  • How good are those compared to ballistic one's?
    Thx

    • +3

G.Skill are the best RAM brand, imo.

They also have lifetime warranty on all their RAM, and they don't even require proof of purchase. Just send it in and they'll send some back.

      • Thx do you know how tall the heat sink is? I've got a noctua and I'm no to sure if it will fit even put the fan up.

        • On my D15S, the heatsink clears the RAM spreaders (I use the same Gskill RAM), but since I wanted a dual-fans for a Push-Pull config, I had to mount the fan slightly higher.

          • @diaz: Perfect so it will fit in thank you for that I bought 2x kit so just hoping I can get 3400Mhz when I update my R5 2600 to a R 3000 series.
Have you done any OC on that memory?

            • @Femelo: No mate, didn't bother.

      • +3

Not necessarily. G.Skill can use variety of RAM manufacturers. You could land up with a Hynix kit. The Ballistix kits are viewed as the best bang for buck and quite good overclockers. I know because I own a 3600 C15 G.Skill kit, which is Samsung and a 3200 c16 kit which is Hynix.

        • I am using g.skill 3200 c16 kit which is Samsung. It is not Hynix.

      • send to overseas ?

G.Skill are the best RAM brand, imo.

They don't do anything different to any other brand.

They don't make what they sell, they create marketing and heatsinks with silly notches in them which impresses people.

        • +1

          Works for me.

  • $109 at MSY
Looks like pretty decent memory for money, overclocking probably not a great option though.

    • So do you reckon it cannot be pushed at 3400mhz?
BTW I've got a ryzen 2600 in a tomahawk Max. And next year will update the processor to a 3000 series that's why asking about the memory speed.

      • i heard 3000 series sweet spot is 3600mhz

        • Yeah but if I cannot push the memory to 3600mhz better ask if at least go to 3400mhz.

  • Should I get these and ditch my Ballistix Sport LT DDR4 3000 for a Ryzen 3600 build?

    • I think you would be wasting your money. What are the timings of your Ballistix LT?

      • 15-16-16.

        • +1

Thats fine. Not worth the $88 to "upgrade"….better off putting that money elsewhere.

        • I managed to overclock that to 3600Mhz C14.

    • I wouldn't. Timings are a bit tighter on the Ballistix Sport LT DDR4 3000, doubt you'd notice a difference in performance.

    • your micron E-die probably can push to 3600mhz Cl.16

      • Sweet…I'll be keeping them then!

    • Just don't ditch dual channel for single channel, that'll impact you alot more than a few 100Mhz

      • Hmm I plan to run 4 x 8GB sticks…is that still Dual Channel?

        • +1

Only works in dual, not quad. 2 x 16gb should offer the same performance as 4 x 8gb sticks with the same specs.

          • @CitizenCane: 2x16gb will be dual rank and dual channel and will put more stress on the memory controller. Overclocking potential should be a little less than 2x8gb single rank.

  • Currently running 2400 16gig, will these make a big difference in performance in my Ryzen 5 2600? 90% of the time it's used for surfing the net, and using office. Occasional light gaming.

    • +2

      about 1% difference.

  • seems only 1 left

    • lol not anymore - "This item is out of stock."

  • +2

    Back in stock :)

  • With dual channel, can you run 4 of these? 2 per channel?

    • +1

You can run four sticks in dual channel mode. Only AMD and Intel HEDT support quad channel with four or more sticks.

      • I ended up getting 2x 2x8 kits instead, to fill all the DIMMS and ensure compatibility

thank you OP, building a budget video editing PC myself. havent build it for ages, this will be my 1st proper windows unit since the last 5+ years
