No, ETA is Jan 5 2022.
      Kidding…

According to OP, you should get yours before Dec 20, 2020.

      • Don't hurt me <3

    • If you don't get it before 20th Dec I give you permission to toilet paper @netsurfers house hehe

      • How about you have Dell send one to my house, just in case ozvictor cannot get his on time. He can pick it up from my house.

  • Is the screen the same between the two models?

    • +1

      yes, different monitor stand.

  • +1

Yay. Having previously bought an AOC 27" 4K monitor. I wanted a second, so .. now i have one of these Dell QS ones on the way. Hooray! Merry Christmas.

    • +1

      Merry Xmas to you too.

      • I hope it's as good at the AOC u2790pqu

        • This one has HDR400 (not true HDR, but better than nothing).

          • @netsurfer: Wow. Yay I didn't even.
Thisll make mspaint and notepad look amazing!

            • @FoxJump: Um… not really, for those apps, you don't want to use HDR. In fact, currently, HDR on desktop isn't very good.

  • Got one thanks OP! No idea what’s the difference in QS and Q but so got QS

    • +1

QS = height, tilt, swivel and pivot adjustable stand
      Q = tilt only

      • +3

        Hence
QS = only if you don't intend to buy a monitor mount
Q = if you are buying a monitor mount

      • Awesome thanks

    • +2

Display Position Adjustments: Height, pivot (rotation), swivel, tilt
      Display Position Adjustments: Tilt

  • +4

Thanks LiMaaa you're an absolute legend. Thanks for bringing us these deals. Have a wonderful weekend!

    • +1

      You too mate.

  • +1

Hi @LiMaaa - I ordered 2 with the intention of using for a manly office set up. I'm thinking now after reading comments on this thread that I should just get 1 and then get a 2k one. Is it possible to cancel just 1 of the units or would I have to cancel both?

    • +1

Maybe reorder one and cancel the 2

    • +2

I think you'd better get two with the same resolution, however you can get 1 Q + 1 QS, normally people with dual monitor setup only need one to be rotatable.

    • +3

Don't do that, if you plan to use dual monitors. Keep them the same res. I just tested 2K, 4K 27 inch combos this arvo. Here are some issues I found:

      • You cannot have anything span across 2 screens working properly with different resolution.
      • Colour calibration needs work otherwise they will look odd.
      • Dropping the 4K screen to 1440p (2K) isn't ideal. While it allows the 2 screens to work better, the interpolation mode makes things blurry.

Recommendation: Keep the 2. They are cheap / bargains. If the 2K one happens to be on special, get one more.

If you mainly use latest apps, 150% scaling does well nicely. You are most likely not doing heavy IT work so you shouldn't run into display scaling not working properly issue often.

      • This is why I'm waiting for the next S2721D deal. I've got the S2721DGF but I don't want to get the 4K, don't need it even though this is an excellent deal (I may bite my tongue later).

        • I am kind of in the same boat. I still prefer 2K for work. The S2721D is really tempting. Only concern is, will the colour match up reasonably well with DGF? I am guessing a bit of colour calibration will be needed.

          • @netsurfer: Yeah I was reading somewhere even two monitors of the same model would likely require different calibration settings. Hopefully the 21D is not too different from the DGF if I manage to get one next time.

      • "Dropping the 4K screen to 1440p (2K) isn't ideal. While it allows the 2 screens to work better, the interpolation mode makes things blurry."

Wonder if you could expand on this.

I have an older refurb PC dedicated for WFH, that has DP 1440p max.

I ordered the S2721D deal before and just ordered the S2721QS.

Just trying to future proof if I upgrade the PC or my old laptop down the track, so thought the 4K at very similar price would be best for that.

If the 4K monitor is blurrier at 2K resolution though, maybe should just keep the 2K and cancel the 4K.

    • +2

Thanks Everyone - My first comment here and everyone has been super helpful. I think I'll take the advice here and just keep them :) I plan to mount on a monitor arm.

    • I agree with meowel, but you can contact seller and ask to cancel one unit and see how they would like to proceed.

      • +2

Thanks for getting back to me..and for posting this deal. I think I'll just keep them.

  • +1

    Got 1. Thanks OP!

  • Thanks Op, late to the party but managed to snag a monitor for my Dad for Xmas. Hope it arrives in time, he’s always squinting at his current little screen so it’ll be nice to give him a good surprise!

    • +1

Will certainly be a good gift! Make sure dad's device supports 4k though :)

    • +2

It will come before Xmas, Santa wearing a Dell cap will make sure.

    • +2

Isn't he going to squint more with 4k?🤓

      • +2

Display scaling, basically kinda like what mobile phone screens are operating. Resolution is 4K, but effective desktop space is roughly 2K with 150% scaling.

  • Do we get proper tax invoice with Dell's ABN ? Also will that show the price after or before the discount.

