        • Wednesday's Oporto $5 credit came through today (Sunday).

  • Spoken with customer services and was confirmed that this was a TARGETED offer and went live at 12:01 on 10 June 20 AEST. So people who don't have this offer showing in their accounts won't have access to it. I wonder how true is that. In another word there is no manual enrolment form/link.

    • I just got a similar response. Instead of targeted they used the word 'solicited'. Not sure why this offer hasn't been marked as targeted as it's clearly not available to everyone.

      • During my conversation with customer services he also used word solicitation. He said the offer is based on solicitations. He also said my card is a brand new card which normally don't get offers.

3 transactions at 12.38, 13.06 and 13.17 today at regular SS businesses but no emails received. I haven't received an Amex email since May 29 but have used offers 5 times since then and received the credits.

    • Used it at 12 today, no email for me as well.

    • +1

Used a couple of offers on the weekend did not receive a single confirmation email but received credits yesterday.

    • same :(

    • just wondering have you guys received $5 back yet? i have used it twice but haven't got any cashback yet. thanks :-)

      • +1

When did you use them? It can take a few days to credit the $5

      • +1

All my transactions from June 10th paid the credits despite no emails received. However I am still yet to receive credits on 1 transaction from June 14th and 2 transactions from June 17th. No emails received either in these cases. However I am receiving emails and credits now for all transactions since then.

  • +2

Amex's map is so dodgy! They show the ASIC registered name and not the trading name which makes it very confusing!

  • Appeared on my Explorer and my one supp.

  • +13

Just went to Wu's pharmacy, the gentleman offered me $60 Opal card recharge and split them into 6 transactions which is $10.2 each (including 2% surcharge), 6 times.

Could be the best place for Opal card recharge.

    • +2

Ah good old Mr Wu :)

    • This is 6 different cards right?

      • Yes, 6 different cards

    • Did you get email confirmation after your transactions? I just used my card at the local fruit shop but no email…

    • Is their address 629 George St, Haymarket?

    • +2

Wu, the legend we don't deserve

    • +1

Received the $5 back, 6 times.

      • +1

I am still waiting for the credit, purchased done on Wednesday - 10 June.

        • Same here

          • +1

@SomeGuyOnOzB: Update: Received some of the credits today. Purchased on Wednesday (10 June) and Thursday(11 June), received some credits today and some still waiting.

  • Daisy at xx:xx, Jun 10:
Thank you for your interest to participate in the offer !

    Daisy at xx:xx, Jun 10:
The offer is being rolled out in phased manner on some cards but the official start time is 5PM AEST. This is being done to avoid technical errors during the official start time, as it is a very popular offer and we are expecting maximum number of participation in it.

    Daisy at xx:xx, Jun 10:
Offers are sent to a limited number of Card Members and many factors are considered for which offer you may receive. As a valued Card Member, you may be sent offers tailored to your account based on a variety of factors and the types of promotions that are available. An offer may be sent based on where you live, spending habits and the type of Card you have

*I was told something different earlier today, and now they say it is targeted.

Preliminary searchable list of AMEX shop small stores. Should have ~80% of them here, script crashed near the end didnt pick everything up will rerun & update the same link later.

    • A big thankyou

Edit: it's loading for ages. Anyone had any luck?

    • Cheers Fishball.

      Your document is incredibly useful.

    • Brilliant work.

If you're reading this and want to sort/filter just go File menu -> Make a copy

    Allied Mart 379 Pitt Street

The guy was happy to top up $60 and accepted 3 different cards payment $20 each. No surcharge & question asked.

But he did mention that they would not normally do that (top up one card $60 and charge $20 third times).

Just top up $20 separately and pay separately should work no problem at all.

They cannot split the payment into $10 amount.

    • -5

Mate…you know it's 5 dollars per participating shop right?

      • You do know that the minimum top up for Adult Opal Cards at a retailer is $20, right?

        • -6

Yeah, but you're only going to get 5 dollars back for spending $60… what's the point of doing it 3 times in separate transactions? You're better off doing it in different stores lol

          • +2

@Bargain reaper: Re-read the initial comment:

top up $60 and accepted 3 different cards payment $20 each.

            $5 per card = $15 back.

            • -7

              @hamza23: Oh… 3 different cards with offers…nice 3 amex cards…

  • -1

Seems like the Opal Shop Small Google Map is no longer useful in Sydney, as no convenient stores or newsagents are in this campaign. Have anyone found some ?

