I bought this CPU last week from another retailer and it was $485, and now it goes even lower. I should have had more patience.

Bought from that seller and before they are good. At least it's not FTC.

    • Is FTC that bad

      • +1

I don't think so. I bought 2x from them never have a problem. They are just a bit slow sometimes. But, the price justify.

I got a 5700 xt from them. And my postage was delayed, It took them like 8 days from order to post it. But I contacted them about it, cause they were going to use sendle to post it, which would probably the worst courier service I have dealt with regarding time to deliver. And they changed it to Auspost Express for free, so it wasn't too bad in the end, but my experience would of been a lot worse if I had to wait for sendles slow ass to deliver. I probably would of opted to get the 2070s if I was going to do it again though, or probably just a 1660s. 5700 works well, but takes a bit too much tweaking.

FTC took my order, changed order status to shipped and provided tracking number. After 2 weeks the tracking number still said that the item had never been dropped off to the courier. messaged FTC several time over the next week for an ETA with no response. I then opened a case on ebay for 'item not delivered' to try to get a response from them and after 3 days they just refunded the order with the money still pending on paypal.

If you look at their recent feedback, it looks like the majority of their customers had similar experiences. So if you want to gamble with a more than a 50% chance of having your cash held up for more than a month then get nothing for it (as well as missing other deals in the meantime) think about whether the discount is going to be worth all that.

        • Exact same experience with me. Very frustrating.

      • Well, 2 weeks stuffing around with the 3900x and got cancelled in the end. So yes, FTC is Really bad.

      • I thought you can no longer buy anything from FTC computers Ebay store. There are no longer any items on Ebay. I still have not received my 3900x. It was supposed to arrive on the 22nd/23rd. The seller advised 28th/29th later, but that didn't happen. The Sendle tracking number is still waiting for a drop off. I have not received a refund from FTC like others, so I lodged a PayPal request.

    • What is FTC?

  • I bought a 3600 for $253 after 12% cashback from shopback a couple of days ago (now expired).

  • I'm looking for a cheap itx motherboard and 32 gigabytes of ram to go with this

    • B450i MSI gaming. Cheap and excellent.

Any reason to pay the extra $130 vs a 3600x?

    • +1

      2/2 cores/threads =)

      • nice maffs bro

      • Just on paper the performance seems to be quite similar, that's all. Figured the $130 could grab a better graphics card, or a cooling solution

    • +2

      3700X = CPU Mark 23831
      CPU Cores 8
      Threads 16
      Base Clock 3.6GHz
Max Boost Clock Up to 4.4GHz
      Total L1 Cache 512KB
      Total L2 Cache 4MB
      Total L3 Cache 32MB
      Total Cache = 36.512mb

      VS

      3600 = CPU Mark 19861
      CPU Cores 6
      Threads 12
      Base Clock 3.6GHz
Max Boost Clock Up to 4.2GHz
      Total L1 Cache 384KB
      Total L2 Cache 3MB
      Total L3 Cache 32MB
      Total Cache = 35.384mb

      https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/AMD-Ryzen-5-3600-vs-AMD…

Large L1 and L2 Cache is faster then L3 Cache so its not just 2 extra cores and 200Mhz that gives it a performance jump.
Price is still a little high on the 3700X but it comes with a much better cooler if you were planing to stick with the box cooler.

      • I'll be honest, I'm a blue/green team kind of guy

        • +2

Well at the moment blue team is now SLOWER, RUNS WAY HOTTER and also uses way more power. intel's already high TDP numbers are at base clock.. :)

Zen3 comes out this year and at that point intel wont have a single CPU at any given price point that can compete on any program or game.

Even now the 9900k /ks is the only CPU worth buying and even that's if you need max FPS (240HZ) at 1080p for pro gaming… once you move up to 1440p and higher the GPU becomes the bottleneck.

  • Why is this appearing in the freebies section, you have to buy it don't you?

  • +1

Just bought the 3600x.. is there much performance difference in gaming compared to this?

    • +2

If you're using it for gaming most reviews seem to put the difference as negligible

      • Exactly my point :)

        • +1

          https://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/asus-rog-crosshair-viii-hero-(wi-fi)-review,21.html

Guru3D has put up nice comparison graphs comparing different CPUs but review is all about ASUS X570 Crosshairs 8 Hero motherboard though. Gaming wise, is negligible but for productivity, that is a different story.

  • Did anyone manage to find any good deals on atx motherboards?

  • Damn, bought my 3700x from pccg 2 weeks ago for 505. arghhhh
