Tidal Music Streaming - Free 6 Months Hifi Plan for New US User (VPN Required)

3801

Came across this post from Reddit and I thought it is fantastic to share here. This is for Tidal Hifi plan which normally cost $23.99/month in Australia.

Full credit to Benzz1725

" Voucher code https://offer.tidal.com/voucher?code=WL25BAEN6X Must be from the usa to use this code, just use a vpn if you not from here.

Use your card you wont get charged until the trail ends, or you can use this bin 40606840xxxxxxxx and generate the cards via the website namso gen, zip code 10080"

I used free Hola VPN and a fake credit card generated as per instruction above. Work perfectly.

Cheers.

      • What's everyone doing after 6 months..
May have to set it up as well, us probably have a bit better library than Argentina

        • Edit: assume existing users need to use a new email?

  • Worked using namso. Thanks OP!

    Legendary Post

  • great offer but take care with Tidal - be sure to screen shot when you cancel or you may find yourself continuing to pay month after month as Tidal goes under the radar (no emails etc) but keeps hitting your card, with very little chance of getting your money back. From discussion above, however, seems this may not be a problem for this offer anyway.

Thanks Op - Worked a treat when signing up.

Can anyone suggest a small and portable DAC to use with an iPhone?

    • Dragonfly red or cobalt. Or the very good ifi hip dac

      • Thanks for the suggestions. I will do some research.

        • +1

I had the dragonfly cobalt for nearly a year and it's really good for the small usb dac that it is. It's also really great on the go. I sold it to get an ifi hip dac mainly as I'm working from home mostly so portability is not a concern. The hip dac has got burr Brown chip in and its a relaxed sound signature and is also cheaper

          • @Raj09: Thanks Raj09 - Anything you can recommend in a similar price point as non portable solution. Something that would be left plugged into a Hifi ?

            • @twitch1979: Try the ifi zen dac. That's the desktop version which I use. It's great dude. Tremendous value for the price.

There's also schitt which does good value at this price. But I'm not sure if what connectivity you are looking for and if they have it. Do some research. There's schitt, topping, fiio as well.

              • @Raj09: Can second this, I got the ifi zen dac after a fair bit of research. It looks a bit retro but very good bit of kit for the price, paid $199 delivered end of June last year from Addicted to Audio (turned up the next day). May be slightly more now but makes the old 9v portable amps very average for more than $200 back in the day.

                • @G-rig: Yep. Easily the ifi zen dac is recommended for audiophiles out there. I had the dragonfly cobalt before that and that usb dac cost more than the ifi zen dac.

I much prefer the ifi zen dac for sure. Bought from addicted to audio as well πŸ‘πŸΎπŸ˜Š

Anyone knows whether the fake credit card will work on sites which have movies about poor people who cannot afford clothes? 😏. Asking for research purpose

    • +1

For a trial that doesn’t require a payment or authorisation, yeah, like if they charge $1 it’s not gonna work

      • Hahaha. The things you learn. Thank you πŸ˜‚

    • Borat?

  • Cheers OP perfect to integrate this with Serato DJ software, Thank you. Really dig that there's video clips on this. I've been meaning to move from Spotify.

    Thanks.

Used HOXX VPN for Firefox for free.

    Used https://namso-gen.com/

    Thanks all.

    Post of the year

    • Yep. I would vote gladly for this

  • Can please explain if a VPN must be continually used with the PC Desktop client in order to stream Master Quality Audio? I have this selected but only HiFi Lossless lights up green despite having no green tick?

    • +1

The VPN should have no bearing on the quality settings of the Tidal app. If the VPN is slow then this will definitely affect the streaming quality for Master quality songs as they stream in a very high bitrate. Not all songs are available in Master quality and when they are a small orange M symbol will be displayed.

    • +1

No. You use the VPN only for signup

    • Is this for an iFi?

