      • still there :)

        • Even when you check out?

          • @vash5: Yup. Just haven't put in payment details to really go end to end.

          • @vash5: Have just completed the pre order. Completed with freebie ie the Bundle :) order # is 87xxxx though -_-

            • @starburstyellow: Everyone is 87.. its the two that happen after that ppl are posting. im 22

              • @vash5: 8738xx. But least I got the bundle? :(

                • @starburstyellow: I hope so. If you try and order it again, does it show the same bundle option?

                  • @vash5: No, bundle no longer appears once adding to cart now. I got lucky I guess? Now the wait…

  • I ordered at 11:11pm - S0- 8698X - with the ZOTAC - got the email that I missed out. Didn't really understand as I picked the unpopular card earlier than anyone else I've seen. Yet to see someone with a launch card from PLE. I think they had about 10.

  • Why is the gigabyte card $1469 compared to the EVGA and Zotec cards? Just because it is running at a little higher speed or the actual quality is better?

I always buy gigabyte cards and never used these other brands.

    • They allow three pci connectors that allow it to draw more power under load compared to two.

      • +2

The gigabyte has 2 8pin power connections.

The evga ftw3 ultra has 3 8pin power connections.

        • +3

          And it's $1229.

The answer is price gouging, EVGA is not participating in anti-competitive practices.

I ordered a 2080 Ti 30 minutes ago , just got a shipped notice with tracking number. Now that is what you call service.

    • Um

    • +10

Yeah they wanted to get it out to you before you realised what a mistake you had made.

      • +7

I can imagine the PLE staff running across the warehouse to grab it and slap into a parcel before the customer realised their mistake.

        • +4

GO GO GO GET IT OUT THE DOOOOOOOR NOWWWWW

          • +1

            @lawyerz: Get to the choppaaaa!!!

            • @shaun-o: No mistake , Got sick of trying to secure a 3080 , then after seeing the real numbers for 1080p use which I I am happy to stick with for me it was the right choice.Bonus is I get to use it now and not in some undetermined future date.Yes that did cross my mind "get this out the door before he changes his mind"! Either way it worked in my favor.

              • +1

@RichardZed: A GTX 1070 if fine for 1080 gaming, unless you want Ray Tracing. I would recommend a 2070 Super instead of a 3080 if you don't have a 4k screen.

  • So did anyone here win the 3080 FE raffle?

    • +14

Mwave won by getting all of our emails.

      • +1

They already had them for pre-order notices lol, they've got your address and mobile numbers now. :P (Luckily I've ordered with them before, so they already had those.)

      • +1

        True True

    • Would be nice to know .

    • +3

Based one what ive been seeing in the last 24 hours, they probably had 5, and the raffle winners will be email accounts generated for bots :P

    • It hasn't been drawn yet.

  • Update: Via Mwave Twitter

    emails are progressively going out.

Daily controversial comment: 1080Ti had more VRAM for the same price 3.5 years ago

    • +3

Counter: this card blows it away and the price hasn't increased since 3.5 years ago.

  • Can somebody recommend me a card? I have no idea. I'm currently using a GTX1080.

    • +4

We can but you won't be getting any stock like the rest of us.

Plenty of time for you to do your homework.

      • +1

I was under the impression we pre-order now at that price and they'll be in around October - November time, is that not the case? I've been reading through the comments but there are so many variations of the same card. I don't want to sound lazy, just a little confused and out of my depth but we all love a good deal :)

        • +2

Supply is nonexistent compared to demand, and the preorders from now will probably take until next year to finish. Don't expect to see a card until then. If you can preorder at this price and are willing to wait 3-5 months, you should do it as the 3080 is going for $1500+ from other stores.

        • That's about right, what specs (resolution/fps) monitor are you using and how much space do you have in your case? Right now it looks like Zotac card might be a wise purchase. I say this because 80% of people here bought the EVGA cards so if they're shipping on the same quantities then you might get a Zotac much quicker.

        • +1

That's the thing, your guess is as good as anyone elses because we have little info about stock availability and ETA's. Personally I think it will be months not weeks before a steady stream host the market. Just a gut feeling.

