PS: The DiskStation DS920+ is part of the 20% off Flash Sale tonight; so would be $775.20 Delivered (Assuming Jack doesn't appear).

    • Lets hope that they dont mark up the prices before the discounts.

      • +5

So be aware of Jack and Mark.

        Got it.

    • THANKS !

  • +5

Shouldn't really be posting these deals when the prices are not confirmed. We can probably trust CA to be good, but no others. Shouldn't be posting any though.

    • +4

And if anything, giving them incentive to jack

  • Anyone seen any good deals for rack units going around?

  • Awesome, thanks! Anyone believe these will be available cheaper during black Friday?

    • +1

      Ask a psychic maybe?

    • Yes

  • do you guys think it will be better during black friday?

    • +1

Buy first ask questions later. If they dont mark or jack up the prices its still at least 100-200 bucks discount. 775 is already the lowest price on record so yer. Unless black friday can do 700-750 then i guess this woould be an okay price.

    • +1

From memory Synology was widely a swing and a miss last Black Friday.

  • No love for Austor, none of their NAS are ebay plus items.

    • Nah there is in general very little love for Asustor, i like their hardware. I was leaning towards getting one but i realised that there is very little support and information available for the brand.

  • Does anyone know of any good drive deals to do with this? I'm looking for 10TB at a minimum.

  • +4

Man why does this stuff have to be so pricey. I can't justify dropping $770 on a NAS + $1k on HDD's only to be left with 24TB after RAID for a Plex media server…

    • some people don't use plex alone, maybe run some vm's or docker services. But I agree self-hosting can get costly — but still at least it's yours — data hoarder 4 life :)

      • Self hosting seems like the only reliable option for Plex, unfortunately.

    • Yep, tell me about it. I've wanted one of these for years, but I can never justify it…

    • Try Unraid on a retired robust workstation for half if you don't mind power consumption

    • Man why does this stuff have to be so pricey.

Because it just released in June of this year.

Every Synology 4-bay NAS starts out with an RRP of around $800-1000 and then drops down to below $600 after 2 years.

It's predecessor went down to an all-time low of $550.

If you can still find cheap stock of the DS918+, that would be the better value proposition for a majority of buyers as the slightly faster CPU in the DS920+ doesn't really matter much to most people.

I personally use my DS918+ for:

      1. Backup all my raw files from photography sessions (and Lightroom library file)
      2. Backup all my raw video files from my videography sessions (and FCPX library files)
      3. Have git installed to manage all my projects and codes
      4. Have all my documents and study materials
      5. Backup all my household computers here
      6. Have all the downloaded media

All of the above accessible from any computer / phone / tablet / TV / AirPlay devices we use over internet (and intranet of-course). Resulting in a pure freedom of file access and usage from wherever, as long as I have an internet connection of-course.

P.S. You also need to backup the files from NAS to off-site or cloud drive incase the NAS itself goes belly-up. Hope it helps :)

      • Were there any particular resources you used to get all that set up? That seems very similar to my use cases — thinking of using backblaze or S3 glacier for cold storage backup of the NAS as well.

        • Nothing special really.

Except for docker with HomeAssistant, Oracle XE and Microsoft SQL Server, all the above are either just file system along with DLNA server or built in apps coming from Synology themselves.

Took a bit of time & patience to get everything up and running though.

any deals on single or 2 bay ? looking to host plex but 4k capable.

  • Awesome got one! thanks team!!

  • Thanks. I got one too.

  • Can confirm jack didnt come to the party here 👍
    Awesome deal

  • I was hoping their DS1618+ would accept the code but it doesn't.

$985 would have been possibly an all time low.

  • hey guys, check out the deal for the memory and HDD, both i believe works on this model to https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/572869

  • Did anyone get a screenshot before it sold out.
I need it for 28 Degrees claim thanks

  • Boom, got one. Thanks.

Any deals on 16tb drives coming up?

Ended up getting 2 x 16TB IronWolf Pro NAS at $671.20 (CA and futu_online)

Hoping for lower Amazon prices tomorrow or another flash sale.

    Sold out in 5 minutes

    Available here too for $772.

    • Thanks mate you're a champ, $3 cheaper than the original deal too!

      • They use Fastway couriers. Good luck getting it on time, if you receive it at all.

    • I found the same link at 8:55pm, just in time to grab one

      • Recommendation: Contact the seller immediately, and ask them not to use Fastway couriers. Otherwise, it will be a headache later.

        • Thanks mate, but seller already shipped before I saw your comment, and today I got an update saying it's onboard for delivery today. So I'm pretty happy with this courier

  • Sold out before I checked back in after eight to see if the price held. Alas.

  • Lucky snagged one for the $772, just grabbed 2 10tb WD Reds from the other deal to go in it.

  • Argh check OZB everyday and the day I miss to check there is a flash sale…typical

  • Same item is available for AUD 725 delivered at Amazon US, but not too sure if worth the hassle.

  • Mine is being delivered today, super fast! However the disks I ordered to put in it from Amazon UK are at least a month away lol
