  • +12

    Well this is very limited…

    • +1

Yeah, no toys, no health, and so forth.

    • with thousands of votes (including the $10 promotional credit deal) I wonder what do people buy?

      • Alcohol is the only appealing one tbh

  • Subscribe and save is ineligible for regular cashback, what about the bonus?

    • The bonus would be ineligible as well. To be eligible you'll need to purchase from an eligible category and it must not be via Subscribe & Save.

      • +2

OK, thanks, yes, I just realised the category eligibility list is very limited!

Does this mean I have to purchase items from eligible categories if I want the $5 cashback bonus as well?

    • +1

      Correct.

    • +1

The devil is in the detail.

  • +4

    No 10% electronics? :(

    • Electronics have been off the table for ages now.

      • +2

Was an 8% back in July!

  • +5

    Cant be trusted any more

  • +18

    Too complicated..

  • App is not even working let alone entering a code

    • same, its saying the code does not exist. edit: nvm working now

  • Invalid refresh token error?

    • +1

It worked after I signed out and back in within the app.

  • +14

Still chasing my cashback from the Ebay offer. Cashback is so hit and miss lately I can't even be bothered with the headache of waiting 7 days, sending back and forth emails etc just for a few dollars. When they correct the procedures I might come back…My Commbank cashback is flawless.

    • +5

Too much chasing up and getting copy and paste responses from the "Debra".

    • +16

      This.

Lately I've been getting constant rejections for cashback through Shopback despite having ticked all the boxes…until after sending order numbers and screenshots querying the rejection "Debra" tells me it's the retailer who has rejected it and washes her hands of it.

Great concept early on but now I've been driven to hardly bother jumping through the hoops anymore.

      • +7

I have to admit this happened twice to me on Groupon via Cashrewards. I provided all the screenshots and proof of purchases etc. After about 5 months, Cashrewards responded saying the retailer had rejected it, however they would pay from their own pockets. I have to admit when it comes to correspondence via email, Cashrewards seems much more "human" to me…as opposed to this Debra.

      • +2

Yup got the same rejection from Debra after a $400 purchase, even though i used the bloody Shopback app to go to Ebay

  • The instant pot deal better be counted. It's listed under "home" and I took a screenshot just to be safe

    • Kitchen and Dining = nada

      • it's not listed under kitchen and dining

  • -2

Accessories? does this one qualify???? https://www.amazon.com.au/Overwatch-Extended-Custom-Professi...

    LOL

  • +1

I just used this to buy 2x puma shorts from an earlier deal..just an idea.

  • What are Accessories in eligible items…
Computer or mobile accessories (like usb hub etc) included or are they termed as electronics?

  • What about the home category? What are the sub categories that live under that?

    • Includes Bed Bath, Decor, Storage & Organisation, Heaters, Fans, Vacuum Cleaners, Mattresses, Furniture

      • Thanks for this.

Can I ask why this is not made more transparent on your website. There are clearly a number of vague categories, and not proactively disclosing this information is a little shady.

Unless of course that is the intention

        • +2

That was copied directly from the website, see here

          • +2

@gotyourback: Fair go. I just checked and it was your competitor that didn’t elaborate in the categories. Happy to admit when I am wrong.

      • does this include household appliances that are listed under home? the instant pot deal…

    • Does it include home improvement?

      • +1

        Home Improvement would be excluded.

  • +1

The Alcohol category is pursuant to my interests

  • would SD card or bluetooth speaker be part of it?

    • These would be excluded.

  • Kitchen and Dining is listed under "Home" but not in the specifically included list. In or out?

    • Unfortunately they're out.

      Kitchen & Dining 0.00%

  • +4

Too many exclusions… Ends up with too many confusions and QnA

Instead give links on whats included. This will save ur energy and time as well as ozbargainers…

  • Health, Household > Paper Towel

  • +9

Check all the sub categories apart from main category - the way Amazon groups items, it makes them easy to decline cash back.

  • +13

Given Shopbacks reputation with user data .. I am going to pass

  • Can I use a gift card to pay?
Yes (provided you are buying eligible items). Amazon credit (eg. Promotional Credit) on the other hand will not make you eligible.

