Not at our woollies on the gold coast. You have to buy two lynx products to get it , they don't have a price tag like your photo
Do you mean you can just go up to the register with one?

  • +2

Oh wow, what's its sound quality and build like?

    • +12

      It's 1c. Who really cares??

      • +12

Well, if these are just pure crap and destined for landfill, i really don't want manufacturers putting this junk out.

      • +7

Because you may effectively be paying 1c and wasting your time to drive out there and pick collect their garbage if it just gargles water at you.

        • -1

if it can gargle b@11s I'm in!

          wait..too much info?

        • +4

          "…gargles water at you."

It's that sort of sense of humor that makes life worth living - thanks for putting a smile on my face!

        • +3

Fans of dubstep might like that.

    • +8

My goodness, only ozbargain would ask about quality on a 1cent item. Wow.

  • +3

Sound Quality isnt that bad and build is pretty solid. Runs on its own power no batteries

    • +1

That means it needs external amplification. (Quite the opposite!)

    • Thanks for the info!

  • Which store?, this isnt all stores is it?

    • +1

Should be all NSW stores as its in the catalogue this week, they should all by default scan at $0.01, provided your not silly enough to buy the lynx with them. Check at a store with self serve registers

      • which store was this from?
I might go and check out Burwood westfield…

  • +71

Under the Ozbargain code, you need to buy 7 for 7 cents and only end up paying 5 cents.

    • +9

I considered buying 12 for 10 cents but only bought 10 … thought id save some for some other oz bargainers

    • +1

What happens if you buy 2 and pay cash - do you get it for free?

      • +2

No idea, as i bought 5 in 2 transactions they might round to nothing, maybe someone else who buys one can confirm

        • +29

Cool, are you building a home theatre?

      • +11

a friend bought 1 small chilli once when i was on registers, it came up as 2c

i clicked cash, the receipt just came out (draws didn't open).

so it should be free, but i would go to self serve, or a teenager that doesnt give a sh*t, or they might not let you

      • +1

Yep, would most likely be free, as it rounds down to 0cents

There was another 1cent product at K-mart which was similar to this situation

    • +19

Thats not the ozbargain spirit, buy 7 in 7 different transactions and pay nothing.

      • -7

I doubt they would let you do that. For maximum profit buy in orders of 5, so that you get 2 free each time

    • definitely not

    • +1

I've seen quiet a few in my time

  • +5

Have the recepit to prove it too but cant upload two images

    • +6

Maybe I was wrong, sorry I meant no offense.

      • +6

Why would anyone neg vote an apology? That's just daft.

        • +5

          It's a sign of weakness ??

        • Yeah, have had that before as well, doesn't make sense to me at all

  • Any idea if this offer is in VIC stores too?

    • yes, i got one in werribee

      • +1

        Thanks imohawki :o)

    • I just saw this and pop into my car and went to Woolies but they didn't have the speaker on the shelves only at the register. So basically I have to buy two lynx for it and I didn't! Pity at Bankstown Woolies they didn't have it on the shelves. Did other stores put them accessible on the shelves? My store has the self serve registers pity!

  • Most things that woolworths give away come up as 1 cent if you scan them. Just a matter of finding a staff member who will let you do it. They normally keep the give aways behind the counter also so it's hard to get away with. If you can do it stock up though :)

    • Options

(if you do find it separately)

      1) Self Serve Checkout
      2) But with other items

  • +8

What is this 5 for 5 cents foolishness. A true OzBarginer would pick up 7 for 5 cents!

    • Extreme ozBargainist..! Thumbs up!

    • +2

Or go in 4 times and pick up 8 for nothing. Hahaha. :)

  • Has anyone other than OP bought one yet?

    • I got one for 1c in werribee victoria

      Imohawki has

  • +1

I got one for 1c in werribee victoria

  • Anyone try ACT stores?

    • Plenty at the Queanbeyan store if you don't mind driving there. I picked up some tonight and there were probably 100 left on the shelf. They have self serve checkouts too - so an easy purchase. Just tested one and the volume is not very loud on my computer.

      • I thought that wasn't ACT?? (pls ignore my aimless pedantry!)

        • yeah, Most Canberrans wouldn't like Qbn to be associated with ACT, but sadly they touch borders and Qbn is hardly a 10 min ride from inner south suburb of ACT.

Of course you're in Brissie and unless you've lived here before, you prob don't GAF

        • I was just trying to be helpful. Not trying to imply that Queanbeyan is in the ACT. Just pointing out that there were heaps on the shelf at Queanbeyan Woolworths which may be useful to ACT residents due to the relatively short drive.