  • I assume that those who couldn't save the shop small offer in their cards are still in the same situation? No one has had it appear now?

We'll mark it as targeted if so, there was some mention of 5pm or 6pm so just holding off before calling it.

    • Definitely targeted. This has been identified by multiple people.

  • Yep targeted…

I checked all 9 cards this morning at about 8:30am and my 2 main cards and 2 sup cards got the offer.

Checked again just now on the remaining 5 sup cards that didn't get the offer then, status quo!

    • Thanks for confirming and checking again, have marked the deal as targeted. Please report if anything changes in the future.

  • Is topping up Opal still the best way to go?
Not sure when coming back to office so very little use of Opal for foreseeable future.
Opal credits do not expire, do they?

    • Opal credit maximum 9 years, virtually no expiry

  • Are Eckersley's art shops franchises? I noticed a few of their stores are listed for SS but not the ones near me.

  • Without much use of public transport currently, it's slightly harder to use all these credits.

  • Just did my first shop small purchase at lunch earlier, didn't get a notification email so I hopped on live chat and they got it all sorted.

  • +1

For those who still travel by public transport, Halfpenny Pharmacy in Coburg does Myki top ups.

  • how many sup cards can you have?

    • Depends on what card you have

    • 4.

  • westpac amex black, a basic velocity and basic qantas one

  • does not seem to be much on map in brisbane southside

  • I am not receiving the confirmation emails after spending >$10 at a shop like all previous years. Has Amex stopped this?

  • -2

Are you able to use the same card in different transactions at the same store?

    • No. Read the terms and conditions.

    • +5

Sure, but you'll only get one credit.

  • +7

My local Myer is on the list. I didn't realise that they are doing so badly that they are now a small business.

    • Wrest Point “casino“ in Tas has been added as well.

    • +1

      Myer Chadstone?

    • One Myer store is and yet another is not. But they are not franchises.
In fact, the big store (Chadstone) is, and the small one (Knox) is not. Rather strange.

    • Myer is no longer on the list. Has been removed.

      • Not surprised - it does look like a mistake, to begin with.
But good on those who managed to benefit before they remove.

  • +1

Cashback does not show up for me after waiting for two days. Is there anyone else having the same issue?

    • Maybe read the terms and conditions?

Credit should appear on your billing statement within 5 business days from qualifying spend but may take up to 90 days from the offer end date.

    • Purchases from Wednesday will probably have credit on your account tomorrow (Saturday).

      • Nope…definitely not there….we are going to miss out! Who do we ring! :)

        • Check again. Mine are there.

          • @SydneySwan: Yep your right, just appeared. Worried that they diddled me! :) :)

      • +2

Just checked and my Wednesday purchases received credits on Sunday. There was even a credit for a business that wasn't on the list, so that was good

  • +1

    Went to Hopkins Asian grocery
118a Hopkins street Footscray this morning.

The old lady said she didn't sign up this year and wasn't sure why her store was on the shop small list

    • +2

There is no sign up process. The only control a retailer has over being part of Shop Small, if their business qualifies for it, is to opt out.

    • +1

      Thanks.

I think your list isn't filtered for shop small businesses ? (It includes some Chemist Warehouses ?).

Would you be able to a post a version of the list with the Shop Small Filter applied ?

      • +3

Oh. Didn't realise there was a shop small filter this year.

Thought everything on the map ok.

        Give me a few days.

  • +2

Any good suggestion for online purchase? Looks pretty chanllenging to use up these on my 20 x cards😂

    • 20 cards.. how!

      • Are you new?

        • I know the concept is 5xsupp cards for each primary card but I don't have that many members in my family.

          • +1

@ozbargainerlife1: No one does. But do you have a dog?

            • +1

@DrRalph: They sometimes ask for id verification for additional cards.

            • @DrRalph: I don't… how does this dog amex sup thing work. do you mind explaining please? it asks for DOB etc on the supplementary application form. Once they asked me ID docs for a supp application as well so how do people get around it?

              • @ozbargainerlife1: Hope they don't ask you for ID. I've opened up three supp cards without ID however I've also been with Amex for over seven years and two of the supps I used a legitimate driver licence number (thanks Dad!)

              • @ozbargainerlife1: I've got a main and 4 supps all under the same name - nothing stopped me, and I'm real…
