I checked mine via your link and it says completed. Hope yours changes over for you by the time JB opens tomorrow. Good luck mate!

  • Went to JB after work to ask about the $99 upfront deal on the S10e, pretended I'll have to move overseas in a few months and asked if the plan could be cancelled, dude says yes you'd just need to pay off the balance of the minimum total spend ie whatever's left of the $65x12 = $780, didn't say anything about the $390 cancellation fee everybody on here has talked about. Can anyone confirm this or was the dude talking out of his backside?

    • +2

      many already confirmed 390

    • +1

You can see it clearly in the Critical Information Summary here: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0024/9803/5810/files/jb-mo…
      Telstra chat also confirmed it.

    • Thanks guys - the dude at JB also said there's no end date to this deal but not sure whether to trust him, might pull the trigger today.

Did you have to give any reason to Telstra for cancelling? Just being mindful there must've been a surge of cancellations last few days and they must think people are up to something

      • +1

You can cancel and pay the ETC no questions asked. But Live Chat are on to the cancellations and are starting to deny waivers to change to the BYO 50.

        • No worries, will walk into a Telstra shop when the time comes and look them in the eye then :) Thanks

  • received my bill today, only need to pay ~$5 (converted to $50 m2m). cheers OP
still waiting for the earbuds confirmation. Did anyone got it already?

    • How did you convert to m2m? And why ~$5?

I registered for earbuds last night so claim is still on the status "submitted"

      • just live chat as suggested in most of the post.
        ~$5 is pro-rata of each plan. (~$2 for $65 plan, ~$3 for $50 m2m)

        • +1

How long after changing to m2m did you cancel? Also, did you cancel by porting it to other number or what?

  • Got the phone, paid $99 and will get back $90 from trs. Amazing. And also got it transferred to $50 MTM…. got the Chat transcript on my email. Maybe wait for a week or two then cancel.

    • S10e for circa $20 not bad!
Reading some new comments I am now skeptical if Telstra will move many(or any) of us to the MTM plans… They may have got wind of the mass signups and moves to the MTM plans… There's so many others in the Pixel 4 thread too!

  • Did everybody else get a 4GX model or just 4G?

    • I got given a 4GX. Signed up yesterday. Collecting it today.

  • Got the verification code. Signed up last Friday around 4pm.

  • Me: Yes, proceed with my order
E: Awesome! I'll be generating the bill expectations for you.

E: So you may change and cancel it anytime you would want.

E: Therefore, No fees in transferring plans

    • Anything special you said to change over? I'm just about to jump on live chat.

      • Nothing special. as long your service is already active just ask if cannot close and change staff

        • Yeah I got told it would be the full $390. About to jump on for second one.

        • I think I found the right live chat person who changed me over and waived the ETC!

Did you guys receive email confirmation straight away? I haven't received mine yet…

  • 4 reps in and none of them are willing to change to the month to month plan or downgrade to the $45 a month plan FML!

    • Same for me. I might wait a month or so and then try to change. The reps might all be aware of the influx of JB customers. If I wait till next month, maybe things will have died down. I'm happy paying $65 for one month.

      • Actually I think the chance to get is now, I'm not sure why they can't see our plan is contract. Maybe it's part of cooling off period, not sure. But common sense: changing from contract to non-contract, there must be a fee.

        • Did you claim the galaxy buds? What do you enter in Login ID?

      • So i finally got a rep to change me to the $50 month to month plan, its telling me the first month is going to cost me $100 then $50 after that but still happy, will most likely cancel it at the end of next month.

        • fark I can't get someone who will do it! I must have gone through every single one of them now!

          • @pistachio1: Keep at it! I just got a rep to change it for me after a few goes. Hopefully it goes through and good luck!

    • +1

I was able to do it this morning, i used the tesltra 24x7 app.

      Opened with something similar to
"Hi, I just signed up for a 65$ plan but ive just seen the 50$month to month plan and am interested in switching across"

from their the rep just outlined the m2m critical info summary and confirmed to change fees when i asked.

