Melb here, how did the store proposed to do the 100 points of ID?

      •

Read out over the phone. I had to let the guy know my passport and Medicare.

        •

oh wow thanks, still waiting on the call to be put through. thanks for the heads up!

  •

I like how they have used celebrity voices on the hold music. That is the Deputy QLD Premier, Steven Miles, isn't it?

  •

No luck for me too. I just ported out yesterday to jump on this deal and she told me I need to wait 30 days.

Just called JB and signed up to this deal. I'm located in Melbourne and sim card is being sent.

    •

What postcode did you put in?

I tried to call, they were only offering $69 plan with $400 gift card

  •

ended up calling my local store (2560).

Store was fine with the $10 credit.

going to sign up later this morning.

  •

for those receiving the gift card through the call centre, did they state how it will be sent to you?

    • +2 votes

Once we activatate the sim , gift card will be received via email in 1 or 2 days.

i rang indooroopilly (qld) and they confirmed the deal, have to do it instore with 100 points of credit. confirmed ends on wed.

    good deal!

    •

so we just walk in asking for the $500 gift card deal? nothing is on the website so we are assuming the employee know the deal.

      •

i just asked about the 69 dollar phone plan, employee knew what was up. i dont think you'll have an issue mate

      •

I showed the store rep the photo from yesterday, and he knew exactly what I was talking about and did it with no fuss.

        https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/154561/83122/f1792262-...

      •

Yep, not being 'advertised' but it's available everywhere

  •

    Already telstra customer here.
If I sign up with a new number, do they see that on the system and I won't be eligible?
I'm wanting to sign up to this and cancel my old plan.
Is this possible to obtain the voucher?

  •

For an existing Telstra customer is it okay to give the same Telstra account details (e-mail) so it appears under the current account? Or would this result in the plan not going through successfully as you're not eligible

    •

They would be able to see your previous activity under the account I believe.

    • +1 vote

I just signed up via a new number on my exisitng account( currently out of contract). once i received the GC I will be calling telstra to merge the service with my old number.

      •

Did they say you’ll get the voucher no worries? Or did you not tell them you’re currently on Telstra? I’m just wondering whether they will be unable to give you the GC as you’re not technically eligible.

      •

Me too, did this in store this afternoon at Carseldine (QLD) & got my GC straight away. Took 45 mins though, guy said system was slow today - wonder why!! Just need to get Telstra chat to merge my service tomorrow and keep the old number!

    •

You can have as many services (i.e. numbers) as you want on the same account.

      •

I don’t think that’s the question he was asking though. It’s more of: would it be an issue for the GC eligibility.

  •

Finally got through. Going though the process now.

  •

how do you get it over the phone.. is it like a phone order???

    •

Yeh just call the sales number listed by OP. Too a while but finally got through. Took about 20 minutes.

  •

So im on a $49 optus plan but they are giving me a 15% discount so about $41.

    60gb unlimited everything. Free EPL.

Im looking at getting a Mac between now and end of year….is this a no brainer to swap?

I will lose the discount at optus they said and possibly not get it again.

    •

I’m ready to dump optus tbh- coverage has been terrible.

      • +2 votes

Yeah on phone now. Fk optus. 🤣

      •

Yep, been with Telstra for years. Off contract so ported out a couple months back to port back to Telstra when a good offer comes up. Optus coverage sucked!

  •

I did this last year, ported number out of Telstra to Optus pre-paid, had to wait for 1 month cool off and signed up for 12 months plan and got $500 voucher.

My plan expired this month so ported out to Vodafone again and was hoping this deal would come up again.

I'm in Vic, so I rang the 13 52 44 and they said yes, I can sign up on phone but unfortunately I'm still on 30 days cool off period since I ported out, so I have to wait another 3 weeks.

Anyone thinking about porting out to another provider and porting back in immediately, remember there's 30 days cool off period. Some people reported getting away with it but agent I spoke with said Telstra system won't allow them to even progress the order.

JB or TGG usually have this deal ongoing, just the voucher amount varies.

  •

How long does it take to process in store?
Wondering if i can fit in in over lunch today…

Also wish Jb was a stockist for oculus quest 2 :(

    •

It took me around 20mins in total and activated straight away even on a Sunday. Not long at all.

  •

Can we confirm that NSW residents can also have -$10 port in discount with $500 JB voucher?

    •

Yes. Signed up yesterday at Castle Hill store.

      •

Thanks, I will try hornsby westfield this afternoon.

        • +1 vote

I’m heading to Hornsby shortly - I’ll let you know if I have any success. Last time I got this deal (Nov or Dec 2019, from memory), there was only one guy in the mobile phone section who knew how to work around the “new Telstra customers only” restriction.

        •

Success! Managed to sign up with the same guy at Hornsby who sorted me out under identical circumstances (existing Telstra customer) last year. If you want me to give you his name, drop me a DM 👍

    •

Yep, did it yesterday. Moore Park

  •

$10/month Discount is only for Victorians

    •

      Really? That seems ridiculous.

      •

        For 'lock down' areas

      •

Perhaps it’s available for Victorians over the phone. Plenty of people able to do it in store.

        •

          possibly

    • +1 vote

That’s not true. I’m in NSW and signed up yesterday with the $10/m discount.

      •

you may have better luck instore, but wont get it over the phone

  •

Just waited on the phone for almost an hour to be told only available to Victorians. CSO was very good about it and even tried to speak to his manager about the advertising not stating that, but no go….. JB can go jump. Waiting for the Good Guys to match now.

EDIT: Called back, deal now available to everyone!

  •

Hi,signed up last week $69 for 60 through jbhifi,no mention to me of the $10 discount or extra 20gig data, should I be able to complain and get the same discount after only having the worse deal only one week?

