YouTube Premium INR ₹129/Month via YouTube India (VPN Required, Single ~$2.48/Month, Family ~$3.64, Student ~$1.52)

5290

Too good a deal not to repost for those unaware you can access YouTube premium at a fraction of the price it normally costs. The stronger exchange rate means even lower monthly rates than last time. Also doweyy suggested in a previous post you can get it even cheaper as a student (certainly worth a shot). Instructions are a direct copy paste from previous deals so kudos to the OPs. Stay safe, and enjoy :)

Google has finally launched YouTube Premium in India for INR 129 and Family Membership for INR 189.
Comes with YouTube Music, No Ads in YouTube as well as Google Play Music.

https://india.googleblog.com/2019/03/introducing-youtube-mus…

Youtube Premium will give you access to -
• Ad-free videos: Watch videos without interruptions.
• Save offline: Save videos and songs on your mobile device to watch offline.
• Background play: Keep videos or music playing when using other apps or when your screen’s off.
• Audio mode: Listen to audio only on the YouTube Music app.
• Google Play Music Subscription (when available in your country) is included at no additional cost.

Current pricing is $14.99 per month in Australia. This workaround should work for new and existing customers.

Again, the trick to making this work is having access to a VPN service. If you're signed up to one, then the rest of the process should be fairly simple.

Instructions -
1. Connect a VPN to the server India (I connected to Bangalore).
2. Click on Paid Memberships (youtube.com), then click on Learn more.
https://www.youtube.com/paid_memberships

Enter Indian address and pay by credit card.
Termination takes place under this link (music.youtube.com)
Example of an address in India:

India
Name: Blank
Address line: My Place
Town/City: Mumbai
Postcode: 400070
State: Maharashtra

    • I had the same issue and it was driving me mad, perhaps try the method that I commented in this thread recently.

  • So I had netflix through argentina for a couple of years now from a deal which was posted on OZB and just noticed my monthly payment increased and the description on my statment changed. it was around $6-7 depending on exchange and latest was $10. and description changed to NETFLIX.COM TRONCOS DEL T ARG.
Did they jack the price? Can I go from ARG to IND?

    • Have a look at the Netflix thread. It is due to change in exchange rate and a tax raised by the ARG government. Better off to choose Turkey or Brazil at this stage.

  • Ah I am still an Argentina to YouTube, individual plan for $2.19 a month.

Any idea about payment being declined?
I tried to sign up using my aus debit and it says unexpected error occurred. Please try again later or enter new card details.

    • I'm getting same problem

    • It works for me with qantas money card

  • Anyone know how to change to a specific server on NordVPN on iOS?

  • I have had this for a year and it works amazingly, such a bargain! Hardly any effort to sign up and then after that it’s just like regular YouTube

  • +3

Outstanding deal… "69 Pappadum St Mumbai"
    worked a treat 👍

    • Did you use that as your credit card address?

      And it worked?

      • I just put it as the address it asked for… yeah, I guess it was the cc one.

    • hey man thanks! Worked like a treat!

  • anyone want to add me as family for a one off payment?

  • Quick question: Reading through all the comments of the last deal and this one, it sounds like a family members payments profile also has to have India set as the country/region under their account. Is that correct?

    • Yeah, make a new payment profile.
      Don’t need VPN for that.
I had to delete all other ones though.

  • I'm getting ₹169 for individuals, not ₹129, anyone else?

  • +27

I had so many issues with adding family members after doing this and kept getting the dreaded 'Looks like you're in a different country than the family manager.' error.

I finally got it working doing the following steps from hotukdeals and didn't have to ruin any existing accounts, remove payment methods, etc.

    1. Connect to an Indian VPN (I used a free trial of Windscribe using the chat bot trick mentioned earlier)
    2. Make a new Indian account on gmail.com using an Indian billing address. You'll need a real ph # to receive a code via SMS, an Australian number works fine.
    3. Register for a YT premium family membership at youtube.com/paid_memberships

Important: Do not create a family or invite people when prompted! Just dismiss these boxes for now.

    1. Disconnect from the Indian VPN
    2. Go to pay.google.com > settings > find your current Country/Region > try to edit it and then when prompted click 'Create new profile.'
    3. Fill in details with an Australian address. When this is done you will have two payment profiles, one Indian and one Australian.

The next key step I used an Android phone for, it may work on iPhone too but I am not sure. The new account still needs to have its Google Play Store region set to AU, and there does not seem to be a way to do this using a web browser.

    1. Open the Google Play Store App and login to this new account
    2. Click the 3 dots at the top left to get to settings > account > scroll down to 'Country and profiles'
    3. There should be an option to change to the Australia Play store. Do this. Note: This can only be done once a year.
    4. Fill in Paypal or card details for your AU account side of this new account. It won't be the thing Youtube charges the premium subscription to.

Now that your AU side of the profile is set up you can start sharing premium to other people.

    1. While logged into the new Indian account, go to families.google.com
    2. Invite any AU google account to join. You won't need to use a VPN to send invites or to join, because the family will be considered Australian.

    That should be it!

    • Thanks!