Check you have the downloaded USB windows drivers from their site, and keep in mind it only works with the desktop utility (i think, not casting or webpage)
You also have to adjust some audio quality settings:
Next to the vol slider, select the output device:
      - Next to it click on More settings
      - Turn exclusive mode on
      - Passthrough MQA off.

    • Yep and it also depends on the track. Look for the master label.

  • Fake card gen doesn't seem to be working for me, any others?

    • I couldn't get the fake card generator to work on anything. Ended up using my Velocity prepaid card that expires this month and it worked no problems.
Sounds great after using the very disappointing YouTube Music for 3 months - couldn't wait for that trial to end.

  • Is the free version of Hola VPN okay? Sounds dodgy as.

    • No dodgier than fake credit cards wtf

      • I have no problem using a fake number, but I do have a problem letting someone run malware on my pc, or use my ip address to do whatever they don't want to do from thier own.

But it's getting stamp of approval rather than "don't go near it" so I'll give it a go

    • +1

      The free version works well

    • You could always do a free trial, lots of VPN companies do it.

      Example - https://nordvpn.com/risk-free-vpn/

      • Cashrewards often has 90% cashback on NordVPN 3y plans with a month free (got $165 cash back, forget how much it was but in the end pretty cheap). Handy to have.

Edit: couldn't help myself in the end doing the 6 month trial instead. Worked first time.
Few spanish suggestions on the Argentina one lol but will have to start again in 6 months.
At least can go back to my old account after and have activated Family.

    • I used hoxx VPN on Firefox. No sign up and can select USA. Deleted after I made my Tidal account

  • is it worth cancelling straight away or just set a reminder, as long as the trial keeps going..

    • You can cancel straight away you still get 6 months

      • May as well I guess in case they ban all The accounts with a fake card.
Getting through the Gmail period addresses quickly..

      • done, signed up to family, probably won't be able to distribute these if cancelled btw.
no one else can really be bothered anyway ha

        • Does amazon do lossless in Australia yet?

          • @Raj09: Not sure don't need too many subscriptions. Get free music with Prime but it's fairly watered down (2 million songs) vs Unlimited (70 million) but the UI is even worse than Tidal, haha.
Let you check it out.. https://music.amazon.com/

Tidal is fantasic sound quality though. Those who cancel can't invite family members, so not sure why i did but as long as I got it is all that matters ;)

            • @G-rig: All good. I was just curious. I wish that Spotify will have lossless. They have a great interface and would be happy to pay for lossless with them. I already have my subscription with them. With the free tidal over 6 months, Spotify will not have my love for a while 😊

              • @Raj09: True, i've never used it but a lot of the population would i think.
Spotify would be good for portable and convenience listening, I've never made playlists but sure people do. The auto ones are good enough for me.

Tidal is great for a high SQ Headphone/speaker setup and when I'm at home. The radio feature seems fine that generates a playlist of similar artists. Google Play was awesome at that, so many never even heard of at times.

              • @Raj09: wow MQA never ceases to amaze mate - stuff you never hear in the clubs.
                White Town - Your Woman

  • I'm from a prior generation when we stored our own music, movies etc. (When you tied up your phone line while on internet, you weren't going to stream the same song more than once.) Is it possible to download your Tidal songs, or is it a streaming-only service?
(So I'll still have my music in 6 months coz I don't do subscriptions.)

    • Literally millions of songs, CD quality or better, available for you to own perpetually for free? Does that really seem feasible to you?

      • It's only free for 6 months. I wasn't given enough time to built a super processor to download the entire site.

Like I said, I buy to keep. Sorry I wasted my time setting an account setup.
Last thing I want to do is get used to something that is going to be taken from me in 6 months.

I got burned with heaps of cloud storage, from Samsung I think, with a new phone. After a time "pay up or get your data off our servers". At least that was my data. With streaming services it's "enjoy your memories, now you have nothing".

        But thanks, question answered.

    • You should have ripped your cd collection to flac then in that case?
I spent more than my fair share on cds back in the day, most were $30 a pop.

