  • Bathurst is probably the only store with Xperia XA2 available…

  • +12

The XZ for $129 is an absolute steal. A great phone with the SD820 SoC, fully waterproof and USB-C.

    • +1

      Good luck finding any stock.

    • Just bought one last week for $300 :'(. I was told it was one of the last ones in Sydney. Trying to find stock anyway now for a price guarantee 😅.

      • Are you sure it wasn't the XZ Premium that you bought? There was a deal on that recently.

        • +1

Nope, it was the normal one. $299 XZ. How much was the premium? I bought the XZ after seeing a deal on ozbargain. I believe the premium was $399.

  • +1

That's the ZTE Axon 7 Mini, not the Axon 7

    • +1

Cheers. Updated. been adding a few phones and updating as I go.

      • +6

Axon 7 (full size) is also there for $79

i miss the iphone 5/SE size phones

    • +7

I’m still holding out a fantasy that Apple will release full screen SE sized phone with Iphone 11 hardware next year.

I need something to replace my 2 year old X starting to heat up when being used.

    • Isn't the se 2 coming out soon?

      • +1

I’ve heard for many years, not sure if it will be introduced early 2020. Really look forward to it though.

      • really? that would be lovely. SE with full screen to body + iphone 11 camera = dream (just one camera not dual)

      • Rumours suggest it'll be in the iPhone 6 form-factor unfortunately …

    • I'm sticking with the Sony X Compact series but yeah, getting old.
And then more "modern" ones are so limited and expensive to import can't really consider them sensible options either like the Sharp Aquos R2 Compact.

  • Out of all them the Iphone and Oppo R17 will still have major future update.

  • +3

All three Sony phones here Xperia X, XZ, and XA2 are at a great price $99, $129, $199, and all three can install the Jolla Sailfish OS… if anyone is interested in that!!

    • +2

      Jolla Sailfish OS

Forgive my ignorance but what does that do compared to the stock OS that comes with it?

      • +2

        Here's a vid.
It's just an alternative, and it uses the same tools/code as you see on Native Linux Distributions (like openSUSE or Fedora) but it's optimised for ARM processors and touchscreen.

This is good to have more options in the market, and it's currently a distant third-runner. First is Android (with a whopping 80% market share), then iOS (at 20%). Librem/PureOS is a close fouth, alongside FirefoxOS/KaiOS, then Bada/Tizen. Windows Phone 10 which was third at 5%, is now at 0% (discontinued by MS). Other discontinued ecosystems/OSes include QNX/BBX, webOS, Symbian OS, and Windows Mobile.

        • +1

          Android 85.1, iOS 14.8%

    • +2

Unfortunately, they do not seem to support the XZ, just X and XA2.

    • +1

I run it on my X.
All the native apps are shit, so I'm always in the android compatibility later, which is stuck on android 4.4

I don't know why they bothered making their own shitty browser, instead of just compiling Firefox for their OS…

(I say this as a supporter who pays for the OS, imported their first handset, and loved the n900 and n9)

  • +7

HTC 10 was a great phone when it came out. For $99 it's tempting as a back up/secondary phone.

    • +3

Yep I managed to order one for $104 delivered. Hopefully it comes thru

      • +1

        You and me Both.

        • Luck people. I went for big bike ride and missed this sale for the most part.

I am using a HTC 10 as my main phone and love it more than three newer phones I bought lol.

          • +1

@ozhunter68: Well i bought it for my Aunt who is currently using a Iphone 4 so this will be a big upgrade.

            • +1

@Tehcookiemonsta: Still a good performer on Android Oreo now with decent camera and super solid build.

  • XZ and XZ2 not available online but potentially available in store, if you ask nicely :).

  • Thanks, just picked up my click and collect order of the axon 7 mini.

    • +1

I have one as a backup. The good: build, decent AMOLED screen, stereo speakers and dual sim. The bad: hit and miss fingerprint scanner, crap camera, very slow SOC 617. But I guess you can't complain about this low price.

  • +1

I had the XZ in my cart and it glitched on payment

    • +1

It's been doing that for a week now. It will go to Cart but check out would say "inventory issues". Least for me.

  • +10

Item(s) ready for pick up today within 1 hour of purchase at Elizabeth (2135.33km away).