  • For those that were able to switch from the $65 to $50 plan - what kind of confirmation did you receive?

  • I just signed up the phone with JB today. The manager told me that I will receive a sms code for my optus prepaid to agree to port over to Telstra. But after 9 hours no SMS?
I checked my order state on https://ordertracker.telstra.com.au/ and order status is in progress.

What next if someone can help?

    • gessus you clearly didnt read this thread. people are waiting for 50+ hours to get the sms. and you got panic after just 9… :D

      • haha I thought they were waiting for the port and not the SMS code.

  • Any of you guys still interested can Goto Forrest chase JB hifi and looking for Kirby. Still some left. Be quick.

  • Springvale JB got a stock replenish today "we have heaps of stock".

How to get downgraded to $50pm plan without a cancellation fee? Had three ppl on 24x7 app say I had to pay $388 ETC.

UPDATE: 4th person in, after 3 unsuccessful attempts on 24x7 app said "I can see you tried to change your plan on the online chat and was quoted an ETC, but since you have me on the line …" then proceeded to downgrade me to $50pm plan. Took her 10 mins to do it all the while offering other internet and tablet deals. Lovely support lady with sweet voice from the Phillipines :)

    • Did you call or had a chat?

      • Called Telstra support 13 22 00 to finally get plan changed. 3x Chat on 24x7 app yielded no result other than a history of asking for $50pm plan which phone call support referenced. Support lady said that she'll wave the ETC with the $50pm plan change.

        • Great. Thanks for the info.. Been trying to get my partners' etc waived via live chat but none worked.

  • Successfully changed to MTM plan. Went through a dozen reps on chat via PC in mid and late arvo and nobody would do it. Did it throigh the app on chat just now and the first guy I got did it for me.
Keep trying if you're having no luck!

  • Ok so many got changed to MTM now we just need to get some kind of confirmation, staff told me can be up to 24 hours. My Telstra app still showing 60gb (should be just 15gb on $50mtm)

    • The app changed to 15gb almost instantly for me, but under plan its still showing JBHIFI $65 Plan…

      • damn then something wrong with my account..

      • Check on website, should be showing new plan. Also Clear app data and try it'll show new plan.

        • Nah something wrong with mine, website not showing any account/plan attached to my login. Rep is fixing this I'll just need to wait 24hours. He said something about double order

  • +2

Guys the jig is up lol, been trying every angle with the online chat for a m2m for a family member looks like they have been briefed about the jb deal as I spoke to every team and they all quote that deal, from cancellation to plans to billing to current orders.

    • Have you try this?

      clothoo on 29/10/2019 - 13:57
For anyone who wants to change the plan to month-to-month, you can actually do it in "My Account" and from "Plan Details", there's an option "Mobile & Plan Upgraded". From there, you can choose sim-only-plan. On the order page, you shouldn't see any early termination fees applied. So you can safely change it yourself. I just did it whith a Telstra rep walking me through and he confirmed there won't be any fees.

      • its not confirmed that it will add etc or not. even the guy who did it said he has to wait for first bill

    • Nope myan. It's still on. Just finished talking to a Telstra rep. They're gonna waive the ETC, changed me to $60 m2m. Might take 24hrs to process.

Edit: $60 m2m showing on my plan.

  • I’m unsure whether to bite the bullet or not, if you’re able to change to the $50mtm can you also get $10 port in credit to bring it down to $40mnm, or change to $45 and get $10 port in to bring it down to $35? Sorry for the questions i’ve never been with telstra or on a contract before. What’s the best and worst case scenario regarding the downgrade/change of plan pay $390etc and best case the etc fee gets waived? $65pm seems too much for me my budget would be between 35-50pm. Using a iphone 6s atm not sure whether to use the 6s or use the s10e if i go ahead with this or sell the s10e and get another apple phone. Any advice/tips/thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks.

