Haha down voted for pointing out the impossibility of airpoe's comment. I guess I can't be physically attacked or silenced by what I type here, so downvoting is the next best thing. Keep them coming

        • … Trump & his supporters contradict themselves constantly, are you not aware of this?
          airpoe's comment is fine.

    • If you have a smart TV or a lil dongle thing connected, you can download this Kodi media player add on ( https://aussieaddons.com/ ) for, among other cool things, shoving the AFL app onto your tele for free.

It's still 720 or whatever the phone's quality is, so it doesn't look stellar on a big TV, but for free, it's more than watchable.

      • The afl app still requires a login for live or replay games though, but it's easy enough to either have or know someone with login.

        • Forgot there's an app on the tele too, I was thinking of the Live Pass or whatever it's called since they said free, I got it with my Boost account for nothing, my bad.

    • +1

hardcore Trump fans & think the coronavirus is fake & that lives should be sacrificed for the economy. Crazy stuff.

That is not even remotely true. I'm sure the irony of making a comment about trash media while reciting some more trash media is lost on you.

      • Which bit isn't true? I've watched some of sky news stuff out of morbid curiousity and have heard this and similar.

  • +4

Just a question to ones who have foxy subscription, is it worth even at $25/m?

    • +3

I watch Foxtel more than netflix.

      • sky news?

        • +1

          LOL no…

I like all the lifestyle and documentary stations…

      • +4

I think $15/m should be the normal price. I don't understand how foxtel manages to stay in business with $105/m. Are there any other perks I am missing that foxtel offers with 105/m?

        • +3

          Old people

          • +1

@DryScissors: I think Foxtel paid $800 million in sports rights last year. They'd need more than half Australian households to pay 15/mo to break even on sports. $100/mo is around the same for cable in Aus, US, Europe

    • I recently cancelled Foxtel, and they would not offer me the same discount, so actually cancelled this time. Using Fetch + Binge (3 months free) and don't miss Foxtel at all. I might keep Binge, seems to have all the Foxtel shows I watch for $14 PM and no ads. I have always used Kayo for sport, can watch it on phone or tablet and cast it to any TV in the house without paying Foxtel multiroom BS. And don't even get me started on paying extra for Foxtel HD!

      • +1

Yeah, at the moment I'm getting Binge for free through Telstra and had Kayo for free through BetEasy, but I'd happily pay the asking price for both, especially since I share the accounts with my parents and sister. Works out to something just over $10/month per household for the bulk of content I'd otherwise be subscribing to Foxtel for. Combined with my Turkish Netflix, Indian Youtube Premium and Amazon Prime, I've got a pretty decent range of entertainment covered.

  • +7

    $25/mth for 3 months

That should be the normal price…

  • +1

Hmmm…might take this up instead of paying $25 for Kayo.

Only gotcha is that live TV is 720p, although on demand is 1080p (which is how I watch my sport anyway)?

    https://www.foxtel.com.au/now/support/how-it-works/how-to-us…

    • +1

I haven’t paid for Kayo for over a year.

Used to use the old bet easy 3 months free codes. Shame they merged beteasy with sportsbet

      • +1

Yeah that beteasy deal was magnificent, I got 18 months free Kayo out of it. A real shame we can't get it anymore.

Same as Kirt I'll take this deal up rather than Kayo for the next 3 months, more content for the same price.

        • +1

Yeah, I would’ve jumped at this, but the idiots don’t have an Apple TV app.

Downright stupid if you ask me.

          • @Extreme: I wish I had of known that before I signed up…
No Apple TV or Xbox apps
Casting this rubbish is going to get annoying

            • @choofa: Let them know when you cancel it, it’s because they don’t have apps.

Hopefully they get the hint and do something about it.

  • Can I watch F1 live streams on this?

    • +2

Yes they used to have it and I'm pretty sure they still would. They own the rights, they stream it live on Kayo which is owned by Foxtel.

  • +1

Hahaha how desperate can you be, Foxtel.

    Utterly pathetic.

  • +2

There's many ways for bargain hunters to bypass paying money to a Murdoch entity.