    • Tried this it won't accept go past setting up the Youtube Premium family trial

Tried two different VISA cards same error.

    • +1

mad! I got it working.. ugh.. had to delete the family group to get Australia to come up… as I already had created a family before i read your thread! Thanks for the write up!

    • @camsmith12

I wish I had figured this 10 months ago when I signed my whole family up to this. I had to delete their payment profiles and creat Indian profile for each of them. That messed up the Google Play accounts for the whole family and now they can't install any Australian apps! To add to this mix I also signed up for Google One for the family and now that all my family members are using it to a great extent I can't simply dissolve the family group without each one of them sorting out their storage first.

Might wait another couple of months before trying to set Play Store regions back to Australia.

    • Thanks! This worked.

For the VPN, I used SurfShark… Download app on mobile gets you 7 day free trial (have to subscribe to 12 month plan), but once you've completed the steps just cancel the subscription from Google Play Store.

From the steps above, I found that the Google Play Store already had the country/region as Australia (and this was the only option there).

Make sure if you are a manager of one family already you go and remove yourself from that first before trying to join the other one. :)

    • Anyone know how to do the Google Play Store App steps if you don't have an Android device, and cannot run an Android emulator?

There is no Google Play Store App for iOS :(

    • Legend, worked for me

    • +1

There is no option to change my country in 'country and profiles' . There is a green tick against India. There is no active link or button to change it. I am logged into google play store using my indian account.

Open the Google Play Store App and login to this new account
Click the 3 dots at the top left to get to settings > account > scroll down to 'Country and profiles'
There should be an option to change to the Australia Play store. Do this. Note: This can only be done once a year.

      • Not sure why that is happening unfortunately.

Is this a new Indian account? Or an existing one?

Also is the VPN off so that the Google Play Store can see that you aren't in India anymore?

      • @dodgyd yeah i'm having the same issue please give an update if you work out a way past this problem, I will too if i work out how to fix it

    • +1

got it to work. Thanks for your help!!

    • +1

Thanks! This worked for me using NordVPN server India #63. Payment error was resolved using a proper address: https://www.fakeaddressgenerator.com/World_more/India_addres…

    • +1

Thank you soo soo much, worked a treat :)

    • you're a godsend. Thanks!

    • This worked perfectly! Thanks a lot! I went with Argentina as it was a little cheaper for the family plan (~$3.10/month).

    • Thank you very much. I had similar issues but I managed to workaround it.

For other having issues from a new account like I did, i'll add a few couple of steps first.

Do not start the above steps UNTIL you do this:

      • no VPN
      • create a new account so now your account will be Australian.
      • go to Play Store on Android (BlueStacks) and add a Payment Method. Your Play Store profile is now Australian.

Now follow the steps above using VPN. As above, skip the part about inviting. You can go to pay.google.com and you'll find that you won't have to add the Australian profile anymore it is already there.

Out of the VPN you can go back to Play Store App. Now for some reason, You will now have the option to switch back to Australia play store.

You may now proceed to add all your Aussie family members.

      Hope this helps someone =)

    • Can confirm camsmith’s method works as of 2 days ago, with some slight variations:
At step 3. Subscribe to YT premium family, you need to enter a cc number here, i used my australian cc.
At second step 3: This actually just changed my profile from India to Australia (didn’t have 2 profiles) therefore the next section of steps (1 - 4) weren’t necessary for me.

Then I just followed the final 2 steps and added an AU family member. Happy days

    • Thank you, I did Argentina and this worked. I used Dashlane VPN (Argentina) which worked a treat :)

Only thing I skipped in part 2 was step 2 and step 3 (creating profile on pay.google.com - I didn't do this). After disconnecting to VPN I went straight to my bluestacks app (do not own an Android phone) and changed the store to Australia and added billing details there.

  • Can someone tell me why I need this instead of youtube vanced?

  • +1

Keep getting an error when trying to add a payment method.

I have no other payment methods….

Request failed. Something went wrong. Visit Learn more for more about how to
check your payment method information or add a new payment method to your
    Google Account. [OR-CCSEH-05]

I am on a VPN to Bangalore.
I am using my existing Google account.

    • I get exactly same problem. Can anyone help?

      • Try what @@camsmith12 is recommending above.

        • Tried a brand new account, same error.

Tried two different VISA's, same error.

          • @klif-e: From some previous threads it is could be a VPN issue where Google is still seeing your real location. Disable location services if on mobile and try the Hola extension on Chrome if you're on a PC.

            • @camsmith12: Running in Chrome on a Mac.

Running a VPN to India and also running Hola set to India and youtube won't even load.

              • @klif-e: Ahh I am not very familiar with VPNs on Mac so hopefully someone else has some helpful info for you. If you have a mobile handy you could try doing this using a free app trial of something like NordVPN and running it all through there?

                • @camsmith12: I know the GetFlix VPN is working as I see Indian content in youtube and my IP shows up with India.

Suspect they don't like my credit cards…

                  • +1

@klif-e: No it was the bogus address from the 1st post it didn't like…

Put in the address of a residential block in Mumbai and it worked.

