  • Well I was on the checkout screen with the coupon in place and was just needed to hit the Confirm and buy button. I still didn't get it because Ebay gave a error saying can't purchase, lol.

  • +2

Wow, during my Command-R refresh frenzy, I saw a Buy Now button flash up, but the server returned an Insufficient Quantity error message when I clicked it. According to the listing history, all gone in 17 seconds! https://offer.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBidsLogin&ite…

    • 17 second thing is complete utter bs.

I think Ebay is glitching out with that or the cart method no longer works.

      • It was done before then, I kept refreshing since 1:59PM and as soon it hit 2PM, it was displayed 213 sold

    • +1

Most were gone in 7-9s except for 1

  • +3

I put the code in but forgot to apply it when I clicked pay. Thankfully it was out of stock lmao

  • I was stuck in Checkout and missed. I will try to click the Confirm and pay when it comes back at 6PM.
If I don't get it then bye bye Ebay plus,,,, forever.

    • +1

see you again in September for next drop

    • it's kind of funny though it's like tossing the only piece of ham in a pit with hundreds of hungry hyenas. is it worth the time? it depends, somebody can probably use their valuable time to make up the difference and buy it leisurely.

      • You're right, it's waste of time. But I am very bored now so I can invest my time in, but all honesty this ebay mob is a joke and nothing different to the clickfrenzy mob.

  • I'm such an idiot l0l I just realised I was using a card that didn't have enough funds (I use it to buy stuff online). Just transferred the amount, hopefully it works at 6

    • Does it ask for the CVC after you hit "Confirm and Pay"? My credit card is already loaded, so I've used it before for eBay purchases. I usually use Paypal though heard it is too slow for quick draw eBay plus sales.

  • Vindication. This morning I was so quick but ebay stuffed up having the wrong code in the green banner but the right code in print below it. I used the wrong code as it was the first thing I saw. I heard someone did same and complained to ebay.

Anyway I had everything in cart and correct code already applied then I spammed the payment button a few secs before 2pm and scored one.

You will not succeed if you're doing anything else other than spamming the payment button a few secs before the time.

    • 10am this morning, clicked the banner, copied coupon code from the listing, clicked "add to cart", clicked check out,
pasted coupon code in, clicked apply, clicked confirm and buy, scored one. feeling so lucky.

      • I think you're a chosen one. You should buy a lotto ticket and intro yourself to the next Miss Universe. Keep scoring!

      • +1

why would you add it to cart first? wouldn't "buy it now" direct you to checkout page where you can apply coupon in the bottom as well? may well be a sec or two faster I guess

        • that was my mistake but still made it.

  • +3

I had a pop up that something in my cart was sold out but clicking on my cart showed nothing. How do you keep it in your cart?

  • +6

A lot more newbie accounts winning this time. No doubt experienced double dippers…

  • +3

I get a: "This item isn't available in the requested quantity. It may have been purchased already, or the listing has expired."

Seems item doesn't stay in cart anymore, at least for some.

    • yeah didn't stay in my cart I got the same error. spewing!

  • +7

I received an email with the heading "Join eBay Plus to score this hot AirPods Pro deal". Pretty misleading, imagine paying the fees to join, then to realise that you are entering a lottery.

  • +2

From the last drop 20% were account holders with 0 activity. Interesting.

    • Not really IMO. 25,000+ clicks on this deal, it's just lurkers who don't use the site much but comment when they miss out on a hot deal or something.

      • +1

This is referring to ebay account activity not ozbargain :)

        • Oh, right. Fair enough then!

    • It's hard competing against bots

      • if you had the technical know-how to script this process, you would be all over it, as we all would.

  • +6

I got to the buy it now page, pasted the code but the 'apply' button stayed greyed out. I couldn't get it to accept the coupon at all.

    • +1

Same! In fact, for me, when I tried to paste the code, it didn't clear the "enter code here" pre-filled text so I was very confused looking at a bunch of garbled letters in the coupon field.

      • Yup, exactly the same :(

  • Everyone keeps saying bots are buying all the deals up. I've managed to buy every single time there's a promo and I haven't got bots. Looking forward to my new airpods pro

    • are you using Gigabit internet??

      • Download speed doesn't matter but ping does. I'm using a VPN which gives me a slower ping at 20ms Just need to have the item in your cart and click buy the next round.

        • What VPN mate?

          • @Karimov: Its my work computer and they force us to use a VPN for security. I don't use it for speed. I just don't have a personal laptop with me which is why I have to go down the slower route

            • @neilpatrickharris: Oh, I thought you were using VPN which improved your ping haha. Good for ya!

              • +1

                @Karimov:

Oh, I thought you were using VPN which improved your ping haha. Good for ya!

Using a VPN will only slow down your download speed and/or increase your ping. Impossible to speed it up.

    • +2

Not sure why I got negged for this. You can see from the comments plenty of people managed to get airpods. I guess people who struggle aren't following the technique…

      • -1

probably because you sound like the people who say 'how can there be starving people when I just ate?'

