    No Ash, no sale?

      No Barty, no party?

      • +1

        Correct! haha….

      • Triple the price if Barty got there

    • +1

      Reverse fire sale.

  • +6

So $20 in 'fees' just so I can buy 2 tickets..

  • Come back with half price tickets for the men's finals

    • -2

Dreamin LoL… supply and domand my friend. No one wants to see a 14th seed and a no name seed women’s final. But jdoker thiem/zverev will be a top match

      • +10

Isn't no-name Muguruza a former #1, and the 14th seed just knocked out the current #1? If you're really into tennis, what's not to like?

        • Yes.

        • +2

Because the number 1 womens spot has been a merry go round since serena

Edit: osaka was number one recently and defending champion,
Goes out horribly and has dropped to number 9

      • I didn't really expect it hit one can hope

      • +3

Lol a no name seed? You mean a Wimbledon and French open champion and former world number 1?

Tennis runs a little more than 2 weeks in January, hop out of your little box.

  • +9

    Playing:

    S. Kenin

    G. Muguruza

No wonder they are not sold out.

    • +13

And knowing womens tennis the match could go either way in 45 mins

    • +1

Rather place a bet $235 to Kenin lost

  • some cracker seats though

  • +2

Maybe if it was guaranteed to last longer than 3 sets.

    • +24

Women’s grand slams should also be 5 sets. They get equal prizemoney to the men.

      • Why do they only play 3 sets?

Are they less fit than the men?

        • +2

Because they secretly know biologically they cannot compete at the same level.

      • +1

Lets not get into that debate

        but imagine

        6-1 6-1 1-6 1-6 6-0

        Type scorelines

        • +4

Or 6-7 4-6 7-6 4-1 then both retire cos of exhaustion lol

      • +5

This still wouldn't justify equal prizemoney.

In addition to (apart from a few rare exceptions) spending more time on court…

Tickets for men's finals have a higher price.
The cost of advertising is higher during men's finals.

An athlete's remuneration should be a direct reflection of income generated by them within their competition. Aligning the pays creates a gender pay gap.

        • +2

Yup it's very rare that women's sport generates more than men's. A good example is the US women's soccer team who have higher overall revenue than the men (cos they're crap) and fully deserve more pay. Not equal, more.

But yes women's tennis having equal pay is a modern day joke.

  • Nice way to work around scalping laws by including a booze session beforehand. But why did you chose a venue so far away??

    • But why did you chose a venue so far away??

      To save money.

  • +1

I rather go the first week to walk around and see several matches rather than just one.

I'll watch the final on my Ozbargained Sony TV. Better than being there.

    • 3 hours of free booze is tempting though

      • -2

You can get free booze at home…

  • +1

What!? Bullsh*t, final tickets were $190 when I went in 2010

    • Inflation mate. Currently running at…let's see…oh dear, 9.48% p/a!

      • +1

Arrggggjhh! I think the best way is to go to AO grounds and watch the big screen

  • +1

wouldn't pay to go see women's, especially when never even heard of one of them, be over in like an hour.

  • +7

If I wanted to listen to screaming for 60 odd minutes I'd just watch some porn

    • +3

60 minutes… who are you kidding!?

      • I was been generous

  • +1

Crap weather and 2 unknowns. I wouldn't even bother for free. Can't brlieve ppl actually pay 400+ regardless. Can think of much better things to do with the $$$ and watch on TV. Atmosphere at a tennis game doesn't justify the price 99% of the time.

    • Muguruza is not an unknown. She's a 2 time Grand Slam champion.

      • +2

Yea but how many people care in Australia. Not Aussie nor high profile

        • People that follow Tennis…. like anything. If youre only interested in tennis for a couple of weeks a year then no this isnt going to be of interest to you.

  • There's $99 tickets up the top also - this court is indoors and the finger food/drinks might make it worth it for some.

  • Mens is interesting from $350 . Thought would cost more .

  • +1

Save your money for actual premium tennis in the men's draw

    • +1

Even federers straight sets demolition by djokovic while injured is more interesting