Are sums covered by the gift card value not counted towards cashback?

    • +1

Sums covered by the gift card value do count towards cashback.

  • +5

Shopback cannot be trusted with their customers' data.

  • Doesn’t seem to be able to add for me in the app. I get errors like invalid refresh token.

    • Try logging out then logging back in.

  • Is Luggage Accessories included in the Luggage category or ineligible for cashback?

  • App not working 7:22am

  • Does https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/572320 (Omo Active Clean Laundry Detergent 5kg) qualify the cashback transaction?

    • Unfortunately no.

      Health, Household & Personal Care › Household & Cleaning›Laundry

  • +10

Pass. Too many reneged bonus cashbacks in the past from Shopback.

    • Yep just yesterday I emailed them asking to appeal the cashback amount I received for Catch.com.au, as their checkout didn't process my order until after the bonus cashback period (which Catch acknowledged in writing). But they are refusing to even try to appeal it.

  • +1

FWIW shopback was great for me last time I didn't get cashback.

If you do screenshots, perhaps record your screen they won't have s leg to stand on.

I spent $14 at iconic and got my cashback plus the bonus $10 back in the rewards section.

I think it also depends on who your support person is too.

  • OP, what about Sports, Fitness and Outdoor category? The category is valid for cashback but you have not mentioned it in your post. Can you please confirm?

    • +1

Thanks, thought we missed something. Yes those are eligible.

  • Which category do ear buds fall in?

    • Unless Amazon make them, they're not in the inclusions

  • will this offer work on the web..or only for app?

    • Once you've redeemed the code, you can make your qualifying purchase on any device (not just the app).

  • Thanks OP

  • are perfumes included in this?

    • If it's listed under Beauty >Premium Beauty then yes.

  • +6

Unreliable awarding of cashbacks and poor handling of user data. Massive increase in phishing emails the past few weeks after their breach.

    • +1

crap i was wondering why the heck i was getting so much more of that stuff.. now it makes sense, can't believe i didn't put 2 and 2 together being in IT lol

  • +1

Judging the comments it seems like most people have forgotten about the data breach all to get a measly $5 cashback. I mean $5 is still better than the usual SB offers of $2 but the fact they took SO long to finally inform everyone (I didn’t even get an email not even in spam folder) is a red flag.

Still get tons of unknown spam calls including foreign numbers, spam emails and spam sms(es?) everyday: always getting spam calls no matter what. So ridiculous. It’s impossible to block them all.

  • As of 1st of October 2020, Beauty, DVD & Blu-Ray, Home Improvement, Lawn & Garden, Office Products, Pet Food & Supplies, Physical Music, Tools are not eligible for cashback.

  • Hi SB,
Can I buy a mixture of eligible and non-eligible items?
Yes, provided the total amount of the eligible items is $5 or greater.

Does it mean eg,. Buy $5 from fashion or automative categories plus $15 electronic category will qualify ?

    • Oops thanks we copied that from an old post - no you need to buy $20 worth of eligible categories still, but if you also have other things in your cart at the same time then it's still fine.

    • Home Improvement, so unfortunately no.

  • Done. Bought some socks and jocks for the children.

  • Hi, What's considered premium beauty vs beauty?

    • Premium Beauty. It depends on the item, you'll need to look at what subcategory it's listed in. Eligible ones are listed via Beauty >Premium Beauty

  • Hi rep, by "when you make a transaction of $20 or more (excluding delivery fees) at Amazon Australia", you mean the price paid in cart right? That is, including GST? (as usually the cashback amount excludes GST).

    • Yep correct it's including GST. If it was excluding GST we would have said when you make a transaction of $20 or more (excluding delivery fees & GST).

      • Thanks for the clarification =)

  • To the OP, for a children's night light - would this category be "home"?

    • +1

Best to see what category Amazon puts it in.

You can usually find it in the directory appearing in small grey fonts/link, e.g.: "Clothing, Shoes & Accessories›Women›Accessories›Hats & Caps›Sun Hats".
