I was waiting for under $500 and will still probably wait. A good price for those that want to pull the trigger now instead of waiting.

    • +4

Might be worth buying it using gift cards. Catch had 15% off sometime back, which would make this $483.65
Not sure if we have something atm.

      • +2

max gift card are 5. Therefore it will be $494 in real cost

      • 8% discount at Suncorp

        • 5 gift cards ($100) each @ 8% = $460
Plus the remaining amount, comes out to be 460+69 = $529

          • @b0nd: paypal was offered 15% off on catch gift card

            • +1

@maxall: Yeah, I was calculating the current deal @ 8%.
PayPal deal no longer exists, so no point in calculations.

          • @b0nd: Suncorp let's you specify the gift card amount from $10 to $500.

            • @lomie: Another $5.5 saved, if you can use $500 + $69 gift cards.

              Aprox $524

      • +1

If anything goes wrong, you'll be stuck with $500 of Catch store credit though.
This happened to me when ordering a Xiaomi M365 scooter.

        • what you mean anything goes wrong?

also what happen with your xiaomi scooter order?

          • +2

@pinkybrain: My scooter arrived dead. I returned it. Catch no longer stocked it, so they could only offer me a refund but because I used gift cards, they could only give me store credit.
I could have bought it from a third party seller on Catch but it was going to be a few hundred more than the original price.

            • @theguyrules: how long does their gift card and refunded store credit last in expiry date?

so did you manage to get something else with the $500 store credit?

              • @pinkybrain: It had a year expiry date if I remember correctly.
Yeah, we used it over the year for gifts and groceries.

                • @theguyrules: did you get another xiaomi scooter from somewhere else?

                  • @pinkybrain: Yeah got one on eBay from the official Xiaomi Australia store, during a coupon sale for cheaper than Catch originally.

Ordered mine last week and paid 600, didnt wait because my monitor died. It's still sitting at the sortation facility. Thanks Auspost.

    • +6

I hope mine dies too - will have a good reason to convince Mrs. and buy this :)

      • So the Mrs is the man of the house???

        • +10

You're lucky if you are not questioned on buying things that you already have.. LOL

@b0nd: I recall being a kid and asking my parents for stuff, the answer was mostly "no"

Aint gonna happened now I'm all grown up, so I guess I'm lucky.

Anyway, hope your old monitor dies too :)

        Good reason to buy cheap
        They die quicker
        I bought a business grade Samsung 27’ 1440 monitor 7 years ago for $600
Had thought about this but really want the Philips 43 Ultra wide

When mentioned she did not say no, didn’t say yes either…

“When mentioned she did not say no, didn’t say yes either…”

          That’s the catch.. hahaha

    • Strange. I bought mine from Gearbite and received it in under a week.

    • get a 28degrees master card for price protection

  • whats the next one up from this?

    • +2

An IPS version of a 34inch supporting 3440x1440? And with Gsync? E.g. Acer Predator X34P

  • Does this support VESA mount?

    • +31

      Yes, 100x100.
It also displays google search pretty nicely.

  • Same price on Bogan atm, with free shipping if you get the "first" trial thingamy :)

edit : sorry just noticed it a preorder for 2nd of november, my bad

  • Wonder how low this will go during cyber Monday

    • +1

Yeah, even I’m happy to wait.. May be $499, that’s the lowest it has been

      • Really? At that price, I would be tempted to get it too…

  • Silly question, as this supports FreeSync, does it mean it wont work as well with Nvidia cards (say a 3080) as a GSync monitor?

    • +2

Yep. You just need to turn on the "G-Sync Compatible" setting on the Nvidia driver to get most FreeSync monitors working on modern Nvidia GPUs.

However it's been reported on a few reviews that this monitor only runs G-Sync up to 120Hz.

      • Hi cheap, Can I get a link RE 120hz only on NVIDIA?

  • +3

Ordered one of these from kogan, has been delayed twice, ended up with two $20 kogan vouchers

  • Are these monitors any good? anything wrong with them? mainly gonna use for gaming and desktop

    • Have a look at Hardware Unboxed video on YouYube for a comprehensive review.

TLDW: It's not true 144hz but performs well at around 100hz. Colour accuracy and uniformity is quite bad. It's not a great panel but is well built and an amazing value. Other monitors with the same panel are worse and more expensive. Personally I'm waiting for a price closer to $500 and release of 3070.

      • Nice, thank you for the summary. True, would be good waiting but I'm too impatient haha. Do you know if these ship from Australia?

        • Yup bought one from Gearbite in August, it shipped from Melbourne

      • What do you mean by not true 144hz? The video shows that at medium overdrive settings response time is about 6.xx seconds at 144hz.

  • Do these ship from Australia?

    • +1

      Yup

  • Is the 4ms response time really bad when gaming?

  • does it has sound/speaker inbuilt? cant find it in the specs. I am looking for a 34" curved with sound inbuilt, and if possible with a webcam as well. anything in the market with that?

    • No inbuilt speakers on this one. I don't know any specific models that do, but some of the Samsungs have inbuilt speakers.

  • Might as well say this is RRP with how frequently it's this low!

  • could be wrong, but wasn't this like 530 after cashback about 2wks ago?

  • I actually bought one but sent it back opting to pay a bit more for a gigabyte g34wqc which has 1ms response time. I thought it was worth the extra 90 bucks and a 3 yr warranty. So an alternative to consider.

    • Not saying it is or isn't better but claimed 1ms response times are 99% bullshit

      • How do you test? I'd be interested to know if it was worth my extra 90 bucks

        • No idea on the methodology but I usually put my faith in some of the more detailed reviewers ie. Hardware Unboxed (don't know if they've done this particular monitor yet). IMO warranty alone was probably worth it for you though!

    • I am still waiting for a proper review of that monitor, as I would prefer it too.

  • Does this have 3.5 mm jack?

    • Yes, it does.

  • I've noticed the rrp on the xiaomi au page is now 599

    • True, aprox $581 with cash back

  • Paid $579 in August, good monitor!

  • +1

If I impulse bought this right now, how long you think I'll be waiting?

    • I ordered on the 5th Via Catch but still no update or any shipping info, tried to contact Gearbite but no answer. Im guessing a while based on my experience.

      • well thats sh**. any updates. how long do you think a while is becuase i want to buy also??

        • They replied to me yesterday and said it will get sent via Express post by Aus post and should arrive by next week Wednesday.

  • How does this compare to the 34" Kogan?
I can't find much on the Kogan screen

  • Would this work with the $25 off on catch with latitude pay?

  • 8% shopback @ catch, brings this down to $524.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/571433

    • Thanks mate !! Added to the post

  • Would I get the 8% cashback if I pay all with gift cards?
