        • You and me (technically not me any more as I got through) and everyone else trying.

        • +1

          Who is Us?

Um us, like in the people on this site.

          Do you even OzBagain?

          • -1

@MrPants: Dont include me. I Ozbargain all the time but not deals like this which are offered to those in need :-)

            • +3

@Borg: There is no "need" for these mics.

If someone needed it, they would already have it and AT wouldn't be giving away $250k worth of them. It is not food, clothing or TP.

I agree many might not end up using them (this unfortunately happens in our materialistic society), but as long as people aren't getting multiple to resell or something, I see no issue getting one.

We get you are not claiming one. Get over yourself.

            • +4

@Borg: This isn't something I "need" as in, my job doesn't depend on it, but I "want" to help with meetings working from home and to catch up with a few virtual beers with friends over the next 6+ months. Trying to get a better experience.

Can I get by without it? Yes
Would it make the next 6+ months easier? Yes
              Do I need 2? No
Would I be disappointing if I miss out? No

              • @MrPants: Can you afford to buy one? If not, then great bargain and worthwhile grabbing as you have a genuine need and will make your life better in these crap times. My comment more relates to those that just buy for the sake of "Its Free" but in fact they have zero use for them other than a matter of interest, That's all.

                • @Borg: But that's the OzBargain way. Are you question the way? You heathen.

    • +4

      It's getting ozbDDOS

  • So annoying, actually need something like this but won’t work!

    • Patience young padawan. Keep trying.

        • +6

          Now now. Dont be greedy.

          • @xoom: Alright, just seemed I would probably use the AT9903 for good use. But I’ll wait till everything gets back to normal.

  • +1

BOOM (excuse the pun). Persistence beats resistance…. Thanks for contacting us! We will get in touch with you shortly.

  • +2

Managed to submit for the AT9903, hoping it goes through!
I work in a school and will use this to assist Teachers to create content for online learning.
If the school likes it, they'll probably purchase a few of them!

    • +1

So why dont you just buy one and claim it on tax?

      • -1

Do you buy things for other people and claim it on your own tax?

        • +1

No but if I need something s a teachers aid…I do..

  • Is this a successful lodgement?

"Thanks for contacting us! We will get in touch with you shortly."

    • +1

      Cross your fingers and toes.

  • +1

For those when click submit and the error page comes out, try pressing f5. On chrome a pop up might show up saying form re-submission, i clicked ok and the submission went through. Give it a go.

  • +1

So the give away value is $250,000 and most of them are $119 RRP so that’s around 2100 units. Hope I made the cut

    • +2

I got through when there was 4000 clicks. There is now over 40000 clicks lol.

      • +1

it's a good way to amass all those names, addresses and E-mail addresses to their mailing list.

        • Use a fake name disposable email fake phone.

    • +1

You did the first part of the math. The 2nd part of the math is that there are 43k clicks at the time of me writing this comment. Assuming even a mere 5% of those clicks went through, that's already 2150 units.

  • +1

My Videomic Micro died last week, so perfect timing.

    Hope it goes through!

    • +1

hit up RODE customer service, they will most likely just send you a replacement.

  • +1

Submitted one entry after refreshing once, hope it works

  • Got one by sitting on my PC and pressing F5 around 10-20 times, worked for a mate too.

Ironically I'll actually use the AT9920 that I ordered for PC gaming so I can change to my Audio Technica M40x's for a change. Unfortunately work won't let me use it from home as far as I'm aware (i might ask?).

I wonder if actually getting the "thanks for your submission" means that you got it or what?

    • +1

Doubt it, I'm guessing there will be more than $250k worth of claims, so first in best dressed probably.

  • Spammed F5 and got through to the page:

"Thanks for contacting us! We will get in touch with you shortly."

    Fingers crossed!

  • After the 20th time of entering my details and erroring out, I gave up.

  • How do people get to the next stage?

I enter my details and it gives me an error. I spam refresh then it eventually takes me back to the page asking me to enter my details again.

    • 10% to get through the submission. Keep trying I guess!

  • After refreshing many times, I got to this message, "Thanks for contacting us! We will get in touch with you shortly."

    Thanks OP!

  • Refresh for ages and success. Reminds me of eBay Plus Day sales

    How much are they worth

  • This has to be the most deal clicks ever! More than 46,000 clicks!

  • -1

Given the RRP below @ $250,000 value, there will be approx 720 units which can be distributed as follows:

    AT9903 @ $79 = approx 360 units
    AT9920 @ $119 = approx 216 units
    AT9947CM @ $149 = approx 144 units

    • I don't think the form has any limit on entry. I'm not sure they will honour all the orders placed here. There's always hope though but we're nearing 50,000 clicks. Assuming they don't all go through… that's still a large number

    • +4

Based on that maths it doesn’t add up to anywhere near $250,000?

      • +1

Sorry. My bad. Did it using Google sheets and mixed up my formulas.

        New calculation below:
        Option 1 of n:
        a) Total money $250,000
        b) 50% of $250,000 = $125,000 goes to $79 product
        c) 30% of $250,000 = $75,000 goes to $119 product
        d) 20% of $250,000 = $50,000 goes to $149 product
        e) $125,000 ÷ $79 = ~1,582 units
        f) $75,000 ÷ $119 = ~630 units
        g) $50,000 ÷ $149 = ~335 units

        Total units = ~2,548 units

Depending on the distribution of the total pool for each product at each price point will determine how many units will be available.

        • +2

I would say more likely they give away as many of each mic as people want, up to the $ cap. That way they don’t have people requesting inappropriate mics. They want people to use their tech correctly after all.

  • -2

Ordered one for me and one for the mrs. Let's see if we get anything. Highly doubt it

  • +1

If they didn’t know about OZB before they certainly do now!

  • Ya never know.

