  • Which manufacturer GPU do these typically come with Luke?

    • Both 2070 Super and 2080 Supers are generally from Galax.

      • Are the generally the
        - 20XX super (one fan)
        - 20XX super EX (1 Click OC) (two fan)
        - 20XX super EX Gamer (1 Click OC) (three fan)

        • It can vary but is never the one fan/blower model.

  • B460 motherboard?

    • +2

      Yes, it is? :P

Do you mean brand? Likely Giga or MSI.

  • Will I get AU warranty for every parts of the computer ? what about after one year warranty?

    • +1

Any components that have manufacturer's warranty longer than the assembled system warranty still apply, yes. If the manufacturer requires the warranty to be processed through the system assembler, as is often the case, we can assist.

  • Any other brands apart from Galax ?

    • Not at this stage on 2070 Super. There is an MSI Ventus upgrade for the 2080 Super.

      • +1

        MSI Ventus upgrade

If MSI Ventus is an upgrade it doesn't make me very confident that this Galax cooler is any good, is it really an upgrade or just pay more for a brand name? I never thought Galax to be that bad.

        • +1

I'm after a different brand for the resell value

        • +1

IMO the Galax is a very good card at the price point. The MSI is purely offered at the cost difference to us from the suppliers, for people who prefer the brand.

          • @luketechfast: Yeah that's what I was thinking, because Galax coolers are quite decent, they're not great or anything but they are probably around Gigabyte Windforce level.

            • @Void: Galax is actually a decent graphics card brand.

It's Techfast's Power Supply and Motherboard selection that you should be wary of. Avoid anything Biostar for your motherboard and also any generic Power Supply Unit.

@emoticon: I have a B45M2, it does any overclocking I would want it to do. The new ones they are using are quite bad with the lack of M.2 slots. I ended up replacing the TT Litepower mine came with, just peace of mind and I needed a spare power supply for a basic rig anyway.

                • @Void: Yeah, there was a forum post on Ozbargain where the PSU on a Techfast build blew up. Good thing you know how to connect the cables, it's a hassle but better in the long run and for that peace of mind.

                  • -1

@emoticon: Took me about 30 minutes all up, cable management is still a party in the back but no one can see it so it's no big deal.

              • @emoticon: This has a generic PSU paired with a 2080S. Makes no sense. If I had a 2080S, I’d get a decent Gold rated at the very least. Wouldn’t ever consider a no name PSU for those parts.

              • @emoticon: Swapped out noisy psu (had Corsair AX860 laying around) on a similar build now it's bloody awesome! Good cable management and packaging was first class!

        • I have the Galax 2080 super (2 fan variant) and its fairly quiet, was expecting helicopter loud but barely a whoosh when its under load Still havent got my case intake cooling fully sorted yet so that will help a little more once installed.

@BargainKen: Lucky. The MSI MECH OC I got would easily hit 3500rpm in games where it's at 95% utilization and junction was at around 103c (72c core temp, massive delta there). I sent my card to TF support who deemed it "warranty void" because of a scratch on the plastic covering when I installed my Wi-Fi card which can't affect the thermal situtation, then I sent it to MSI who sent me a replacement which was from the exact same batch with the exact same issue. I gave up and just repasted it myself and removed the heat trapping backplate and it's at a cool 80c (65c core temp) with 2000rpm fan speed. The support from both MSI and Techfast is pretty bad. They were pretty quick with reaching me, but they'll do anything possible to get out of replacing something.

            • @Void: Yea didnt hear good things about the MSI ventus card. Was the HSF misaligned from factory or just bad cooler design? Might explain why peoples fans are ramping up to max..

              • @BargainKen: Just bad cooler design, the plastic backplate was doing more harm than good, all of the thermal pads were off in different directions and the paste job probably wasn't particularly good either. Fans naturally ramp up to max as soon as it hits 100c junction.

            • @Void: Thanks for that - good to know that TechFast is terrible with support and refusing warranty over a scratched plastic cover.
I will spend my $2,500 on a new PC elsewhere.

Is this the best processor and video card combo possible? Like within a reasonable price range (I don’t want the best processor and video card ever if it ends up being a $10k rig).

    • -2

A 10600K and 2080 Super would be the best combo value wise, but you'd probably be better off with a Ryzen 7 3700X and 2080 Super if you aren't set on those 5 extra frames. Remember the benchmarks are at 1080p and you'd have to be ridiculous to run a 2080 Super at such low res.

  • +2

What’s the rating on the stock 750W PSU and is it “safe” to use for the 2080S?

    • We wouldn't use it if it wasn't appropriate for the pairing. We have use many hundreds of them with RTX cards and found them to be equivalent in performance to a Thermaltake Litepower.

  • I want to use Afterpay

    • +3

Afterpay is only available on purchases below $1000 as far as I know, so even if techfast did offer it, it wouldn’t be useful for much of their range.

  • I sent an email inquiry weeks ago and still haven't got a response, what's the go?

    • We can't have received it is what I'm thinking. Can you resend to [email protected]?

      • Your website says ' Please direct all enquiries via email to [email protected] and the team will reply as soon as they are able.' ?

        • Sent it to sales anyway, still no reply, terrible mate.

  • Any idea what model Z490 motherboards are available? Just trying to see if it is worth the upgrade.

    • Giga and MSI are being used for these in various models.

      • Just wondering if they are all mATX or are they likely going to be ATX boards considering the case is an ATX case?

        • Z490 will be MATX. Z390 (9th gen systems) are ATX due to Z390 MATX boards being unavailable.

  • @luketechfast: How many RAM slots does the B460 motherboard used have ? And what are the dispatch times like ? I have already ordered this PC. Thanks.

    • +1

It will be a 2-DIMM board. We're estimating 14 business days for all systems at the moment. Thanks for your order!

      • Hi Luke,

I am unable to reach support via email. I would like to modify my order TF94762631 to have a board with 4 DIMMs. Can you please make the change and send me the invoice for the difference. Please use the email address provided in the order. I will send an email to [email protected] and cc [email protected] on the same email.

      • Hi Luke,

I would like to get the Intel H470 MATX Motherboard $49.00, which seems to have 4 DIMMs.

        • Got your email and will reply, thanks.

          • @luketechfast: Hi Luke,

            When can I expect a response ?

            • @croccer: Is there any estimate on when this order will get shipped ? I am only asking this as the order has gone past 14 days. Thanks

          • @luketechfast: Thanks Luke. I have paid the invoice.

  • What models do you use for

    240GB m.2 NVME SSD

    1TB m.2 NVME SSD?

    • It varies according to supplier availability. We generally use Lexar, Crucial and Gigabyte drives but brands and models can and do vary.
