3500X-2070S-JUL3500X-2080S-JUL

Hi folks,

Prices have started to fall, as shown by these new deals which are $71 and $119 respectively less than they were in May, with a better case and up spec RAM.

Both offered with either the MAG Forge 100R or Thermaltake Versa H18 case but there are only 25 Versas left so if you want the plainer case, get in fast as the option will go out of stock on the site when they are gone. Plenty of Forge on hand. Other shared specs are 16GB 3200MHz RAM, B350 motherboard from Biostar supporting 3200MHz RAM (B450 minimum required for an m.2 drive), 240GB 2.5" SSD and 750W power supply.

Ryzen 5 3500X | RTX 2070 Super Gaming PC: $1448 after 3500X-2070S-JUL

Ryzen 5 3500X | RTX 2080 Super Gaming PC: $1699 after 3500X-2080S-JUL

If you missed out on any of the many EOFYS deals ($200 off a range of systems, they are all still live under the CLICKFRENZY Coupon Code until July 5.

We're still working as closely as possible to 14 business days from order to dispatch.

Cheers
Luke

For video editing, will Ryzen 5 enough or it's better to use Ryzen 7?

    • +8

Definitely consider the R5-3600 upgrade as the sweet spot.

  • +1

The RTX 2080's are on sale for a little over $1100, seems pretty good to get the rest of a solid system for $600.

    • +2

The rest of the system doesn't really cost much especially if you're using generic parts but yea it's a good deal if you don't want to build one yourself or if you're comparing it to say Austins or PLEs.

Ordered similar specs a couple of weeks ago and my machine shipped in <14 days. So far. So good.

    • This makes me happy to hear! (Ordered mine last week)

    • +4

Wtf, I order a pc at the end of May. And it still hasn’t been shipped. Very unhappy

    • +1

Interestingly I'm still waiting on my order from last month (hit 15 working/business days today actually).

Today they emailed me with the option to pay extra for a different PSU, and when I say extra I don't mean the difference between the two, I mean more than it would cost for the upgrade on a new system on their site right now.

The other option is to wait indefinitely for them to get more of the PSU I ordered.

I wish I had of read your comment before making my order as this whole experience with them has been super disappointing and frustrating.

  • Got 1 with last deal. Glad to get the B450, very nice rig and nice case with cabling etc.
Still getting my head around it all. Oh don't forget you'll need esata cables if you BYO hdd's.

    • +2

Is you are running 3200 speed Ram, check its running at that speed and not 2666 (Bios or HWmon).

      • Nah all good, xmp profile was already on and 3200👍

Just not sure how to get case fan lighting to show in MSI Dragon Mystic lighting app. Picks up motherboards rgb. Galax card has rgb as well but not working either.
Don't need it all, but far from seamless.

When you say 'got one' has yours arrived yet?

I'm still waiting on my order from the sand deal you mentioned.

      • Yes ordered last deal and have been using for a week or so all good.

  • We're still working as closely as possible to 14 business days from order to dispatch.

Wouldn't it be easier to say 3 weeks ???

14 business days vs 21 business days. Techfast would be slaughtered alive for this

      • +2

14 business days, with 5 business day per week, equals just under 3 weeks.

Writing 14 Business days, someone might not read the business, and think "Wow, 2 weeks"

        • +12

Because SOME people don't understand what a business day is, that's TechFast's fault?

          • -3

@cosmokram3r: It’s not their fault but they still have to deal with idiots. Better to reduce the chance of that happening IMO.

            • +2

@lookingforTV: Every business has to deal with idiots. But don't blame a company if you can't read.

              • -3

@cosmokram3r: I am not blaming the company… I am defending them for stating why they would write “14 business days”. Maybe you can’t read?

        • You've clearly never worked in sales. Weekends mean nothing for a Mon - Fri business so timeframes are always discussed in business days.

          • -2

@Hinee: "How long are you going on holidays?" "I am going for 10 Business days"

            • @cameldownunder: How is that even slightly relevant?

              • @Hinee:

timeframes are always discussed in business days

                • @cameldownunder: I was obviously referring to a business.

                  • @Hinee: But you see, there are a lot of people who don't think in business mode when dealing with timeframes. That includes delivery times.

