Just as the title, not sure for the delivery cost. I tried my postcode in Victoria Balwyn North and it says $0.00.

Mobicity got this for $699 so it is a $65 save. Have not checked elsewhere.

One more thing that cannot find on the description is its storage although as the RRP, it should be the 16gb model.

  • $2 cheaper than DSE (@ $636)

    • +1

And I bet if you go into DSE and haggle with them a bit, they'll give it to you a bit cheaper than $636 as well. I was able to haggle at my DSE when I went to buy a Huawei X5.

  • Shopping Square have the N9, 16GB unlocked for $599.95 (+Shipping) -> http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/product.php?id=277113

    • Wow, it's decently price at $15 for express shipping.

    • Does it get official Nokia Australian Warranty?

    • grey import man, might as well go on ebay

  • not trying to troll.. but what are the benefits of this phone over a similarly priced iphone 4 or android handset?

ie is there an appstore, will it be supported by nokia (updates etc)?

    • +1

I think most people accept that android handsets, and iphones, are streets ahead of the competition right now. Whilst this may (or may not) be classed as a bargain for a Nokia N9, I don't think that many people would suggest that this is a good value mobile phone in relation to the marketplace.

Samsung galaxy S or SII would be better value for $$ I reckon…

    • Hey guys have a look here: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1785096&p…

Bit biased but a great phone :)

    • Nokia has the Nokia Store (formerly the Ovi Store) which predates both the Apple's App store and Google's. I've heard the 8MP camera is quite good. http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_n9-3398.php

EDIT: That said, you will find the useful Australian apps that are on IOS and Android aren't being developed onto Nokia's platform. E.G. Bank apps, Coles, Woolworths.

      • It won't be long before we see those apps & others available to the Symbian^3 & MeeGo platform.

Qt API mapping for iOS, Android and Windows phone developers – bring iPhone/iPad apps to Symbian/N9
If you are familiar with iOS development, this tool assists with porting iPhone or iPad apps to the latest version of the Qt platform delivered in Symbian phones and the Nokia N9 smartphone. Using this tool, you can browse a list of iOS API calls and find the equivalent classes and methods offered by Qt. You can also search for a specific iOS API call and find the equivalent Qt API call, along with example code and links to the API documentation for both platforms.

I like Nokia's map application, with the free downloads of other countries. Turn by turn navigation is nice, too.

I'm not sure if the N9 has the same thing though.

Do Apple and Android have these now? Including free downloads of street etc maps for other countries (or for just a few dollars?)

but what are the benefits of this phone

Too big a question to argue on this forum. Suffice to say it is the best alternative smartphone to the big 2 right now.

    • It is better looking than the others.

Poor Nokia, they will be rememebred as a good phone once upon a time.

    • +1

They will rise again once the Nokia Windows 7 mobile is out on the 27th Oct

      • Unfortunately not. I have the N900 predecessor to the N9 and fantastic phone, but unfortunately Nokia sold out to Microsoft and will wither slowly.

Not much point in buying this phone as it is the last of it's kind which is a really shame.

        • +1

huh? I meant Nokia brand mobiles overall will raise again when they change over to Windows 7.

          Not this N9 :)

Like you said, its the last of its kind and they are not producing any more phones for Meego. Wonder how long the support and updates for the N9 will go on for.

The new Nokia 800 is going to look like the N9.

I really like the look of this new nokia, I would have to road test one instrore first to make sure it's what I want. I have gone from iPhone to android -the best move I have done (I still use iPad and MacBook pro for everything else) going to nokia platform…..Im yet to be convinced, I will take a look at it though. Cheers

    • lol apple fanboys negged you xD (+1)

  • DSE $636
    Telechoice $639
    CrazyJones $800
HN $698 with bonus bluetooth/nfc headset (rrp$99), can negotiate to under $600

Had the 64GB version for a few days now and I'm loving it! Swipe is really addictive, my Galaxy Tab must be really annoyed as I have been double tapping, swiping down a lot on it and it doesn't know what to do.
This phone is not good value, but when consider the money Nokia invested (or wasted) on Meego then it's not that expensive(to me). I would say it's better for some ppl who have coding experience as some extra features can be enabled by modifying the source code, very interesting

    • Does it have the maps app? Turn by turn navigation? Downloadable street maps for other countries? (eg New Zealand, Italy …) :) ?

      • +2

        It sure does

Yes, Australian map and many languages are pre-installed, maps for other countries should be available online. I tested it the other day, waiting time for satellite after enabling GPS is almost nothing. I don't like the voice of the British guy though, sounds too sharp/high, will see if can get the Aussie voice ;)

        • Does it have something to process Microsoft Word and Excel documents / sync with Microsoft Outlook? (contacts, calendar, notes) :)

    hardware: great
    software: no thanks

Thanks for posting, just got mine from DSE, yes they price matched :-)
    Impressions, after 4 hours use:
Pros - Maps work and look brilliant, camera is pretty cool (can focus on any part rather than just centre), alarm setting is quite unique, reception is brilliant (now 4 bars Vs previously only 2), MFE works a treat.
Cons - takes a little while to get used to

Not really into the whole apps, RAM, processor thing - so from a "simple simon" user perspective - i'm loving it.