  • Looks like your plan for 04xxxxxxxx has expired
    Plan early termination charge $0.00
    Device buy out $0.00

Did this 10 Minutes ago in my 4th attempt. Thanks Mr FU-Shen

  • +1

Happy day! It took me 2 attempt to changed to m2m plan, and both Telstra reps are very nice.
1st attempt: refuse to waived off ETC but she applied $20 discount to my JB Plan
But me being greedy, I still want to change it m2m so
2nd attempt: Agreed to waived off ETC as long as I go for higher plan which is $80 p/m. Nothing to complain with $30 difference as I plan to cancel after the first month. It takes 30 minutes for the rep to process and it immediately reflected on my account. Thanks Mr John.

    Merged from Telstra Plan Reductions

Just signed up to the Telstra $65/60Gb 12 month plan with the S10e through JB Hifi. A few people mention chatting to Telstra online and having the plan reduced (some to the $50MTM plan, whatever that is). Question is, how do you ask to have a plan reduction

  • I assume everyone is signing something at JB when they pickup the handset. Is the contract with JB Hi-fi or Telstra? And does moving plan within Telstra nullify existing contracts (possibly with JB, related to the phone / contract and $390 ETC)?

Will be interesting in the first bills when everyone moving MTM confirms they did / didn't pay ETC.

    • Telstra

      • +1

If anything were to come and bite back it would be the 390 ETC fee as per the contract which isnt that bad.

Total cost then would be 390 + 99 handset fee so 489 for a 1000 phone plus free ear buds.

If you had to pay and stuck for funds you can sell phone and earbuds for 500 easy.

        • +1

I just got my first 2 bills from the 2 phones I got last week, converted both to M2M via chat and had the etc waived. Both bills were $50.

  • Did anyone try to return the S10e and upgrade to a bigger model (S10 plus or Note) by paying the difference (e.g. ~$500 for Note 10)?
Few folks have mentioned in the Pixel 4 deal that they were able to go to another JB, return the smaller Pixel 4 and walk away with the bigger XL model by paying the diff ~$230.

    • I did today, was told there was no way they could do it.

    • +4

I did it yesterday. Got S10 plus
Earlier they said no but I explained that I really don't like s10e and don't want to miss out on this deal. I reminded him that its your policy to accept return for box packed phone and I will be paying extra for the upgrade. He still did not want to do it, so I just said "Can you please ask your manager if its possible. I really want S10 plus" with a smile. He went to ask someone and started processing in 2 minutes. port went through yesterday and got the phone. Not successfull in moving to M2M though.
      S10+ 128GB for $300 upfront

Just to be clear, I did all the talking before getting the deal, so didn't even get the S10e box. They did everything from their end and just gave me S10 plus

      • Right, thanks for the update.

    • You need to be lucky to find a store that doesn't really pay attention to your receipt. I tried once, the staff asked me if I got the device through Telstra plan and I pretend that I don't know by saying that it was a gift. The staff called the store where I got the phone from, then notice it was indeed from Telstra plan so they couldn't exchange it.

Also, I can't even exchange to other S10e with diff color, as they say that the phone IMEI for Telstra plan device is different hence couldn't be exchanged.

    Hi fellow ozbargainers
Whats the next step from M2M $50 to get my lebara back. They are running speacial atm.
    TIA

  • When was this pulled?

  • Got my S10e yesterday and change my plan online web account to $50 month to month. Now my account shows the $50 plan instead of jbhifi plan. Check the plan details and see:

Looks like your plan for 04xxxxxxxx has expired
    Plan early termination charge $0.00
    Device buy out $0.00

    Looks good.

    • +1

it shows your current plans early termination charge is 0 which is understandable, because you are now on the m2m. however it does not say or proof anything about the previous plan that you swapped over from which is the $65 12 month plan which does have a etc of $390 and that is why most people including myself went the route of online chat to get a transcript as proof if need be in the future.

