  • Didn't this card used to come with like 70 status credits?

  • Hey question, when do you receive the QFF points? After 3 months? Are you then able to cancel the card after 3 months?

    • +3

Yes, after 3 months. Once you receive the points only then cancel the card and set your alarm for 12 months time to apply again.

  • Does ANZ do auto-approval if you already have a credit card with them?

    • I thought they would but this application did not ask for any existing accounts with ANZ. After completing application it asks for upload of payslips and I never received an email they said I would get. I assume approval will come through tomorrow.

    • You won’t get the rewards if you’re already an ANZ card holder.

  • This or the black one?

    • +4

      Black
Once you go black you can't go back

      • Isnt the black $150 fee, 4k spend for 120k point?

        • Yes, it is. A better deal in my opinion.

          • @duchy: That's what I think too.
And Black promo doesn't specify expiry date, so it might still available past end of March

    • Have you checked page 1 of comments before posting? hmmm

  • I have an ANZ Travel reward card. The exclusion list seems to be only on their frequent flyer cards so does this mean I'm eligible?

    • Ensure if applying for an offer, you don’t currently hold and haven’t opened or closed an ANZ Frequent Flyer Black, ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum, ANZ Frequent Flyer Gold or an ANZ Frequent Flyer credit card in the last 12 months and meet all other offer eligibility criteria

    • +1

Travel card looks excluded, as I have it and am going to jump on one of these.

      • Seems like it so I'll take a shot.

Slightly off-topic: I'm planning to refinance my home loan to take advantage of the rebate offers floating about. Is it better to get the refinance out of the way first or does it not matter?

        • Refinance out of the way first. More important savings to be had with your mortgage than the maximum value you can get from your points! Too risky to take the credit history lookup hit before doing a refinance. But of course, I'm not your financial advisor and this is just my opinion!

  • Hey Fellow OZBargainers - A quick question:
    What are the exclusions??

    From Pointhacks:
"Don’t forget that a minimum spend of $2,500 within the first 3 months is required to receive the 75,000 bonus Qantas Points. Eligible purchases cover most transactions, with the normal exclusions of fees, cash, cash equivalent transactions, balance transfers and transactions for gambling or gaming."

    • I'm trying to find that out myself but can't see anything except the above. Some cards exclude BPAY transactions but I can't see anything about it

      • Yeah, that's because from previous experiences, I know some cards do not qualify any ATO related payments or Govt/RTA related payments.

So, if it is vague, we need to clarify - Nothing in the linked site from Pointhackers that I could find this info.

    • +1

Most transactions- any retail store or place where you buy food, electronics, fuel, any goods and services.

To see if I'll hit the spend requirement I just look at my typical spending on fuel, food, shopping etc. + any extra spending coming up (eg. a new piece of furniture or electronics). Except for refunds, pretty much all retail transactions count.

      General nos:
Bills, or anything you can pay with bpay
Aus government transactions (ATO, rates, rego)
      Gambling
      Cash
      Balance transfer

If you want the piece of mind, read the terms and conditions:
      https://www.anz.com.au/content/dam/anzcomau/documents/pdf/an…

      • Would rent payments be alright?

        • Almost certainly not- that would be considered cash equivalent.

      • Rates and rego are eligible spend if done via BPAY

        • No, they are not.

          From ANZ:

"‘Cash Equivalent Transaction’ means transfers of funds
to or from other financial institutions, foreign exchange
          transactions, travellers cheque purchases, gambling
transactions, utility bills paid in person at a bank or Australia
Post or any bills paid using the Card in conjunction with
the BPAY scheme (if the billing merchant does not accept
credit card payment using the BPAY scheme) and any other
transaction that is treated as a cash advance. "

          • @SolidworksError: I’ve done this before on various ANZ cards and received bonus points. Also have it in writing from ANZ that “providing the council processes the payment as a Purchase (not a Cash Advance) or you can pay it via BPAY that will be accepted as an eligible purchase.”

      • Parents got the 50k version of this card earlier and paid almost 2/3 of the minimum spend requirement with local council rates, still got the points and bonus.

        • Whack, that must slip through the cracks.

If it does work, be aware of any credit card surcharges on these bills

          • @SolidworksError: Well if you go through the AMEX and other card threads there's always plenty of ppl going back and forth over whether rates and bills count but in the end it seems to be more of a case of these types of expenditures not converting to points but still counting as part of the minimum spend.

Yeah credit card surcharges for rates and rego etc has been around for a while so we're pretty used to it by now.

Can anyone please guide me if I can use this card overseas ? I am more concerned about 2500 AUD I need to transact within 3 months. It will be easier if I can use this card for my trip to Japan. Is there more conversion fees.

    • +1

Of course you can use it overseas. Just factor in the fee

What are the ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum international fees?
ANZ will charge 3% of the value of any international Transaction charged or credited to your ANZ credit card. For further information, refer to ANZ Personal Account Fees and Charges.

    • +1

Yes but you will pay 3% transaction fee

Is it possible for me to sign up to this card and get points, if i've already got the Rewards Travel Adventures card?

I'll cancel the Travel Adventures Card if I can sign up and get the points with this one.

    • -1

Ensure if applying for an offer, you don’t currently hold and haven’t opened or closed an ANZ Frequent Flyer Black, ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum, ANZ Frequent Flyer Gold or an ANZ Frequent Flyer credit card in the last 12 months and meet all other offer eligibility criteria

    • +2

Thanks guys, just called up ANZ.

