    • Same! I have not received it yet even though the guy said it will be sent through

      • I signed up Friday so maybe they’re having email issues today?

        • Yeah i signed up this morning, likely why. Telstra hasn't received anything from JB about the port when i checked

        • Thanks, just got to be patient I guess! Also think they may be flooded with all the requests

      • Oh good. Glad it's not just me. Just hoping I don't miss out on the galaxy s20 fe pre order

    • Same here, signe dup over the phone and no conf email :/

    • Signed up mid afternoon and no email yet as well. The lady over the phone did say it would take up to 24 hours to receive the confirmation email though.

      • Confirmation email just came through for me.

    • To update: Managed to get through their line. I signed up around 11am, they confirmed it was in the system just really backed up in queue. They likely need to do a credit check etc for mine since I've never been with Telstra.

    Hi all,
Currently on Telstra 12 month prepaid, expiring on 16 Dec 2020. Is it possible for me to sign up for this deal with a new number, and get it swapped with my current prepaid number after the expiry, through Telstra support?
    Thanks. Good post OP!

  • Took me about 1 hour and 45 minutes on hold, then about 15-20 minutes to complete the process. Looking forward to decent coverage (the guy couldn't hear me with my patchy Optus coverage).

  • +1

This deal has been on before, but never so popular it seems. I wonder if certain next-gen consoles played a role in that?

    • Correct me if im wrong, I dont think it has?

Not to this value and extras included?

      • +2

I signed up for a similar deal about a year ago. It was 60 GB instead of 80 GB, but came with AUD 500 gift card and I ended up paying AUD 49 a month instead of $59 due to some Telstra discount. 12 month contract.

edit think it was this one:
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/454507

        • Uhh I see, yeah very similar.
          Nice price!

    • +1

the $10 off was a lottery before. $10 off guaranteed is why it is popular.

many were just off contract from last year deal.

      • That's true, I remember some people didn't get the $10.

        • Yea this is the best deal I’ve seen since last year. I had the same deal, paid $49 for 60gb data after getting the $20 monthly credit was credited to my account and had the $500 gift card. The coverage from Telstra is excellent and given I work in many areas of vic, it’s definitely a welcome over Optus which would cut off in many areas. Not to mention the Telstra offers throughout the year like rewards points. Somehow I’ve clocked up over 80k worth of free points from getting multiple of their direct debit offers.

Today I’ve signed up again with a new number, and gotten my mum, sister and partner on it too!

  • Just to ask, do you get extra credit, if you get NBN and mobile both at the same time?

  • +1

Called the WA call centre, 2 hour process all up (~1.5hrs hold, ~30min set up), staff knew exactly what I wanted and process went smoothly.
Delivery fee for the sim card which I think I heard was $9.95 caught me a bit off guard but at that point I didn't care much about it.
JB gift card should be recieved via email <48hrs after activating Telstra sim.
Also, WA call centre closes at 5pm if anyones interested.

    • My charge was 0.

But im in Vic so they have no choice but to mail it out

    • Zero for existing Telstra customers (I just had an account and no active services)

  • just got mine completed over the phone and it took 2hrs including the waiting time….finally….thank you OP. :)

    • Did you get an email order confirmation yet?
I think the guy I spoke to said he would send them out this afternoon…

      • +1

Nope not yet but I did receive a bill activation email from Telstra….i have also asked for the reference number for my records.

The guy said the same thing that he will call back/send email later once he puts the order through.

        • Yeah they said possibly upwards of 100 orders an hour they were smashing out!

  • Just scraped in and got it…. Coincide with TPG end of month too rolling off…. Cya TPG….
Not sure what I'll do with the voucher yet though.

  • Just wonder is this the best bargain so far?
I just called the shop and they do have the $99 a month but only $700. Saw someone had $800 couples of day before.
Not sure anything better for Christmas promotion

    • It is.

  • Still waiting for my call back from my call at 11am (NSW) zzzz

  • Better than the previous $500 voucher deal that's for sure.

  • No chance for a family member to go in store and sign me up? I'm currently 400km from the nearest JBs on a work trip and don't have the time to spend 2 hrs on the phone :(

    • +1

In a store now, couldn't sign up my partner without them being in the store too.

  • So if I sign up to this and choose to get a new number they send out a sim in in 5 business days. When I activate can I choose to port in a number instead of having the new number?

