As an owner of both the Vive and the Quest I can say that for the price point the Odyssey+ is a hell of a deal for a hell of a good headset.

  • I'm so tempted by this as an upgrade to my Dell Visor. The Dell is super comfortable for me and I've heard this one can put an odd pressure on your forehead, but the resolution is great and I like the idea of built in headphones. I'm guessing though that my PC would struggle to push the resolution since I think I'm about capped on my 1060.

    • The resolution is very similar. Probably a waste of money for a minor upgrade, save for something next 'gen' imo

      • what dell viser

just a different headset also using Windows Mixed Reality. There is lots of brands/headsets but most people say the best one for WMR and cheaper than the mainstream headsets is this deal, the Samsung Odyssey+. You can do more research, just type Windows Mixed Reality VR headsets into google and look around. The cheaper ones though do cut back in alot of areas.

      • I agree, I'd love something with better controls (u.e. vive knuckles) so I think that is what will keep me from upgrading.

  • Probably a good idea to get a case for this, I've had to move twice and while I wasnt rough with the bag since it had all my tech gadgets in it, the hinge on these WMR visors is fragile and now it doesn't register when the visor gets flipped down anymore, rendering it useless.

    • While a case is a good idea, this headset doesn't have a hinge (it's fixed).

  • oops, bought, half life here i come!

  • Nice, upgrading from an acer headset, hopefully its worth the upgrade.
    Thanks op

  • Purchased yesterday. How long until ShopBack emails confirm cash back? I usually use Cashrewards.

  • Awww i got ripped.. lol, Didn't think it would get better then $410 AUD ever "blackfriday or just would stop being sold"

    • don't feel too bad. I know it can feel saddening but it happens. One time I bought Sekiro PS4 off Amazon AU for $79 and the very next day Amazon AU decided to discount it to a whopping $40. I was really peeved. But what can you do. It pays to be eternally patient I think. Even if a deal takes months and months, the patient person will win out.

…sometimes you might be too patient and then the product becomes impossible to find! Ah Straya.

        • Yeah like the 3D versions of the OLED tv's ..4k OLED 3D last one was in 2016 and i have it
or the rare 3D VISION 2 by NVIDIA, had to get that as well before that sold out and now people can only find it used

  • Is it possible to have this setup in your living room, when you PC is in a different room, via steam link or something?

I've looked into many different options but they are all really pricey. The most affordable length I got was a 5m USB 3 extension and 5m HDMI 2.0 extension on top of the 4m existing length. That totaled around $45 worth of cables. The USB had to be plugged into a powered/charging port for the signal to work too. The USB 3.0 cable has to be capable of 900mA of power through the USB, and the HDMI cable must be 2.0 or greater to get 90hz.

Optical solutions with powered end points for USB is your only options for 10+m but that would total $200-$300 to achieve at a minimum.

      • You can make your own cables, just be sure for correc polarity, but longer the distance means bad latency

      • Offt, I was really hoping to avoid a situation where you gotta run super long cables, makes me wish I didn't build my computer in such a large enclosure.

I honestly don't see why there isn't a more elegant product out there because surely there are many people out there with similar problems.

I just thought you could stream it elsewhere somehow like how I played skyrim VR on my phone (Samsung gear vr)

  • Hey i this now the current standard price for this HMD? Because amazon isnt showing the slashed price

This is useful to see how good it is .. though not on the chart its the same as the HTC VIVE PRO so just look at that one

  • Price dropped to $371.22

  • Went to grab one but the deal appears to be off now.

  • It's back

  • Anyone else having issues with their glasses fogging up when busting off? I keep having to remove the headset and wiping my glasses. They should incorporate better airflow with the next model.

    • Might be a good idea to invest in a fan its generally when your hot that it fogs up.

  • Received my one today. Definitely an upgrade from PSVR imo. Tried my hand at thrill of the fight boxing, haven't had a workout like that in a long while!

  • had this for 2 months highly recommend but BHP had it even cheaper

    • Most people got 12% cashback with this deal so I doubt it was cheaper.

  • Really hope we see this deal again. Im holding out for something in that price range for when Half Life Alyx comes out!!!
