  • Welp I used my Dell coupon too early then

    • Dell coupons work on feeBay?

      • No they don't.

  • Is anyone running one of these at 1080p and does it look ok? My laptop doesn’t support 4K out but may do 1440 I think but guessing that may look a bit weird non native?

    • Time to get this and upgrade your laptop ;)

      • That would be the longer term plan yes.

    • 1080p will work perfectly on a 4K monitor.

      • +1

Probably look better at 1080p vs 1440 on a 4K screen due to the pixel ratio?

        • Yes 1080p x 4 = 4K. So each pixel in a 1080p setting will become a 2x2 array on a 4K monitor

In layman terms, 4 pixels in a 4K monitor will display 1 pixel from a 1080p signal.

          • @trev likes bargains: 1080p on 4K is generally pretty good, but still not as sharp as a 27 inch 1080p display.
1440p on this screen - it is best to avoid, it does a reasonable interpolation job, but it is still interpolation after all. Most people would use 4K with display scaling (150%) to achieve roughly 1440p look and the display scaling can make texts look smoother than on a 1440p display.

  • How many of these can be bought at once at this price?

    • I believe 10

      • @LiMaaa is there any chance of restricting that number to say 2 for the DGF?

        • +1

I'll talk to the ebay team to see if possible, but I don't think so.

  • Hi Op, may I ask what's the diffence between S2721Q and S2721D (the one for $219)? Thanks

    • Your best off comparing specs. This is a UHD 4K Monitor and the s2721d is a QHD 2K monitor. So the main difference is the native resolution.

      • Is there another deal on the S2721D ? I didn't see it. I'd like to get another one

  • hmm, hard to choose, Q or QS

    • Ask a stranger which sounds cooler, then do that. Haha

    • Monitor arm or not.

    • The difference is the adjusted height stand. You can get that in a monitor arm. The cheapest quality arm is 44 dollars, or 39 dollars when it's discounted.

Clamped monitor arm provides more desk space than monitor stand.

    • I got the Q, the stand with zero height adjustability is crap. Spend the extra $$ and get the QS. :)

  • What is its HDR rating?

    • +1

HDR400 - (gimmick). That said, on the firmware side, it does manage to trick the source reasonably well. You kind of see flashes of HDR at times, but it is fake HDR after all.

      • I have got lg 27ul600-w which is 4k. I used with ps4 pro. It's good. Just want to compare it with this.

        • LG is the panel maker for this Dell monitor. This monitor has built in speakers (cheapo quality though). QS has VESA stand.

Personally, I prefer the joystick control on LG, though the buttons on this monitor are not too bad. Both models have slight default setting quirks. LG - you need to enable Ultra HD Deep Colour (from memory) on HDMI ports. This Dell, HDR, by default is turned off.

Roughly the same panel inside (or could actually be the same panel inside).

  • I bough S2721Q for $331 just a month ago. :D now $62 or 18% cheaper.

    • curious, are you happy with this monitor?

      • +1

I have the QS version. Overall, I am happy with it. Mind you, it is more for media consumption and entertainment use. I don't use it for serious work (as some apps I use still don't work well enough with display scaling). For work, I still use 27 inch 1440p monitors.

Essentially, it is a dirt cheap way to get a 4K display with fake HDR. The included cheap speakers are handy at times.

      • +2

Yes. I use that as coding monitor. Portrait mode. Nothing to complain. But, I like my 2014 apple display more.

  • +1

I've got the Dell U2719D (2k) and it's great! Just curious, is it worth selling this and getting the S2721QS? It's mainly used for office work and watching movies/shows. This is also tax deductible next year, which is a plus. Thanks.

    • +1

They are different class of monitors. U series is designed more for work purposes. You get USB hub with U2719D. If you have the latest version of Office, latest browsers and apps, you might prefer 4K with 150% display scaling over 2K.