                    • +3

@cameldownunder: This has got to be up there with one of the most pointless debates I've had on OzB, and there have been some doozies. Have you just pulled out of your arse the fact that a large number of people don't know what a business day is? Why should TF not use a standard business practice used across most industries? You've created an unlikely hypothetical situation as the basis of your opinion.

                      • @Hinee: Maybe he had to google what a business day means because he didn't know lol

I ordered a system at the start of the year. After using it for 5 months my only complain is the PSU that it came with. RAM/mobo/SSD are all fine.

750W A1 PSU can no way sustain even a slightest of overclock. Its just not stable. Didn't realise the PSU would be that bad. Definetly recommend anyone getting the system to upgrade to a 80+ gold one for $99. You can't get a 80+ gold PSU outside for that cheap.

    • How do you know it can't sustain an OC? I have the stock 750w and I OC my GPU and it's been okay and I just turned on OC Genie in the BIOS for my CPU.

Can you recommend me a PSU that you speak of for that price?

      • It's the 80+ Gold upgrade option from their website. On previous deals it's usually always the Gigabyte G750H. It's a decent enough PSU.

With regards to overclocking, this psu only has a 6 pin Pci-e connectors. Not even an 8 pin. Techfast had to use a 6pin to 8pin converter.

Every time I try to overclock even a bit let's say 25-50mghz, it just crashes.

        • With my stock 750w I turned on OC genie which bumped it up 600mhz and it seems to load windows and stay on okay. How will I know or be able to test if it's safe to keep on? How do I know if 750w or 650w psu is needed? I have a 2070 super system like on this deal

          • +7

@cosmokram3r: You won't know until it goes kaboom and takes out all the components. The stock allied-power PSU they use is junk. It doesn't even have a proper PCIE connection, they just used a Molex connector and PCIE adaptor. You'll be fine for now as you're covered by the 1 year warranty (well, unless your house gets burnt down) but after the warranty is over you should change the PSU asap, especially if you're overclocking your system.

            • @j0hnd0e: Hmm yeah I think I'll look into getting a new PSU ASAP. I've been having a look at 80+ Gold 750W. I'd rather not have to deal with the kaboom and then waiting months for a replacement PC to arrive.

              • @cosmokram3r: You don't need a gold rated PSU, see the PSU tier list before you purchase. https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psucultists-psu…

Also just a side note, your warranty might (?) be voided if you replace the PSU on your own.

                • @j0hnd0e: Bit confused by what I need from that list but I think I need tier A

                  Case: Leaper Pro RGB M-ATX
                  Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3500X (3.6Ghz 6C/6T)
Motherboard: MSI Pro VDH Max B450M
GPU: Galax RTX 2070 Super 8GB 1-Click OC
                  PSU: Raidmax 750W
                  RAM: Team TForce 16GB (2 x 8GB) 3200MHz
SSD: Crucial 1TB SSD + Samsung 1TB SSD
Sound Card: Creative Sound Blaster X3
                  Case Fans: 2 x 120mm Intake Fans

                  • +1

@cosmokram3r: Yup, tier A/B+/B should be ok for you. Note that raidmax is rated as 'potentially dangerous'.

            • +1

@j0hnd0e: The shitty 2 molex to 8pin adaptor they used on my PC almost caught fire, these things should be illegal.

          • @cosmokram3r: To check what your power requirements are with overclocking, a calculator like this(https://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator) would give you a rough idea. Although power consumption is just one aspect. Another and more important is how long can a psu sustain that load.
As j0hnd0e you won't know until something crashes or burns down.

I am now looking for a replacement psu, but can't find stock for the one I want at a decent price.

        • +3

Are you talking about overclocking the CPU?

Ryzen is a very poor overclocking CPU in general. The 3500 is likely to be poor quality silicon as a budget cpu.

I don't think spending an extra $100 on the PSU would have helped

AMD has marketed the boost clock on Zen 2 at clocks so high many chips cannot reach them. This was a bit of a controversy when discovered but it has now been 'fixed' with higher stock voltages. https://youtu.be/DgSoZAdk_E8

Reviewers often receive 'golden sample' CPUs unless they purchase retail

People in overclocking forums purchase multiple CPUs, test them, and return the dud ones.

    • +2

Please don't try to overclock if you got the Generic PSU. Invest in a good quality PSU if you plan to overclock.

      • For CPU or GPU or both?

