  • Whats the easiest way to know if you're still within the 12 months thing?

    • When u cancel your credit card they usually send a formal cancellation email to you, so check your inbox using keywords

    • Just give ANZ a call and ask them when you cancelled your previous card

  • Just decided to check back here that I got approved, precisely 7 calendar days from the day (and even time!) of the application. No debts, first cc ever

    • may i ask your proximate income?

      • above 70, full time

  • +1

Reporting back that I got approved and got the card earlier this week. I applied early last week.
64k income, with 2 existing CC + car loan.

  • +2

Just spent an hour on the phone confirming details I had put in the application (fairly standard it seems) and was approved manually. I decided to confirm the details of the offer only to be told the card I was applying for has a $295 Annual Fee (Incl first year) and 55k Qantas Points after $2500 spend in 3 months.

Has anyone completed this application over the phone and received the correct offer? I applied through the correct link and assume the guy on the phone doesn't have access to the details of this particular offer but also don't want to assume so the application is currently on hold.

    • Thank you for raising this, I'm going to call later to ensure I'm on the right offer.

    • Hmm that's not good. I haven't confirmed the details, but I dont want to be hit with the $295 fee, so will have to double check.

    • Just to confirm, did you apply specifically through the PointHacks website link?

      • Yes, I applied through the PointHacks link online then received a text message to contact ANZ on a particular phone number and with my application reference number. So I'm sure the offer would be correct at the end of the day but I'd like confirmation before finalising the application, receiving the card and getting charged $295 straight away. And I don't think I'll get that confirmation from ANZ.

    • +1

I went through a similar process. Called up after receiving my card today and they confirmed I have the offer. Best to check though.

      • Did your offer letter say you'll be charged $240 annually and $55 rewards fee? Just got my letter and these are the terms. I applied through the pointhack link.

I am hoping what they have in the letter will be different to what's on file, but I find it unlikely.

        • Mine mentions these in the offer but also states they aren't charged in the first year.

          • @ymcaec: Thanks! Went back to read the Letter of offer and can see the line where it states The annual fee and rewards fee is not chargeable in the first year.

Any way to confirm the bonus points is 75k? Otherwise I'll give them a call.

  • Did anyone receive a text to give them a call to discuss further? I applied last Friday and have just received the text now.

  • Declined - 100k+ salary, mortgage and 1 other card. Seems to be a bit random

  • +1

Approved, exactly a week (5 business days) after applying.

  • Approved. Anyway to verify you get the correct deal besides calling ANZ?

    • Could wait to see if it's mentioned in the welcome letter they post out.

      • +2

Nope nothing mentioned in the letter.

    • +1

I called up and they said they don't mention this kind of thing in the welcome letter. They did confirm the no annual fee / 75k points was attached to my account though.

    • My Letter of Offer doesn't say anything about the 75k QFF points, but it does confirm that there's no $295 fee in the first year.

  • Can anyone confirm if BPay bill payments made by this credit card count as "eligible purchases"?

So far I can only determine the exclusions are fees, cash equivalents, cash advances and gambling transactions.

    • +1

Might be eligible for the bonus, but don't attract points. Pay via Postbillpay, the merchant direct or PayPal.

  • +2

Dreadful service from ANZ. Can't wait to get points and then bin this card.
Painful time verifying ID. Their online verification system rejected multiple times despite me quadruple checking all personal data.
Ended up in a branch (there aren't many left - have to travel long way from where I live) and another painful wait and customer "service" experience.
Eventually got approved (at least that's an improvement on many people here) and am now waiting for card to turn up.
All this has taken nearly 2 weeks.
Just need to get the card, spend the $2.5k and get rid of the damn thing

  • Just got off the phone after 1 hour wait. They wanted to clarify if I still had my previous card still open, (closed 4 weeks ago).

All approved!! Should receive the card in a week.

  • +1

Applied the moment the deal was posted. SMS saying will be finalized in 2 days. A week later, managed to get through and they asked for mortgage details and said 2 business days from then. Been a week since then and still nothing. Seems impossible to get through without waiting an hour.

    • Shortly after hanging up, got a call asking about the mortgage again. They take the full value into consideration, even though I'm am far ahead in repayments. He updated to reflect full balance and came back approved.

  • Does anyone know if the Qantas membership has to match the person applying? I.e Can I put my number on my wife's application as she doesn't have a frequent flyer membership?

    • yes has to match, best thing is you create a membership for your wife and you call up saying you made a mistake when you entered the number

  • +1

    Got mine approved

Called up and the lady told me that the credit card hotline would potentially close from tomorrow / they won't be taking incoming calls.

    • +1

HSBC also closed there telephone line.. Coronavirus doesn't spread from phone call

      • WFH/reduced capacity in India

    • What number did you called?
I tried 1800 076 113 but no one pick up.
Applied since 6th March but no update so far, supplied payslip on 9th March.