    • Amazon Prime? The lesser/greater evil..

    • Not if you want to watch live sport hassle free. There was one way while the beteasy 3 months code deal was available but sadly it no longer is.

Edit: beteasy code for Kayo, which is owned by Foxtel/Murdoch.

  • I can’t get pass sign up screen, shows loading and that’s it

  • +2

    Cancel Foxtel

  • +1

So much money to just watch TV holy crap! Do something more productive and use that money for take away or something

  • +4

Can’t believe these idiots still don’t have an Apple TV app….

  • +3

I've recently moved back home and discovered my dad was paying $159 a month for his foxtel connection as a legacy plan. I called up and they instantly moved it to this $104 plan.

I want to get him to cancel because Murdoch is a (profanity) cancer, but he loves SkyNews and the History channel… literally the only two channels he watches. He pays $104p/m for two channels. How can I save him?

    • When someone does something for so long, it’s very hard to change their mindset.

    • +2

If you buy a Foxtel Now box, even without a subscription you can watch Sky News and Fox Sports news for free. At least you're paying Murdoch a once-off fee not an ongoing sub.

Not sure about the History channel, I think it might be available on Hulu? Also History have a website and an app you can watch videos on but I don't know how much of the channel content is available via those or how good they are.

      • Yeah only one of the sky news channels in unencrypted right?

Sky News Live and Sky News Business require a foxtel subscription … https://more.skynews.com.au/apps-devices/apple-tv/

        • Yes, only the main sky news channel and the fox sports news channel can be viewed without a subscription.

    • He can get both of those on Binge, for $14/month.

      • Where do you find SkyNews and the History channels on Binge?

        • +1

History is available via the Linear Channels on Binge. Sky News doesn't seem to be.

    • I have the Apple TV 4K. In that I noticed the Sky News app which does allow streaming of the Sky News channels for free.

  • He is saving foxtel from ozbargainers milking foxtel broke.

Don’t try to get him the ozbargain way. You will suffer.

  • +1

When I click the "Get Offer" button the next page says I'll get a 10 day free trial and after that it's full price i.e $25 for basic pack or $104 for all packs. I'm not logged in. Tried Firefox and Chrome, incognito tab, desktop and mobile, same thing happens on all.

Anyone else getting this? Any ideas?

    • +1

Same, I was confused by this too

      • Thanks but that takes me to the same page as the "Get Offer" button on the deal page leads to…10 day trial then full price :(

    • +1

Yeah I got the same last night.
Tried 2 different computers, different browsers, normal and incognito modes but always got the same thing where it would show the sign up page for the offer then 1 second later send you to the normal 10 day free trial page.
I thought I would try this morning but it's still the same.

    • +1

I got on to the support chat on the sign up page it sends you to and told my Foxtel Now support specialist Amanda what was happening.
She said she will have it escalated to "The Team" and asked me for contact details so they can get back to me in 2 days.
So if anyone is interested in the offer they can try the support chat on the standard sign up page or check the offer page in a few days as their team may have fixed the dodgy links.

      • So i take it, no one can register for this deal?
        Anyone managed to register ?

      • Nice work thanks. Whenever I'm on the page it says "agent offline" and won't let me open support chat. Maybe during business hours.

Update us here once they get back to you if you don't mind?

      • Didn't get the call yet but went to Foxtel Now on my mobile browser and it showed the offer in a big yellow section titled Big Cyber Sale.
Clicked Get Offer which takes you to the offer page.
Click Get offer again and it takes you to the sign up page which shows all packs discounted at $25!
This is the furthest I have gotten with this deal.

After speaking with the Loyalty team again about my IQ4 to confirm what they can offer me and essentially told bugger all I think I will just get this.
Just not worth the hassle dealing with their Saves/Loyalty/ Win Back teams. It's a nightmare.
If I want Fox Sports again I will just get Kayo.

  • Is gamepass included in that deal? $15 for fox Tel, and $15 for game pass? What a turn off, turns Netflix on.

  • +2

$25 to watch ads. Foxtel should be paying me to watch ads.

  • Wonder if the sports channel is the same coverage as kayo?