  • +1

Got mine done at North Lakes JB (QLD), guy said there were quite a few people who signed up for it in store today and today is in fact the last day. Took all of maybe 20 minutes and walked out with $500 in gift cards, couldn't have gone smoother. Cheers OP.

  • Does anyone know if we can use multiple of these vouchers during the same transaction?

  • Couldn't get through on this number - no call back from 9:30am either….

  • Not sure if it has been reported yet, but it's $500 gc today, goes down to $400 from tomorrow

    • Bugger. I couldn't get through.

I currently pay AUD 30 per month for my plan, so the hassle wouldn't be worth it for AUD 400 (only 40 bucks profit over a year).

  • +1

Went to JB hifi in dfo homebush and no q. Took about 20 mins. Got activated on the spot and got physical gift card. Store staff said it drops to $400 tomorrow

    • Ditto at Homebush - got there at about 4:45pm, no line then. By the time we left at 5:30pm, there were 4 people waiting, and 2 poor staff working overtime.

  • Has anyone who signed up last week on this plan had any luck with getting the $10 credit applied

    • Nope,no chance at all. Tried JB and Telstra.

      • kangverrel, have you activated your sim yet. I did and it seems I have 80gb of data, and I got a $10 credit applied through telstra

  • 1 hour 30 mins waiting on the phone and got thru to a sale rep in WA (I'm in Vic), this is second last day for $500 gc so you might have to act quickly tomorrow

  • +3

I first called and waited about 1.5hr on the phone, only then to go to the kitchen quickly and heard the operator on the speaker. I did not make it back to the phone in time to answer.
I called again and waited for 1hr & 50min and finally got through. Process took about 25 mins. This will go to the PS5!

  • i am calling them on 135244 number for last 3 hours. still waiting for someone to answer :(
Melbourne can not go into store

  • +1

Just got off with them as well after close to 2 hour wait. The deal is still on tomorrow.

As for the GC - i was told the expiry is 1 year and the only condition is that it cannot be used for priced matched items.

    • +1

what state are you in ? alot of people are saying this deal ends today

      • +1

Based on comments, in store deal might end today but over the phone might end tmr??

      • +2

His profile says his in Melbourne.

      • Sorry i was away from my computer, yes i am in Melbourne. The person on the phone said tomorrow is the last day as the cut off date is the 30th.

    • that's a bit odd that you can't use this on price matched items and there's a 1 year expiry. unless I'm mistaken, these should be the standard GC's that you would normally get at JB.

      • Yea I reckon it's just standard GC TC's. Whatever the sales person said would likely pertain to that.

      • Yeah. I was told it was unlimited expiry with no restrictions. It looks like the standard gift card as well.

    • The guy instore in QLD told me the promo will continue to end of month, but gift card drops to $400 tomorrow.

  • +1

Thanks OP. I'm currently with Optus and it was disappointing that they would only give me a discount when I said I was intending to port out (I initially tried casually asking what sort of deals/discounts they could offer me). They were willing to provide a $10 discount on their $49 month to month postpaid plan for a max duration of 24 months. Whilst with this deal you are effectively 'bound' to buy something from JB, it still works out more value for money.

Also I asked when this deal was expiring and the person on the phone said the 30th September and there is no expiry on GC's too (I'm in VIC).I waited for about 1 hour 40 mins ish, so keep holding on if you're keen on this deal!

    • +1

100%. Same boat as you. They gave me 8 bucks off the 49 plan.
Saw this, Optus had no chance.

      • +2

There's no real benefit for being loyal these days, is there? Like with your earlier comment, I don't really need the 80gb data but if I were to compare this with what the other big corporates are offering (mostly just Optus because Vodafone's coverage is terrible), this is pretty good value. I'd only be able to get ~$17/month if I signed up with one of the smaller companies but for less data and questionable service, so a great win for the next 12 months!

        • Exactly! I thought about it for maybe 10 minutes.
I remembered Optus giving me a hard time last week even to get the 8 bucks off. They made it sound like as if I was asking for one of their legs.

I need a laptop and thought, why not pay the extra to recieve the better deal now then wait for Optus to miraculously come back to the table with a deal. Like you also said "bound to buying something from Jb" but would still rather give an Austrlian store my money then go elsewhere!

