Changed from TPG last weekend (on Sunday) - did online form and went out to get groceries. Whilst picking up groceries I got notification of connection (so <30mins). I have FTTP so TPG remains active until I close the account on Uni-D 1 and ABB activated on Uni-D 2.

      • Thanks for the info. I just switched over to ABB and the whole process took less than half an hour. Connection was activated within 20 minutes and all I had to do was login to my modem / router and adjust some settings. Very smooth and easy process.

Why does ABB have a option for 250mbps and other providers don't?

    • Because they’re top see you next tuesdays

    • +1

Their customers expressed an interest in it so they started offering it (as far as I know).

In a true ozbargainer fashion, I signed up for Aussie Broadband using a free month deal, then churned to Superloop for the next month on the $21 a month discount. $0 to Aussie broadband, the poor guys, but if they lower their ongoing price I'll definitely consider them again.

My mum was very set on "oh why don't we just stay", so I'm sure plenty of people will just stay, they'll be alright. But after the price we paid for a wifi 6 router, I really want to lower the ongoing costs for a while on 100mbps.

By the way guys, intel wifi 6 cards are $21.33 delivered. They were $16 last week though, drat, knew I should have bought. But any decent intel AC card with good antenna placement should be able to max out the 100/40 connection at the moment anyway. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33006721274.html?spm=a2g0o.p…

edit: do keep in mind though, a wifi 6 router + ax card is a lot faster than the top of the line powerline ethernet adapters. For latency, unsure, I almost always get <1ms on 5ghz anyway.

    • which wifi6 router did you get? they are awfully expensive atm and i believe there is always too many bugs with new standards. Wifi 6 routers should be cheaper for early adopters as they are the ones who will be reporting all the bugs.

      • I got the rt-ax88u, and yeh it was expensive ugh, there will be some cashback from a promotion though. and funny you mention that, since then i've read about the ax200 and how it doesnt perform any better than an intel ac client at the moment, at least with asus routers. I assume its an intel issue though.

I've had two tp link routers before this, and they were both amazing in the beginning, then the wifi went bad on both. I'm not going with tp link again. I avoided the asus rt-ac68u as it does not have strong wifi and is a bit too old.

I signed up 6days ago to superloop 100/20 unlimited for $69mnth on HFC. Used my Telstra smart modem gen2 as my router/wireless and so far absolutely flawless with not a single drop out.
I get 95/17mbps all the time and the Australian
(not Indian) customer service is excellent.

  • how to get nbn 250????

    • Have to go on small business plan.

    • +1

      Hi there holyland.

Our nbn250 plans are only available in some areas. We have also changed our 250 plans from 250/100 to 250/25 in line with NBN. If you want the higher upload, you will need to sign up to a Business plan.

      Cheers, Nicole

  • Who is the best value (but still consistent speeds) provider to go with nowadays? It sounds like Superloop is the new favourite?

    • I have had superloop for nearly 3 months and the internet is starting to settle only now! I used to get 2-3 drop out a day, but now it’s looking like it’s settling.
I will probably give a try to Abb (won’t wait for my promotion to finish if it starts dropping out again) and opt for the 100/20. At $89 including a pay as you go landline it’s even cheaper than sl.

  • How long do HFC churns take?

  • Hi. I am currently on adsl2 with tpg using the Archer D9. Our property has HFC. What modem and router would you guys recommend for Nbn? Should I get the one from ABB? Thanks.

Can you get the referral bonus if someone signs up for this deal?

    • +2

I was reading somewhere that the referer can still get a bonus, but not referee (as they get the free month)

      • It used to be the case, but they changed it a while back. You can either select the refer a friend promo for the $50 each or use a promo deal.

I've switched from AussieBB to superloop in October as superloop offered signup special discount. However, I've experienced network disruptions several times last week. Thinking about going back to AussieBB. Am I still considered as a new customer?

    • +1

I can’t answer that question, but you can try the code. Superloop has been awful for me, only starting to settle now. If Aussie was good for you, I’d be doing what you plan. I will probably move to Aussie at some stage, but currently hoping sl stays reliable.
Once I find a good nbn provider I will stay and not move.

You won't be a new customer until 6 months have elapsed.

Try letsbemates.com.au or also called matr communicate then you will never end up in calling for support or any issue as its been two years and i have never called them once also 4k UHD buffering so so good that you wont feel any lag out there.

    • What plan do you have 50 or 100?

      • 50 mbps

      • +2

they are also running 1 month risk free guarantee thats seems to very promising.

  • +1

    NBN T&C say:

If you are cancelling your service, you must provide 30 days’ notice before the required date by calling us on 1300 880 905.

First month is free but you will be very likely to have to pay for the service after you no longer want it, so you will pay for it in the end. This is what happened to me when I left them, their support couldn't get my line fixed so I had to churn and had to pay for an extra month.

And who puts an apostrophe after a plural? That's a warning sign!

  • +3

    Thanks signed up
Left superloop due to their frequent disrupted service which is still not fixed

    • Yeah, I've been getting it the last few weeks too. Nothing major yet as it hasn't lasted longer then 30 minutes at a time. But it has been disrupted about 4-5 times now.

  • How long do you need to have not been with abb to be considered new?

  • +2

iinet are offering 100mbit VDSL2 on normal phone line for $39.99 month. What a waste and ripoff NBN is.

  • If you have to give notice 30 days in advance to terminate, does it mean you sign up and pretty much give notice to terminate straight away?

I'm curious to know if anyone stays or goes somewhere else after the month ends.

I'm thinking of trialing the Super Loop $20 discount after this. Or maybe I should have done it the other way around.

    Cheers

    • +3

I think within the first month you can terminate without the 30 days notice, but you can't get another "free" trial for six months. What it means is that if you use them for more than a month you end up paying for your "free" month at the end of your contract.

I think calling it a month by month contract but having a 30 days phone notice before termination is deceptive, especially when it's not mentioned at all in the Critical Information Summary.

Anyone know the prices for NBN25 and NBN50 with about 250GB data? I Can't look at the website due to cloudflare rubbish. Just out of curiosity.

    • +1

I had a look for you, and from what I can see there's no 250GB plans offered.

      25/5 - 100GB is $60
      25/5 - 500GB is $65
      50/20 - 100GB is $70
      50/20 - 500GB is $75

      • Thanks for the info my friend.

Current code is AUSSIEFREE, this one didn't work but I got the new one from phone support.

    • Hi there,

FACEBOOKFREE should also be working as it doesn't expire until the end of this month.

      Cheers, Nicole

      • Hi Rep,

Any chance of bringing back this deal or getting the first month free?

        • Hi nix1016,

I believe there will be a new promo coming out during this month. I don't have the details as to when though.

When it does, I'll let you know.

          Cheers, Nicole

  • I’ve signed up using this offer, placed an order at 9.30 am. Still waiting…

  • For anyone looking for this offer and it has expired - I check my address with real details on the ABB website. After a few missed calls and emails they have emailed with a first month free offer (less than a week later).

Just an FYI if there is not code active.
