in 30+ days?

    • I would say next deal will be in jan as i got my p20 deal this year.

  • Signed up Last night about 7.
    No message yet.
Anyone got there pending messages ?

    • Signed up last night at 530 PM porting from Kogan. Still waiting for text

      • signed up at 3pm still waiting, called telstra was on the phone for 2 hours, same answer just wait till you get it, its stupid how some people get it in 2 mins and others in 2 days. its got nothing to do with the old provider its telstra that sends the message.

        • +1

Signed up with my other half at 7pm last night. She received the text immediately, I'm still waiting. The Telstra chat bot this morning said that they had escalated it then I went into the Telstra store at 9am and they advised me that the 48 hour thing was a load of crap from their end and that the amount of sign ups had messed the system up. Likely, I will receive an error message after a few days requesting me to resign and start the process again. He then said the fastest way to speed it up was to go back to JB and cancel the application and start again. So…. I went back to JB and they advised that due to the port being midway between Telstra and my incumbent Optus, they could not cancel. Now playing the waiting game to see if I receive an error message or if the text actually comes through. On a side note, the JB sales person this morning said that they received a long email from Telstra overnight advising of the issues/delays on the back of the offer and for them to advise their customers to wait it out. My handset is still with JB and they said they will hold onto it and still warrant the deal even if it's next week.

          • @TheWheeler: ''I will receive an error message after a few days requesting me to resign and start the process again''

well damn that sucks big time, a couple of days could be most likely till the end of next week, you just cant win with telstra

            • @striker5950: I just got off the phone with the porting team. They said similar thing however they said I won't have to re-do anything and when their system is fixed, all the texts should go through. They said to call back tomorrow if I still haven't got the text.

They were also unable to try again to force the text to go through.. 1 hour 20 mins on hold.. Zzz

              • @Tnetennba: i wonder if its worth going to another jbhifi and getting an optus sim and redoing it all again, are we allowed to singup for 2nd plan for this deal? ill wait for the s10e to go through im not gonna cancel it, but i was thinking to go singup for the pixel 4 too. can someone confirm if they singed up for 2 plans on the same name?

i could tell them one is business and one is personal?

  • I must be one of the lucky ones, ported within couple of minutes and received 10 dollar discount from online chat from telstra. Great deal considering it comes with the galaxy buds. Thanks JB and Telstra. Although, i could buy a few iphones with the $$$$ i am losing on TLS shares.

Bought an Optus Sim this morning and porting only took about 20mins. Got home and Telstra chat have changed me to a $50 byo month to month plan with no additional charges and no cancellation fees. Let's see if this works.

    • What the initial emails from Telstra say? In particular, email with subject welcome to your new plan something like that

      • First I received emails with the CIS and Here's an Estimate for your Order. This told me that effectively I had been approved by Telstra to go on to the new plan.
Then about 5 mins later "Activation Complete" (but before that I lost reception on my optus sim and swapped over to Telstra sim).

    • Hi greentea, How did you ask the Telstra Agent to change the mtm plan? I've been told they couldn't do it, suggested me to check ith JB store.

      • I just asked if it was possible and they said yep!
When I asked if there were fees involved in changing he said "don't worry I'll cover it :) "
        He was very helpful.

        • Nice! I will try my luck a bit later!

    • Well done!

    • Have you cancelled or do you plan to cancel the month-to-month right away?

      • When you cancel, does your number get cancelled as well? Or just your plan with them?
Because I don't want my number to cancel as well.
        Thanks

        • I did this last time during the $500 gift card. Moved to $49 plan, then Telstra announced month to month plans, moved to them and then ported out. Paid $49 for first month then $2 pro rata.

  • +1

It's been past 24 hours since my request for port in from Optus. Spoke with Telstra twice, the most recent one offered my to expedite my order which my sim would be activated within 4 hours from now and the first month of bill is waived.

    • Thats good. Hmm I signed up yesterday 12pm so already 28 hours I should get better than first month waived :)

      • Send them a message and express your "frustration" ;)

  • Can anyone confirm if porting from Woolworths Mobile is fine? I know they use the Telstra network for their service, so unsure if this would count as a "new customer"

    • Probably not. Port somewhere else first (Optus or Voda based carrier) and then to Telstra, should be fine.

