Gotta love OzBers who abbreviate as "OW PM"

    • +6

You gotta save on the typing too!

  • How to use this for recharge? Port to another provider and back?

  • +1

Any comparison 12 month expiry offerings?

    • +6

Belong Mobile make your own 12 month plan using Option 2. Even if you don't buy the $40 starter pack on special it would be $130 for 91GB.

Any unused data never expires and you don't have to pay a large amount upfront, so you can port out anytime if you run out of data or a better deal comes along. Also if you manage to get one referral then it will knock $20 off ($110 for 91GB).

Waiting for the comments about not full Telstra network, message2txt etc.

Note - I did upvote this deal, just replying to Bill as he wanted some comparisons.

      • optus, 120gig for $150

        • Looks interesting - connection speeds download

      • Thanks.

What happens with Belong once the months are used up? Does it auto renew and charge us, or can we turn off auto renewal?

        Cheers

        • Belong isn't actually a 12 month plan, it's monthly. When you create an account you have to give them your credit card details and money is automatically taken out every 30 days.

          • +1

            @Arthur Dunger: Thanks.
Recently signed up. Good to know.

Will have to put a reminder to cancel when I port out.

  • Can't use on existing boost number ? I.e. recharge?

  • it's been 10 days that my number still hasn't been ported to boost.

    • +3

you need to use online chat to get them do it.

      • Agreed! I ported my number through their chat support. Porting was almost instant.

        • same, nothing for almost a week, called and it was done within 10 minutes

    • Yeah mine took 3 days from tpg but my wife’s one was done in 4 hours. She is with tpg also. Have to call their back of house and push them to do it.

    • +1

From my experience, I don't initiate a port on Friday afternoons or over weekends.

    • Ported 2 numbers from kogan no problem.

Ported my sons number 3 days went by still nothing rang up help desk they said there is network issues should be done by the end of the week.

Still no go lol his the funny part started to go thru the setup again without porting his number so different number and bang 15 minutes later hooked up with number on card.

Few days go bye called up my sons phone disconnected thinking my son played around with his phone get my son to ring me up and what do you no his original number calls me. :/ Lol

I’m currently using this. Occasionally I get very slow connection which I haven’t experienced with my Telstra data plan. Also when I tried to call Singapore once for work purpose, the line quality wasn’t there ( I’d rate it 2.5/5). Has anyone else experienced this?

    • +3

Yes I find speeds very disappointing on Boost coming from Kogan, as do others I know who made the switch. It is so bad I actually want to move back. I've checked my phones band compatibility, 4g settings and confirmed no outages on Telstra's website and still can't explain how poor the network is.

      • +1

Ported two numbers to them from Kogan, literally 1 bar vs 3-4 bar reception.

Still usable but if Kogan/Vodafone can beat your arse you know you done bad.

        • Where do you guys live?
I ported from kogan 10 months ago to this, never had a problem. Wife still with Kogan but switching to this soon.

          • +1

@nzcoops: Melbourne. I average 10Mbps down, it's a joke. The bars on your phone are not an accurate representation of signal as I have been advised by carrier specialists but I am usually on 4 bars with 4Gx.

            • +1

@McSquintus: Melbourne as well, <12KM from CBD . I know bars are not an accurate representation but all else equal you know 1 vs 3/4 will be quite telling.

And to confirm this Kogan used to give me 80Mbps, now I'm getting 20Mbps.

            • @McSquintus: Try resetting network settings on you phone

              • @zemphism: I reset it and the APNs remained the same, speeds as still slow.

      • +1

Just compared my wife's and my speeds. I'm Telstra, she's Boost. She's getting 70Mbps, I'm getting 110Mbps. Curious as I always thought that you'd get the same speeds as both are on Telstra 4G network.

        • +1

Thanks for your testing feedback. I have been telling people on here for well over a year now that Boost in some areas does not have the same speeds as Telstra, might even depend on time too.

Another varying factor could also be the different mobile phones for you and your wife CPU/CAT speed, but there would have to be a big difference to come up with 40Mbps variance.

  • +1

Coles must be due for a boost recharge special soon. Would be handy to meet flybuys minimum weekly spend

    • They had one 2 weeks ago….you reckon it will happen again soon?

  • Can I put this in my Huawei 4g modem and just use the data? (Was on Vivid/Optus, but way past contract).

    • +1

Can I put this in my Huawei 4g modem and just use the data?

Yes as long as the modem is carrier unlocked

      • I just tried my telstra sim from my mobile in the modem and it didn't work. Checked the modem on the optus website and it said it wasn't locked. Guessing The Huawei B315s only works with data sims

        • Was the modem given to you by your ISP or did you buy it outright?

          • @CC123: Bought it at Optus store. It was with vivid which then switched to Optus. I put the IMEI into the Optus website and it said it was unlocked. Just saw some post on Whirlpool where someone rang up support and they were told that modem will only work with data only sims

            • @Sammyboy: Very strange

            • @Sammyboy: Some modems you need to change APN settings etc, some just work ( must be carrier unlocked ).

Just checking, if I'm already with boost bhttmy 12 months is finishing next month, am I still eligible for this?

    • No, you need to port out and back to Boost, or new numbers.