    • Qantas money card works for me.
Btw try to create new account with mumbai address and then use your card.

      • Tried that no luck with an ING Visa and Bank of Melbourne Visa

      • I used it too!

  • Never used Youtube Music, does it have a music/playlist recommendation like Spotify Weekly?

    • Never used Sportify but yes TYM has recommendation and top charts.

  • Hi. Will using the login of someone who is in India work here in Oz please? I could ask a relative to subscribe for me and pay for it there and get the login credentials (or i give them my newly created gmail just for this) ? Many Thx

    • In theory, should work fine. For all those who are going this route, VPN is just required during sign-up/setting up payment method stage. Once successfully done, you dont necessarily need to be behind a VPN to make use of YT Premium.

  • Thank you OP! My trial has just expired.

  • I signed up for the single option ages ago. I have tried to upgrade to the family one but it's not giving me the option to do so. Any idea why?

  • Did not work with NordVPN server 63. Kept having card errors even with ANZ debit. Decided to use Argentina instead and it worked. Used ANZ debit card (only card that worked for me) for family plan. Cheaper too. No weird suggestions or anything.

  • can someone please add me on their family account? I'll PayPal you $2/mth :)

  • Is the payment in rupees? I.e. do I need to use a card with no currency conversion transaction fees?

    • +1

Yes it is in rupees. Best to use a card with no currency conversion fees.

    • Yes rupees. Payment deducted in AUD equivalent together with international currency conversion fee (varies with bank and account type usually around $0.10)

  • +1

NordVPN didn't work for me in India so i used Argentina as well

    • Did you get prices in AED and it thought you were in the United Arab Emirates?

      • Yep I got AED. Apprently server 63 works though so you can give that a try if you want to pay in rupee

    • Good going! You stand to pay even less than what you would had you setup YT premium via Indian server.

  • +2

Can someone explain the steps please , clearly.
    1. Get a vpn , free or otherwise
    2. Connect your computer to india over vpn
    3. Create a new gmail acoount with indian address
    4. Login into youtube in india
    5. Signup to family plan.
    6. Enter payment details and indian address
    7. Send family sharing invitations to your aussie email addressees.
    8. Login to your aussie email account, and accept the invitation.
< This is where it fails and the invitation responds "it looks like you are in a different country to.the family manager" >
Someone please explain how to fix this so recipients can accept the invites using their aussie email accounts and use premium.

I even tried accepting the invite by logging into my aussie gmail whilst connected to india over vpn, and it still said the same thing.

    Thanks a lot.

Might be worth trying my comment on page 3, I had the same issue

  • lol why do I get the feeling that ozbargaining this will make Google do something to block this.

    • Google already knows. Little old OzBargain won't be a deciding factor on what they decide to do.

  • One word. Vanced.

    • PITA to setup these days.

      • Not really, but doesn't work on Android TVs and doesn't include YT Kids. Other than that, yeah, I still prefer Vanced over YT+ on the phone (better controls).

        • But when you update all your apps and you update youtube it overwrites vanced and you have to reinstall. No way to exclude youtube from your updates unless you manually stop it before it updates

          • @toobzy: Doesn't happen to me. And I've updated YT numerous times. I'm on a Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 with MIUI 11.

  • PIA India and Aus ING card worked fine for me, but I did use a random hotel address way out of the way in rural India instead of the example listed.

Worked, used my free uni course THANKS OZBARGAIN and signed up as a student THANKS OZBARGAIN. SheerID took about 5 mins. Said I could have to wait 48 hrs but didn't.

Used my up! card that cost me -$5 THANKS OZBARGAIN

and now I can listen to music on my free Google Home Mini THANKS OZBARGAIN

    • The free uni course expired… I really need one so I can get a student email.

      • That is some committment. Would you actually do the course?

        • +1

          Probably not

  • TIL:

Didn’t know people actually paid for YouTube.

    • They have no content worth paying for since they dumped Cobra Kai to go full on reality tv.

  • can i do this on my existing youtube/gmail account? or do i need a fresh one?
    thanks

  • So will it keep billing it from the indian price every year or will it take the australian price after a month?

    • Every month you'll get debited the indian rupee price, so you'll pay the AUD equivalent and potentially an international conversion fee.

  • Thanks my best friend. Bought it. Got 1 month free trial then INR 189/- PM. Beauty, I have added 4 Ozzie family members and 1 Kiwi member. Total of 6 members including myself. Worked like a charm. Used Surfshark VPN. It did not worked on Mumbai location, but worked on Chennai location. Thanks once again.

  • Hi is anyone having trouble adding on CBA MasterCard or Debit card?

It keeps on error out on me….

    • Have you got it locked for international transactions? In the cba app you can temporarily unlock it.

  • Anybody help please?
I connected to india Mumbai or Chennai using nordvpn…(only these two cities)
And when I go to you tube premium sign up page in app…it's showing currency as AED $22.99

    • open incognito and also change your country setting.
      i had same problem.

  • Sorry correction…it's AED13.99 per month
    I am confused

    • Try changing your VPN location to a different Indian region and then refresh the page.
