    • My App is reporting I need to turn off wi-fi, although I am connected to Boost for data and wi-fi is off.
I think they are having a few problems with the demand :-/

      • It looks like they don't have a system wherein you can create an account and login using username and p/w. You need to check the usage on their app (on the same device) and it works when you're connected to the data but not wi-fi. Happy to be proved wrong.

    • +3

You can also use #100# from the device. It doesn’t matter if wifi is on or off either.
And yes the app is very flaky at the moment and not giving me figures either.

    • Ahh:
From the e-mail, sent to a different address linked to another number rather than the one I gave them on activation:

"Recharge, check your usage/balance and set up auto recharge using any of the following:
APP - download from App Store; Google Play
ONLINE - care.boost.com.au from your phones browser
CALL - #111# from your Boost phone
OTHER DEVICES - boost.com.au/recharge from another device"

Hope this helps. It'll save me from swapping data SIM [dual SIM phone] or fiddling with the wi-fi if I need a quick check.

      • Far as I know the first 3 you need to be on Boost. The last one only allows you to recharge and not check your account.

        • I'd guess the lack of a username/password would cause that, the info being tied to the phone number.

  • Does anyone know if calls to South African mobiles are included?
With Skype I can call landlines but not mobile phones in South Africa. Does the same apply to Boost?

    • Yes South Africa is included but not sure about mobiles:

Unlimited International Standard Calls & Text To 25 Selected Destinations:
Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, Usa, Vietnam

      • I've read their website.

It doesn't specifically mention that mobile calls to South Africa are included, so I want to be sure.
(This is the main reason I would get Boost).

        • I noticed that there are a couple of versions of the list for intl calls. They asked me to check Critical Information Summary on their site, which should be the most updated. https://boost.com.au/shop/150-prepaid/

        • +2

Sadly the "standard calls" wording is a bit vague. I would assume it includes mobiles, but I could be wrong…

If you give me a South African mobile number I could try calling it?

        • +1

I can make international mobile call to Vietnam just fine so i would think it would be ok for South Africa since they are in the same set of group.

    • Yes SA works, I regularly call mobiles from my Boost prepaid sim

  • What's the porting like these days?

I remember seeing old posts that it can sometimes take multiple weeks…

    • I ported from Kogan Mobile to Boost about 10 days back - took 1 hr.

    • Recent ports from Kogan and Belong have been under 15 minutes - however YMMV

    • Took about 40 minutes from Kogan - however I am still waiting on the e-mail, and it looks like Kogan don't bother with the "We have recieved a request.." thing, or are a bit snowed under as we head down the guy-rope..

    • depends on provider, some take only 5 minutes while others 1-2 hours in my experience. I have done few catch-amaysim-kogan-catch-circles-vodafone and never had problems.

  • There are 12 in Chadstone and 7 in Maribyrnong
Just called up headoffice to place order for C&C

  • Just keep in mind, surprisingly boost coverage is not as good as it was for me before, within the same area

    • Are you near a tourist, shopping or bush-fire saftey zone? It can depend on how many people are using the towers. In the Marion libray I was getting 25MB/s on Kogan and 312Kb/s with Boost, not the norm I can assure you…

      • +4

Will be the norm if the government continues to wave the climate issues away and do nothing.

      • not really…and this happened to two of us both at work and home

  • +1

does this work with 3g enabled apple watch?

  • Is there a way to add more data to this if 80GB isn't enough? do they sell data topups? couldn't see anything on their site about it..

    • No option for data top up.

      • so what happens? no data?

        • Yes.

You can recharge but that will be for the whole/full service — and not just data

    • Boost has its traps. Its good if you can live within the parameters, but its not very flexible. 28 day cycles month to month, unless you organise direct debit, then its paid month to month on the same date each month. But then try to change plan mid period, you know being wise and giving some notice and they tell you you will lose the current credit as they can only do it there and then. Apparently we dont live in an age of technology. So you have to call back the day before, like I am today.

  • is the 80GB given up front?

    • Yes. As some has said previously, you can finish off the 80GB in a day if you want (or if you're not careful).

  • Is the 80gG data rationed on a per month basis or can it be used in one go?

    • It can be used in one go, however you may be better off waiting to see if the Kogan $5 for the Xtra Large [40Gb] SIM starts popping up again. I'm hanging onto one that expires the end of this month.

      • Thanks for the info.

  • Perfect timing, my 24 months Optus plan expired last week, thanks for the post.

  • +1

Just rang boost and they told me they will not have any blank sims for 3-4 weeks and to buy a $2 sim or pay the $135 online one and they will transfer your Telstra number over to boost. They have been told this buy management.

    • Useful to know.