      • I don't know how it will hold up in court, but I'm only replacing the same music I've paid for, in the new format they've released.I've never seen an upgrade cost published, so I assume it's free.

        • Mate the download feature in Tidal would be for offline use, while you have an active subscription.. not to keep forever

    • Tidal allows you to download your songs/albums with an offline only option, however this will be removed at the completion of the 6 months unfortunately.

  • Just tried the 360 Audio feature on Tidal and Sony M3 headphones, very sweet especially Dave Brubeck Take 5.

In fact since starting Tidal I not taken off my M3's!!

    • Only sony right?

    • ps. you'd like Chick Corea Acoustic Band, and look up Avishai Cohen Trio :)
Not many on the US tidal

  • Worked with Windscribe and the CC generator.

As said by chadiwrx, You can upgrade to the family plan and add 5 members to your account for free too. https://i.imgur.com/pYYiP8c.jpg

    Woohoo!

Note: You cannot add a family member you have already added if you started a trial as Australian users. Need a new email and it worked OK.

  • Thanks, OP. Does anyone know when the offer is going to expire? My mate is still trying to work it out haha

  • +1

Wish Tidal had Google Home support. I assumed it did, signed up, and then couldn't play it directly (there are workarounds like casting, but they suck). If it helps anyone else, the Supported music services of Google Home are: YouTube Music, Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio, Deezer, Google Podcasts, and TuneIn.

    • thanks. Are they all streaming services? I just want an app to play my own music. I've only used google play for years, now I'm lost.

I thought I could do locally by getting vlc player to cast to google home - it will render movies to chromecast, but will only do music localled :(

    • They do , you need to get a Chromecast Audio, it's brilliant.. can voice control ..
Not the latest mainstream tech and hard to find now. Wish i bought two. have a seach there are one or two other devices that may work.

btw. seems like a black heavy influence on this Chicago based signup haha.

      • But that's just casting. Except instead of video, it's just the audio stream. You still need a phone/computer to start it & control it & stop it.

To me, streaming music services and voice activated smart speakers are two products that dovetail brilliantly, so you can play whatever you like from a huge catalog using just voice. And with an extension cable I can & do move a smart speaker where I want, including outside. Not many people are regularly going to unplug their home stereo and move it outside, with the Chromecast audio.

Also, google themselves killed Chromecast audio, so it's a dead product. It works now, but how much longer will it keep working?

Finally, who even wants a home stereo any more? Taking up space, gathering dust, with players for obsolete tech (cassettes, CDs - all obsolete, and it's quite arguable that radio is obsolete too). It's pure clutter. Got rid of my stereo 10 years ago and never looked back. Same with my DVD player and VHS player, for the same reasons.

        • I'm not sure how you're meant to listen to or control any digital media without a phone or PC etc, in short of listening to hard media.

The chromecast audio is the best sounding system, 10x better than bluetooth. lossless over wifi and can queues up / caches your playlist etc so can even reboot/turn off your device, you can be on the phone, no obtrusive interruptions and systems sounds like bluetooth.

You shouldn't have to cast video and/or have your display on if you only want to listen to music, in fact I can cast two things at once with this setup, and audio & video stream. I can seem to cast videos sound (youtube) to the cca as well even thought it's not meant to work.

Lets hope they still support it. Got mine for $30 right at the end when they were hard to find, I should have bought the last two!!

I've still got a big flac library but too hard to cast foobar except for plex and that's not the best. days of setting up NAS are like in the 90s.. Tidal is a great solution anyway.

  • +1

I think this has expired now… or is it just me?

    • I think so too

  • still a bit rubbish how you hit play on an artist or something and it stops after one song.
also disconnects cast.. hmm. Can't really complain. I've checked the setting it's just a bit odd how it's configured. ie, hit maximize and there's a suggested tracks list on the right, you'd assume it's an auto playlist but isn't.