    • I wonder too. I think the live sports coverage would be the same but it probably doesn't have as much on demand stuff, kayo minis etc.

      • +1

Minis were available on Foxtel Go (so I assume also on Foxtel Now). They are branded as 'Fox Minis' rather than 'Kayo Minis'. The main difference is the Foxtel Now will only have programming that is broadcast on Foxtel. Any Kayo-only content isn't available. Not all games are available on demand, and when they are, it's only after the event is complete (with Kayo you can watch it any time after the start of the event)

        • Thanks. Do you know if there are sports or series that are Kayo-only?

        • Would you have an idea whether the live cricket would be in 1080p or 720 on Foxtel Now? Just considering either this or Kayo for the next three months for the cricket. For the same price Foxtel Now does have additional content so I'm a bit confused as to which one I should pay for.

  • Does Foxtel have rights to livestream Australian Open?

    • No. Nine have the all-of-media rights to the Australian Open. Just be thankfully that Stan Sport won't be available in January, otherwise a lot of it will be behind Nine's paywall (as will be the case for the Wimbleton coverage).

  • +1

Paying money for adds. How does this service still exist.

  • +3

FOxtel is just repetitive rubbish now… all the car mod shows are the same 10-15 episodes in rotation - have been for 7=-8 months. even worse, you see part 1 of 2 and you never get to see episode 2.. They dont actually play them in order.

Entertainment ? Old rubbish shows, theres nothing worth paying for on Foxtel
Soon as my contact payout is cheap enough its gone

  • How many screens can stream in parallel with this? Wondering if can share with folks

  • +9

70+ channels of trash shows packed with ads. Why would anyone pay for that? It's 2020 FFS.. get with the times

    • -3

It’s for sports. does it make you fell superior that you can download and streams content online? Kayo +binge is 37 dollars a month. This package includes both for 25 dollars.

      • +7

This package includes both for 25 dollars.

For the first 3 months. If you are a new customer.

      • +5

then turns to over 100/mth after 3 mths..

Not worth $10/mth for 10 yrs

    • -4

$25pm what are you whinging about

    • +1

Why would anyone pay for that?

If you pay $25 for Kayo, why wouldn't you switch to Foxtel Now for the same price, and get sport plus movies, tv shows, kids shows, docos etc?

      • +1

If you pay $25 for Kayo, why wouldn't you switch to Foxtel Now for the same price

Because the Foxtel will be over 4 times that after 3 months, and perhaps I have a whole lot of other high quality content available for me via netflix, prime videos, etc. all of which will be delivered without the annoying and repetitive adverts.

Perhaps also because Foxtel operates based on a morally bankrupt business model, offers a hit and miss support at best, and oh, I'd rather throw my money into a river than give it to Murdoch.

        • SImple, you cancel it at the start of the third month, Kayo is still Murdoch. If you watch on-demand there's one 15 or 30 second ad at the start. I also find the shows and movies to be better than Netflix, Stan etc

  • +2

    https://www.lifehacker.com.au/2019/07/how-to-get-foxtels-ful…

Foxtel customers who’ve threatened to quit, according to a report by Sydney Morning Herald (SMH), have been offered huge discounts on their Foxtel packages in order for them to stay.

One customer told SMH he was able to get a $90 Foxtel package down to $55 while another alleged they were able to get their $99 package down to $35 after attempting to quit when Game of Thrones had finished airing.

worth a try.?? na still too expensive…

    • even the fascists can get their news their way now by watching free to air so not seeing the attraction except sports nuts who don't get what sports entertainment really means….

    • I have been in discussions with them to cancel My Foxtel Satellite.
I am on Movies HD for $58 (I changed to the mini pack during contract so I really only pay $10 p/m) and they have offered legacy plans to save me, the old Entertainment base pack for $29 which has a fair bit less than the current in market $49 base plan Foxtel Plus, and free Multiscreen (casting from the Foxtel Go app).
I said no go so they offered me 2 more options: Sports and Drama $39 3 months or Sports and Movies $39 3 months.
I don't think these offers even include the HD pack so that's another $10 on top.