  • managed to place an order, fingers crossed

    thx OP :)

  • Think I submitted the form but I'm not sure if they were expecting this big of a response. Hopefully I got one :)

  • After couple times try, finally placed order. hopefully I can get contact.

  • +2

The site is up and running. I placed my order. The success page stated "Thanks for contacting us. We will get in touch with you shortly".

  • -1

hope so, really need 1 urgently :o

still not too late for the party

    • -1

lol yeah this would really come in handy tomorrow. Anyone who "needs" one will have to find a work-around until it arrives anyway…

so I should have ordered the one I'd like to have instead of the one I need

    • +2

I hope this was a joke.

If not, you're not an OzBargainer, you're a profiteer. They used to hang profiteers in ww2

      • +1

Lol calm your farm nazi hunter. Twas obviously a joke. Who needs 5 microphones at home lol. Was bored shitless and couldn't help but stir shit up.

  • And now, we play the waiting game.

  • Even at 57000 clicks, I get "Thanks for contacting us! We will get in touch with you shortly."…

Can only hope it goes through!

    • A bit of head maths. If they give away even numbers of each mic, and qualify the give away value at their retail price(ie not cost), then they'll give away a little over 2100 mics.

(looks up at 60000 clicks) might be a little late.

      • Can't hurt to try.

If you pick the cheapest model you might even get it.

  • +1

I'd actually use this for working from home.

  • Just completed the form.

  • Nice gesture and all but has no one realised if you're WFH right now and in desperate need of a mic, you'll probably receive these by the time Australia is lifting most pandemic-related restrictions by which time you'll be back in the office?

The shipping delays in the past two months (for electrical and computing goods especially) have been ridiculous, and all entry-level Audio Technica products are made in China.

    • +5

Everything I've ordered in the past two weeks (from Australia) has arrived in less than 3 days. I don't expect this to be that quick, but I don't think there's that much overhead.

    • +1

Couldn't this stock be over here?

  • Submitted mine, see if it goes through! Have pivoted to creating online content for a workgroup and the boundary microphone is exactly what I need! Cheers to the ozbargain community and Audio-Technica for such a community effort!

  • I was able to put through a form this morning 8:12am for a shotgun mic. Will see how it goes!

  • Yep website is up at the moment.
    Thanks OP

  • +4

Has anyone received a confirmation email or just the post message saying they'll be in touch after hitting submit?

Mine processed, just curious what the next point of contact is.

    • +5

Nope. Probably start on Monday once hiring Myer staff.

      • I shouldn't laugh but that did give me a LOL.

Valid observation though. I'm at work and I always forget normal folk don't work weekends. 🤦‍♂️

  • Thanks OP, we are actually working from home and this would be handy, they've just setup teams.
Also filled out form and hit order, who knows. Good brand though had a few pairs of headphones in the past.

  • I got through this morning!
65792 clicks as of this post.
Website not OZB'd because who has 65792 mics to supply?

  • Pretty sure most people (like me) would choose the 9920. This would leave more of the other models to claim.

    • +2

Yes, I ordered that one as well, planning to attach to the underside of my beach buggy roof.

  • Figured I'd resubmit this morning, in case it didn't record last night, with all the database errors etc

If they check for duplicates and get rid of the later entries then I hope it's alright

  • Thanks. Now the wait.

  • +3

i'm a teacher and running all my classes through online learning. the 9903 would really go a long way towards sound clarity for my students. thanks OP and thanks AT

  • Completed and submitted the form. Didn't get an acknowledgement message or email, just took me back to the offer page - anyone else get that?
*edit - just saw "Thanks for contacting us! We will get in touch with you shortly."

A generous offer - I guess we'll all find out soon enough if we were within the $250K's worth.

    • The page which appears will have a line which says : "Thanks for contacting us! We will get in touch with you shortly."
I think it is just above where you fill the order details/ select the mic type.

  • Thanks OP.

Just requested for a AT9903. Should help in creating screencasts.

  • Amazing initiative from Audio-Technica, ordered the lapel microphone for screencasting and should be really helping in making my infographic video for school. Many thanks OP, lifesaver

  • +2

Lol @ the number of upvotes, clicks and the expectation that this will be fulfilled

  • Got error, refresh the page. Dont know it is successful or not.

  • +5

I don't need one so I didn't submit, but good initiative.

    • That's such a considerate mindset to have.

I tip my hat to you, kind sir :0

  • Thanks for contacting us! We will get in touch with you shortly

Does that mean it went through to them and I am registered for one?

  • Very nice of Audio Technica

  • Amazing wow thank you!

  • +2

People should prepare to be disappointed.

  • Not sure how many stock they have prepared to give out, but after 1200+ up votes and still not showing out of stock, I hope they are not simply collecting personal information.

    • -3

      Well kinda.
This isn't a "deal". It's a competition so why the mods left it open I have no idea

    • Good point, I was thinking about that as I entered my details and was about to close the page; but the lure of a free microphone (of which I do actually have a need for) was too much.
I'm now regretting that decision! 😫

      • +1

The publicity they get is probably more the deal. In times gone by A.T. was a familar name as they were pretty much the go-to for low to mid range turntable manufacturers selling to those of us moving on from the BSR/Garrard vinyl lathes that came with consumer oriented stereograms [ furniture with the ability to emulate music usually using two 8" "Rola" speakers]. While their name is still up their with respectable earphones they may be wanting to take a good opportunity for good publicity.

I think they're a bit too big and extablished to want to sh*t their nest by abusing the info.

  • +1

Which one is best for Discord/Gaming?

    • This is actually a valid question, though I don't believe their intention is to give them away to gamers.

    • +5

None have RGB so all are poor for gaming.

    • the mic that attaches to your shirt

      • That ones appears to require a button battery unfortunately.