Nahh I don't think your lazy, based on stock ETA looks like you have loads of time to research it. If your not sure start with Gamers Nexus on YT and go from there. They are very very detail oriented channel with in-depth reviews.

It's all new grounds at the moment with details coming out daily on the 30 series. So your not left behind at this stage.

At this point FE 3080 is what most reviews are based on. More will come out, just a matter of time before independent reviewers get their hands on stock.

I ended up ordering the eVGA GeForce RTX3080 XC3 Ultra Gaming 10GB GDDR6X because it has the 2x8 pin.

I wanted the eVGA GeForce RTX3080 FTW3 Ultra 10GB GDDR6X but I do not have 3x8pin spare to use :(

    • I ordered the FTW3 as I read somewhere you can just use 2 of the 8pins and only use a 3rd if you need it, anyone know if thats true or will it definitely require 3x 8 pins?

My psu has 3 of them but I know one is playing up as ive already had to swap it out on my video card, if it needs the full 3x ill prob need to order a new psu.. but ill probably have a couple of months to sort it first anyway :)

      • +1

I really wouldn’t leave one of those connections without power. The custom PCB is designed around having that power to draw from. Saying that, there is no way the card will draw more than 400w so you may get away with an 8 pin piggyback connection cable. That way you are still technically only using 2 cables.

      • Bit late, but you can daisy chain the second and third 8pins with 1 cable, as long as the first 8pin is on its own cable. So 2 is fine, no need to get a new PSU unless you want to.

  • +2

According to QUT business professor Gary Mortimer, the allocation exhaustion could be a deliberate tactic.

“Limited initial allocation creates FOMO (fear of missing out) and demand,” he told news.com.au.

“It also enables the manufacturer to estimate sales projections, hence reducing overproduction of consoles that sit in storerooms and avoiding obsolescence.”

Note this is about PS5, but same principle for the new RTX.

    • Seems to be the early adopter tax :/

    • +3

It doesn't really make sense to limit stock before AMD plays their card though

  • Take heart these will be restocked eventually :)

  • +2

Apparently, according to GamerNexus, one of the anonymous NVIDIA partner statements given to him about this launch was "It was definitely not a paper launch. It was a reasonable amount, but it just all sold out. Inventory was similar to previous launches".

The demand was just so unprecedented that it basically broke everything.

    • +2

to paraphrase Jensen during the launch release, he said: "for all the 10xx owners, now is the time for you guys to upgrade"

With the much more value added performance jump from the 2080Ti to the 3080( compared to 1080ti to 2080), how was it not even remotely predictable that demand this time around would be at the same level as what they saw for the 20xx ??

They probably have guys from their marketing and finance teams churning out numbers on how to harness this in the most historically perfect way possible, and they did; from the last minute 3080 review release, to the limited production, to the AIB embargos.

This is gaming the demand and is unethical from a consumer's perspective. But who cares? at least the shareholders are happy.

As long as AMD doesn't derail their happy train, they get another month of pure bliss

  • +2

I don't know why people are going so crazy for these. Yes it's a performance boost but there's literally a announcement from amd around the corner.

Given the huge performance of the Xbox and ps5 and they are cut down apu's and the price point it is probably going to be signficiant.

If NVIDIA had it in the bag there is zero chance they would be pricing them like this.

Suppose they might feel like 2080 ti buyers a month ago.

  • +1

These guys must have a back log of like 5000 cards to fulfill

    • +1

Surprised PLE are still accepting orders. How much stock can 1 PC store realistically receive from evga when global demand is so insane at the moment.

      • ETAs going to be long

  • +1

Is anyone else considering cancelling their orders due to leaks of 20gb 3080 models to supposedly release around late october? I plan to play exclusively in 4k, and know that 10GB of vram might not be enough 2 years down the track, so 20gb makes a lot more sense, and plus it will release around the time we get these orders anyway.

    • I'm reading rumours that the 20gb model will be the older GDDR6 as opposed to the GDDR6X on the just released cards.