It isn't very easy to spot the difference between 4K and 2K on a 27 inch for movies / shows. One issue is that you generally don't stare at a TV to look for differences when watching movies / shows and another one is quite a lot of shows/movies are still not true 4K yet. While I have a small number of UHD blu-ray discs, only one has sections which are based on 4K source materials. Most of them are upscaled to 4K. Even with the so called next gen gaming, we are seeing quite a few games which are dynamic 4K resolution. When using it for entertainment, you are mostly relaxing, rather than playing spot the extra pixels.

      Price is really tempting though.

      • Very tempted to pull the trigger haha.

Been holding out for a 4k usb-c monitor, anything coming for black friday?

  • Oh 7pm Sydney time!

  • So this goes up in an hour right? I've been refreshing and nothing has popped up

  • Anyone else fail like I did and read the 6pm AEST?

    • ^^ looks like it vv

    • Well, last time they popped the deal at the wrong hour due to time zone mixup.

  • oh its AEST. That's QLD time.

  • -2

its still showing out of stock. have been refreshing since 5:50ish :) did anyone manage to grab this deal?

    • AEST time, you are in AEDT (daylight savings).

      • ye just noticed that my bad :). thanks for correcting me.
also curious to know if the difference in 60 vs 75 (S2721DS) frequency noticeable in general? i don't intend to use this for high end gaming but just wondering if it would be noticeable difference or not. otherwise looks like a really good deal. mostly will go for it (at least try my luck this time).

  • I don't have a lot of knowledge with monitors but I want to buy 4 of them for a trading and somewhat gaming set up? Should I buy 4 Q since reading the comments they can attach to a vesa mount? I need advice thanks

    • +1

If you're going to use vesa then Q is your option as it's the same as QS aside from stand.

  • @liMaaa did you learn from the last deal and set a cap for max number of units? Would hate to see people snatching these up by the 10s.

    • We learned long ago but ebay limits our ability to set caps. 2 voucher uses per account.

  • -2

Do i miss something? its 6:09 PM in Sydney and the item is still saying out of stock???

    • +2

7pm for melb and Sydney, aest / aedt differences.

      • Nvm

  • would anyone recommend this for me or my bf? I would mainly be using it for adobe programs, genshin, movies, and he plays dota and wow. On principle I don't want fork out $500 for just a monitor haha (that S2721DGF), would rather spend on better graphics card or other parts etc.

Probably a bit too late to ask and would rather not make a rushed purchase, but if it's really good I will bite……??

    • I wouldn't use this as a primary gaming monitor. For media or productivity it's good though.

    • Honestly depends if you need that high refresh/can tell the difference between 60 and 144hz in dota. The 4K can be handy with Adobe programs and probably better for media consumption. So really depends on what you value more.

  • Will this pair well with my S2721DGF? planning to use this as my second monitor since I missed out on the S2721D sale

    • +1

And I know the deal is in 2 minutes so here's hoping I can score one lol

      • i have the same S2721DGF. and now just scored a S2721QS

        • +1

I just got the S2721Q. I hope it pairs well with my S2721DGF :)

      • +1

I think the deal is on the 27th (Black Friday) if I'm reading correctly? So a week from now?

        • You read well.

          • +1

@LiMaaa: Haha - you say that, but I only 'thunk it' because I'd been furiously hitting F5 from 6:59, and came here at 7:04 to check if I had the date wrong ;-)

Got 3 Q - anyone know a stand that can take 3 of em?

  • +1

Got two of the QS models !! Thanks OP

Anyone know of cheap stands for 2 monitors? Dell one is expensive AF

    • North bayou h80 or f80 is what I use.

      • Thanks for the recommendation, LiMaa !

      • Hi LiMaaa. Firstly, superb work you're doing here. Just wanted to ask you a question regarding the stands you mentioned. Am I better off buying 2 separate monitor stands rather than a 2 in 1 stand such as the F160?

        • +1

I did exactly that so I can position them with more versatility. I tried the S2721D and S2721DGF on one mount and the D sat 1 cm lower. Separate stands solved this.

  • +1

    Got one QS. Thanks !!

  • +1

    Got one too! :-)

  • +1

Nabbed 2 to replace my aging 23" monitor from 2010.
    Thanks OP!
