Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus $66,900 + On Roads (Was $73,900 + OR) @ Tesla

6880

Greetings everyone, this was originally posted on the weekend but was removed due to a lack of information, but thought it was best to share again as it's a substantial discount :)

As per the Drive Article:

The price of the Tesla Model 3 has dropped substantially for the Australian market, in line with upgrades to the electric sedan's interior and exterior design and technology features and claimed electric range figures.

The base Standard Range Plus model is now priced from $66,900 before on-road costs – representing a decrease of $7000 on previous pricing – while its quoted range has received a 30km boost, now extending to 490km on a single charge (according to the NEDC test).

The mid-spec Long Range variant has dropped to $83,425 before on-road costs, a price cut of $6000, while its quoted range has climbed to 657km, up from the previous 620km (an increase of 37km).

Finally, the top-of-the-range Performance variant now costs $92,425 before on-road costs, or $5000 less than before, and offers a claimed range of 628km – marking the largest range increase in the line-up with a boost of 68km.

Surprisingly, while prices have decreased, the level of standard equipment on offer has been either upgraded or revised.

All prices listed above exclude on-road costs, but include Tesla's mandatory $150 order fee and $1375 delivery fee.

As always, enjoy :)

Is insurance really expensive for Tesla still? Just for fun I tried to get some quotes and cheapest was Budget Direct and it was still around $3000/yr 6 months ago. My standard car's insurance is around $600/yr.

    • +3

I have the Performance Model 3 (should be the most expensive to insure). Suncorp is about ~$1500/year.

    • I was curious so I did a quick CompareTheMarket quote. 8 declined, 4 agreed: $2869-3317 for a fairly boring scenario (decent suburb, no collisions, etc)

    • increase excess to $2000 and yearly insurance cost will drop :)

    • +2

Oh wow, that's a factor I never really thought about and probably makes a dent in its cost saving, in fact if you are talking the difference between $600 and 3k it probably wipes out any cost saving.

    • +2

I have my Model 3 performance insured with CommInsure for $110/month ($1320pa). I’ve had a few “performance” cars previously and the insurance costs were similar.
Finance via tesla preferred partners is 2.99%.

    • SR+ RACWA $75500 cover, $550 excess = $1188

  • +1

    no C&C?
I want to save $1375 delivery

    • +4

Car is supposed to drive itself

  • Other models not reduced? Was previoiusly looking at the mid tier though I think it's the same price…

    • All cars reduced in price.

$140k for the mid tier (Model S Long Range). Serious bargain. But the Model S Performance in only $161k which is a ridiculous bargain given the performance. It used to cost $320k.

  • How much does the self driving dlc cost?

    • +1

Not worth it right now. But about $10k. Right now you're paying for air.

  • This is because they are now made in China

    https://thedriven.io/2020/09/14/tesla-model-3-for-australia-…

    • +6

Might result in even less panel gaps?

      • +2

I'd say the build quality in China will be far superior than those built in America, if there's any human involvement.

If it's poor design which leads to poor panel gaps, then doesn't matter if they have Swiss craftsmen on the production line.

    • +2

Not yet. But hopefully soon. All Australian Tesla are made in California.

      • Thought this was driven by sourcing from China for Australia, New Zealand and Norway markets, due to lower than expected demand in China, or spare capacity.

        • No

    • +1

Well according to the link you posted, they hiked due to the AUD falling earlier in the year and now that the AUD has rebounded, they are dropping the RRP in line with the exchange rate.

The labor cost reduction from the Shanghai facotry vis a vis the California factory would not be $6k/car.

  • +5

Is there a Unidays or student discount?

    • yes can on both

      • Noicee… Just leaving now to get one!

  • +6

These posts always get so many upvotes for being a joke post it's ridiculous

    • +7

Just because your jokes don’t get upvotes… 😀

      • +2

        🤡

    • +6

its because of OP (probably has fanboys/girls)
same reason some other users on here get upvotes for simply just posting

    • If it's a joke post the mods would have removed it. I've been banned for doing them before. They're pretty serious about it.