      • +1

For anyone else wondering, I just called JB Hi-Fi and they confirmed porting from Woolworths Mobile would be eligible

  • Beware, standard porting process can be up to 48 hours, excluding weekends.

  • Has anyone pulled off the early-cancel deal yet? (Buy phone with plan, then cancel a few days later for cheaper phone)

  • For those that for switched to a byo month by month plan on chat, can you share how you asked for it? I'd like to do the same then cancel without fees and retire my Galaxy S4. It still works well but the 3 batteries - one original and two "genuine" replacements are all not holding charge for long.

    • I'm on boost so I'll need to get a new prepaid with voda or optus then port in with a new number then cancel it.

  • For Samsung 10e, do you need to open the box to claim the bonus buds? Anyone knows?

    • Not 100% sure, I believe it only requires the Tax Invoice and IMEI (which is printed on the box)

      • This. No need to open box.

    • I saw a friend did it. He had to execute some dial command on the phone which display some barcodes, and do a screenshot and attach to the redeem application.

    • geesus read the top of the post. slowly. and then go to that specific thread about buds promo

    • Would also like to know this as I'm wanting to gift the phone away edit never mind read the promo page

  • who is still waiting on the damned message from shitstra?

    • +1

Yep me. Signed up at 9am yesterday.

      • Mime went through in about 10 mins.

        • I read a comment over on the Pixel deal that says apparently only 10 percent of ports are going through, so who knows. I'm with Optus atm.

    • Signed up Thursday, still nothing. Im so frustrated

  • Cant change the plan to $45, talked to few reps. can any one guide, who has succeeded in downgrading plan.

    • -1

If you read this thread from page one you will find the answer

    • +2

You need to go instore, I think. Go to a diff JB or try Good Guys as well apparently.

      • +1

Was able to change to month to month plan over chat this morning. they waived the cancellation charge aswell.

        • I just cancelled my plan this morning. Was told the ETC was waived, guess I'll see when my bill comes in.

        • @4kbargain: So you just keep changing rep untill successed? Wow congratulations. But your service already active, right? I haven't so need to wait.

          • @CyberMurning: Yes I ported it yesterday from kogan. It took 10 mins to port. And tried talking to few reps with no luck yesterday. this morning however rep advised me to go to month to month plan and waived the ETC. I think its all about luck.

I went to grab this deal at World Square Sydney at 7pm tonight, unfortunately they already sold out for S10e. They also check the stock for the closest JB hifi that still have s10e, none in the city area and the closest one is at JB Artarmon. Hope this helps.

    • One staff told me you can sign up at any store if sold out the store can request stock to be transferred and you can collect at later date.

      • I'll try again today. Maybe there's a distance limit they can ask for stock transfer.

  • Signed up Thursday morning, still no text. Think I'm going to cancel it, this is a joke.

    • +1

No porting on weekends, we'll have to wait till at least Monday :(

      • There is supposed to be porting on weekends.. the porting team is open 10am-8pm today I think. Not sure about Sundays, though last time I ported on a Sunday in about 10 mins but I assume that was all automated.

      • I ported from Optus to Telstra today (Sunday), but in the past I had heard that weekends are slow.

    • +2

Give up on a free $600+ because it’s taking too long?

      Stop telling jokes.

    • I'm experiencing the same. Multiple calls/chats and been promised it's getting ported but no progress.

  • check this one out guys, i spoke to the manager on the 24x7 app.
latest statement, our porting system is messed up, now numbers can take up to 14 days to be ported..
im almost thinking about going to cancel the stupid order
anyone else heard anything like this?

  • Did anyone port from circles.life to Telstra?? The customer ID isn't working for some reason.

    • If your old provider/plan is considered as prepaid service you only need dob and name. For example, Kogan.

      • But circles life is postpaid

        • How'd your porting go?

          • @lolcoaster: Porting completed today… Talked with Telstra on live chat yesterday and they sped up the process, i guess.