    • +2

In my experience, eBay invoices always show the before discount price.

    • +2

Dell issued invoice at pre-discount price. Discount is paid through the coupon which is shared by Dell and eBay apparently.

  • -1

Op, get deal on dell 14.5" i7 laptop please.

    • Hopefully we see some nice laptop deals in 2021

      • +1

Dell laptops with the new Ryzen CPU = Hell YES !!!

  • Damnit, mine from october still hasn't shipped, and Dell support is closed (so can't cancel it).

If I order another one via ebay, will I be able to cancel it before it ships? (in case I can't get Dell to cancel the other one in time).

    • yeah it might take longer. Mine was delivered more than a month

      • I'm fine with longer (been waiting 7 weeks now). I'm more interested in the $60 saving from this deal.

        • +1

If they haven't shipped yours, you should be able to cancel your previous order.

  • These goods for a photo editing?

    • Depends… How important is the colour gamut? I don't enable HDR when using Windows on this monitor. I manually switch HDR on when viewing HDR videos (and honestly the HDR on this monitor is subpar). Also, do you have proper device to calibrate this monitor or you are just going to use other people's tuned profile (or just out of the box setup)?

If you are not that serious into colour perfect type work, this one being IPS, should do a reasonably decent job.

  • +5

LiMaaa you first upgrading the ozbargain community to 2k, now transform everyone into 4K, you did it again :)

    • +1

Slowly but surely we're bringing everyone into the future haha! ^-^

  • I am getting this error this code can't be applied to your order. Any thoughts?

    • how many did you buy? Maybe there is a purchasing limit of 2 ? I bought two and now it said I have already used the voucher

      • I was trying to get my first one lol.

        • Still works for me (but I am not buying one).

        • Was your account originally registered as an overseas account? US /UK or such, that often causes issues with codes that are AU specific…

Try loggin out and back in…. or, log out and then checkout as a guest…

          • @FLICKIT: Yep there is something wrong with my account. I tried as a guest and it works.

          • @FLICKIT: Thanks for this tip!

  • +1

Bought one, but think I'll come to regret due to the long wait times and the small size. Was very cheap though.

  • +5

    I dont need one… i don't need one.. I don't need one.

    Purchased. Thanks OP!

  • +2

amazing deal; 2 hours and counting and still in stock; great work, LiMaaa!

  • +3

Anyone like me who bought S2721D for $219 and bought QS today? Can't decide which one to keep. Please help.

    • yeah same lmao.

      • Let me know what did you decide

    • I wanted one of those :(

    • I returned the 2k one and kept the 4k one. 4k on 150% scale works much better

  • I cancelled thinking my laptop was not capable of pushing thru 4K/60hz then found out after research it can with Mini-DisplayPort output.

Can I cancel the pending cancellation :) ? Not seeing the option to.

    • +1

Buy two again and let the original order get cancelled

  • Finally got one. Thanks, OP!

  • Hey @Limaaa/anyone, Do you reckon this is a good monitor for graphic design work?
I'm not going to use it for gaming, I just want good/great colour representation.
    TIA

  • +3

Bought the previous deal at $336 and now bought this one to soften the buyers remorse!

  • Bought one purely because of all the hype!

  • +6

Some information for (future) owners of this monitor, regarding HDR:

    • On Windows, if possible use DisplayPort. This is especially important if you want to turn on HDR.
    • This monitor, by default, has HDR turned off (to save power). To enable that, use the buttons on the monitor, go to the menu, Display, Smart HDR and adjust accordingly.
    • The HDMI port, being HDMI 2.0, is bandwidth limited. If you don't use HDR, then at 4K, everything is fine. However, once 4K HDR is being used, it is limited to 4:2:2 (not 4:4:4). Now, if you use 100% scaling in Windows, then it may not be ideal. That's why I indicated use DisplayPort on PC earlier (as it does 4:4:4 with DisplayPort).
    • For XBox Series X, despite supporting HDMI 2.1, at 4K/60Hz, operates in HDMI 2.0 mode. This restricts 4K/60Hz/HDR to 4:2:2.
    • For PS5, even though it can operate 4K/60Hz HDR with 4:4:4 (via the use of HDMI 2.1), this monitor cannot operate in that mode through HDMI (only through DisplayPort).
    • Technically, using HDMI 2.1, XBox Series X supports higher bandwidth than PS5, but in order to use that, the display MUST support HDMI 2.1 and 120Hz+ (so if you have a 4K/120Hz/HDR 4:4:4 capable display/TV, Series X does support that mode). Though neither console supports absolute max bandwidth of HDMI 2.1.

At this price point, no PC 4K/60Hz monitors support HDMI 2.1, and unless you have PS5, it doesn't matter (since Series X, in current state, won't let you use HDMI 2.1 signalling for 4K/60Hz HDR - so you are stuck with 4:2:2 anyway).

