        Hey LiMaaa
Thanks so much! Appreciate the reply. So keen for the black Friday drop. Hopefully I can add the monitor to the one I just got in this deal!

  • +1

Can confirm that this monitor looks great on PS5 and most likely on XSX too. As netsurfer said, there are downsides to using this on console from a technical standpoint. The average gamer probably won’t notice the differences though.

PS. I’ve always sat close to screens by nature/habit so that helps with the sharpness at 27”

    • Basically, on both PS5 and XSX, HDMI 2.0/2.1 support is still work in progress. On XSX, enabling VRR took a few goes (before it finally lets me). PS5, there is a rumor that VRR will be supported later on. However, does HDR + VRR actually work concurrently on this monitor is a question mark. Just because Digital Foundry uses an LG CX to test XSX HDR and VRR doesn't mean HDR+VRR works for most TVs and displays. The reality is actually the opposite.

In case you are wondering why Sony hasn't put VRR on PS5 yet. The primary reason (I think) is Sony 4K gaming TV(s)' VRR is still work in progress - and I really don't think Sony wants you to buy an LG TV.

At the moment, you could achieve 4K 60 HDR 4:4:4 on PS5 only if you have an HDMI 2.1 TV/display (this monitor's HDMI 2.0 - due to bandwidth limitation can only do 4:2:2, if you MUST have 4:4:4, you need to turn off HDR on consoles - not an issue for PC as you can use DisplayPort).

For the moment, you actually want PS5 and XSX games to run at smooth 60fps because of the mess with HDMI, HDR and VRR (when they are all mixed together), unless you own LG CX TV (even that isn't perfect, but for now, it is the best gaming TV).

Anyone that has their hands on the monitor, which monitor settings have you adjusted for best picture.

    • It is pretty much personal preference.

I pretty much have it on Standard Preset, but I have dropped the brightness and contrast from the default.
I think default Brightness and Contrast was default at 70%, I Iike it 40-50% as I usually use the computer in the dark. Other than that no other setting.

When watching a movie with HDR content, the content takes over the Brightness etc.

My old monitor took a lot of fiddling to set it up the way I liked. This one out of the box was pretty good for me.

I have been using mine over a month.

      • Would you mind testing if you can overclock the monitor up to 75hz, can't find anyone who's tried it yet.

        • I have tried but my PC setup is poor.

In my AMD settings it will not really let me create a 3840x2160x75 profile with out it complaining that my monitor is not compatible with that setting (error from AMD software). I managed to create a profile but the G.Pixel and G.Refresh setings was not really reflecting 75Hz, when I applied it the monitor complained telling me the timings were bad and not supported.

Not really what you was after, I created a 1920x1080x75Hz custom resolution (not listed in the manual) without the AMD software complaining. When I applied it, that worked, I checked the monitor display status and it did say 1920x1080 at 75Hz.

But my test is not really conclusive for 4K resolution because my video card is really low spec not really for gaming from the last decade.

Sorry that exhausts anything I can test with the equipment I have.

  • So eBay lists mine as arriving by 4th January 2021!

Why do they advertise items that aren't in stock?

Six plus week wait…..Not good enough.

    • +3

Trust LiMaaa not the eBay listing :) He said it will arrive on or before 20th Dec. Caveat no year mentioned :D

  • Realise its not out yet, but should I be looking on eBay or Dell's website for the AW3821DW?

  • @OP: Any good deals coming for UHD monitor over the weekend? I missed out on this one

    • I think some who bought this are selling due to they prefer the upcoming DGF sale on Black Friday. Perhaps look out for those.

      • Great… where can i find such people :)

        • +1

Classified ads section here. Just post that you wanted one.

      • BTW what is DGF sale and can I expect some good 4k monitor deals there?

        • Just another crowd favourite monitor here, more on gaming monitor. Not 4K.

        • S2721DGF is the model number, Google it. It's a 2k gaming beast.

  • Those of you who ordered the S2721Q - have you received a Dell order number to track on the Dell Australia website yet?

    • +1

No mine shows est 4 Jan arrival on eBay so it'll be a few weeks of waiting time I guess

    • +2

mine has an Estimated delivery of - Mon, 21 Dec - Wed, 30 Dec

  • +3

got my monitor today… just found it at my front door.. LOL .. sydney

    • +1

You're a happy hippy now. Haha. Sorry I couldn't resist.

    • Wow lucky you. When did you order?

I haven't got any messages from Dell.

    • How are these EBay orders shipping ahead of Dell website orders placed mid October?!

      • +1

The units for these deals are secured well ahead of time in preparation for these deals. This allows us to be transparent about our shipping times and stick to them.

    • Did you order during this deal or the previous one?

    • Did you get an order number from Dell, or any kind of update prior to receiving the monitor?

  • I wouldn't believe any kind of shipping estimate you're given.

Ordered one of these back in mid October and it arrived today. Trying to nail down a firm ETA was impossible.

    • The shipping estimates for my deals are accurate so far. Other avenues may differ.

