Great deal for a first post, well done.

    AMD Ryzen owners:
get 2 to ensure you get the best performance.

    • Ye this is a really good deal, 2 for $192 is great 2x16 are rarely under $200

      • It's about what it's worth now. The price of ram is coming down first 8gb, now 16gb. So it's good for now, but in a month, most likely not

    • How does this work if I already have 2x8 gb of Trident Z ram that are 3200MHz. I cant just mix and match can I? My current settings only sitting at 3000Mhz at the moment. Any help is much appreciated.

      • +4

Best way for you to upgrade would be to get 2 more sticks identical to what you have.

        • Could you try and sell the old RAM and buy 2 new sticks?

        • +3

Thanks for the reply. My prognosis is to just leave it as. I don't think I need 32gb.

Hijacking the top comment… this is Samsung C-die. If you're looking at this for overclocking, it isn't a very good choice. It doesn't scale at all above 1.35V and true CAS latency never goes below 9.2ns, so you're looking at 3200CL15, 3400CL17, 3600CL17 and 3800CL18. tRFC is usually 320-330ns, which is a deal higher than B-die and not great for Ryzen. As I say in all C-die comments I make, DM if you want any help with overclocking it. I have a kit running 3733CL18 right now (not 3800 due to fabric limitations).

      • Hey there, building my first rig. Just wondering if this is a good memory for an AMD build if i'm not planning to overclock just yet. Also would getting 2 of this be the same as 32 gb (2x16gb)? Thanks again :)

        • +2

Yeah it's fast enough. Go for it!

      • Thanks for the good info, I've got this kit in 32gb already, might buy two more sticks.

        • Again will warn about running up against IMC limitations and QVL possibly not allowing all 4 sticks to operate at 3200MT/s. Check for your motherboard, if it isn't on the list you might have to try and get the attention of owners who have all 4 sticks on your respective platform (Ryzen or Intel).

          • @Void: Will look it up, excuse my ignorance as some quick googling didn't explain, what does IMC stand for? I'm running the 3900x on ASRock x570 steel legend. Hopefully there's minimal issues.

            • +1

@Dubious speculation: Integrated Memory Controller. Since you have a 3900X you have 2 chiplets, meaning you have half the chance of winning the lottery and double the chance of losing. Ryzen's is known to be a bit weaker than Intel's, so it can struggle at around 4200MHz which is plenty but accounting for 4 3200MHz DIMMs could cause issues. Maybe we can get someone more experienced's input on the matter.

    • +1

Even intel owners should be doing this. It's still big performance gains for dual channel

      • Agreed. And if you are on an APU (I don't know why you'd be buying such RAM but anyway…) you can get massive gains due to shared bandwidth with the iGPU and CPU.

  • +2

    99% don't need 32gb but i think it is a good deal.

      Chrome doesn't agree.

      • Apparently Chrome is going to agree soon, after an update which will cut down on RAM usage. We'll see how this plays out…

        • Your should ask that from Linus. He used over TB of RAM for Chrome.

  • Would love some assistance all.

    I've got Team TForce 16GB (2 x 8GB 3200Mhz) and I wanted to upgrade to 32GB ram. I'm running an AMD Ryzen 5 3500X.

Would this be a good way to upgrade to 32GB since it's the same 3200Mhz as my current RAM? I know dual channel is ideal but will this do the job?

    • It'll do the job mate

      • I've noticed when I turn on my PC and start a game it will stutter a bit for a few min and then gets better. Would a ram upgrade possibly fix that?

        • 16GB should be plenty for any game. Is it a specific game or all games?

          • @Callum1080: Seems to be mainly need for speed heat but when I first started playing in ran smooth so I dunno if it's lack of ram but then I got a program that kills a bunch of background processes and when I did that the game ran smoother.

            • @cosmokram3r: It sounds like when you start your PC, there is a program or bunch of programs that are hogging your CPU.

Open up your task manager and then go to your "startup" tab and see if you can disable anything that has a "high" startup impact.

        • no, ram will not fix stuttering as 16gb is overkill for any game. Games use max 8-10gb

      • I don't think this is a good idea. Dual channel is not just ideal, it's a game changer. It brings you from 70fps to like 100fps. Upgrading to 32GB is useless if you're just gaming and doing some light multitasking, but if you need it I'd get the same kit but be aware of IMC possibly limiting the frequency.

  • I've got a set of F4-3000C15D-16GRBB
Can these be mixed given the old set is 3000mhz?

    • I might be wrong, but I think they should be run together, but your speed will drop down to 3000mhz as the old one max is that. Check out some forum or look up the compatibility list for your motherboard.

    • I think you can get away with it, you might have to play the new modules timings in BIOS if its not stable. Your module is CAS15, in theory it shouldn't make a difference, but I would personally bring that up to CAS16 to match the new module.