The Foxtel Now deal here blows those offers out of the water.

    • That has happened for a while but it is a bit patchy, and it might depend on which 'consultant' you get on the day.
I used to pay $69pm for Basic + Sport in HD, but when I tried to disconnect, they offered me the same deal for $39, so long as I signed on for a year, which I did.
But at the end of that period it jumped to $58, with no notice until after it happened.
The following month, most my work went south with Covid, so I rang up and begged poor and tried to do a deal to save some money. Nothing. No counter offer, just, 'We'll email instructions on how to return your IQ', which I did.
On the other hand, I have a mate who gets Basic + Entertainment for $25pm. Just rang up and asked, and they said yes. Dunno why. Maybe he's a mason?

      • I've heard similar with the 'mate just called up and it worked'..
I know they go to town to try keeping you on, but its just not worth it.. AFL season is over, MotoGP season is done… no sport worth watching.

        • +3

That's the thing, I don't want to agree to the 3 month offer for Sport when AFL is what I watch and there's no AFL on for 3 months.
I called up to cancel twice and the 1st convo was great. The guy talked to me about what I watch and different offers. 2nd call was horrible. Agent just said cancel yep no worries. Then 2 days later the Loyalty team called with the offers I posted.
I just hate how it changes so much with each agent you speak to.

  • +2

I'm in the minority as I loved Foxtel, and more so my IQ2. I cancelled at the start of covid, just tightening the belt. Thought I was going to get their retention team and an offer I couldn't refuse but they just let me go. Was paying $89.63 for everything and HD. Which is a rip off and too much. I'd still happily pay $50.00 for it all (yep even the ads).

Have Fetch, Kayo, Stan, Netflix, Amazon and Disney now. I'm not a Kayo fan, have it for F1 and AFL. I use Aussie for my internet but it still buffers during live sport and always seems at important times. I hate it. Another thing I don't like with streaming is the fast forward/rewind functionality. I like old school fast forwarding, so you can still watch in a faster motion.

Also Fetch is OK as a PVR but I liked the IQ2 (which is ancient), IQ2 just worked for me.

  • Report Murdoch's the only person who watches TV, free to air, and not foxtel, he's probably to busy

  • Just signed up and did some quick testing using the native Foxtel app on the Nvidia Shield, as well as Matts Foxtel Now Kodi add-on:

    https://www.matthuisman.nz/2019/05/foxtel-now-kodi-add-on.ht…

Looks like live sport is limited to 720p @50fps (still very-much watchable, especially with the Shields AI upscaling), with on demand sport full HD / 1080p @50fps, and a nice bonus is that the Fox Minis (same thing as the Kayo Minis) are 50fps, whereas Kayo Minis are limited to 25fps.

Checked a few new release movies and tv shows too, and all were 1080p.

    Good deal :D

    • Hi so you're saying that live cricket on Fox Sports on Foxtel now would be in 720p whereas if I got Kayo, it's in 1080p?

      • Am 99% sure that is the case - will double check the WBBL on Wednesday and the 1st ODI on Friday.

  • Hollymolly who pay 104$ on this…. i have primevideos cost 59$ for year 😂

  • Paying to Murdoch? No thank you!

  • BRB… showing wife… to justify all those hard drives in Plex server.

  • Can anyone confirm if live sports is 1080p50?

    • Waiting for this too. Unfortunately I have used the trial long time ago so I can't find out myself.

  • Did some more testing, and it looks like AFL and NRL full replays are limited to 25fps on Kayo, but appear to be 50fps on Foxtel Now.

  • I only want F1, but always have to pay (exorbitantly!!!) for other crap I never watch with the Foxtel/Kayo model.

Is Fox still the only one licensed for F1 in Australia? I really think these "exclusive" deals are anti-competitive and while other services/companies are always under the spotlight for being anti-competitive, the media industry never seems to be?

  • Michael West takes a look into News Aus. Holdings accounts. The balance sheet doesn't look good for Foxtel. https://youtu.be/es_ERsWB4zQ

  • Odd, any attempt to sign up now gives me pop and lifestyle only for $25, anything else is extra. Does give me ten days free,