  • +6

got a few myself. theyre in plain black boxes located near the deodrants. the cashier told me theyre not for sale so i went to the self serve

  • +9

Man this could be the beginning of the best prank every. They wake up to 100 speakers in their front yard and all it cost you is a dollar LOL

  • Are people buying this by itself, or with other items?

    • +2

With other random items, ice creams, cream buns……..

  • Okay just picked up a few, there plenty left at Macquarie centre 1C each.

At the back near the freezer section at the end of the aisle not in the deodorent section!

  • Will have to get some! Is it louder than using the default speaker?

    • +1

Just, nah they are prett good for 1c

    • its louder than iphone 3gs speakers. dont know about other speakers though

  • I got one from Sydney Store :)

    • I didn't see it in Sydney store. Which section are they?

  • W.T.F

    how do I pay in 1 cent…

    • +1

      Credit Card/Savings Card: 1cent
      Cash: 0cents

      • If you try buying 1 with cash they'll either round it up or refuse to serve you.

        • self-serve checkouts

        • thats right. it wont go through. throw it in with your groceries and they wont even notice

        • +2

          I bought $1.95 Tim Tams & 2 speakers at self-serve check out - paid $2 & got 5c back. So 2 free speakers. Very self-serving.

  • +1

heaps at ashfield and burwood NSW. at the end of the deo aisles. warning- def worth 1cent!

    • I found the sound quality to be acceptable. There's certainly no thumping bass or anything, but if you simply want to make your iPhone louder, these do the job.

They could be a lot worse.. I'm happy with them.

  • Anyone got a photo of the actual speaker?

    • If you go through the current catalouge there is a picture there, with the promotion.

    • i can upload one but dont know how to do that here. its basically a ball that splits in half. the cord wraps around the centre. its for 2 flat sides so when you open it, it sits on an angle. black on the outside and white on the inside

      • +5

So exactly the opposite to Eminem…good to know :)

        • hahahaa

      • +3

I went looking for speakers which matched your description but ended up buying Oreo cookies.

        • still 2 flat sides and black on the outside and white on the inside

        • -1

          That's what she said

    • +1

They are the size of a tennis ball that opens up, half for each speaker - plugs into the headphone socket.

    • +5

      http://i51.tinypic.com/wb7z3c.jpg

here's a pic (can't figure out how to do images within the posts)…sorry for the dodgy quality, but you get the idea.

size of a tennis ball, plug wraps around neatly inside. no batteries, hence the sound quality.
to be honest, it's about same quality as my 3GS phone speaker, but it'll make a nice stocking filler :P

  • show ur ozbargain spirit mate, buy 2 then u get for free, coz they have to round down 2 cent to 0

  • +8

this deal SOUNDS good to me :D

    • +2

      Oh that's terrible…

      • +19

        Did you mean, treble?

      • +3

Terrible? What are you BASS'ing that on? :P

  • +1

damn ingleburn Woolworths doesnt have self registers and the staff said u can only get them with buying 2 lynx ?!? wtf… guess i ll try the city store when work tomorrow

  • +1

Quite a few left at Blacktown. Could not find any at Seven Hills (NSW)

  • Going to see if they have any at Woolies @ Liverpool Westfields tomorrow

  • Lady at the woolies near me wouldn't put it through, said you needed to buy linx blah blah blah, and the woolies that has self serve didn't stock any :(

  • +6

JUST a FYI, a lot of the stores, have put them behind the counter now, went to 3 and the same case in all 3. I actually went and bought 2 Lynx cans just to see where they were. The manager lady told me, apparently too many people bought just the speakers and left, so they got a action memo to put them behind the counter.

    • +3

Goddamn Woolworths trying to rip us off :P

    • lol

      they got ozbargained!

  • Is it just mine or is the sound not even loud enough to hear against street traffic

    • -1

Buy two and wear them as headphones.

  • Went to Bass Hill Woollies, grab 1 and they did put it through, end up buying 2 lynx shower gel. Speaker out put is not that great though, sound volume is less than my samsung galaxy S1

  • FYI: Gosford & Erina NSW stores are wised up to this and have removed them off the shelves, now at the customer service desk so you can only get them by showing the purchased lynx product :(

    EDIT: Oh, beaten by kash…

  • +1

Can mod please un Meg my vote? If I can someone let me know how :)
