    • I got the offer and a physical giftcard at store just before they closed. The guy told me that I am the lucky last and it will be back to the normal $300gc + $10 credit tomorrow.

Thank you OP and the many OzBargainers above for the helpful comments.

2 hours and 4 minutes on the phone from 3:45 pm AEST. Lovely guy on the chat who was efficient yet exasperated from smashing these deals through! Thanks for the tips such as ID/Credit check preparation, and the lovely OzBeanCounters who did the calculations which convinced me to stay on the phone and not give up!

Couldn’t get my number ported back in due to 30 days of cooling off - going to try and port my original number to a prepaid number, then request the number be attributed to the plan.
Does anyone know the best way to retain my phone number and get it linked to this plan? Is my plan above one that will work?

    • +1

have the same plan. Apparently it’s much easier to port the number you want to a telstra plan but I’m going to just try a simple $2 Telstra Sim and get it brought over. Hopefully it works.

This banner shows $400GC but it got changed to $500. I was ready to go instore tomorrow or Wednesday to get this deal as the banner shows it ends on the “30th Wednesday” the phone reception i have is absolutely garbage. Now late this afternoon i read here that the $500 is ending today when the banner shows it ends on the 30th. I just can’t take a trick atm everything i touch turns to dust :(

    • Hang in there. Focus on the bigger picture. It's just a phone deal…

  • Went in-store before close today. Today was the last day for a $500 card, from tomorrow it is the same deal but $400 card.

So deal is $69 plus $10 off per month for the contract period (12 months ) and a $400 jb gift card until the 30th

  • +1

oh well have to wait until they up it to 500 again no rush.

  • My experience with calling through.
Called through 715pm AEST (Melbourne), JB HiFi (WA) answered then transferred to Telstra to be put on hold. First time Telstra hung up after 15min. Called JB HiFi again, transferred to Telstra hold again, after waiting another 2hrs Telstra hung up when call centres closed. Too bad, but props to JB HiFi Callum, amazing customer service, good fella, good for a laugh.

  • +1

I wonder if we’ll be able to get the $500GC by showing this if we go instore tomorrow? Both the $700 and $500 deals show the exp as the 30th.

    • +2

You might! But you might not get the $10 bonus as its not showing on that board..

    • I missed out on this today too. If you managed to get this offer tomorrow, do let us know!

      • +2

Yep… be interested to know for sure…. clearly so many people wanting to port to telstra dont know why they would close it 2 days early.

  • Upon checking my contract details, it says “Looks like your plan for 0405xxxxxx ends in 13 months on 28 September 2021

Is this correct? I thought it was meant to be 12 months?

    • 28th September 2021 is 12 months

    • That is technically 12 months and one day (assuming you signed up 28/9) so maybe it rounds up? I'd try checking tomorrow

    • Are you kidding me? Count the months

    • Haha thanks guys clearly I didn’t count..
Just read what was shown to me
      LoL

  • so anyone from VIC who successfully ported over the phone is waiting for email/call back confirmation?

did all the procedures over the phone this morning and was told that I be called back.

    • I did. Signed up around 1pm today. Received Telstra Ebilling activation Straight away and Telstra Confirmation email with Ts&Cs and first bill estimate at 3.40pm.
But then they still have my Telstra profile and just reactivated it. Maybe backlog on Telstra processing account creation?

    • +1

I went through the process at 9:30am yesterday. Still waiting for confirmation.

      • Yeah same spent an about 30 minutes signing up on the phone yesterday and was told someone would call me back and I should receive a welcome email. As yet I haven't received anything and I wasn't given any reference number.

        • I received a follow up call at 5pm. Voicemail was left to discuss the plan. Calling back this morning - hoping all is okay.

          • @kainomac: hope it goes well for you. I am also hoping I get a call back or email confirmation : /

            • @hikki: They needed to know my current carrier. Seems the guy forgot. A confirmation would be nice though.

    • Uodate: Received confirmation from Telstra with Starteack tracking number for SIM delivery.
I did also received an email from Telstra last week about giving me $100 credit of I sign back up with them. Maybe this fast tracked stuff?
Also, I have a J B hifi account and when the guy signs me up over the phone, he said since I only had my Telstra account re-activated and have an existing J B online account, it’s quicker/easier for him to process it straight through

    • Update here as well, finally receive email confirmation from Telstra. Looks like things are going well :)

I did get a 1 minute callback from JB earlier just to confirm the Telstra transfer code and thats it.