  • +1

Seriously how many Ozbargainer will actually buy one now for this price tag?

  • +3

    Grabbed one Panic Buying…

    • The planet and all inhabitants thank you :)

  • Nice, this will go well with all the eneloops I just bought.

    How many does it take?

  • "Tesla Model 3 Standard Range" …is still less than 500km despite the recent upgrade.

    • +2

Yes, but the long range is more? That's why they call it the long range.

      • -4

…and is still pissweak compared to a hybrid and many internal combustion engine vehicles.

        • +15

The Model 3 can put on 200km charge in 5 mins at a V3 supercharger. How long does it take you to have a piss? Melbourne to Sydney is just as fast in a petrol car or a Model 3 these days, because everyone stops for lunch.

          • -4

@[Deactivated]: FACT: Tesla owners spend more time photographing their cars at charging points than they do driving. It would be interesting to see what % of internet traffic from supercharger WIFI access points are uploads to Instagram and Facebook.

            • @[Deactivated]: Someone sounds jealous.

              • @Drogo: No, just trolling. Thanks for playing.

    • +1

      ~300km in reality

      • Don't tell the Tesla sycophants.

        • NEDC is the PMPO of Range measurements. It’s not a Tesla thing. Sooner the real world numbers are common place the better. That said fuel economy figures were also optimistic/unachievable.

  • +4

so many trolls in this thread 😂😂

  • Looking at the interior, I'm not ready to give up driving a car just yet. It literally looks like a taxi with a big screen. No, not yet. Please. Never. I love the idea of EV's and Tesla's, they just looking boring af. Granted they're quick as hell off the line, but it's not a driving experience.

    • +1

      Username checks out lol

    • +9

What are you talking about? It has a steering wheel and pedals, same as every other car.
As for driving experience, the Model 3 handles like a mid-engined sports car (granted the suspension is a little softer). But the centre of gravity is extremely low and balanced right in the middle of the car. Steering is very quick and precise, no heavy engine in the front means it feels surprising agile.

Driving experience is better in every way comparing to a Golf GTI.

      • Besides its a traffic light drag king. By the time Golf has moved into second gear, Tesla would be long gone.

      • +3

After watching this nurburgring lap I'm convinced that model 3 can be a driver car with minor upgrade.

  • Free delivery?

    • +4

Drives itself straight to your address and into your garage.

  • You can buy two Camry’s for this.

    • +14

And they throw in an unnecessary apostrophe for free?

      • -1

No, just a swastika for you.

    • +12

But you'd still be driving a Camry, not only that………two of them

      • yes but maybe I like boring cars and just want to get from A to B.

  • +1

Being around the $80k mark I think we can classify the model 3 as an “investment with high yield” now. /s

  • Buy first beg for permission later.

  • Always high voted but nobody buys

    • +9

How do you know? The first commentator @Rojohe bought 5.

    • +2

      I bought one :)

  • +4

If you can't get enough to buy one, ask scomo and he will print some for you.

Don't worry it is a given. He prints it for hundreds of thousands of others who don't need it too.

    • And then blame it on VIC.

  • +15

It is absolutely ludicrous that we have an LCT when there is no manufacturing in Australia left to protect. They even had the galls to increase it. This country chops down its high earners and rewards their dole bludgers.

    • -1

LCT is more about getting wealthy people to pay tax on goods, due to so many finding dubious methods to decrease the tax they pay on their income. I'm all for it.

      • +13

Exactly what someone who doesn't earn much for a living would say. Earn anything above 6 figures, heck even the higher end of 5 figures, and you'll see it doesn't take much before the system starts chopping down every extra dollar you earn over that.

The proverbial "rich people don't pay anything in tax/claim everything back on tax" argument is stale, inadequate, and comes off the back of the poorly educated. But sure, you are welcome to be in that club.