They're two totally different reward programs, all good to go ahead with this one and receive the bonus 75K.

      • +1

Cheers. That's exactly what I was wondering as I have the Rewards Travel card too

  • While uploading documents on a PC drag and drop them instead of clicking the "select files" button else your browser will crash

  • I already have Qantas American express and a Commbank Platinum rewards card which I hardly use. If I get this and only use it occasionally for things and close it down after a year, is that going to give me a bad credit rating ?

    • +1

Having the card and closing it after a year won’t give you a bad credit rating. Having many applications in a short space of time can negatively impact your rating though. So if you just got the CommBank and Amex cards, it could. But at the end of the day, unless you know you’ll need access to credit in the near future (eg a home or car loan) then it doesn’t really matter.

In fact, having the card for a year and making the repayments on time is more likely to improve your score than lower it.

  • Should I bother applying if rejected from the black card?

    • Someone above said they were apparently auto rejected for this card because they were rejected for the black card.

  • I closed this card in May last year… bugger.

    • in the same boat as you my friend, i'm sad :(

      • very sad… I opened mine in late 2018, maybe they will consider opening date and not closing date…

  • -3

Sometimes it pains to pull the trigger.
Applied for this deal. Approved. Not gonna go for that.
Came back here for more comments, Black card was of better value. Applied and approved.
So two credit checks. Thanks anyway, OzB spirit :)

    • wait, so will you be eligible for the reward points on both of these cards?

      • Wow. Did not think if that.
I need to provide my sal docs which I thought of not to provide for this deal. Just to process for black card. But since I have been credit checked twice, will give it a go with both the applications.
Might need to spend 7000 though.

I am Pretty sure I would be eligible for one card though. But will give it a go anyway.
Not gonna call ANZ as they would cancel one anyway.

    • Wooah. All the neggars. Care to elaborate.
Or is it u got rejected that’s y?

  • -1

    What is the minimum income?

    • -2

      75 big ones

  • Is there min income for black card? I just can't find it on their website

    • Usually 75k p.a

    • 75k, more if you have significant debt

  • Have they ever historically pulled these sorts of deals early?
I only recently paid off some typical spending for March and bit of April so I might not hit the min spend. If I can hold of applying till more end of March the extra few weeks I'll have more I can throw on it. Well assuming I get approved anyway.

(no, can't be bothered doing stuff like booking flexi business class flights or whatever lol)

    • They generally don't

  • didn't get any email to confirm my application after like 5 hours, did you get the email?

    • Same.

Anyone received any emails from ANZ ?

      • I got the email confirming that I submitted an application and that I’d need to provide proof of income right after I did the application.

        • I got the same email when I applied on the 5/3. Uploaded my documents but haven't heard anything since.

      • No email either but uploaded docs straight into website

      • +1

I also haven't received the email yet. Is annoying since i didn't write down the application number

        • Have you since received an email?

      • I received an email saying thank you for your application.

        I'm beginning to regret applying.

        • Any more updates since that email?

          • +1

@jumbokevin: Approved SMS received. Waiting for the card.

I didn’t bother calling them or trying to follow up on my application.

  • Anyone know if the 20k bonus Qantas points offer for new credit card owners still active?

  • just started a new job, do i need two payslips or can i just send the contract through?

    • Need two payslip.

    • +1

My email said the latest two payslips or bank statements showing your salary or the work contract if you had just started a new job.

  • +1

Any easy way to meet the $2,500 requirement? Unless I book overseas flights or something it's gonna be hard to hit that minimum

    • +12

      2,500 frozen cokes

    • +2

You can pay your utility (electricity, gas, internet) and insurance bills in advance - pay up maybe 6 months to reach the minimum spend quicker.
Another is to buy supermarket gift cards of your choice and use them for grocery spends later on.

      • great idea, thank you

      • A previous reply (page 1) says bills are not "eligible"?

        • Bills usually refer to 'Pay by BPay' option provided by merchants.
Gas and electricity providers take credit card payments which count towards the reward points.

    • +1
      • Time it with your car rego and insurance renewals
      • Prepay your gym or health funds membership
      • buy discounted woolies gift cards

What is the minimum income on this card?

    • Covered earlier, looks inconclusive.

    • -5

      75 stacks

      • You keep replying with this answer. This is not true. This isn’t the black card!

  • -1

I cancelled mine back in Aug '19. Does anyone know whats the cooling off period?

    • +2

      12 months

  • +6

It's weird that they are offering this through pointshack. A community aimed at getting max value from these offers and will churn. Don't see how this is profitable marketing.

  • How do people spend 2.5k in 3 months?

    • +3

You are clearly: Not married (to my wife), Have no kids and Don't own your own home.

      • $2.5k over 3 months works out to be ~$27 a day. As long as you have one big purchase and you have to pay a few bills, its’s pretty easy.

        • Ahh…. I see…

      • Haha married and got mortgage, genuinely not sure how to spend 2.5k during normal times, rates and strata and utilities doesn't hit 2.5k…

        • +2

We spend nearly that much in just groceries over 3 months… add in fuel, entertainment, utilities, medical bills, school supplies, birthday parties and gifts and really it is way too easy. Kind of jealous that you guys struggle to pay that much.

        • How much does your spouse spend? Hahahahaha

  • Noob question : is there any limitations to how I can use the 2500$? I am planning to use on International plane tickets.
