Ryzen 5 3600 $285, 7 3700x $499, 960GB SSD $144 + More @ Shopping Express

720

ok prices from an aus seller + free surge protector thrown in for 2 or more items purchased together

edit: those asking for bargains - the cpu's are cheap (Ryzen 5 3600 is 285, 7 3700x 499), ssds ($144 for 960gb), steer clear of the b450 mobos (they cant run 4000 series),if you are just keen for the surge protector just add $7 thermal paste :p

    Any bargains?

    • 3900X for $729

      • I listed a few - but there are lots. its dealers choice really

        • Thanks mate!

The Zen 3 series just announced and I'll hold my breath on that, much better than the current generation, also cheaper, PCCG has 3300x listed for $205. Only catch is you have to buy the new gen B550 motherboard, B450 won't be supported with Zen 3 CPU.

    • +8

The 3 in 3600 and 3700X stands for gen 3, they’re both using Zen 2 with the same process and design. 3300x is just a 4 core part rather than 6 core. Up to you if you want to spend the extra $80 on 2 more cores. Zen 3 will be the 4000 series and nothing is expected until the end of the year

    • +9

I'm not sure why you got downvoted. All the chips out now are at best Zen 2, but you are right that Zen 3 is not compatible with 400/300 motherboards, which AMD just announced yesterday. This is really important as people were expecting Zen 3 / Ryzen 4000 to be compatible minimally with 400 boards, so it looks like a really bad arbitrary decision made by AMD. Reddit is blowing up at this moment with this news.

      • +7

The reason why he got downvoted is because he said that 3300x only works with the b550 MB. And that is wrong, how the others pointed out 3300x is zen2 not zen3. He may not have meant it but it is definitely how you read his statements.

        • Umm i watched the hardware unboxed video and they do mentioned 3100 and 3300x will not work with B450 motherboard, not sure why i got downvoted?

          • +1

@skinnybutt1: Kinda thought the same watching it but doesn’t sound right, I think the A320 and B350 aren’t compatible but even then I can’t see them blocking off support for just 2 zen2 parts that’d be weird … maybe it’ll depend on the bios and board manufacturer.. we’ll know more when they do a bit more analysis… I think they have a vid going up about it then.

Either way zen 3 isn’t supported and now it makes sense why 550 chipset took so long to come out …

          • +3

            @skinnybutt1: I think you're confusing "Zen 3" and "3000 series".

            https://community.amd.com/servlet/JiveServlet/showImage/38-2…

Support for 3000-series (including the 3100 and 3300X) is available on B450/X470. The not-yet-released Zen 3 4000 series is not currently slated to be officially supported on B450/X470.

I went to the extra trouble of looking through the Hardware Unboxed videos you're possibly referencing, and they literally say of the 3300X:

and it can paired with a $70 B450 motherboard […] and the same also applies to the 3100

This also does not conflict with their later video, which is mostly just rehashing the same information AMD has already released such as the infographic above. I.e. that Zen 3 won't be officially available on B450/X470, but that the 3000 series is.

    • 3300X is great especially if you do more gaming than editing. Compared to a 3600.

New Zen 3s won’t be out till late in the year tho.

    • I listed a few - but there are lots. its dealers choice really

        • nope

          I did.

          • -4

@[Deactivated]: I stand by my remark, the deal post didn't have any actual deals nor did it conform toe OzBargain deal posting guidelines.

            • +3

              @jace88: I honestly don't care. Have a great Saturday.

  • Is the RAM any good? I need new ram for my pc

    • Not sure sorry - you could try one of these videos? https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=which+ram+for+r…

They may point you in the right direction. Also, r/buildapc has some good advice for parts

    • +2

Yep the Crucial Ballistix listed are very good value. They overclock really well (3600 CL16 ~1.35v, CL14 possible at ~1.45v and 3800 CL16 ~1.40v, possibly CL14 at ~1.50v) so they're really good for Ryzen.

If you wanna know more just search up "Micron Rev. E overclock".

  • +3

    Any capitals??

  • +5

3900X is priced well, better than the Amazon US deals

I dont get the avoiding B450 for Zen3, how many people upgrade every generation? and dont bother to upgrade boards.
B550 is not out till mid June pending any availablity and prices will be higher being new…

    • +3

This will deliver sooner and support an Australian business. Its ofc your call, your money

The b450 comment I added in case folks hadn't heard the news yet. Lots of tomahawk max users I'm seeing are upset :(

      • Maybe I'm lucky? 3700x 4.4g allcore on B450 tomahawk max, never see issues in past 8 months. Pwr supply on b450 should be fine.