  • Just tried to price match in store at Offficeworks Caroline Springs but when they tried to load bestdealplaza.com on their computers, it wasn't working. Errors in the browser about it 'not being allowed on their network' or 'gambling'???

I could load it on my phone, but they obviously can't be sure if I'm scamming them or not, so it wasn't because the website was overloaded due to bring posted on OzBargain.

Trying to price match through 1300 OFFICE now…

    ahhhhhhhhhhh

    Now it's OOS, nooooooo

    • Same happened to me in Hobart OW. They said they couldn't access the website

  • Sorry guys, a dumb question. I can get this from Officeworks and then port my existing number to the SIM in the pack, am I right?

    • No you need to get it ported online…

      • If you want the phone number from the SIM pack then it's not a porting. Porting is only when you transfer an existing already activated phone number to another provider.

    • +1

I think you can use the SIM from the pack and when activating online just port your existing number to the SIM.

      • Finally right answer lol ^^^THIS^^^

  • +1

    Says OOS

  • +1

    People ozbargained the wrong deal

    • Maybe reverse psychology worked haha.

  • Does OW price beat the Out of stock item?

    • +3

They look for any excuse to get out of it, so this would definitely be a big fat no.

  • But can you price match a backorder…

  • +5

    https://www.auditech.com.au/boost-150-prepaid-trio-sim-with-…

Use this if bestdealplaza price beat doesn't work. I just got mine at officeworks :)

  • Every ozbargain member on this deal by now

  • When will it need to be activated by? I still have another month and a bit left on my optus prepaid 12month plan I purchased for $120 last year. Wish another similar deal was available. $10/month seems unbeatable for 2 over 65yo adults who barely use data on their phones.

  • Can you use this for recharge or not possible?

    • Look above many comments, but No.

  • I'm still waiting on the SIM card for the last $300 price match deal. I'm assuming it might be something to do with Toll getting hacked

  • -2

can it be used for renew?
    when is the expiry date?

  • +1

How reputable is the site? Why is the company paypal some random guys hotmail

  • i managed to price beat with OW at East Vic Park against bestdealplaza, i had to ask the staff to take out the sim card from the cabinet. The manager didn't know who bestdealplaza was, i reckon by now they would haha!

  • OW not do price match, coz not store until 21th

  • Officeworks Chadstone stated they would not price match because the domain didn't end in .au
She was also really rude about it!

First time I've heard that one!

    • +1

Officeworks price beat overseas / grey import quite some time ago

      • I also pointed this out too. She was incredibly rude.

    • Just say this is an Australian retailer, their address and their ABN are on the website.

      • I pointed out the physical address in Adelaide and she didn't care because there was no .au
She said "if you don't like my decision, feel free to complain to customer service tomorrow during business hours! Next waiting please!"

        • wow that was rude… someone obviously doesn't want to work there.

          • @iSamurai: I just price beat at OW putt Street Sydney. Happily price matched as it was free shipping from Adelaide.

I hope someone can answer this… I’m currently with Boost, so I don’t need a new SIM card, so can I use this as a “recharge card”?
My plan doesn’t end until July, can I buy it now to be recharged later?

    • +2

No sorry, you cannot do that. You can only use a recharge voucher which sometimes coles has a few times a year.

  • When a Boost Recharge deal comes out again, how long does it last for to use the recharge voucher?

Or can a recharge allow you to top our plan which then simply extends the expiry date for another year from the date of existing expiry?

I got no probs here on the gold coast with speed which fluctuates so with Speedtest.net I get 120MB down 18MB up and after midnight I have gotten much higher, so I guess with data it comes down to your location which another good app is Open Signal.

    • Thanks for info. I am 45 Km South of Tweed and barely get 1-10Mbps here.

If you get these sims direct from Boost/Telstra or a store with good turn over or reps rotating stock, then at least a year. But pays to check as some could be few months only.

  • How does porting work? Do I request to port first and then cancel my current plan with Vodafone? or do they handle the cancellation for me?

    • New Telco will submit the porting request and if your details match, the porting should complete in few days.

      • Yeah but I still need to cancel my plan with voda myself right?

        • You mean pay out the remaining balance of your invoice/contract more like it lol.

        • If you are still under contract, Vodafone will send you whatever you owe them such as rem remaining monthly payments and device payout.

If not in contract, the port out request will trigger closure of your account with Vodafone.

  • Anyone order shipped or any updates from the BDP, i have no order confirmation email from BPD just a paypal receipt email.

  • Same here, only the paypal receipt email.

  • no news about shipping yet??

  • Can you recharge existing boost service with this or new service/port in only?

  • will this get you the bonus 40GB data if you activate before end of march?

  • +1

Yes activation gets the march offer incentive. 188 cents/GB falls to 106c/GB or thereabouts.

    • thank you kindly!

  • Anymore 80gb sim deals?

  • +1

Guys how to get discount on Boost mobile recharge as my 1 year plan is coming to an end ?

  • Isn't there 40gb extra (80+40 =120gb) for this Sim?

    • Yeah, there is an extra 40GB if you activate before 30/3, best to match at OW to be safe enough to activate before the 30th.

  • Officewords wouldnt price match because it has a different model number

    bestdealplaza MPN: P54770515
    Officeworks Part Number 76750318702

She also made a comment at the start of the call that it wasn't a .au address but still looked into it.