      • RAM is an exception. I used the TT Litepower (eventuall replaced with EVGA Supernova G2) and OC'd the RAM very nicely, and I even got a lil CPU and GPU OC in there. Shame TF don't ship at least the Litepower anymore.

Interestingly I'm still waiting on my order from last month with a 'stock' 750W PSU.

Today they emailed me with the option to pay extra for a different PSU, and when I say extra I don't mean the difference between the two, I mean more than it would cost for the upgrade on a new system on their site right now.

      • +1

I feel ya. They have also increased the upgrade price to $139 instead of $99 now.

They have been good with these kind of things before. If something goes out of stock, they sometimes upgrade without charging or give you a reasonable upgrade price. Maybe their business model has changed now.

  • +3

Which manufacturer is the GPU? If this is a MSI one, the GPU itself costs around $1000+

    • +1, I know manufacturers differ for each person with techfast but would like to know the pool of companies we're working with

      • +1

        I'm assuming the Galax brand

  • Can you give an indication on what brand/model of motherboards you may be using if I upgrade to a X570 (non wifi)?

    • MSI x570 a-pro

    • Smokey is correct

      • +1

        Awesome!
Can you confirm the 1TB m.2 NVME SSD upgrade? is it possible to get a gen4 m.2? (if so, what make/model)
If we can arrange that, I can pull the trigger on an order.

        • The brand/model of the NVME may vary. We've traditionally used Crucial and Lexar drives. They're not gen4.

  • This is more like the Techfast that I know and love.

    • They have regressed to Allied power supplies again from Thermaltake Litepower. Not sure I love it.

      • Still waiting on my order from last month, they emailed me today with the option to pay extra for a different PSU or wait indefinitely for the PSU I ordered.

        • Ouch yeah the demand is real, but they shouldn't make you pay extra but rather offer a free alternative.

  • The MSI MAG Forge 100R ATX Case says 'out of stock' on all of your builds.
Any idea when you will have it back in stock?

    • It's a backend setting, now revised
      Got for it.

      • +1

Thanks Luke…I really like that case. Ended up ordering an R7 bundle. Look forward to receiving it in a few weeks time. Thanks again. Rob

  • Hi @luketechfast

What brand motherboard will be used if i pick the b450m option?

To other members - is it worth upgrading from biostar b350m to b450 for futureproofing and stability?

    • The regular B450 is likely from Biostar, the B450MH. Others have been used previously but this is the main board for now

      • Oh that is ugly. You gotta start using a new model lol. I'd happily take a crappy A320 over that!

  • +2

Hi, I ordered a pc from you on the 31st of May. Still hasn’t been built and my email from last week hasn’t been responded to. I’ve seen in the comments of other deals that people are having there’s delivered in less than 14 days. What going on!? I would like my order to be upgraded to this

    • +3

Five minutes after I posted this comment my ignored email is finally responded to at 6pm. Weird time to check emails if you ask me

  • +9

    Hi Luke,

I'm sorry to message you like this but I'm really disappointed with my experience so far.

I purchased a PC approximately three weeks from you guys (the 2080 super plus 3500X posted in early June).

Since then I have seen you post similar specs with significant price drops, which is understandable and always a part of bargain hunting.

However today I recieved a message from the warehouse as we approach the promise fulfillment date (14 working days) asking me to pay an extra $60 for a lower watt PSU (650W instead of 750W) or an extra $149 for the gold 750W, even though it's only $139 to upgrade to this PSU in your current builds.

Finally my last option was to wait INDEFINITELY until the warehouse recieved the PSU that was bundled with my build.

I can totally understand not being able to pass on discounts due to price drops for customers that have already placed their order, but right now it feels like I'm being punished for having placed my order last month.

    My order number is TF87272631

Overall just really frustrated with the whole situation. I'm not the most computer literate so I thought going through you guys would make things easier but it just seems to have made it harder!

This seems really suspect for alot of people. I have noticed some of the reg commentors on techfast posts only post on techfast posts. weird.
I hope this gets sorted for you, I have been recommending some of their deals to my friends who are currently looking but this will stop me.

    • +3

This has been resolved. All affected customers are receiving the bronze psu free of charge.

  • Want to recommend one of these systems but it won't catch fire (from comment earlier) or take months to arrive will it? Also what is an average delivery charge (e.g. Melbourne)? Thanks.

    • +1

Reading through some of the comments here, it seems like one month is minimum waiting time.