  • +3

Eagerly awaiting the phone line to open today so see if the deal is still active.

    • Please report back when you find out.

    • Any luck?

      • +1

I called at around 0920 today and was on hold for 15 minutes so left my name and number. I also waited 80 mins yesterday and left my details but no response yet.

        • +1

Update, after 20 minutes on hold I got through. Signing up took another 20 mins.

  • Really disappointed the phone line keeps asking me to leave a message. I called twice and waited a total of more than an hour and left two messages at the end. No one called me back. Just on this note, looking at this deal again, I am not 100% sure it is even worth it given that I've never signed up any phone deal with more than $50 monthly.

    • Depends on what you are planning to use the voucher for. $500 is a big chunk off a new phone even if you have to pay an extra $20 @ month for 12 months.

    • Seems worth it. $59, only $9 more than your usual budget. You are locked in for a year: 12 x 9 = $108 over your normal budget. But you get $500 spending power back in return.

As long as JB Hifi sell something that you are interested in. Or you can put it towards a phone and sell the phone after the year. I got a Pixel 3a last year with a similar deal, I can sell that now for a profit if needed.

    • In the comments above many people have waited > 90 minutes to be answered, and the call centre have indicated they have a list of 500+ voicemails, with no evidence of anyone getting a callback.. If you want this deal don’t leave a message and hold the line.

  • Anyone getting through?

    • I just got off call now from Melbourne. says deal is still active with $10 discount and 20gb bonus data but gift card is now $400 and not $500

      • How long did you wait?

Guess $10 discount is better than $100 gift card

        • not much wait, less then 10 min. i believe its still good deal but i did not sign up.

        • The $10 discount was yesterday too, so it's $100 worse than yesterday in total

          • @sareth: Yup, or $90 worse considering gift card resale value.

  • I'm on now. Offer has been reduced to $400.

  • Crap. Thought it ended on Wednesday… Missed out.

  • Did you press 1 for Telstra phone plan when you called up? I did and so far 1/2 wait

  • Aw seriously it’s over? Was going to head into jb today after work. Wasn’t it meant to go until Wednesday??

    • Got Ozbargained yesterday. They reduced the gift to $400 if you’re still interested.

      • +1

Damn. Definitely not as good value at that point. The $500 was all that was swinging me. Given I currently only pay $39 a month for 35GB with the unlimited 1.5mbps after going over that 35. Really didn’t need the extra data but in preparation for the iPhone 12 I was keen for the gift card.

        • +1

Still worth it, saving of $100 with the GC plus you get to be on the telstra network.

          • @Jaystea: Already on Telstra. I was going to be doing the number swap trick. For my bill to go up by $20 a month the $500 is really what made it worthwhile.

            • @dwhes: Ah I see. I suppose then the question would just be, would the hassle be worth $160 to you? Because that's how much you'd be gaining. PLUS, not to mention all the freebies you'll get from having a new phone number (I'm thinking uber eats, door dash etc. just all the…food delivery LOL so much food).

              • @Jaystea: Yeh don’t think it’s really worth the hassle for $160. Oh well. There will be other offers in the future I’m sure.

  • Anyone experienced porting from Belong ?

    • They won’t allow you to port your number from Telstra resellers such as Belong or Boost directly. You would need to port out to another carrier first.

      • Thanks ! So like a prepaid 10$ Optus card ? Do I have to wait for 30 days?

        • +1

Yep, you’ll need to prove that you’ve been out of Telstra’s network for 30 days for this particular plan.

  • Signed up yesterday at 9:30am. Missed a call from a rep at 5pm. Calling back this morning but been on hold for half an hour. Hoping no issues.

  • +2

If anyone has time to walk instore today show them this you might be able to still get the $500 Gift Card

    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/154561/83122/f1792262-…

    • Although that doesn't say $10 credit. Worth a shot regardless.

      • wouldnt bother. the data+monthy credit lasts until end of month.

the gift card can vary per day. thats what I'm told. so it could be 300 tommorrow.

        • Damn already $300 at JB Hi Fi Biggera Waters

      • Apparently based on other people’s comments on here, you can also call up Telstra and apply the $10 credit on any active services

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/568934?page=5#comment-9371…

  • I’m holding the line for more than a hour already. Morning not a good time to go?