    • I was tossing this up but considering

      • It's not announced yet
      • Current games only require about 6GB memory at 4k
      • It is likely most games will be limited by console memory availability anyway
      • We don't know about the type of memory (see below). If it's fast memory it's likely to cost a fortune, and if it's slow memory I'd rather have the bandwidth I think.
      • Worst case you can just turn textures down a little and probably not even notice in motion/gameplay

I decided to stick with the 3080 :). Would have loved if it was 12-16GB but can't win them all.

    • I don't think I will ever need 20gb in by GPU for many years.

Hopefully the announcement will calm down the demand for the initial cards, so those in the queue can get the cards quicker :)

    • titanfall 2 uses 8GB VRAM for texture streaming. That is crazy. I imagine future games would use technology like this as well.

  • Order number 874580, pray for me :(. Also was only charged 1.85 and not full amount despite authorising option 1. Perhaps delay for system to charge me full amount?

    • +1

Well you will get it one day.

I think if you pay by credit card you are only charged a small amount to make sure your have the fund.

For Paypal, the full amount will be charged.

      • interesting, thanks for getting back to me. Hopefully there will be more stock for everyone in the next 4-8 weeks and big retailers will start dropping their prices back to rrp

    • 8738xx.. got charged straight away :(

  • +1

So all preorders charged up front? That's aalot of cash in the bank for more than 2 months for them. Keep the pre-orders open for sure! Free cash interest then refunds if they can't supply.

    • You don't have to pay up front

      • +2

They charged me upfront. There was no option to only pay a deposit for me

        • There was an option to pay as a deposit during checkout. I have not paid yet but PLE have confirmed I still retain my line in the queue.

  • FYI im order 8702XX for the 3080 FTW3 Ultra and PLE have confirmed that you do not have to pay the amount as of yet and your position in the queue will still remain safe.

    • -2

Will they have an ETA by end of this week?

  • +3

I've asked if I can change from full paypal payment to a deposit only. This is their response which seems reasonable.

"Currently we’re taking full payment for orders to secure your place in line however if the wait is going to be considerable then we can look at taking a deposit.

We are aiming to have ETAs by close of business Wednesday so we suggest holding out until then."

    • Holding off the information until just before the new 3090s come in.. lol

    • yeah i've preordered through them, 9am the following morning after launch… it will be interesting what the ETA will be..

  • -1

    OzRRP ¯_(ツ)_/¯

    • These are lower prices than the supplier's RRP

  • can't wait till people can get their hands on the 30 series cards so the prices of previous can trickle down enough for me to get a 16 series for dirt cheap lol

  • +10

Someone has created a spreadsheet to compare and share tracking/status info.
Looks like a scant few PLE orders have received ETA's already, and it looks like they are within October (some as early as the 5th) which isn't as bad as I was anticipating.

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DC8cqOQoewvPMsa2iSjP…

    • Wow. I thought this guy ordered $739k worth of cards. Looks like established by data from many people.

  • Not even sure if I'll get it but does anyone know if the Deepcool GPU brace would fit in the NR200 case?

  • +2

"Your card does not currently have a confirmed ETA. We're expecting larger deliveries commencing late October, you'll likely receive your card in late October to early November. As we get closer, you will begin to receive an estimated date from PLE."

    EVGA FTW3 ULTRA
    Order: 8703XX

    • doesnt look good as your order is pretty low

      • +1

True, but the part about expecting 'larger' deliveries starting from late October might mean better news for everyone.

From the same email: "Similar to previous launches, the first 4 weeks are the tightest supply and from there it increases very significantly."

Just.. trying to find that silver lining :P

        • got same email, order no 8714XX

  • +2

    Just received this email.
    Order 8721XX
    XC3 ULTRA

    Hi,

If we haven't mentioned, thanks again for pre-ordering your RTX3080 with PLE Computers!

As everyone is aware, global demand for the RTX30 series is significantly above Nvidia, the card manufacturers and the resellers expectations.

Our procurement team has been in close and constant discussion with both Nvidia and the card manufacturers in relation to fulfilling all the orders for RTX30 Series graphics cards.

