  • +1

    This or Sony in ear?
I know its subjective but would like to hear opinions.

    • +7

      Purely from MKBHD's review:

      Airpods Pro:

      • Case is smaller
      • Fast and wireless charging
      • Better Apple integration

      Sony's:

      • Sound better
      • Better noise cancelling
      • Longer battery life
      • Better app customisation
      • Cheaper
      • +3

But if you have apple then due to their ecosystem it would make more sense to buy Airpods due to the ease of pairing and other features.

        • +3

Pairing only needs to be done once per device.. Can't see that as a reason to sacrifice the other benefits

    • +1

I highly recommend Jim's Review Room's reviews on these two. He has been doing truly wireless earbuds reviews for ages and he always got good points and thorough tests.

      AirPods Pro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJ1vrNCemFc

      • +1

Is there a TL:DR for AirpodsPro?

        • +1

According to him the Airpods Pro has surprisingly good ANC capability and fits really good. Apple's design on these solves an issue with these in-ear earbuds with feeling pressure in the ear cannel, which is great if you are bothered by that. Another pro is that it integrates with iOS pretty well.
The downside comparing with the Sony's is that sound quality is less interesting but it does the job.

          • @becku: It did not solve the pressure feeling at all. Just returned one today, couldn't take the pressure on eardrums when ANC on.

Actually it isn't as bad as Bose QC35 but unbearable nonetheless

    • if you dont mind carrying a brick of a case then sony's for sure

      • is it really that big?

        • +1

it is, Airpods Pro case is nearly half smaller. I had both of them but sold the Sony

    • SuperMrBlob above is almost there, but 2 additional things on the airpods pro side:
      - Much better for calls
      - Transparency mode is much more natural and easy to engage

If you don't use it for calls, the Sony is much better value and sounds better for a lot less money these days. I've got the airpods pro because I'm on the phone all day for work and nothing I've tried so far come close to the airpods line for calls…

  • OMG thank you OP need this for my flight on friday !!!!

    • -4

Need? so you won't survive if you don't have these?

  • Does anyone know if they deliver to Australia Post Parcel Lockers?

    • +2

      no, they use couriers

  • +1

Friendly reminder max 2 gift card per order

  • What's good about these?

        • +22

you're quick to agree with someone who provides no facts to back up their claim… are your standards that low?

            • +5

@Seraph2052: Yeah, and I've heard of blind stupidity.

"Just renaming earbods to airpods or other fancy names (I've seen airdots as well!) does not make a new product." - airpods pro is clearly another product, not just a rename - are you blind? they even look different.

          • +3

@waterbottled: agreed, have you even tried them @Seraph2052.

              • +3

@Seraph2052: No, why do you ask?

                • -6

@Doovik: Because I think if people keep downvoting everyone who does not agree with them, we will all reach out limits pretty soon in this thread.

                  • +4

@Seraph2052: nothing to agree with you when you can't even physically see that airpod pros are physically different to previous airpods.

                  • +1

@Seraph2052: people are downvoting you, not everyone.

    • +5

Apple is rubbish for their anti-repair policy and reluctance to keep up with their competitors even they are at a higher price range. But from all I have gathered the Airpods Pro is actually a very good product with excellent iOS integration, comfortable fit and ANC that can be on par with the Sony WF-1000XM3. I don't like people blindly follow a brand but you've got to pick your battle, otherwise you are just at the same level as an isheep.

      • +1

I want to upvote and downvote. There should be a button for that.

      • -8

Do you expect me to say "iAgree iWith iYou" now? There's something good about them but cannot see the performance per price anywhere near it.

        • +4

Have you even tried them. And i never asked for your agreement so i don't see why i would need it.

          • -8

@Doovik: Then, it is all settled. Keep your downvotes for another battle!

  • +2

can't wait for eBay to put these as their eBay plus deal

    • +5

and be a waste of time to try

    • and release one per hour

      • +1

        • +1

exactly. I got many of the deals as well

  • OW price beat?

    • They don't price beat coupons, so I'm told.

      • Oh okay…. :(

  • +2
    • EDIT: Nvm, happy with delivery at $5 — and JB HiFi Commercial doesn't take gift cards, so I feel less terrible.. ha!

  • +1

Thanks! I got an iPhone 11 Pro and a pair of these from Apple to test them out to see if worthy of the upgrade (iPhone X and PODS 2)
Returned the phone and pods within the 2 weeks. Phone wasn’t worth it. But after going back to my pods 2. I prefer these and was awaiting a deal. Thanks again.

I had a hard time with the pods 2 not staying secure in my ears. These fit so much more securely for my ears.

    • +1

So the pro wasn’t worth it over the x? You saying I should just wait another year?

      • +1

Not in my opinion tbh. The green was a nice colour finish which I liked. The camera I was expecting to be great but it didn’t wow me. I wasn’t really impressed other than that. The X is still solid for now. I’d wait.

I recommend buying from Apple and test it for 14 days. They have a no trouble return process. I wasn’t even asked why I was returning it.

        • so Apple would refund you in full amount even if you used the phone and the AirPods for 14 days and had scratches on them? I feel bad doing this.

          • @willz: Yeah I did it with an Apple Watch. Don’t feel bad man. It’s all factored into the margins

          • @willz: Yes. You can confirm in store. Although I used/tested primarily in my home. Took it out to test the camera a few times. But I took care of it like it was my own. Obviously if it is mistreated or gets stolen/lost/broken assume you’d be liable.

          • @willz: Not if it has scratches on it. Only as new/perfect condition.

  • Here's what I did to stack:

(-) Corporate gift cards ($332.5) plus remainder ($14.10) on frenzy 10% and $5 delivery ($364.1)
    Sub-Total spend: $346.6

    (+) Shopback 3% on $364.1 for $10.923 return
(+) Tourist refund scheme for $36.41 return
    Sub-Total return: $47.333

    Expected price after discounts, rebates
    $299.267

    • +2

According to Shopback's t&c, cashback will not be paid on all Apple products

      • what? really? :((

        • +1

That's true for CR too. Sale simply will not track, and if it does, it will track at $0.

    • +1

You're getting a little too excited there. Tourist refund scheme does NOT include delivery charges and it isn't simply a 10% off the total price. In order to calculate the GST refund, simply add up your total (excl. delivery) and divide by 1.1. Therefore, $32.65 is the GST refund.

If the math was indeed correct then the more accurate price is $308.50 with the 5% corporate gift card, coupon code & TRS

      • I stand humbly corrected… cheers for doing the (proper) math :)

  • ShopBack gives me $0.00 Cashback unfortunately

    • Same
But when I click on the shopback app it show as calculating
      Hope SB rep confirm

    • Hmm did you use the app? It's not always instanenous

      • Yea I use the shopback app but it loads the TGG mobile website
I believe it should be tracked?

    • yeah same, maybe it's a bug?

    • +2

      "Other Terms & Conditions
Cashback will not be paid on the following brands; ASKO, Miele, AEG, Neff, Bertazzoni, La Germania, Falcon, and Apple. This includes all products for these brands."

      Sad :(

  • -8

Make them for probably $10 a pair, sell them for $400, profit!

  • Thanks OP, I got HN to price match and paid using discounted gift cards. Cost: $307.8

    • Dumb question: did you buy gift card just now or you had it before if you could tell me how did you got it in steps that will be great thanks:)

      • +1

I purchased gift cards beforehand using the deal I linked.