        • +1

3700x is part of the 3000 series, not 4000 series (which is where the compatibility problems begin apparently for anything below x570/b550). 3700x will work fine on your b450 for years to come though :)
Hardware Unboxed talked through it this morning if you are interested https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=av2hUxKypkE

          • @ImopI: Right I see! My plan will be upgrade my machine wholly when 6700x coming on year of 202x…

          • +1

@ImopI: I purposely decided to go x570 mobo for my 3700x build last year, so I'd have at least 1, maybe 2 generations worth of future proofing with AMD CPUs.

        • +1

They're talking about people who are planning to upgrade to the upcoming Zen 3 CPUs.

      • +2

I literally ordered a new B450 and 1600AF yesterday. Oh well. My old i2500k has served me well for about 7 years! Don't have the $ to spend on the next gen CPU's anyway.

        • +1

I got the same setup. Overclocked to 2600 levels and never looked back. Awesome chip.

    • B450 is essentially a dead chipset, standard advice for people building new systems is to have at least another generation upgrade path down the line. Of course if you're happy with 3000 series performance right now (and think you will be for however long you intend to keep it), then get B450. Otherwise, B550 is so close, why not wait another month.

There's many people who built systems with a 1600, 2600 or 1600 AF on the cheap, with expectations of upgrading to 4600 with their B450 MAX motherboard. False expectations as AMD never committed to supporting Zen 3 on B450, and the fact they never made a statement so far into 2020 was always a bad sign.

  • $10 shipping to Melbourne makes this less appealing than I want though

also the Ryzen 3600 isn't that cheap considering it was 279 from them just over a week ago
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/534628

and 285 three weeks ago too
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/531473

    • Just bought one yesterday $299 :(

    • It has been cheaper, and shipping is an expense for most vendors (centercom don't charge shipping, you could look into them?). But you can't do much with expired deals :)

      • except my argument is is that these go on sale every other week from these guys

I'll admit it's a good deal, but waiting might not be a bad idea here (although that "waiting for better" is a longterm trap)

  • How much difference is the 4000 series to 3000 anyway? rather get ryzen 3600. The ryzen 2600 cost $280 exactly 1 year ago

    • +14

      Exactly 1000 difference.

    • i got my Ryzen 2600 for 200$ in Sept 2018 (price was 249 + 20% off ebay code)

  • +3

    I need monitor sale!

    • +1

With everyone switching to work from home it was hard for me to even find stock for what I wanted, let alone a deal

    • Same here. Though planning to wait till either EOFY or xmas to spend my Kogan credit

  • Have anyone receive any product with these guy for the last 2 weeks? my parcel got stuck in Melbourne for like a week now still haven't arrived. 2X 2070super Galax.

    • +2

Yeah I got a 3600 it took about 3 weeks to be delivered

    • +1

I ordered a 3600 and G.Skill 3200 32GB RAM on 3rd May and received it on 7th, which suprises me a bit given the delay these days.

    • I ordered the Crucial P1 when it was 169, only took 4 days from date of order placed to receiving item. Hope everyone has the same experience but doesn't look like it…

    • A friend and I ordered a 5700 XT Mech OC from them yesterday and it came today but we both live in Sydney.

  • +1

Try to find an Asus ROG B450-i Strix for my Ryzen 3600.

    • I managed to get one last week from Computer Alliance on eBay for $251 delivered. Doesn't look like they have any more in stock. PCCG and Austin have them for $269 + postage.

      • Thank you for your reply. I think I can get it around $249, which is not a bargain, haha.

        • +2

Careful if you intend to upgrade CPU, B450 series is not compatible with upcoming Ryzen 3 4000 series processors.

  • Which SSD 1tb $144, may i have link please?

  • 3600X for $339 pretty good as well

  • Buying 2 thermal pastes can get the free surge protector?

Where can we find those $29 SSD once abundant? Probably not possible now due to AUD so low.

  • +1

B450 mobos right now are priced through the roof lol. MSI Mortar max is pushing prices close to the x series boards.

    • Yeah, I was hoping prices would drop to make way for the new B550 in June.

  • Waiting for crucial mx500 1tb deal. Gotta refresh my PC and wanna upgrade ssd in the process.
