Any this is why I wound never get a Sony LED. https://youtu.be/HTaeZ70mzIk?t=357

  • Are the x8000s any good?

    • +1

X85G is worth the extra $$

      • +1

Local Dimming makes a big difference!

    • I got my 65inch x8000g last month's eBay deal through The Good Guys for $1170 and for that price I'm happy with it.
I like the look and feel of Sony TVs

  • So tight.

  • +3

    das toight

  • +5

The x95G was on sale for $1299 from Sony around 2 weeks ago, for the record

    • +7

      Also 85" 8500G was $3196 at end of October… https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/493195

I was holding out for BF but now I think I've made a mistake..

      • I was thinking about holding out for BF too toughen, but thankfully pulled the trigger last month and bought the 75"X950G off Bing Lee ebay store with 20% off code for $3200 incl del. Been praying I didn't make a mistake and thankfully so far I haven't seen it cheaper. :)

        • You got an awesome deal, feel proud!

  • After amex offer, 65"X95G for $2460 is a good price?

    • +8

No, it's been sub 2k previously with 20% off ebay. It was literally 2,395 just a few days ago and was raised for black friday.

    • +4

It's $2156 in Bing Lee eBay Store with P20LEE code, much cheaper if you can C&C or get it delivered

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Sony-KD-65X9500G-65-4K-Ultra-HD-…

    • +4

Nope. An insult for Black Friday since it's hit $2k a couple of times previously

    • Thanks to all above!

    • +3

Bit of a flaw with ozb when the deal has multiple items - you don't really know which item has been upvoted. The X95 65" is not a bargain.

  • Have they improved android tv in sony?

Android on my sony is slow. Wi-Fi takes time to connect after going off standby. Tv sometimes freezes

    • got an x95g 2 weeks ago - previously used 8500C. Its much, much faster. Its what the first one should have been from the start.

  • +3

Waiting for the 75" X95G to be sub $3K tha's when I'm pulling the trigger . Looks like i will have to wait until next year

  • Is the X95 a considerable improvement on the previously popular X90F?

    • No I don't think so based on some reviews I read.

    • Not considerable but slight improvement. Couple hundred nits brighter and better tone mapping, so HDR is better. Minimal improvement in upscaling lower res. Android is quicker but other sets can be upgraded aswell. My X9300E has always been good for Android, no lag or freezing etc. Think it was just lower models that struggled because they didn't have the better chip. Includes EARC and all HDMI ports are 2.0 instead of just two on X9000F. If you've got the X9000F no point getting the X9500G.

  • KD65X8500G is cheaper at David Jones $1299 and BigW $1249(low stock)
    Edit: plus delivery
Edit 2: whoops never mind, completely different model when I searched pricehipster. sorry

  • +1

so is there a FURTHER 5% cashback on the TA price column?

    • I’d like to know this as well, confused by OP’s post

    • as the 43" 80G is $755 (TA Price) - im hoping that another 5% cash reward on TOP of that comes down to $717.25 !!! Winning!

      • I've just bought one of this. Note that when I was at Sony Store at Chatswood they were offering 10% off as well (not advertised).

      • +2

TA just PM'd me and said "Yes, 5% cashback is on top of the discounted price!"

        • Yep got that too from TA.

  • No deals on the Sony RX100 VII :(

  • -2

Picked up the 75” X85G yesterday at Costco in Melb for $2299. Hope you’re proud of me TA.

  • Could Sony's model numbers be more confusing?

    • +4

Ignore the KD, the first number is the size eg 55 = 55, 65 = 65
The next letter is type eg X for LED, A for OLED
The next numbers are the series 7000, 8000, 9000 etc bigger is better
Last letter in Generation eg G is this year, next year will likely be H

      • Thanks. Too lazy to look it up. The reason I'm saying they're confusing is that people are naturally going to associate X70 with 70 inch, when in fact as you've described, it's the letters that get omitted that are the size.

  • +4

Sony TVs are cheaper in Bing Lee eBay Store

    • They won't ship to Perth unfortunately…. :(

    • Yes except if you have Amex then you can get another $100 off for more than $600 spend. So definitely need to do the sums on this. Also Sony has free shipping.

  • +1

What's the difference between X70G, X80G, X85G, etc? I had a look through the specs and they seem virtually the same

    • +2

They have different processors - the higher numbers have a more powerful processor.

The higher model numbers tend to have local dimming with more zones, while the cheaper ones are just edge lit.

I think the lower models (ie 7XXX, 6XXX) don't have Android TV, just a a few built in apps (eg Netflix / YouTube).