  • Ordered through Dell website mid Oct 2020 with estimated mid Nov 2020. Order confirmed with 26 Nov 2020 estimated delivery date. Order status updated today with early January 2021 delivery. 2.5 months to deliver a monitor. COVID or no, this is ridiculous. So I have most likely paid more for my monitor to supposedly get it sooner but in reality will get it later than those who ordered later and paid less???? @LiMaaa, how "well ahead" was your deal planned? Something is not right here.

    • I can't comment about off deal website orders as they would be through different departments for which I don't have that information. My better judgement would say that Jan eta is inflated and inaccurate, but you can always contact Dell Australia customer care and speak to them directly regarding your order.

    • +1

      Hi Ddood,
I also ordered one of these mid October, and was told November 23rd as delivery date. A couple weeks later I was told there was no stock in the country and it would arrive December 23rd, and was told the same over the phone and that I will not get it any earlier. Then it arrived at my door on November 17.
I share in your frustration but I would not trust the shipping estimates, and it seems it could arrive literally at any moment….

      • +4

Thanks likeditthewayitwas. I suppose I will just have to be patient but Dell's customer service is leaving a lot to be desired. I can understand underselling and overdelivering but not the other way around. In this day and age, with all the advancements and tools in supply chain logistics, there should not need to be any guesswork. Either the part is in stock or it is not. Ii is either on its way or it is not. Seeing some orders delivered whist others are not when ordered around the same time just doesn't make sense. This kinda crap is why Mercedes and Honda are changing the way they sell cars in this country. Sorry, gone off on a tangent and rant over.

  • @LiMaaa - purchased one of these deal monitors and delivery date says 29th December. No communication from Dell about this order since placing it.

    What’s happening?
That delivery date doesn’t line up with what was posted

    • It's an eta, it should arrive in alignment with the ETA specified in OP.

  • Hey mate, are you getting any more?

    • This deal is expired, so no plans for restocking it.

      • LiMaa when would be the next time we will see a sale on these monitors?

        • +1

          Possibly in the new year.

  • Why does the Dell website black friday deal say this ships in 2-3 days, while we are waiting months?

    • What are you referencing, a link would help?

  • +2

Wow LiMaaa, you certainly have to deal with a lot of whinging people.

    • Yeah and he must be really enjoying doing this. Imagine having to deal with all of these while not getting paid for it. :D

      • +2

It's not my fault most of you are awesome with good witty banter. Hmmpf :)

  • Has anyone had their monitor ship yet?

    • No nothing yet … :(

      • But everything I ordered elsewhere a week or so later has been shipped, wassup Dell? Haha.

      • Just got my order number this morning

        • Same.

        • +1

What's your eta ship date? mine says jan 1 :(

          • @zintill: I have Ship date 7th Dec and arrived by 9th Dec.
            Ordered at exactly 7pm

            • @Mario_R_83: I ordered at 7pm on the dot also, damn

              • @zintill: Also ordered 7pm on the dot (probably within 30 seconds), but my order tracking on Dell.com says "In Production" with an estimated Ship date of 31 Dec, and ETA 2 Jan :/

    • My s2721qs has shipped. Should be here in a few days.

      • Mine too

  • +1

He bargain hunters, how's your order tracking? I got this from the dell tracking while they have marked it as posted on ebay.

I'm quite concerned as most will be away for xmas and it would be a massive issue if the couriers leave monitors at the door and they vanish.

    • I got the same thing. Says Posted on Ebay. On Dell Website it states in production since Nov 28th. so it is shipped yet or not? and the other tracking website states Out of stock.
I placed my order within the first minute of it going live.

    • It's hard to always get an accurate eta of day of shipment, as it's passed over to startrack and they sometimes inform customers and sometimes don't. Your best bet would be to leave a clear note before you go away asking them to take to depot for collection by you at a later time. This will unsure they aren't left unguarded.

      • This is not about startrack. Dell tracking says out of stock but has marked the item as posted.

It can't be out of stock as this was an item stocked for the sale right?

        • +2

As mentioned previously, Dell eta and notices through the site aren't always accurate as these deals are organised on a seperate timeline. I would say that's an erroneous notice, yes.

If I were you I would trust the ETA specified in this thread, but yes I can imagine not knowing an exact date of delivery can be frustrating.

Dm me your order no and I can find out if it's shipped yet or not. Generally once it's shipped you can track it.

          • @LiMaaa: Hi @LiMaaa would you be able to check my order if I DM you as well? Thanks

  • +2

Just give you all an update and hope. Got email from Dell today and my ETA is 7 Dec. Finger-crossed. Yippee.

    • Was this an email from Dell directly or from Dell's eBay account? I got a "posted" notification from eBay but the tracking number is just the Dell Order number. Anyone know how I can check the tracking from this order number? Thanks

      • +2

plug in the tracking number starting 8xxxxx in to Dell's tracking site - https://dellpleportal.dbschenker.com.au/ETA/ETAquery

it says it's out of stock and hasn't provided an updated

        • Same. Mine is also out of stock

  • ebay still says Estimated delivery Mon, 21 Dec - Tue, 05 Jan

  • +4

Check this guys. That’s better tracking I guess. You need your order number.