  • +1

I’ve just ported over to boost with similar deal, just wondering how do u recharge at this price after 1 year?

    • +1

You'll need to wait for specials on the recharge vouchers rather than SIM kits. Some should come up over the year.

  • My current contract winds up March 1st. I use roughly 120-140gb of data per year. I see Boost has a 6 month sim (150gb) for $150.

Kogan has one for about $200~

Is there a decent 12 month expiry sim for roughly the 140gb mark?

  • +4
    • Not smart keeping this deal only for new customers. I suppose everyone is migrating from Optus to Boost at this stage.

  • +2

My OZB $120/60gb Optus expires at the end of the month. I called into an Optus store a couple of weeks ago and was told it was $180 to renew. I guess I, and many others, will be porting over the next few weeks

    • I'm in exactly the same situation. Happy hunting for the next good 12 month deal

  • Just wondering I have 2 mobile numbers under my name from Optus. Can I port both numbers over or just one. Thanks.

    • You can port both numbers.

  • How do you port over from "Optus Prepaid Epic Value" to this… do I need an Optus account number? I have a MyAccount login on Optus but can't for the life on me find the account number?

    Thanks!

    • I can find my account on https://www.optus.com.au/my-account or on previous invoices.

      • +1

Yeah - but prepaid customers can't see those.

It's okay I contacted their online chat and they provided me with the account number.. I asked and prepaid customers can't see their account numbers by default.

        • +1

Thanks for the info. I just got in touch to ask for my account number and they want to charge an $8 admin fee for this!

          • +1

@ufohunter: We just went on live chat through their site yesterday and they gave us both our customer numbers… hope you got yours, what a jip!

            • +1

@beebul: Cheers. I ended up saying that other pre-paid users had been given their account numbers on request and also pointed out that I'm pre-paid so they wouldn't be able to bill me. They then gave me an account number to provide to another telco and "check once" (whatever that means) so I hope it works.

  • Do we know about the activation date?

  • Just a question, if you buy the $35 dollar SIM, from what Ive read they can transfer the credit to an existing SIM if you ask, but not this one? Theres no warnings on the SIM that they are for new customers or new numbers only.

I thought that was half the purpose of the packs. Eye sight, advertising, impulse buying. I get they have a $2 SIM, and a recharge voucher, but I never buy vouchers anyway as its auto debit. It would be real easy for me to go to Coles, OW whatever see one of these packs and buy it to transfer to my existing account.

So my question is this, whats the chances that if you already have the SIM pack, they will of course transfer the credit instead of refunding it… but if you ask if they can before you buy, they will tell you they cant? Seems odd they can transfer from one prepaid pack, but not another.

Im guessing if you 'accidentally' bought the pack, they would have to transfer it or refund.

    ???????????

  • Thanks OP was waiting for this deal. :)

    • Yeah, what he said!

  • Is VOWifi or wifi calling available on Boost, I keep reading different answers.
I can't receive calls inside my house so this would be a major bonus.

    • Yes but that depends on the device you use (apparently, Telstra has to offer a set-up, which they only do if they sell the model). For instance, it's not available on my Huawei P20 Pro.

  • Sorry if this has been covered before, can't seem to find any info:

What's the quickest way to port out of boost and then back into boost? Do you need to be off the boost network for a period of time before you can port back in?

    Cheers!

  • How does this work if I'm with Telstra? I thought I needed a blank sim but when I called the other day I was told they don't do that anymore. Do I need to get a $2 sim first or can I just buy this deal?

  • sorry newbie question. Will Boost be sending a Nano sim card?

    • +1
      • that's great thanks!

  • I am looking for a sim for a Spacetalk watch. Will need roughly 300mb data per month according to packaging. Having 6.67g/b per month seems overkill; but I haven't really been able to find anything else; does anyone else know any other options. I'd prefer not to have to do a swim swap every month if I can avoid it; and it also seems very weird that I paid $128.25 for my own plan (135 less 5% discount for G/C), and I'll pay $135 for an 8yo!

  • I am interested to subscribe to this deal. Few years ago, I have issue with sending SMS from ALDI mobile(Telstra network) to Optus' network, and the message was usually delayed for a few hours. Is there anybody having this delay now, or this isn't any issue now?

Thank you for your comment as I do not want to receive SMS hours after due to different network.

  • -1

I don't know…. $135 sounds an awful lot when you can use 80GB up in one day….streaming just videos….or even downloading shit - which will be relatively fast with 4G….doesn't look that great of a deal….

    • +1

This deal is for people that know how to manage their data.

I have 17 days left on a 365 Optus plan and have 35GB left out of a total 60GB. I use a lot of wifi and download video music before heading out.