    •

      Ps I'm in Perth WA

      •

        Exactly same situation.

    •

I'm curious as well and on the same situation like you.

  • +1 vote

Called my local store in NSW (2112), they confirmed the $500 gift card with 80GB at $59/month for 12 months in-store.

  •

Thank OP, worked in store. $500 GC and 59 pm,

  •

Signed up on previous deal $69/month for 60GB with $500 GC at JB last week, is it possible to ask Jb/Telstra for -10/m and additional 20 GB data?
Is it better to contact Jb or Telstra on this case?

    •

Same boat mate , pretty ridiculous, I crossed over from Vodafone too, must have some way off getting that changed

      •

Fair dinkum mate, otherwise I would be pissed tbh.
I switched from my $30 for 45 GB data Amaysim for this.

    •

I sign up last Friday, haven't even got the sim yet.

Called this morning and told they need to raise this to the manager as my order is already in the system.

They say they will call back asap but will follow up after lunch if not called back.

I will push for this as its a bit ridiculous if not since im technically not even ported as yet.

      • +1 vote

I think you should be good,a guy name blaxoid manage to do so.
On my case, I've been using it for more than a week now.

        •

Thanks! Def make me feel better, thats an interesting name but will keep that in mind.

        •

I am on the same boat too. Did you call telstra or jb hifi? Chatted telstra and was told to contact JB hifi. Seems odd. Would have thought telstra should make the change?

          •

@kapriak: Called JB Hi Fi Broadway just now, the manager said they would not honor this deal if you sign up on the last week deal. I will try on my Telstra App. Pretty upsetting.

  •

35 minutes on hold and still waiting..

    •

      25 minutes for me

    •

Just hit 35 as well. Throw some NBA on to kill the time.

  •

Can you use the Gift card on the actual phone you want to buy on the day???

    • +2 votes

      Yeah sure.

  •

Can this voucher be used for a pre-order at jb hifi?

        damn right!

      • +1 vote

        100% going there hahaha

    •

      Yes

  •

Just went in store and got it no problems, now what to spend that gift card on..

    •

      NSW/VIC/QLD?

And no need to ring the number? In store knew about the $500 voucher? And the $10 credit?

      •

NSW, they knew about $500 and $10 credit. they ask how I find out, I said ozbargain. "always from ozbargain"

      •

NSW Sydney, I did ring to confirm though.

One store in Sydney said they couldn't do the $10 p/m discount so I called another and they could.

The first store said the discount finished yesterday.

  • +2 votes

You can get the $59 over the phone, although weird process to get there. I'm in NSW.

Signed up 30 mins ago using phone number for the $69 plan. Asked for $59 and he said no can do, only Victoria. I argued but ended up accepting anyway. Still got $500 gift card and 20GB extra.

He called me back just now saying his manager has now advised that $59 can now be issued Aussie wide, and is now updating my order to $59 instead. Pretty good on their part!

    •

      Good info!

    •

Asked for $59 and he said no can do, only Victoria.

I went 9 am, and they have all the info, even their contract states $10 discount per month and +20gb.

  •

Does anyone know how long is the $500 voucher valid?

  •

Yep. All good here in Vic via phone. Just waiting on a call back to process

  •

Once the porting goes through to Telstra can you still use your previous provider for calls and data while waiting for the sim to come through via post?

    • +1 vote

@prisonmike - Yes. I just got off the phone and the person said that the porting only happens once you receive the SIM and initiate the process. Estimated postal time is 2-3 days.

      •

        That makes sense. :)

  •

Do you guys think we’re likely to see more competitive Telstra deals once the iPhone launches? Particularly for phone+sim plans?

    •

I have never seen iphone telstra plan promotion anyway, I did sign up Iphone X 2 years ago with Optus for $73 (still in contract) but never see Telstra iphone discount but you'd never know under this current climate, something would come up to boost their sale

  •

Has anyone had success at the Marion store in SA? Think I will head there this afternoon

  •

Got an answer within 3 minutes of calling JB, but was advised there is a line of “approx 150” people trying to get through to their Telstra affiliates, and that I could only leave my number for them to potentially call back today or tomorrow. The guy suggested going in store to get an immediate result.

  •

Do you get the gift card immediately?

    •

Nope, up to 24 hours after activation, and

if you are in Vic you have to wait until you get the SIM (couple of days), activate (up to 24 hours), and then another up to 24 hours for the gift voucher

      •

Does the sim card get activated automatically if you call and get a new number?

        •

Not sure about this one, as im porting in. But i think you need to receive the sim first before it can be activated.

    •

well if you sign up in store you get it immediately.

  • +3 votes

    Signed up easy.

Caller asked how I found out about this deal:

OzBargain, he said that website is blocked for the employees at JB centre 🤣🤣

Said he will check it out later.

    Thanks OP

  •

Is the $10 credit only available on the $69 plan? Has anyone been able to get the credit on the $99 plan as well?

Edit: Just saw the previous posts saying that the $10 credit is available on the $99 plan as well.

  •

45 minute wait and then another 15 minutes to process, however went through without any issues. Thanks!

  •

Called them left a message haven't received a call back yet.

  •

signed up at campbelltown NSW store, no issues at all.

  • +1 vote

Called my local store in NSW (Homebush DFO) and the JB hifi person said no $10 monthly credit. Does anyone know how I can go about this given how other people in NSW can get the credit?

    • +1 vote

tell the salesperson other stores are offering it, over the phone is offering it, why cant he.

just be firm, the guys getting commission from you if you sign up, its in h is best interest to sign you up regardless.