I may have to ask the boss for a longer lunch-break.

  • +2

Got Axon (full version) and Xperia XZ2 (with Snapdragon 845). Picked up from Bathurst.. can be collected during my cherry picking trip to orange.. Happy days, thanks OP.

    • When did you order the XZ2? I added it to the cart, but when I proceeded to checkout, it's gone, and it kept loading…

      • May be half an hour ago, I can see no stock now unfortunately. Try another store perhaps.

        • -1

How much was the Xperia XZ2

          • @easternculture: Ah.. bugger. looks like I'm getting a refund, they emailed me 'no stock'. It was $229 which is an amazing price but guess I was bit too late unfortunately..

            • -1

@npnp: Damn. Was about to call around to see if I can source one

              • @easternculture: They said vic taralgon had 1 showing. Worker couldn't find it. But in my experience, sometimes they magically find it the next time you call. I Cbb as I've been at this for too long, so you could give it a shot!

            • @npnp: They messed up with me too, the bathurst store. They managed to find one, put it on hold. Then called back an hour later to say its already been put on a transfer earlier in the morning to another jb store.

    • Bathurst represent!

Oppo R15 or LG G7 ThinQ?

    • +1

Is this a legit question? LG G7 hands down. R15 is budget version of R15 pro. G7 is LGs last year flagship. Apple to orange

    • Double post

    • +1

Yeah, but 4GB RAM 64GB Storage v/s 6GB RAM 128 GB Storage and $100 less on Oppo R15 made me think.

      • Grab a 64bg micro card for $13. Can go even bigger or store everything on a cloud if you prefer.
        Ram will be negligible IMO.

      • +2

Yes, the chipset and the processor matter the most. Oppo R15 has Mediatek chipset, not a bad one but definitely not comparable with Snapdragon 835/845.

        • +1

          Thanks Whitelie and npnp…ordered a G7

  • +4

How do they still have new stock of such old phones? They even have the Xperia Z5 Compact, which came out 4 years ago. https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/sony-xperia-z5-compact-ha… (and priced higher than the Xperia XZ, which is 2 gens newer).

    • Because the pricing on older products is not usually updated and especially not to the degree we're seeing here. Displays in-store will be current range models and older stock units with low quantities are pulled from the website, as a result, customers don't know about them.

  • Apple iPhone SE 128GB only available for click and collect from:

    Mt Druitt NSW
    Morayfield HOME QLD
    Launceston HOME TAS
    Elizabeth SA

  • Thank you! I just ordered a Xperia XZ from Bundall.

  • Ordered a HTC 10, thanks op. I think its possible to update to android 10 if you look at guides online how to manually do it. Might do that down the track.

    • Good luck with HTC

First one I owned had the purple tinged camera

Second one I owner had the boot loop issue

      Never touching a HTC again

      • I have the original one, firstly the tinged camera and then everyone sounded a bit muffled, then the dual speakers weren't as loud. Loved the phone but in the end it frustrated me.

    • +2

Funnily enough HTC seems to be the most consistent phone company for me.

Have had 2 of the phones, recently got a third (U11) and they are all great.

      HTC One M8
      HTC One X10
      HTC U11 (preowned)

In my experience, I've found 2 LG phones I've had to suck. Plus Pixel 2 XL has a sleuth of issues 18 months on (made by LG).

  • Saw some good deals on some old phones but couldn't pull the trigger, despite every phone putting my Moto C to shame.

    We're almost in 2020…

    • +1

Not sure what you mean. If your in the market for upgrading an older low/mid range phone and don't want/can spend more than $200 then many of these phones would make a great upgrade even if a few years old now.

      • +1

My only requirements are battery life, dual SIM and ideally the ability to use my phone without running out of memory, the phone freezing and apps automatically getting ready to close one by one (thanks to 1 GB RAM and only 16 GB internal storage). But since I like to suffer I've held off for a year despite many alright deals below $200. Same goes for my laptop. I'm a save it for a rainy day type of guy when it comes to buying products, despite the chronic burden it may impose.

The only one left when I checked was Axon 7 which reputedly had poor battery life of less than a day. I'm hoping my requirements become more common in budget Australian phones in the coming months/years when my phone fails me. But it seems every good value phone will be undone by an update or some common hardware glitch soon after the warranty expires.