      • I called 1800 092 098 on 17th March. Waited for about 20 minutes before getting through to a person.

        • Thanks m8

      • Yep that's the number I called which goes to ANZ credit cards.

I applied on the 14th so overall about 3 business days but the lady got it approved during the call.

Went to a call centre in India but as you can tell from all the AUS companies the rely on offshore call centres, it'll be hard to get through.

When I got the Travel Adventures a year back they didn't do on it spot approval despite calling up and I still had to wait the day but this time it was approved during the call.

  • Hey I just got this card. I applied through the link but how do I know If the offer is activated?

  • A bit dumbfounded that I got declined for a messily $6K credit.
No debt, one 15K Amex card, could clear all of it in a second, so no real liability. An "Excellent' credit rating too.

Frustratingly their phone support, which sucks, is now down due to COVID-19, so I can't enjoy a 30mins wait time to try and figure out why I was denied.

    • Me too mate, seems to be a bit hit and miss! Their phone support was terrible and couldn't give me any other reason than 'the computer said so'.

      • That's helpful.

Although I found St George annoying in many ways, at least their phone system has a call back feature. So instead of being on hold for 30+ mins, they confirm your phone number and call you back when they're available.

  • I've applied on the 1st day this deal was posted.

I still haven't had a confirmation. ANZ are not taking any phone calls but I have sent an email with no reply yet.

    I must be unlucky.

    • I'd suggest calling them first thing when it's available again. One thing I've noticed with ANZ is when you call them they look at your application on the spot and let you know if it's approved or rejected. If you don't call you end up at the bottom of the pile.

    • Same with me.
      No one bothered to reply.
Not sure if I am still entitled to the same promotion once they are back online.

      • Hope we are still entitled to this (i.e. No annual fees) despite this deal expiring today (24 March).

  • Anyone getting the error "hmmm, there seems to be a problem' when submitting your application? Completed multiple attempts on different browsers and received the same error….

  • I received mine and noticed it impacted my credit rating adversely. Although i did expect some impact to credit rating, the drop this time was too significant.

    • I received mine as well but my Credit score went up by 42pts..Westpac CC app in Dec 19 & Coles in Jan 20 & Anz in Mar 20.
Hopefully someone can shed some lights on how this whole score things works.

      • you are lucky. I know in fact that too many inquiries on your credit score causes the score to drop. That said, I didn't expect my score to drop so much just by one cc inquiry.

  • I got rejected even though I have great finances. Has anyone been able to reverse their decision by talking to them?

  • applied on Wednesday, approved today

  • How do you know if you are approved for the 75k offer?

    • I think you probably need to call them up (see Cronium's question above). My letter of Offer at least confirms no annual/rewards fee in the first year, doesn't mention the 75k QFF points though unfortunately. I had to call ANZ to get internet banking set up and it only took about 10 minutes wait on the phone, I was surprised. It is 6pm perth time though, maybe they're less busy evenings?

  • +1

I received the card today but they want me to come into a branch to do 100 point ID check to activate and setup internet banking? Not sure what decade they think this is that you can't do this online, and also there's like a virus going around! Don't think I can be bothered.

    • +1

Same. A bit of a joke….can't get through on the phone either!

    • I did mine online. Just had to put in drivers license and Medicare card details

      • I thought I did that, although can't remember. You may find if you dont have an internet banking account with them they will still want you to go to a branch to confirm ID and set one up.

This was from fb chat with anz:

Thanks for sending a private message, xxxx. When you open your first account with ANZ it is a requirement that you visit a local ANZ branch to verify your identity. We can appreciate where you're coming from and completely understand if you don't feel comfortable visiting a branch. Unfortunately we're unable to verify your identity for your first account another way. We appreciate your understanding. -Stacy

        • I did my 100 points check for this card online. Not sure why they ask you to do in person.

I received a sms with reference number and they sent me an email with the link to do so.

  • So sad I missed this. Please bring it back once we return to some form of normality.

  • I have a plumbing bill to pay which is about $3k, however they only accept direct debit, I assume this is not eligible for points/meet my $2.5k spend?

    • It's not. If they accept credit card even with a fee it may be worth it.

  • Thought I would just post my experience, applied on Monday 23rd, received credit check on account on Wednesday 25th and received approval email and online identification sms code Friday 27th. Will update when card is received, but overall this has been a smooth process.

    My details:
    - Income > $100,000
    - Current credit cards (2) combined credit limit $26,000
    - Brand new mortgage ~$600,000

  • +1

Anyone reached the $2,500 minimum spend?