Confused? Well, welcome to 4K HDR HDMI 2.0 and 2.1 mess.

TL;DR: Use DisplayPort on Windows. HDMI port, no matter what settings you set in Series X, PS5, or PC, it is at best 4K/60Hz HDR 4:2:2.

    • what about when you turn off the HDR for these consoles since HDR on this monitor isnt great anyway with max 350 nits?

      • +1

Without HDR (basically SDR), HDMI 2.0 does have sufficient bandwidth to do 4:4:4

        HDMI 2.0 has a bandwidth of 18.0Gbps.

        4K 60 4:4:4 (no HDR) = 17.82Gbps
        4K 30 4:4:4 10b-HDR (no 60fps) = 11.14Gbps
        4K 60 4:2:2 10b-HDR (no 4:4:4) = 17.82Gbps
        4K 60 4:4:4 10b-HDR = 22.28Gbps

Gaming, watching videos, probably not a big deal not having 4:4:4 at 4K HDR. After all, it's been like that for PS4 and XB1X (HDMI 2.0 only). It could be an issue when you use PC and need the precision.

        • So the included HDMI cable can't properly drive the monitor? That's pretty irritating. They should at least chuck in a proper DP cable, or at least replace the HDMI

          • @BigRiggs24: The included cable is good enough for HDMI 2.0. Even if you use the HDMI 2.1 cable included in XBox Series X or PS5, the problem / limitation remains.

With majority of people using 150% display scaling on this display with a PC, it is difficult for them to spot the 4:2:2 issue. Given the heavily discounted price, I wouldn't whinge about not including a decent DisplayPort cable.

Just get a decent DisplayPort cable and use that on PC.

            • @netsurfer: Oh, that should be fine for me then, thanks for clearing it up, I most definitely won't be using it at 100% scaling

              • @BigRiggs24: It's still best to use DisplayPort on PC. You cannot be sure every nVidia graphics card supports FreeSync / G-Sync compatible via HDMI.

If you can afford a 4K gaming PC setup, you certainly can afford a DisplayPort cable. Also, with this monitor, you can easily eliminate lousy sub-par cables (both HDMI and DisplayPort cables). A lot of cheap cables are junk.

                • @netsurfer: Any particular DP cable you recommend?
                  Thanks

                  • @congo: Also interested in a suggestion…..

                  • @congo: Any proper DP 1.4 cable is fine. If you had any DP cable supplied by other monitor makers, try that first (instead of wasting money buying one).

It's more that I found that a lot of cheap DP cables I bought a couple years ago are all DP 1.2, which don't work with 4K monitors. They were dirt cheap for a reason.

        • I have no idea about tech, just love playing Xbox. So do I need an extra cable to play the new Xbox Series X on this monitor, if so can you give me an example?

          • @grads5: Series X, you get an HDMI 2.1 cable included in the box (which is technically an overkill for this monitor). You also get an HDMI 2.0 cable with the monitor. Both work fine. No need to get another cable since both cables are good.

  • S2721D vs Q vs QS? Which one is best value $$, more use cases?

    • QS. 4K clarity (can always use scaling), stand is much better if you're not using a monitor arm (tilt/swivel/pivot/height), the Q and D are tilt-only stands.

    • +3

Best value is Q with a monitor arm.

      • For me, since its only a difference of $30 between the Q and QS, I would go for the QS. Also my cheap desk can't use a monitor arms. Maybe its time I get a new desk. Ahhhh….so much to spend haha

  • +2

    Thanks OP, bought one.

Really preferred the S2721D though but I missed out on that one twice. If only I could swap them.

    • Out of curiosity, why do you prefer the S2721D? I thought this monitor is superior except for the refresh rate, unless the PC is unable to drive it at 4k, eg gaming?

      • I only needed a secondary monitor, my main monitor is a 32 inch 1440p 144Hz, so this one being 27 inch and 4K is a bit of a mismatch, and I don't really need the extra sharpness. Basically the S2721D would be enough for me and it's also cheaper.

  • -4

Can someone confirm is it free return if the item is received and unopened?

    • I believe Dell organises a courier, but it can be a process. 30 days returns if in original packaging. Just make an informed purchase and no need to return. :)

  • These are still in stock; the S2721D is proving to be more popular

    • These also have 2500 units vs 1500. But yes D is a popular model.

  • -1

LiMaaa can i cancell my order. i realised this requires an adapter to use with a vesa mount. defeats the purpose of being vesa compatible

    • I believe it has vesa holes under the stand, what makes you say it requires an adapter?

      • +1

Why don't you ask Dell to send you samples of every single monitor so you have first hand experience?

        • and what.. build a monitor wall in my living room? :D

          • +1

@LiMaaa: What you're aiming for is the OzB logo. Just need a few monitor arms…