    • +3

I recently found this page, which has excellent detail. It's based on the US models but you can generally figure out what the Aus equivalent model is.

55" X95G is $1299 on the Sony eBay store. (Box damaged). Depends if having a perfect box and potentially less hassle is worth +$310.
Anyone know if paying direct on eBay with AMEX (not via PP) would trigger the $100 cashback?

    • +1

Have to be sony au official store

  • Looking at the 55" models… how big is the difference between them? Not really sure what I'm looking for in a TV, this is to replace one from like 2010.

    • +1

55" @ 4K is a good size for a decent picture with higher pixel density.

The bigger the screen the larger the pixels on lcds, and the more noticeable it is. Personally, I would wait for 8K for anything larger than 65" as I prefer a better pixel density for that size screen.

  • +1

    Still no x95g 65" :/

  • is the sound quality on the X95 as bad as they say?
    https://www.techradar.com/sg/reviews/sony-x950gxg95-4k-tv-xb…

    • +6

No idea, but youd have to be nuts to be using built-in sound with a TV like this.

      • Gotta be nuts using in built sound on any TV. Even high end sony OLED's that have the acoustic surface.

    • Depends on how you look at it. It's the best sound I have ever heard from a TV, but it won't replace external speakers.

      • Really? Techradar says "It has some of the worst sound quality of any mid-range TV in 2019, bad enough to almost ruin the overall experience."

  • +2

How does the x85g go vs a hisense r8?

  • +1

About 3 weeks ago, when Sony lowered their prices for 2019 models, I jumped in on the GoodGuys 20% off deal and got the 55X80G for $796 pickup, no problems in an SVU. Seemless connectivity to WiFi, multiple bluetooth connections, Google speach works well, Google Play, Youtube, has direct Netflix, in a nutshell, impressed, does everything I want and more. Can totally recommend this 55" smart TV as good value for money.

That purchase pushed me into today's update of the other old Sony TV (2008), with the 65X85G from BingLee at $1276, this looks to be great value for money, thanks Sony, thanks BingLee.

Note:- was really tempted to get the 65"OLED for $3200 but I'm also a tightarse :)

    • $1,335 with Amex/Cashback/Discount code vs $1316 with BingLee for those who want to know.

Still unsure whether to go for Hisense or another TV at a similar discount

  • Wanted to get the 55A9G however it was much cheaper a few weeks ago from Sony during click frenzy at $2999 Delivered.

  • +1

    Thanks TA,
I bought KD65X8500G from Harvey Norman with 48 months product care and free delivery for $1698.00, I've to asked them to price match Costco ($1399.99), they have refused to bit that but they reduce their price and product care.

  • +1

Thank you TA - just bought my folks an early Christmas present. A 55" X80G is a massive improvement over their old 42" Panasonic.

  • +1

Are any of these good deals? The one I was interested in was the KD43X8000G which is $755 here. It was $636 four weeks ago: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/493739

  • Toll seem to have misplaced my 75" X95G. How do you lose a 75" tv!?!?!?!?!?!!

    • wow has yours shipped already? Lucky you.

(Shipped but lost if you know what I mean :S)

      • I bought one of the "reconditioned ones" there was only one left so I didn't list it. It was a couple of days before this sale. I only just got the tv today from Toll. So its taken almost 2 weeks as it was left in the "unsorts" section which is supposedly where all the too big to deal with items go first.

The box was definitely opened but I swear the TV inside is brand spanking new. Not a mark, blemish or even dust. Still protective plastic film on the boarders, remote, stand etc all still sealed in original bags.

I bought a reconditioned camera and floor standing audio system from Sony before they were definitely used. Camera was still defective in my opinion and managed to return it. Perhaps this was a return where the person didn't even open the set and then had to be opened and checked by Sony. I definitely got lucky with this as paid only $2289

  • pulled the trigger thanks @OP - your the reason ill have a better viewing experience, fingers crossed for cashback :)

  • Anyone get their TV's from this sale? I haven't received any tracking information or anything!

    • Got delivered today without warning.

Didn't get any updates after the order was accepted/processed in the first 24 hours. Website status still not even up to the Dispatched stage.

      Expect the unexpected.

      • Same got it also! Not even a tracking number provided!

  • I picked up my 65x85g direct from Bing Lee last Saturday and have been enjoying it all week, wasn't prepared to wait for delivery - no problems fitting into an SUV with rear seats down.

  • TVSN is selling now for $1995 + I think $50 postage for the 65" 9500g