      • Or bring this down to CAS 15. Samsung C-die can do 3200CL15 fairly easily, I did it on my shitty sticks with a shitty motherboard.

  • They don't ship to tas and NT…

  • Any difference between S and D?

    • Correct me if i am wrong, but I think the S stand for Single module, D for dual models

      https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/meaning-of-ram-produ…

      • I think you are right. Do you know if there is any difference in performance between single and dual channel ram?

        • In theory the Dual kit are matched, which might make a difference in overclocking, but running normal timings they should work fine.

  • Is there a 2x8 for this price?

  • Just bought scorptec klevv RAM 2h ago :(

  • There are 4 of these identical sticks running on my AMD build from Techfast.

Two from Techfast and I purchased another 2 from local MSY.

    Woking great so far.

That thumbnail reminds me of a square lounge set, just me???

If I squint it really does look like that.

      • lol. Glad I'm not the only one.

  • Is it worth upgrading my 8x2GB 2400Mhz running on a ryzen 5 2600/b450 with 2 of these?

    • no u already have 16gb unless you're doing content creation or something that requires u need over 16gb as with 16gb rn u are maxing out/almost maxing out

      • +1

Ryzen is sensitive to the speed. @krozzle try to overclock it to at least 3200, you should get some sizeable gains. Zen+ IMC only allows up to around 3466, so it's expected to not be able to go past that.

        • It is possible to overclock a ram from 2400 to 3200? I got 2400Mhz in a bundle deal from PLE and have been looking at 3000+ and wondering if I should upgrade

          • +2

@azngamer: Definitely! I got 2666 to 3733 with lower CL.

  • +2

If you're getting two sticks then the same RAM is available from the Shopping Express website (as opposed to their ebay store) for $190 with free delivery. Save $2! 10c. They sting you with a 1% surcharge = $1.90 but at least you don't need ebayplus?

    • Legend. Purchased from site. Upgrading 4x Vengence 3000mhz 8gb to 2x 16gb. With the intel focussed Vengence i could boot 2 dimms at 2993 no issue, but my system won't boot with 4, i have to drop down to 2666.

  • Ah man. Literally just paid $130 for this stick on the weekend.

Now, do I buy a second? Do I really need 16 GB?

    • Nope, but if it isn't dual channel then you definitely need this stick.

      • Ah boo. Before I bought the one stick I researched and found a break down that states that the traditional dual channel boost was largely irrelevant nowadays unless you're overclocking, and figured I could get one and decide in the future if I wanted another.

Now I'm reading the opposite for Ryzen CPUs. Ahhhh good old PC building. Does my head in.

        • Even on Intel it still gives you a fairly large boost, like 10-20%.

  • Everyone seems to mention AMD only. This may sound dumb but would it still be fine with Intel CPUs?

Btw I always thought Intel was superior in the CPU sector but all I can see everywhere is people talking about AMD Ryzen… is my entire childhood basically just a lie?

    • Fine with Intel too. Intel dominated in your childhood, so it would make sense. Now AMD Ryzen is crushing them with much more power efficient processors (7nm) while Intel has kinda stopped innovating and is now just refreshing their existing 14nm processors with better bins.

Edit: Will mention Intel still has like a 3-5% lead in raw gaming performance due to their architecture not involving multiple CCXs which increase latency.

      • +1

Solid explanation! Thanks a lot, really appreciate it!

  • +1

You did wrong by mentioning that it is your first post, we can see it ;)

  • Will it be alright if I get 4x this stick for 64gb ram? Upgraded to 3900x recently and find out my 32gb ram is not sufficient anymore, need upgraded to 64gb.

    • You can, but you might be unable to get it to 3200MT/s as dual rank is difficult on the IMC and QVL might dictate that it cannot run all 4 at 3200MT/s.

      • Too bad only left 3 in stock =/

    • There'll be similar deals like this in the near future surely

      • Difficult to say.. who knew that a pandemic would send GPU and motherboard prices sky rocketing. I had a PC Part Picker config drawn up 9 months ago and sat on it thinking that prices would drop.

Basically, if the price is good and you want it bad enough then buy it

  • +1

Why are people buying ram when you can download it for free?

    • People are morons… throwing their money for nothing.

  • 3600 speed for$131 on Amazon is worth of $?

    • Probably not. You could OC to there if you needed the performance, but it's like a 2-3% gain.

  • Many deals from Shoppingexpress.com.au have been posted in recent times. Great deals in terms of pricing and value for money. I had placed two orders on 29 June 2020 containing two items, one DDR4 RAM and second item is 480GB SSD. I have unsuccessfully tried to contact Shoppingexpress via their phone number which is unattended. I have sent them emails asking when do they intend to dispatch my order, I have not yet received any response. Is this very normal for ShoppingExpress? In my past experience with them, they are pretty quick at shipping the order, not sure what has changed now.
