apart from Oxygen and 8g ram, don't feel it's better than LG V50.

    • +6

You are comparing a last gen flagship against this gen midrange. Maybe compare them based on their launch MSRP instead.

    • +4

Can i get a lg v50 for $600 + delivery? If so, please share.

    • +1

Camera as well. LG one is sht

  • Gray Onyx variant only

  • +4

$609.28 from Amazon UK if you prefer dealing with Amazon.

    • That’s the UK variant, not sure what the difference is though

      • You get a UK plug to charge your phone.

    • Still waiting on my shipment from Sept 4 from Amazon

      • Mine was marked as lost today. Received a refund. Ordered 1 / 9 / 2020.

  • This or the new Poco X3?

    • i would personally avoid x3 as they have ads but apparently thenew miui gives u a choice to toggle off ads. but if they have the ability to prompt ads that often im not sure how much data they are collecting. so personally i would get nord

      • +1

yeah agreed. don't buy Xiaomi stuff for the OS only the hardware. Pity google is cracking down so much with safetynet

      • +5

All Xiaomi phones have ads and can be turned off not just X3. This is nothing new. If you're concerned about ads simply use xiaomi.eu or custom roms. Anyway they're both different price point but if one is after AMOLED then probably Nord, otherwise X3 is the best bang for buck phone in the market right now with all you need.

        • i didnt know that because i have the 9t and it didnt come with ads or maybe its just toggled off by default. and theres a tiny chance of bricking your phone if u flash a custom rom onto your phone. id personally not take that chance unless the changes are drastic even if the possibility id only 1% but for a $300 phone i guess its worth to flash the rom.

          • @fatbunn: You can always revert back to stock rom, if you ever get bricked, as long as Fastboot works.

      • +1

MIUI had option to turn off ads for last few years. at least they stay off unlike Samsung lately.

        • +1

          Samsung has ads?

          • -1

@Modesty: First I've heard of it.

            • +1

@JerryB: Open the default weather app, you'll see some.

            • @JerryB: Google it. Plenty of articles lately on Android Police about it.

      • WTF, imagine advertisements on your phone. Unfortunately, a really shitty practice that seems to be becoming more common. It's the reason why I don't play on my Xbox much and probably won't buy a series X if it also has ads on the dash.

    • +1

You'd probably want to compare it to the Poco F2 Pro, they're closer in pricing.

    • +1

just get rid of the MIUI asap by flashing a custom roms. Super easy nowadays. x3 is a way better deal if you can take the efforts.

      • +2

Do you still lose things like Google Pay by doing this on the Xiaomi's? And do they every do VOLTE?

      • I've been thinking the same thing, but I don't think there are any custom ROMs yet.

You'd think there would be soon, but it's still an unknown, and it's unclear about getting past SafetyNet.

If you can, it'll be one of the best bang-for-buck bits of hardware you can grab!

If not, well… have fun with MIUI

    • Poco X3, It is the best bang for the buck right now. I'm still waiting for mine to be shipped from Banggod, got the deal from here as well.

With the ads people have been talking about, you can just toggle it off in the settings.
I mean what data are we talking about that they are collecting? Google and other companies have been collecting our data for ages.

If the data that are collected to give us or show us the ads that are suitable for us, what is the harm?

  • +1

This or the Realmi Superzoom X3 for $50 more?

    • I would recommend Realme X3 Superzoom with better processor, camera and local warranty and 120Hz display, though IPS LCD.

    • No always on display on the realme superzoom. I have one, it's fine, but I find the lack or the AOD really annoying.

  • +2

    6.44 so smallll

    • +10

Relative to your hand size really, 6 inches is too big for some women.

      • -1

Is that what she told you to make you feel better about yourself?

      • +1

The width is probably the more important measurement if using one hand.

      • Who are these women?… Where are they located?!

  • How does this compare to the Pixel4a, anyone used/seen both?

    • +1

Iv'e used the P4a and performance wise, id say the Nord would come out on top and has higher refresh rate
      Camera P4a wins hands down.
Size - well each to their own.
Batter - I got two days out of the P4a, I dont think the Nord can hit that.
There are plenty of YT reviews around comparing both though.

      • +1

Agree with all. I went with the 4a also. Nord is a better performer. Battery life is quite similar from some you tube tests I've seen. The pixel 4a battery has impressed me so far. Not a heavy user or gamer, mostly emails, reddit, webbrowsing, spotify etc. I last charged at 6PM two days ago and it's sitting at 40% with only a 30 minute car ride worth of topping up (while running android auto).

the 4 a feels small in my hand but mainly due to not having a case yet. Screen size is plenty big enough.

        • Thanks SgtBatten and mouski :-)

        • Pixel 4a has better camera for sure

        • Is the 4a grippy enough without a case?