  • Terrific deal! Can you port from Aldi prepaid to this offer by any chance?

    • +1

      yeah, why not!

    • From what I’ve read Boost is the only one you can’t port from (and still be eligible for this deal).

  • For those that have managed to get the phone, how is the S10e? especially with regards to battery life.

I've read that the Australian S10 series comes with Samsung's own Exynos chip which is known to be bad with battery life and thermals.

  • Did this this morning in Canberra. Will have to wait for 2 phones to be shipped to the store, and for the port from Optus (I bought 2 X pre paid sims immediately before going into JB), but given I was in the market for new phones, waiting a few days doesn't bother me at all. I'll try to downgrade to the $45 plan and if I can I'll actually keep the plan and cancel my existing (out of contract) Telstra services. Great deal!

  • I think they may be starting to run out of the s10e, especially black colour, had to get mine ordered in from wollongong (im in canberra)

  • +1

    Just got through this deal.

    • Went through signup process @ JBHIFI Southland. Took around 30 minutes for the signup / credit check + 30 minutes for the port across from Amaysim.

    • Picked up the S10E for $99.00 after the port was confirmed (FYI: the phone was the last one in store).

    • Went through the Samsung promo page for the airbuds without any issues.

    • Spent 40 minutes speaking with three different Telstra chat agents for moving down from the $65 —> $50 month-to-month plan. Escalated it to a manager who gave me a final definitive answer as per below:

"Yes we can waive the cancellation fee of a plan if the plan is already under Telstra's Plan but from JB HiFi to Telstra Plan will incur a $390.00 cancellation fee which will be displayed in your next invoice. This is charged via JB HiFi, not Telstra and hence I am unable to assist you with the waiver for this fee."

All in all, still a great deal even without the plan downgrade and I would highly recommend those who have had luck downgrading their plans to double/triple check that their cancellation fee has been properly waived.

    • Did you open the phone to get the imei or just pic of the box?

      • Just the outside of the box was enough.

Your receipt (which you also attach) also contains the IMEI number as well fyi.

    • Are you currently a customer with Telstra? I'm wondering if those who were successful in the downgrade and cancellation waiver have been with Telstra for awhile. I think I've been with them 6 years.

      • When I did it they said the reason for no cancellation fee was because the plan didn't have a handset included with it. Not sure why they are rejecting it now

        • The person I had said there was a fee but he was going to waive it. Weird

    • for those cancelling the plan and incurred $390 ETC will still be upfront right considering paying $390 + $99 for the S10e phone.

    • It is likely depends on who the agent/manager you are talking to.

    • Update (27/10/2019 @ 5:00pm):

Gave it a 4th attempt and managed to move to the $50 month-to-month deal (no contractual obligation) with the ETC ($388.90) waived as well.

      • Wow any specifics reason you mentioned to make the chances higher?
I thought next lower plan is $45 not $50? Anyway I'm happy with 50

  • Did mine in 30 mins too got the text pretty fast and port already done. but i dont have the phone as i need white and not available so is on order.

  • Did mine using newly activated Vodafone prepaid $2 sim with $10 value from officeworks on Thursday night, port went through overnight and picked up phone yesterday. Claimed Buds online yesterday, pending. Trying to downgrade via Telstra Chat and was told same as above comments that need to go to JB HiFi in store.

  • got another s10e for the missus. Number ported right away. However, can't downgrade to $45 JB plan anymore without incurring $390 ETC. oh wells.

    • thats what i was affraid of that they will patch that loophole before i get my sms confirmation which i still have not gotten since Thursday. i might as well cancel it since i really wanted to get it for 100 dollars, yes 490 is still a good price but im not in dire need a phone atm since i got the v30 3 months ago.

      • Most likely since there must be thousands of people signing up then cancelling their plan immediately during these couple of days. I'm also still not done with the port in process and I don't even know when its gonna be done.

But nothing to worry, on worst case scenario you should still be able to sell the phone for more.

      • try the live chat late at night. I got nowhere and I must have tried a dozen times. Then I logged onto the live chat via the 24x7 app at like 10:45pm and I got someone to switch me to MTM first try.