        • +1

Sure, I hear you with your reasoning and needs. If you can afford it, or push yourself to spend $200 or a bit more on a new/refurbished/used phone that ticks most of your most needed features, you will get a few years of good use out of it.

No need to waste money on things you don't need, but having faster CPU, more ram ( up to 3GB-4GB ), 32GB ROM, good quality screen, decent capacity battery, are all things you will get benefit from every day.

ill take one, i needed a trap phone anyways

    • +2

Thanks, will chuck a couple of free SIMs in here for things like Uber etc until the IMEI is blocked.
What a society we live in.

Speaking of e-waste, this reminds me about how my Pixel was $300 to fix and he just said "why repair, you can get a brand new phone for that".

      • +2

You need to be in bali to get it working. Its a 2G phone mate

        • Didn't read that ahaha
Looks like I'll be cancelling that c&c 😂

      • Basically just hope some sucker on eBay buys it, it is sad

  • Iphone se not available in vic & also not available for delivery

  • Zte Axon 7 for $79 is a steal. Managed to get one. Thanks OP.

  • Pixel 3a WHEN

    • +1

Lol, the Pixel 3a is holding its value better than the Pixel 4 is.

      • seriously what is this!?!?

        • +2

Pixel 3a is the best bang 4 buck handset for normal people IMO. You get decent hardware, the latest Android updates, no bloatware, and the best camera of a non-flagship phone. And despite snobs poo-pooing plastic cases, plastic is more practical for day to day use than glass or aluminium.
I've had my 3a XL for about 6 months and if I had to replace it I'd buy another immediately.

          • +1

@1st-Amendment: im still being a cheapass and waiting for a deal, i dont REALLY need a new phone but when I do pull the trigger itll be the pixel 3a :) thanks for the comment

do they all have sht slow processors?

      • -8

tell me exactly which 1 doesnt have sht slow processors 2 gens behind

  • +2

HTC 10 is still available: JB Hi-Fi
iPhone SE silver as well: JB Hi-Fi

    • Until you try to check out, its available. "not available for your delivery location", but also "not available for c&c).

      • I’m able to checkout? I’m in VIC..

        • +1

I'm in nsw. I can check out but in checkout, that message displays as soon as I enter my address. But then it doesn't allow click and collect either. The product page shows c&c is available at certain locations (all a couple hundred km away from me).

  • I ordered an Xperia XA, XZ, Axon 7 and a HTC 10 for delivery earlier today, only the Axon is showing in my order as "fulfilled" so far. Don't have high hopes about the rest of em.

  • +2

Where did they get this stock from? Did they find some pallet that had been sitting in a corner for the last 4 years? They're selling phones that have been discontinued for years: Galaxy S5, Galaxy S6, Note 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X.

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/samsung-galaxy-s5-16gb-bl…
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/samsung-galaxy-s6-edge-64…
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/samsung-galaxy-note-5-32g…
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/huawei-nexus-6p-64gb-silv…
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/motorola-google-nexus-6-3…
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/lg-nexus-5x-32gb-black

The site seems to let you go through to checkout with them too.

    • Last time they did this with cameras, it was a bunch of ex demos units.

      • +1

Luckily, in this case, all phones should be sealed. Demo phones are not sold.

  • +1

The R15 Pro was probably one of the best deals in their clearance section. Axon 7 would've been the best bang for buck for sure.

    • It wasn't the Pro.

      • +1

Nah there was a Pro (not in the OP list) too. I think it was $349 or something. Didn't last long. The JB Hifi email came out at like midday. This was posted about 2 hours later.

        • Was that Jb email sent out to their customer email list, or just to stores maybe?

          • @ozhunter68: well I am only a customer.

            • @CVonC: Cheers. So am I, but did not get any email, hence thought to ask.

              • +1

@ozhunter68: Weird.. I'm just subscribed to their newsletter.

PS the R15 Pro was only $229! Cheaper than the R15

  • Am I the only one who looks at the deal thumbnail first and thinks it's about a smashed phone screen? :P

  • If anyone bought a htc10 on a whim but doesn't really need it please let me know. Just smashed my phone screen, it's utterly non responsive