I've had OnePlus phones for a while and I hate how slippery they are which is the only reason I have a case.

          • +1

@Ghos7: it feels a bit slippery to me. my s7 had a pretty grippy case for the last 3+ years so hard to compare apples to apples but I plan on getting a case regardless for my lenses

Reviews of this phone are very bad. Have a look at a few available. I guess Pixel 5 launching on Sep 30th will be a better value.

    • +4

Will probably be $1000 though right?

    • Everywhere I looked including android authority and android police are 8 - 9. Where are the bad reviews you are referring to?

    • I've had the Nord for about a month now, no issues at all. Very quick, smooth and has had 2 OTA updates. I bought it because of the price / specs and out of the all the 10 or so reviews I saw or read were very favourable with the only exception being the 2 low grade cameras on the back.

Not sure what you reviews you saw.

I almost went for the P4a, but the Nord had better specs.

      • Is camera quiet good? Thanks

        • I'm no photographic perfectionist, but the main camera seems to be fine with me. Haven't tried it at low light or night yet, nor have have I used the other cameras. Sorry, can't be much help. Head to whirlpool forums, there's a thread for this phone there.

  • +1

Apparently these phones have a factory reset issue.

Be mindful if deciding to get this phone.

  • OnePlus 8T is coming out soon, I'm waiting for the price of the 8 Pro to drop so I can pick one up

    • I am in the same boat. Not sure if the 8 pro will drop though as the 8t is an upgrade on the 8 so I would expect the 8 to drop not 8pro

      • I think I saw rumours that there'll be an 8T Pro with the SD 865+ as well

        • Got official email from OnePlus today about the launch of the 8t on the 14th Oct but no mention of the 8t pro. I would think they would mention it considering its their flagship.

  • Still haven't received mine from Amazon UK. Ordered on 01/09/2020

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/561820

    • That's crap. I bought mine from Clove UK and was delivered in 5 days. Can you cancel ?

      • It's already shipped so I don't think I can cancel now.

    • I would have thought that ordering from Amazon will get it delivered faster. I got mine from the Oneplus store on AliExpress (ordered on 24/08 and got it on 16/09).

      • Yeah that's what I thought too. Amazon Prime doesn't mean much here.

      • Was that with AliExpress Standard Shipping?

        • +1

Yes. Maybe I just got lucky.

Total shipping time was 18 days.

  • Was hoping the Nord would be a bump up from the OnePlus 6. Seems that's not the case in the CPU/GPU department.

    • +1

I regret selling my OnePlus 6 and getting an S10e. So now I'm getting a Nord and selling my S10e.

      • +2

Once you go Oxygen OS you find everything else is clunky and ugly.

        • My 6T feels as fresh as the day I got it almost 2yrs ago

          • @hen dawg: For me it's just the degraded battery life. According to the OnePlus Diagnostic app my battery state is at serious loss (73%).

            • @Clear: Have you been using the fast charger that comes with it or 3rd party slower chargers?

              • @bonezAU: Fast charger originally but stopped early this year as it degrades the battery faster.

            • @Clear: My one is at 80%

            • @Clear: How long have you had it for? I've had my pixel for just over a year and it's at 75%

            • @Clear: Ran that app and scored 83%. Been using the fast charger virtually all the time since I got it 23 months ago. I am often careful not to go to 100% though

          • @hen dawg: I'm using one except battery health is at 80%

            With GCam it's so good

            • @neonlight: Yea, without GCam mods I would be a different story

  • samsung event on the 23rd…probably wait to see what they do

    • They already launched flagship devices for this year, not sure what they doing at this event.

  • -1

Doesn't support microsd memory card, it is a pass for me

  • How does this phone compared to the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom or Oppo Reno 5G?

  • -1

This or Samsung s20+ ultra 5g? Which one is better ?

    • The price between them is more than double. This for value, that for specs.

  • At least it is cheaper than Pixel 5 which has 765G, too

    • +1

That will be great when they start using that band, which unfortunately probably won't be for at least another 18 - 24 months. But great to see that they are future proofing.

      • Underrated comment

  • -2

Does this come with cheap VPN?

  • I was deciding between this and the 7t the other day, with the price difference at the time being $50 I went with the 7t. Kinda wish I had of waited for this deal.

  • +1

Bought this off amazon a couple of weeks ago and pretty happy with it so far.

Pros: over 4000mAh battery will always last all day and warp charger is hella fast. 90hz refresh rate is great is your previous phone didn't have it. Oxygen OS is as clean as they say it is.

Cons: No headphone jack, wireless charging, sd card slot or IP rating. Processor is not flagship but you won't notice unless your doing some hardcore gAmInG. This is minor but the power button is super clicky so I accidentally turn my screen off sometimes when holding it sideways.

Overall great midrange phone which will go well some xiaomi airdots lol.
