Might have been a non-issue if they didn't charge the full amount for a pre-order. Sounds messy.
Each to their own, I am not in a hurry because I already have 2070 Super which I bought only a few months ago.
Knowing how much better 3080 will be, and a good price for a product which I know will be in high demand, happy to lock it in and wait a few months.
At worst, maybe I will find one at a good price and buy one, and cancel this pre-order.

I wonder if we can get a poll to work out what cards everyone bought, maybe there's 4000 orders of the EVGA XC3 Black or the FTW3 Ultra? There's a chance if you ordered one of the random ones in between that there may not have been that many orders for them.
The thing is it's also likely that they will have a product that is most likely to be in high demand to have a higher stock level.
I am not too fussed about different models TBH, and just bought the cheapest EVGA model (XC3 Black).
Knowing XC3 standard model is only $30 more than the Black (no backplate), I guess the XC3 standard model might be a bit higher in demand.
The "Ultra" is yet again only $30 more, so it could just as easily be in highest demand.
Hence why I want a poll. :P

I would wait for a price drop from other brands or buy the ZOTAC which all look better then the P! looking red on the gigabyte cards.

I can't believe the PS5 and RTX 3080 preorders opened up the same day, PS5 in the morning and 3080 at night. It was a stressful past 24 hours didn't sleep much, didn't eat much, didn't even shower my complete focus was getting this items and I was not going to take no for an answer, I managed to preorder both successfully.

EVGA is the best of the lot by a long shot.
I probably had the best customer service from these guys + Mwave. I had a 980Ti that cooked itself from regular use and had 3 months left of warranty and they decided to full refund me so I bought their 1080Ti FTW3 for extra $200 and still going strong.
with 4500 pre orders, they will only get so much stock per week, how long will everyone be waiting? 2021?
I think the vast majority will get it before the end of October (people who managed to order around midnight), but if you've preordered later on today you'd be looking at those times

Launch stock is always pretty sparse so I'm not too surprised.
Everyone's posting their order numbers, and you can tell by the litteral minutes apart they claim checkout, and the order numbers, there's at least 4k difference between them only in like an hour span.
The email PLE sends out afterwards also tells you the exact place in line you are.

You will have an option to cancel at anytime if you have ordered one and paid for it.

No. You'll be waiting far too long.
I wouldn't recommend it, but if you do, and outlast the thousands who can't wait and cancel and eat the $1400 price at other retailers, you could luck out, but its at least a month wait or two minimum.

Wait, queue "from now" is 6 weeks? Meaning those of us who ordered last night/early AM might only need to wait a few weeks at most in theory? I can live with that.
Take what you will from this, but when the GF1080's launched in 2016, i was on backorder on the 2nd wave of AIB cards from PLE and that was a 3 1/2 week delay before it was shipped and that was with a '2 week eta*' listing :)
Fair enough. Judging from some of the earlier comments and speculation about order numbers I was dreading like, months maybe. Anything before 2021 I can probably live with :P