Important information for all RTX30 Series customers:
We have already supplied our customers with more than double the number of RTX20 series cards at the same number of days since launch.
All our RTX30 graphics card supply partners ship weekly shipments to PLE in both Victoria and Western Australia. We find out mid-week what we will receive the following week.
Until you receive your order, we will email an update similar to this one every Thursday with the latest information.
Due to the extreme demand for RTX30, even the manufacturers have limited ability forecast beyond 1 week.
Similar to previous launches, the first 4 weeks are the tightest supply and from there it increases very significantly.
There is no "stock" of these cards sitting at manufacturer's distribution warehouses, when you receive your card it was likely manufactured within the prior 7 - 14 days.
That means, any hiccups in supply (the upcoming Chinese Golden Week, freight interruptions due to weather, covid, customs delays etc) typically have an immediate impact.
By providing you with a weekly update, any of these types of events can be communicated to everyone efficiently.
All manufacturers have received the order quantities PLE received for their respective cards and they have all offered a committment to PLE to fulfill as quickly as possible.
If you see our retail prices changing, they are only changing due to changes in our costs. Your order is locked in at the price you ordered at.
You may cancel at any time. Click here, log in to your MyPLE account and hit Cancel order.
If you wish to change card, you will be at the back of the queue for that particular card at the time of change. It wouldn't be fair to put you in front of someone else.

Please see the following information specific to your order:

Your card does not currently have a confirmed ETA. We're expecting larger deliveries commencing late October, you'll likely receive your card in early to mid November. As we get closer, you will begin to receive an estimated date from PLE.

If you wish to cancel, you may do so at any time by clicking here. You don't have to feel locked in! Once you cancel, it cannot be undone - you will have to join the queue again.

Our sales team do not have any additional information about your ETA. Please be patient, we've committed to weekly updates to keep everyone in the loop :)

    Thanks

    PLE Computers

    • Just got the same email, my broad ETA for XC3 Ultra was late October to early November. 8710XX

    • Same message, FTW3 ultra order 8730xx

  • Same email. XC3 Ultra #8700XX. No ETA.

  • 8744XX - FTW3 Ultra - Late October to early November. :(

    • I'm roughly 4000 orders before you and I'm the same so don't be too sad :)

  • 8723xx - ftw ultra late Oct early Nov

    • same card, 8718xx, i don't have an ETA anymore, used to say late oct, then november… grumble grumble

At least all the reviews that have come out since all seem to indicate we are getting "the best card".. And I guess we have to wait so long because apart from Australia tax, we not getting it in the tailpipe…

  • +1

    878XXX lol. Maybe 2022

  • Same email for 8761XX - seems like everyone got the same message and late Oct / early Nov ETA for everyone regardless order number

    • +1

I ordered my one Tuesday this week, so my email says early November to mid November.

  • i wrote in this thread earlier with a psa about zotac fan issues that have spanned 6 years/generations
here is another psa regarding the trinity card from zotac - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6bUUEEe-X8
seems they have cheaped out on the components (further confirmed by buildzoid pcb breakdown) & the card "CAN" result in issues
crashing to desktop etc, reported on reddit also.

    • According to some other sources it looks like Zotac (and other companies) might be changing its cards (designs) due to the problem mentioned in the video.

      https://videocardz.com/newz/manufacturers-respond-to-geforce…

"Igor’sLAB reports: PC Partner, Zotac’s mother company, seems to have recognized this and is obviously changing its cards."

      https://www.reddit.com/r/hardware/comments/izmi1k/ampere_pos…

"According to reports, Zotac is making an update to their designs."

I am not sure when they started making the design changes since some people have received the cards already, but I guess it wouldn't be worth stressing out and cancelling orders just yet. Things may change before people even receive their cards.

      • I was following this issue too.

Kinda glad I didn't order Zotac/not getting the first wave of cards (ordered EVGA).

Hopefully EVGA cards don't experience the issue as they have claimed.

    • EVGA responded to the GeForce RTX 3080 POSCAPs:

      https://forums.evga.com/m/tm.aspx?m=3095238&p=1

  • Hardware Unboxed says that the 3080 crashing issues are beyond just the caps used, with FE and TUF models also experiencing problems.

    https://twitter.com/HardwareUnboxed/status/13096598344682987…

    • Surprised the FE and TUF are also experiencing issues. I thought since they had the right amount of MLCC it should be ok. Hoping the 3090 isnt affected, just installed mine lastnight.