      • It does say when you are changing the plan from JB to MTM. Up-front cost as 0, on the order summary page before you process it.

        • if that is the case than i guess better to wait for the bill?

          • -1

@striker5950: The 390 is Telstra's charge right? Because the Telstra tep on live chat said that it's Jbhifi charging for the device. She could downgrade but 390 can't be waived

            • +2

@sagrgar: Pro tip. Don't mention anything about device when chatting with Telstra. The device is jbhifi business. Full stop.
Telstra see this as byo plan.

  • Does anyone know how long you will get your first bill once you change over MTM plan?

    • 26th of each month apparently, 1 month in advance.

      • Thanks heaps, if sign up yesterday then you gotta pay a full month ($50) plus any pro rata days until you request cancel?

Do you cancel on Telstra chat or on our account details?

      • Indeed. The 1 month in advance scheme totally confuses me. It's supposed to be post-paid, not prepaid. Does it mean they will credit back unused days when you quit? Is there anyone who can explain it better?

  • So if you didn't cancel, on the 26/11 when the bill comes out you would pay pro rata amount from sign up date until 26/11 plus $50 for 26/11 to 26/12.

If you cancel this week you will get a bill at some point for pro rata sign up date to cancel date. That's how it was explained to me anyway.

    • Did you downgrade?

    • If I cancel now, I will still get a bill for $50(MTM plan)?
Not sure how the others do it since they change from JB $65 Plan to $50 MTM then cancel their plan the following day.

      • Yes I downgraded from $65 to $50 M2M and had etc waived. If you manage to get this and then cancel you will pay a pro rata of the$50 M2M for however many days you are on it.

        • I can cancel by porting to other carrier right?

          • @sagrgar: I think telstra charges you $8 for porting your number out

            • @kei: I haven’t heard of this, and wasn’t charge when I ported out.

  • How realistic is the option of selling the phone and buds and buying this just for the service? I imagine the S10e market might be a bit saturated right now.

    • Just go to eBay filter by sold item sort by recent. Done.

    • You will be lucky if you can sell it for $600-700.

      • Both phone and buds? I think if both, could be 800,900

  • Which gift is better? Do you prefer Google Nest Hub over Galaxy Buds?

  • Highly recommend the s10e procase from Amazon, about 10 dollars delivered and feels as good as spigen cases.
I bought nuglass screen protector from ebay and they have really poor screen coverage, any recommendations?

    • +1

Unfortunately good quality tempered glass for curved screen (especially Samsung Device) are difficult to find. Most aren't full screen adhesion or real tempered glass.

Your best bet would be UV Cured Screen Protector (such as WhiteStone Dome Glass) - just note, they are expensive.

      • The S10e is flat, not curved, though.

        • The edge of the screen are slightly curved, making it hard for screen protector to adhere.

          • @RichardL: Oh okay. Bummer. I ordered one off Ebay too. It hasn’t arrived yet. Have to wait and see.

          • @RichardL: I had this issue too. all you need to do is to apply oil (i use olive oil) by using cotton buds around the edge of the screen to fix it. it worked for me, try to find it on youtube. edit: e.g https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kidcD47sUT4

    • The problem I found with the nuglas is that it has black border that blocks a bit of the usable screen because the sizing is too small.

    • Link for the case please. Can't find it

  • Anyone able to claim the buds? How long did it take? 2 days and still says submitted. No update…

  • Great deal - Any particular reason the Pixel 4 deal is getting more attention? Why do people prefer this phone over the Samsung se10?

    • +2

      They think newer = better?
I think this is the better deal

    • +1

A few reasons why the Pixel 4 is getting more attention:

      • Posted first
      • Newer device
      • Can claim Google Nest Hub via Redemption
  • Is the s10e deal for black only now? Cause I notice that the white and green are now $1199. Would it appear for $1199 in the receipt if I choose white or green?

    • Was available in all colours.

Best to ask in-store, as the deal has been removed from the site.