    Mind checking

ANZ Internet Banking -> Card -> Account actions -> Reward Points

Do you see the 75,000 points under "Bonus Qantas Frequent Flyer points earned this period"?

    • I see my 1,875 points added (0.75 * 2,500)
    • I don't see the 75,000 points under "Bonus Qantas Frequent Flyer points earned this period"

    Example: https://i.imgur.com/G8JPXUv.png

    1.
Does the “Bonus Qantas Frequent Flyer points earned this period” section get updated at a later date?

    2.
Since I have 1,875 points added (0.75 * 2,500), this confirms all of my transactions were ‘eligible’, so the bonus points should be applied?

    • That's interesting, please report back with the news. I've reached my limit, but half of it still pending a CC statement

    • Same here, just activated the card and rewards didn't show potential 75000 points

      • Same here, I've exceeded the $2500 spend however I haven't received my 75,000 bonus points.

        • Other ANZ threads confirms our bonus points will appear the statement after reaching min. spend (i.e. Statement #2)

  • Anz not answering phone, can't get into app.
Not that hard to have staff answer remotely.
Got letter that says annual fee, trying make sure I got the deal was supposed to.

    • Read it carefully.

"The annual account fee and rewards program services fee are not payable in the first year"

This was on the back side, of the first piece of paper

      • Cheers, found it on letter offer on back.
Now just need be able contact ANZ

      • took me three goes to find it…

  • Does the PIN come separately to the card and the welcome pack?

    • Yes, but you can change your pin in the ANZ app yourself, before the PIN letter comes

      • Don't have an account though, so need the PIN to activate no? Ridiculous how many separate mails they send for one card…

        • Yeah for that, I had to call to create a new Net bank account, link card to account then all good to go.

  • Just wondering if anyone has recently applied and heard back? Applied on 20/3/20, uploaded supporting documents. Haven't heard back from ANZ - tried calling but number (1800 076 113) doesn't seem to be operational, and email hasn't generated a response. Credit check records doesn't seem like they have made an enquiry yet.

Anyone else in a similar boat?

    • Just recieved my welcome email today if it helps others!

  • Was the deadline "apply by March 24 2020" or "activate by March 24, 2020"

I applied on March 16, was accepted on March 24 and activated on March 27- would I still be eligible for the 75000 points bonus if I do the minimum $2500 spend within 3 months?

    • +1

It will be apply by March 24 2020. It was clarified by Pointhacks team while responding to one of the query earlier in their website.

Yes I think you will be eligible for the 75000 points bonus if I do the minimum $2500 spend within 3 months.

  • Applied and received the welcome pack in the mail on 23rd March. No card arrival yet.

  • Sorry if this is a stupid question but how do you get the complimentary Qantas frequent flyer membership with this?
I’ve received the card and pin but also received a letter saying I didn’t supply my QFF number and if I don’t have one I can join through Qantas for a small fee.

  • Update: ANZ is advising me (via SecureMail) they have only signed me up to the 50k points with $1500 spend offer. Any ideas on how to proceed further, as I clearly signed up via this offer?

    • Have a look on the back of your Letter of Offer.

Is your first year annual fee + rewards fee waived?

      • Yep, that was mentioned

        • Very strange, you may have signed up to the offer too late. Originally it expired on 31/03 but changed to 24/03.

The new offer is from 25/03, which is similar to what you were told by ANZ https://www.pointhacks.com.au/credit-cards/anz-frequent-flye…

          What date did you submit?

          • @sssbp: I have email confirmation proving I applied before the deal expired around 14th March, but I'm just struggling to prove I signed up via the PointHacks link. Let's see what they say, I've sent them a reply back.

            • @brokeunistudent: Emails ANZ doesn't indicate what offer you're signed up for - nor does the Letter of Offer so it's hard to really prove.

I called twice to ensure I was placed on this offer - once after app submission, and another after receiving my card.

Good luck! Let us know how that goes.

              • @sssbp: Update: ANZ confirmed the Customer Service rep was wrong, I did get signed up to the 75k offer.. Thanks sssbp for your help!

  • +1

Anyone else randomly get accepted this morning?

    • just being told on the phone that the card has been approved after some basic questions, I think they are way behind due to COVID19 situation. Applied 22nd March

    • Got a text that was approved as well this afternoon. Applied 9-March.

  • +2

Finally have the 75k points showing up in net bank. Should appear in QFF account within a few weeks, then I shall cancel.

    • Hi, how long did they take to credit you the 75k points once you have reached your 2500 spent?

  • Hi, I applied on 13 March, received a call from ANZ on 20th asking for extra information, then nothing. I have tried calling the credit card assessment team but they no longer accept phone calls. I called the main line and was told to email [email protected] which I did several times and still nothing to date. I sent another email this afternoon, hopefully they're catching up to their backlog and I'll hear back soon.