    Dell Order Status

  • +5

My shipping date has been updated to 2 January. I also received a phone call from a Dell rep to inform me verbally.

I have to say—amazing price on the monitor, but absolutely lousy approach to selling. It’s not unreasonable to be unhappy about waiting 6 weeks to receive a monitor. Especially when I wasn’t informed about this at the time of purchase.

I feel like it’s an underhanded way of inducing people to buy to keep their order books full.

If the wait time is 6 weeks, then this should be made clear at the time of ordering. I’m currently without a monitor, and I actually really need one for work at the moment. What if this was a Black Friday sale for a phone? Would I be expected to just wait for a whole 6 weeks without a phone?

    • +5

That's odd because based on what @LiMaaa said, these orders are supposed to be secured in advance, not to mention the sale having an allotted quantity.

Also, I find their tracking really confusing. Usually when my order has been shipped, I know it has been passed on to the caurier or is about to be passed on to them. Theirs on the other hand use words like "in production". What does that even mean in relation to my order being shipped?

      • +1

I know what you mean. I bought on the basis of @LiMaaa’s assurances RE some kind of special delivery situation and reserved stock…

The Dell website shows my order ETA as 2 Jan, and yeh I did receive that phone call to inform me, prior to the website being updated.

I’m pretty sure “in production” means that we’re waiting on new monitors to be manufactured… haha

        • +1

Wow that sucks. When I messaged dell on eBay and asked when my order will be shipped, no wonder they said your order has been processed instead of shipped. Wow. In my years as an eBay buyer, I've never come accross dates I couldn't use to gauge when I might receive an item, LMAO. On eBay, my estimated delivery date is the 29th of December. But on the dell website, my estimated ship Date is december 3, 2020 (still has not been shipped) which is estimated to arrive by dec 10, 2020.

    • +2

Well. When Limaa posted this deal, it was clearly mentioned and still mentioned on the post so we can't really complain.

      Shipping Info:
The latest anyone should receive their monitor from this deal is Dec 20th.

Though I agree it is hard to wait for such a long time for delivery.

      • Far out now it's being moved to Jan 21st

        • +1

It is same for me now. The order moved to 20th Jan. Oddly some people got their monitor delivered today. Limaa suggested ignoring such status updates plus verbal communications about the delay. Not sure what to trust now. 2 Months wait is not really a deal

          • @lastkey: Fingers crossed we will get our monitors before Christmas :)

            • @nipun5perera: The order tracking is showing more information than earlier, such as my address, name so its look like the order tracking is more accurate for now.

    • +4

I'm very concerned about the constantly-shifting delivery ETA as well.

When this deal was advertised here, it was supposed to be delivered no later than 20 Dec. But my ETA (like many others) says 2 Jan now - that's a significant delay, and I don't think I would have placed my order if I had known.

I understand that LiMaaa has the best of intentions in putting this deal together, and has done a great job answering all of our tough questions - but we really need a firm ETA on everyone's orders, so we can then make an informed choice on whether to keep waiting or to cancel.

      • My ETA says the 6th of January, despite placing my order within the first 30 seconds of the deal going live - but Limaa has noted that we should disregard the ETA provided by Dell's systems and go by the ETA provided by him instead - which is on or before the 20th of December. Hopefully it works out!

EDIT: That said, a bit concerning that people are getting verbal confirmation from Dell that the ETA has been pushed out.

        • Have same eta as you :(

        • +9

I talked to my guy at Dell and I know it sounds odd, but he said to ignore automated eta or verbal contact, that orders are on schedule to meet deal eta. So I'm referring that info to you guys.

        • +1

Mine shipped today even though I placed my order 34 minutes after the sale started. I guess the time you place your order has an insignificant influence on when they will ship your order.

          • @Misogi Kumagawa: Interesting, I wonder if its because I placed an order for two monitors instead of one.

  • +1

Also got in production when checking the tracking, with estimate shipping and delivery 7 ang 11 dec…. looking forward to it.

  • +1

Mine just shipped today and ETA is Monday the 7th. Fingers crossed.

    • Did you get shipping confirmation and tracking?

      • Mine shipped today but I was not alerted. It's @FrugalNotStingy comment that made me check my tracking. Tracking now takes you to star track tracking which I think is going to be more reliable than dell's website. ETA is 7/12.

      • Nah, I did not receive one. I punched in my order number to their order tracking site as discussed above ^ and it stated my order as shipped. There is a StarTrack tracking link provided and it shows that the monitor is in transit and ETA is 07/12/2020.

Also I have just noticed that my original ETA date of Dec 9, 2020 is now strikeout on the Dell order tracking page.

    • Ok. My own’s estimated shipping was 3rd and delivery 7th Dec as per the order tracking link. Still no updates further nor I see a startrack tracking.

  • +2

My monitor was just delivered in Sydney. Hope everyone else's isn't too far away.

    • When, just today? On a Saturday?

      • +3

Auspost and Startrack have been doing Saturday deliveries for ages. Especially now that Christmas is close. I had two different deliveries this morning from Auspost

        • Good to know. I haven’t had received deliveries on weekends. Thanks.