      • +2

Or know how to set limits within their phone settings so that their plan acts just like a regular data cap…

        • Mine sometimes go over regardless of the data cap….so optus charges me more for going over….so I have to cap it halfway before the actual data cap I have for my plan….

      • Sure, I could just save it all for a rainy day…but then there's the expiry date I need to worry about….I'm guessing it's all gonna go poof once that date rolls over, mmm?

      • Im down to 28GB and 10 days to go. No self control. Seriously, annual plans are terrific for those that have access to wifi most of the time, and have periods without. We travelled for several months last year. One month I used 8gb, my wife 11gb. its usually less than a GB. Great solution. (And yes, ive set alerts for when we go over the average quota)

  • Anyone know if the call centre is Oz based on overseas?

  • Someone please tell me why am I still on a 15 gb postpaid plan ($30) with Optus?

    • +5

      Laziness?

      • +3

        "Brand Loyalty"

  • I'm already a Boost customer (primary number), but want to port a second number from Aldi to Boost - will this work?

    • Yes. You can have multiple boost accounts.

Local Officeworks stores show nil stock so decided to try 1300 phone Price Beat for the first time. Process was straightforward and staff member very helpful. SIM will be delivered from their warehouse to my local store tomorrow for $128.25. 10 out of 10 for Officeworks and Price Beat.

  • been pulled from officeworks all taken off racks as well

    • You can beat that by ordering over the phone 1300 633 42.

    • officeworks rats. ACCC should hit em on their fake slogan, which only applies when it's convenient.

  • Been trying to buy $135 sim today on Boost web page, paying via PayPal. Just will not work. Get sent back to same page and nothing is coming out of PayPal account. Tried 3 times over 3 hours . Anyone else having problems?

  • +2

Those looking to get them frm Officeworks, WA SOR, Jandakots out but O'Connor & Cannington still have a bunch. Just picked one up this morning with 5% pricebeat. Happy days!!

    • Me too! Wifey helped me this morning to pick up the $150 sim card from Cannington officeworks with 5% pricebeat.

  • This has been mentioned before but Southern Telecom at Southern Cross station in Melbourne is currently selling these for $125 each. Bought 2 today.

    • +1

I believe they also have a website where you can make an offer on these and get free shipping on all orders over $99.

      • tovmobile.com.au
Online price is $130, but you have to make an offer.

        • Are they legit? Might try offering $125. I'm assuming the price offered is inclusive of postage?

  • +1

Wow Optus screwing over their existing customers W $180 for 60GB, makes sense to port to Boost when my Optus prepaid expires

  • Are 1300 & 1800 numbers considered standard and part of UNLIMITED calls to standard numbers?

  • Bought 2 today from Officeworks Subiaco, they had plenty in stock.
Expiry date of 28 April 2021.

  • im on kogan, looking to get this deal.

whats the quickest way to get going? ie. can i possibly get a boost sim in a store somewhere and get this deal?

    • Price matching with click and collect at Officeworks, and you may need to call the on-line number [1300 633 42]. If your local store has merely inadvertently fails to restock the shelf and there has been an outbreak of amnesia among staff, it'll be ready for collection in a couple of hours, otherwise it's a "Con the fruiterer" situation.

      ["Couple a days" for none-boomers…]

  • I bought the Boost SIM package online for my wife but have not yet activated. I am porting in from Amaysim for which i recall i had used my License for IDV.
During the Activation/Port In, can i activate the Boost SIM using Wife's license for IDV ? OR have to use mine?
Also if i had to use mine, can i buy and activate another SIM using the same ID if in future i decide to join Boost myself?

    • Wife and I had two mobiles with Tpg a year ago. Both under my name. Then I went Optus (345 days ago) and soon after, ported the wife’s account to boost. Figured it was an opportune time to put it in my wife’s name. Ie her licence. Still waiting for the port a few days later. Contacted boost and they said that the port had to be in my name (as it had been with Tpg), tho once migrated , I could change the owner to my wife’s. (haven’t yet). I will be porting across too as Optus want $180 for 60gb. (Not gonna happen)

      • Thanks mate.
I 'll do the same. Activate using my iD now to avoid hassles.
Will do the transfer of ownership later.
        Cheers.

  • Took me only 8 minutes to port from Tesltra to Boost
    Didn't need a blank sim!

Called boost this morning and the lady was very friendly. As soon as I got off the phone (asked for my number I wished to port, D.O.B and license number) the card worked immediately. Very impressed.

    • Are you with Telstra prepaid or postpaid? I’m trying to port over as well for my friend but his on postpaid so porting to Optus first then to boost

  • Called Officeworks just now and they are completely out of stock even in their warehouses. So, price-beat with OW not an option right now.