  • was told its $400 as well. $10 credit still there.

  • +1

    It's $400 now, no deal !

    • Worth saying you were on the phone for hours???

      • Yes, yesterday and today all up nearly 3 hours (Vic), oh well hopefully they have another deal like this soon.

  • Luckily I went to honebush branch yesterday and signed. I just ported in Lebara for 2 days from boost, still got through. $500 ready for iPhone 12

  • +2

Can confirm after speaking with them this morning and clarifying with the manager:
    - $69/month for 12 months with $10/month credit and $400 gift card (equates to $25.67/month for 80GB data)
    - $99/month for 12 months with $10/month credit and $600 gift card (equates to $39/month for 150GB data)
    - Both plans include 5G network

Not as good as yesterday’s deal and spent 65 minutes on hold when I called at 9:00am on the dot.

    • Hey mate appreciate the info. Did they confirm when the deal ends?

    • Thanks for the info.

Others say should take 10% off gift card value, so it would equate to $29/m for 80GB data, or $44/m for 150GB data.

No international calls like Boost though

This hold music is worse than covid

    • Bump + for the comment 🤣🤣.

      • Supercheap Auto has the same hold music
Yesterday I had both on speaker, made one hell of a tune!

  • I waited for 1 1/2 hours only to have them hand up on me (and that's after I left a message yesterday). Potentially getting shafted in Victoria - don't know if I can be bothered calling again…

  • +2

Ok long wait. Over an hour but finally got through. I was told they are honouring the $500 if you left a message yesterday. But in order to get it I’d have to wait till they call back which could be next week due to the volume of call backs. So I took the 400 and signed up today

    • i signed up last friday and still havent got my Gc!

      • Me neither:( Did you port or get a new number. Has your sim card arrived?

        • sim arrived yesterday and activated

    • That's re-assuring! I might call again (for sh1ts and giggles) to see if I can get through and have this verbal recognition.

    • They assured me the same thing and I chose to wait for the call back.

  • +2

Hold the line for hour and a half and Jibifihi assured me because I requested a callback yesterday so they will call me back in the next couple of days (maybe next week even) and people like me are still eligible for $500 deal.

    • Are they going to honour the offer of $500 gc ?

      • Yes the same deal as yesterday

    • Do their systems know you actually rang?

      • Apparently yes. When I asked for a reference number they said they can see my number is there and that itself is all I need as reference.

    • Awesome customer service.

  • Oh that's good to know - so I don't have to wait on hold to get the $500 gift card today if I left a message yesterday? Or is it worth ringing to clarify? Glad I left a message last night!

    • I called and confirmed. The answer is YES.

  • is the $10 credit off per month not a thing anymore with telstra? Thought you could just go live chat and get it activate each time :/

    • I agree. You can just chat with the rep and get them to apply $10 off per month on eligible services

  • Left a message yesterday after waiting on the phone for 1.5 hours, but the voice message cut off within 5 seconds basically saying "kkthxbye". Not holding my breath…

  • Just went to Hornsby JB for the new service. From what they said, tomorrow will be $300 GC instead of $400 and the $10 discount will be removed as well, not sure if it is true or just quick sell skills. New service is pretty quick compare with the port in. Also, staff account can have extra 25% off, with $69 plan one will bring it down to $41. I know with some JB, they won't allow you to do so but you can always try your luck.

    • Think a sales play….

  • +1

Just had a chat with one of the Customer service specialists. He mentioned that if you had left a voice message on 28/09/2020, you will get a call back sometime this week or early next week and you would be eligible for the full deal ($500 gift card, $10 credit and +20GB bonus). That is only for customers who left the message on 28/09/2020.

    • Called them again this afternoon and the fella said they are only doing $400 gc. I also mentioned I left a voicemail yesterday and didn’t receive any call back to which he said he cannot honour $500 gc as they have exhausted the quota of $500 gc. He also said to keep an eye for the next promotion. Hope this helps.

  • Add says 30th for $400 and $10 off until tomorrow.

Website only lists $300 and $69.

OP where did you see the $400 and $59?

    • If OP has no official source of the info, then we are screwed.

I rang. Tomorrow it is $300 GC and $69/month.

      • Rang again. Tomorrow it is $400GC and $59/month. My goodness so much confusion. I have the sales rep's details to be safe.
