Anyone know how long you have to activate? Still got 2 months to go on Kogan.

    • I think it depends on the expiry date on back of the sim afaik

I need to give a disclaimer. Apparently the call center for Boost Mobile has been closed down for sometime now (2 months?). I have been trying to call them for 2 Weeks but there's no answer, redirects to their automated services. Tried doing the Online Chat, but that also stops the session.

So might be wiser to avoid Boost…?
Not sure what's going on there, friend from Telstra is also unsure. I will go to a physical Telstra Store to sort out my recharge problems. Again, be warned.

        • It looks like boost got bought out recently and are getting merged into a bigger company in America. Wonder if it's related.

    • Same, still got 3 months on my TPG 6 month half price discount. There will probably be a similar deal to this again in that time.

  • New customers or can be used to recharged? Any idea around expiry?

We need a posting guideline for Boost kits - "cannot be used for recharge" :)

Some ideas for port out -> back in

    • I've recharged using one. Contacted Boost, they had me take a photo of the SIM and send it to an email address. Took about an hour waiting for responses from online chat. Credit came through instantly once chat confirmed transfer. Did this about 3-4 weeks ago.

      • I just found this was the case and couldn't recharge- I'm starting that online message process… not fun while juggling work. Definitely agree, there needs to be a NOT FOR RECHARGE disclaimer on these posts. Didn't have an issue with the other recharge last year so didn't expect this at all.

        • I just did another one 2 days ago and they insisted on transferring the number to the new SIM. I told them that I'd had the credit transferred 3 weeks earlier for my wife. He said he needed to ask for approval and 10 minutes later I had the credit on my current SIM (no photo needed this time). Process took an hour of waiting for initial response, and then another 20 minutes of back-and-forth.

Edit: forgot to add that this time I used a SIM from eBay for $239.99 plus $4.99 postage, so cheaper than this deal. Previously had used one directly from Boost.

  • any deal for the $150 prepaid? thanks

there are many from time to time for $130-$135

      Pretty sure that’s finished now

  • How do you get the free afl / nrl streaming? Can't find anything on the Boost website.

  • Would like also to know if this is recharge or new sim kit

    • it is a Kit, you will need to port out if you are an existing customer

      • Damn I'll be needing a recharge soon like February soon.

        • there will be heaps of deals by then:)

@777: Thanks for the very nice reassurance this should keep my heart stable until then.

My recharge for Boost is 11 Feb 2021 hopefully I find a cheaper 240gb recharge before then.

Can't use the 80gb it is too small for me.

Ideally something between 120gb to 150gb is ideal for me just for emergency scenarios but I think I am on target to hit between 100gb to 110gb this 12 month cycle.

Still got 166gb remaining atm with only 3 months to go.

BOOST is part of telstra network so you can sign up as a "telstra customer". There's a couple of threads on OzB already. Just do a quick search.

Same price at cellmate. Probably matched price to stop price beat

  • I'm with Boost, can't recommend.

Thinking of jumping ship to Kogan in 10 days when mine expires.

Going from Telstra to Vodaphone huh good luck.

If those don't work your last hope is joining something on the Optus network.

  • @brokentissue….what issues have you had with Boost? The mobile service or customer service?

    @Dodgyd and @AlienC

Not sure what is wrong with Boost's network but I'm not an isolated case,

I've been with Kogan before I can say that within Melbourne Metro, it works flawlessly which I can't say the same with Boost. For example, every single day I drive on Monash FWY (M1 - Melbourne), for at least 10 of my 24km commute I have no signal. And I'm not the only one.

Do you realise that most of those Boost links are for the Boost Mobile USA?? Boost USA and Australia are two different beasts my friend.

Travelled to Exmouth Western Australia with a group of family members on Boost Mobile. I was the only one with signal due to it being on Telstra. If you are travelling outside of major cities, there really is only one choice and it is Boost/Telstra. Boost gets the most use of Telstra's network out of any MVNO provider.

their customer support is terrible, no phone support. only online chat, and sometimes wait hours before you can talk to anyone.

    • they used to have phone support, but i think covid messed with telstra's call centres overseas
