Worldwide Travel Insurance for a Year - $299 from Webjet

90

25% saving on Yearly Multi Trip Insurance, $299. This is a pretty good deal with unlimited overseas and domestic travel insurance for a year. Considering just a single trip can cost you upwards of $200 from others. Looks like this is backed by Allianz.

    $194 when I selected 1/1/2012 to 31/12/2012 annual multi trip on covermore.com.au
not saying covermore is better, just sayin' that I suggest shopping around and check $299 offers a better deal than elsewhere.

  • i just pay with my credit card and get free travel insurance…

    • Same here, but sometimes other people (such as my consulting clients) pay for my travel so I need to take out travel insurance separately…

    • Yep, me to.
using Visa CC, also includes "Medivac" which often others dont.

    Caveat:

The maximum period for any one journey is 37 days for leisure travel or 90 days for business travel.

So you couldn't cover an unbroken 6 week backpacking trip around Europe for example.

    • Yup in those cases you get top up cover - Usually covermore is cheap for that.

  • No mental health coverage, great…

They'd be crazy to cover you for that. :)

      • So what happens if you get a panic attack overseas? Anxiety? Good luck to you!

  • I prefer a Platinum Reserve AMEX that's $295/year and includes a free flight within Australia or NZ. As long as the flights are paid for using the AMEX, you get free travel insurance.

    Just my 2c.

I've got the ANZ rewards platinum AMEX and get the same free travel insurance for $150 a year. Also earn rewards points which I have auto sending me $100 myer vouchers.

In under a year I've had to use the travel insurance due to ash cloud, got all my money back and the difference in accomodation costs as my flights were moved to peak ski season and $300 worth of Myer vouchers and not paid cent of interest.

Can hardly believe that in a way I'm profiting from a credit card…

      • Don't worry, they crawl all that back by profiting from dismal exchange rates and high fees from foreign transactions.

        • ah true, but then you crack out the 28 degrees card!

Allianz cover (which most places offer) is over priced. Covermore or Southern Cross Insurance is cheaper (and generally more comphrensive than CC versions).

For $40 I always get insurance for a trip over relying on CC coverage.

    • Same observations here re price. Also one further point. Allianz are a PITA to deal with for claims. Covermore is not. That's personal experience talking as well as that of family who needed to make the same claim on the same trip.