          • @iNeed2Pee: I agree with you - I asked 4 different Optus reps and it was all 'sorry, no discounts' straight up whereas Telstra (for something unrelated to this deal) were more than happy to oblige the first time I asked.

Plus with the added fleixbility of no expiry on gift cards, you have plenty of time to decide on what you want to buy (if you change your mind on the laptop). If not for yourself, gifts for friends or family since there's something for everyone there :)

  • +1

Took me 2 hour and 13 min including waiting time to complete the registration on the phone, and the sales guy told me today is the last day of the 500 jb voucher and tomorrow will reduce to 400, so the deal is still on but you will get less credit, that's how I was told, also he told me I was his last call for today and he has called more than 20 ppl today, must be exhausted for them. I am in VIC.

    • guess theres no chance for the people on hold including me :(

  • Oh man I'm still on hold! I hope there are others still picking up calls!

  • Just in store at jb hi fi the system is overloaded but he put my order through manually. I need go back tomorrow to finalize but I'll get the 500$ voucher even if it drops to 400$ tomorrow.

  • Called JB, put through to Telstra who hung up on me?

EDIT: Telstra will call me back. One day.

    • +1

      Telstra people really suck

  • I got this today. I was told that because that Telstra have been inundated with requests for this that today will be the last day of the offer. Go back to $69 and $400 I believe

  • +2

2 hours 30 minutes and still on hold …

    • Same……

  • I requested a callback at 12pm noon but never got a call back. How is that

    • +2

Never request a call back 🤣

  • +1

I am on hold since last 40 mins or so. Do they drop the call after 7pm or does is still remain in the queue till some one answers? Any ideas?

    • +2

I'm guessing the call center is already closed but they just leave the incoming call on hold.

A system issue but disgraceful nonetheless - no one cares.

      • +1

Alright in that case I am out. Will watch out for the next time.

  • Probably that's it I think - after 7 PM I suspect no one is going to answer :-(

  • Thanks OP - signed up in ACT store with about 10 other people. Took 20mins, 80GB and $10 discount applied. $500 gift card issued straight away.

  • I signed up for it over the phone this afternoon but have yet to receive any confirmation email. Can someone confirm how long it takes to receive a confirmation email?

    • +2

I signed up yesterday afternoon and yet to get a confirmation email…

      • Well thats good to know…but also not.

        Thanks for letting us/me know

        • It will come. Telstra need to prepare a PDF customised for your bill setup

  • I did both within an hour cos I was existing customer but still ported in 2 numbers as I had mobile broadband. No giftcards as activation took too long and circle is too shit

  • Damn intended to do this tomorrow in Vic. So it’s $400 GC and $69 a month as of tomorrow?

    • Not quite worth the hassle with $400 gc and $69 to be honest.

      • Nope, my current contract is $30 so it’s an extra $360 over the year on the above offer for a $500 GC. The lower deal would kill that $140 gain.

        • Exactly the same here. Currently AUD 30 on Amaysim. A $400 gift card would mean I am essentially paying off the gift card over a year and get an extra $40 for free. Not worth the hassle.

  • Disappointing that I got told at 11 that I’d be called back. Then later this arvo 21/2 hour wait and still no answer.

  • Does it cap your data? (limit your speed when you exceed 80gb?)

    • +1

Yes, throttled to 1.5mbps (no excess data charges)

  • Called the number and store person said it’s ended… I’m in South Australia.

    • Oh as in it’s already done?

  • So is tomorrow 69 and 400 or 59 and 400?

  • +1

I went into the store about 30 min before they closed. I received $1200 in gift cards for signing up two sim plans and the NBN. I logged into both Telstra accounts and we each got 6 months Binge for free too. Thanks OP!

  • Tried to go in store but public holiday in WA so they were closed 30 mins early… so no longer available via phone???

  • I went to the store as soon as I read someone said this deal expires today. From the start to complete port-in, it took me about 1 hr 20 mins. Service got activated almost instantly.

  • Just called now, the deal has ended in Melbourne :(

    • I rang at 3pm and left a message - no call back yet. Where did you call 38 minutes ago that was still open?

  • Guess we will find out if the $500 GC offer is still available tomorrow or not

    • WA resident here. The JB Hi-Fi staff told me that it will be 400 dollar GC tommorow. Did mine at the last minute just before 5 pm close. I asked them if the deal was still on. Which it still is but lower the GC.

      • Well RIP then. Thanks for notifying
