I have one of these (Paid about $70 last year), they are awesome, highly recommend, especially when u need to copy sht in a hurry, they are FAST.
    Refurbished? not sure about that.

  • these USB 3.0 BAC?

    • if you are asking if they are backwards compatible, then its an irrelevant question. Most motherboards only supply 1-2 USB 3 ports, the rest are USB 2.

      • BAC - by any chance. I already knew they are backwards compatible. Also using a regular USB2.0 in a USB3.0 port gives you better speeds than using the old USB2.0 ports -> Something to to with legacy drivers

Seeing the fast speeds I assumed they might be USB3.0 but being refurbs , speeds are slower than the usual 60 Write/100 Read

Putting in BAC was pointless, you could have left it off and people would know what you are talking about.

  • I would be staying away from referb flash, normally it would mean bad sectors on the drive which then translates to a higher failure rate. I have been using high speed drives for years, they are the only way to go.

    • Yeah there isn't much else than can fail in a usb stick other than the flash itself is there? Which really does make buying something like this pretty risky.

Could also have been a fault with the cases not being sealed properly or something as well I suppose.

i have a flash voyager here in front of me… These things are HUGE. Very hard to use the other USB port when this is plugged in…

Wow, checkout the reviews on amazon and almost every other forum online. Steer clear.

I came so close to buying this (I just had to hit confirm in Paypal).

    DO NOT BUY THIS DRIVE!!!

The UK return alone made me think twice.

    • Wow. And I here I though that big companies cared about their brands reputation. 0.o

    • almost bought one then saw refurb and stopped. Anyone recommend a 32gb drive? I'm okay with middle of the road speeds.

Patriot XPorter Rage (32GB for $59 at MSY). I got a 16GB one for $29 and never looked back. If you're intending to use it to copy movies, i definitely recommend it. Tested it against my normal Sandisk drive. Write speeds (using Win7) was 5-7 MB/s for Sandisk, and 18-22 MB/s for Patriot. Thats like 10 mins vs 30 mins of waiting.

I would recommend a lexar or sandisk USB drive, they are both tip top brands and are always fighting each other to the top position in terms of technology bragging rights. I personally use a lexar ze echo USB drive, they are tiny (basically I leave it in the computer) and have decent speeds and have back up software. I brought mine from jb hifi - well worth the money and has not missed a beat. I use it every day. Cheers

  • Yeah, I saw this a few months back and read that it was the supreme shit edition. So buy at your own risk.

  • I had RMA'd 2 of them, receiving a new one each time which then lasted 1-2 months only, and was about to do the 3rd when I checked online again and found they released a flash utility that resolved the issue for many months now (firmware update), no problems since then so these might be the returned ones flashed with the new working firmware

  • Refurbed flash drive? Hell no. Flash memory is unreliable at the best of times.

  • Hate to break it to you guys but most drives have remapped sectors! None are perfect

I've always wanted one of these but they were so damn expensive, so I bought the Patriot XPorter Rage. The Patriot is very quick compared to any other USB drive I've used and I'm absolutely impressed with it, but I heard this is even faster. Did my research Voyager GTR, the problems that everyone has been experiencing was due to firmware issues. Corsair have created an update to the firmware. You can find it here: http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91444. I'm hoping that these refurbished ones were returned due to the firmware problem and nothing else. I just bought one. Wish me luck.

Refurbished? Also this model is like 5 years old…

      i don't think 32Gb usb drives existed 5 years ago…

My advice is to stay away from these drives unless you plan to baby them…
The read/write speed is great but the soft rubber cover is useless.
I owned one for 9 months a few years ago before the USB plug snapped off in my pocket. The only thing holding the plug to the circuit board was the solder! The soft rubber case offered zero protection to that fragile joint. For a so called "premium" brand product charging a premium price I was incredibly disappointed Sandisk Cruzer Titanium is the only way to go in my opinion.

    • I agree. I own a similar Corsair GT. While the speed is awesome do not attempt to use this on your keys or anything that may weigh down the drive. The plug bent so EASILY.

If you need a sturdy USB that won't break at the plug, my best experience has been HP:
      http://www.shopping.hp.com/product/computer/categories/stora…

Sure it's not fast but at least you know it won't break.

  • Just picked one up, hopefully the firmware update will/has fixed up the problem. Hoping to get all of my normally installed things (Win7, Office, apps, etc) all onto one disk to simplify reinstalls.

  • Hmmmmm I too was just about to jump onto one of these but you read the reviews and some of the threads at the Corsair forums SPECIFICALLY pertaining to the problems with this exact model and clearly there is a major problem with this item.

People talk of having RMA'd 3+ times. Very cost prohibitive to do that here in Australia. I'd steer clear as seems a very unstable product. Shame. :-/

    • A lot of the problems seems to be with the firmware, and it seems a lot of the posters who are having to RMA the drives have not updated to the latest firmware as requested.

At least that's what I'm hoping!

  • haha, it is not expensive.