        • You can't possibly be comparing the two, but I understand how some people who saw advertisements on ebay about getting cheap airpods and signed up to ebay plus as a result wouldn't know that they'd be sold out in a matter of seconds. For those that have done this in the past, the technique has been mentioned many times

          • @neilpatrickharris: Hey mate how do you add it to cart and apply the coupon to be ready? I've got it in my cart but as it is out of stock I'm unable to check out or apply the voucher code. Should I leave this in my cart or remove it?

            • @Rode: Leave it in the cart

              • @harry2015: Thanks Harry.

                • @Rode: In the same boat, I’ll start to click the Confirm and Pay a few seconds before 6pm. Let’s See if I’ll get one finally. Good luck.

                  • @Unacceptable: I missed it lol out of stock refreshing my cart didnt show it as available. How did you go mate? Hope you got one!

          • @neilpatrickharris: I did that and it didnt work

    • They aren't completely wrong.
if you look at the history of purchases 20% of them are 0 or 1 feedback score.

      • i have feedback of 3 but been on ebay for many years and had an ebay plus membership for a year+. I just dont buy/sell that much. Scored two headphones manually btw.

        • Two seperate pairs? Interested in selling one pair to me? :)

      • But why would that indicate that bots are purchasing? If bots have been purchasing all along then they will use the same account as they did previously which would have a track record and a higher feedback score.

      • +5

Those are just people that have created new accounts to get the free eBay Plus trial.

  • +1

Ah.. the bots win 20-30% of the time…

you look at purchase history… the amount of 0 or 1 review buyers..

    • +1

prob just new accounts created with ebay plus trial for this deal.

  • +1

Good luck to everyone for the 6 pm drop.

    • +1

Thanks… though I'm fully prepared for Refresh. Refresh. Refresh. Sold out!

      • if its not in the cart already, dont waste your time

  • Are they really that much better than the normal Airpods? Been reading up the last half hour but I just dunno if I can come to like the full in earness of them!

    • +1

if you take public transport, get this.

      • it picked up people convo really good

  • Insane

  • Got it baby!

  • +1

Sold out, this time it stays in the checkout page… lol thanks ebay. Congrats to those that won! Annoyed that I tried at 2pm and got "Something went wrong. Please try to check out again." So it abandoned my cart.

  • Finally nabbed one, the save in cart from 2pm trick worked for me. Thanks OP

  • Finally! Had checkout page open from earlier and was spamming the confirm button.

  • Snagged a pair! :)

  • +1

Damn I had it in the cart and I still didn't manage to buy it, end up with "We noticed a problem. Please review: your items."

  • +4

Wow… had it in my cart from the 2pm run, with coupon applied, payment method selected and still missed out.

    • Same. Bummer.

    • +1

That's what happened to me at 2pm lol. Don't know why:(

  • GOT ONE FINALLYYYYY. thru app

    • Did you have it in your cart from 2pm? If yes, how did you retain it in the cart for 4 hours? As I had the airpods the other day in my app cart but when I opened it after some time it refreshed and the cart became empty, very frustrating

      • yes. I just don't use my phone lol. I managed to get it on Monday as well.

        • Please reveal your technique

  • +2

FFS, hit Buy It Now, added Code, clicked Confirm & Pay - none left.

    • +1

      Same here

  • +1

You've got to be kidding me.

  • WOO got one thanks so much ozb!! Also thanks so much to all the ozbargainers that commented to help others out. So nice!!

This one came out a bit later at like 6:00:30, but there were more of them by the looks of it.

  • +3

4 seconds - thats gotta be a record.

  • bloody hell. i could NOT have been faster and i still missed out :/

  • Spent $249, saved $150

    • +10

Spent $0, saved $249. Beat that.

      • Obviously you don't buy 2 much.

  • Goe one, thanks for the tip with searching chrome history!

    • What is the chrome history trick?

  • +2

YAY! I finally got some too! I also had some in checkout from 2pm.
I had my cc saved in there too, and just kept spamming the ''confirm and pay'' button!

    • +1

Ditto the same for me, finally got one.. thanks for everyone who shared that technique. cheers Op

  • +2

Each drop there should be a slight change in the listing to give everybody a fair chance to compete

    • +2

And block those newbie accounts from serial buyers circumventing the 1-limit :-p

  • Had it in my cart and spammed it but still get them… sighhh

  • How may people actually got it through app? Have a feeling the app refreshes faster lol

  • +1

    Got one.

Thanks guys for the tips about using Credit Card.

    • yep, I realised that CC was best way. Too many clicks for PayPal.

  • Got to the your order was placed page, but no money taken out of account and no confirmation email. Doesn't appear to be showing in my purchase history. Anybody else have this? Feels like I missed it.

    • Sorry to say you've missed it. It's happened to people in the past. If you don't get the email and the credit card charge it hasn't been purchased.
