Terms & Conditions
In order to qualify for the promotional credit, you must: (1) be one of the first 4,000 customers to purchase at least $100 in eligible Amazon.com.au Gift Cards in a single order at Amazon.com.au between 12:01am (AEDT) on November 27th 2020 and 11:59 PM (AEDT) on November 29th 2020 (“Promotional Period”); and (2) enter the promotional code "GIFTCARD5" in the "redeem a Gift Card or Promotional Code" box at check out (“Qualifying Purchase”). Amazon.com.au Gift Card purchases must total at least $100 in combined value, and the Amazon.com.au Gift Card(s) must be purchased in a single order at Amazon.com.au during the Promotional Period. Amazon.com.au Gift Cards are subject to the Amazon.com.au Gift Card Terms and Conditions. Taxes, shipping and handling, and gift wrap charges, if applicable, do not apply when determining the minimum purchase amount. For Qualifying Purchases, a promotional credit of $5 will be automatically applied to the Amazon.com.au account that was used to purchase the Amazon.com.au Gift Card(s) within 4 business days after your order is shipped (for physical gift cards) or the order being completed (for electronic gift cards). An email notification will also be sent to the primary email address associated with the Amazon.com.au account used to purchase the Amazon.com.au Gift Card(s) within four (4) business days of the qualifying purchase being shipped to confirm that the promotional code has been applied to the relevant account. Limit one promotional credit per Amazon.com.au account. This promotional credit entitles any customer to $5 off their future purchase of “eligible items” shipped and sold by Amazon AU. “Eligible items” excludes products sold by third party sellers including Amazon US (Amazon Global Store) even if “fulfilled by Amazon”, digital purchases such as e-books, products that are not in new condition such as renewed products, subscriptions such as Prime Video and Audible, gift cards and postage or delivery rates. Amazon AU’s standard delivery rates and policies apply to any purchase made pursuant to the offer. The promotional credit can only be redeemed once per customer on eligible items and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. If Amazon considers a customer to be operating multiple accounts, those accounts will, for the purposes of this offer, be treated as one customer. If you return any item purchased using the promotional credit, Amazon AU will only refund the price actually paid for the item (that is, less the value of the promotional credit) and the promotional credit will be invalidated. The promotional credit is not transferable and may not be resold, redeemed for or applied toward the purchase of any gift cards sold at Amazon.com.au. The maximum benefit you may receive from this offer is $5.00. Offer ends at 11:59 PM (AEDT) on November 29th 2020 and is valid while stocks last. The promotional credit expires at 11:59 PM (AEDT) on January 17th 2021.

Thanks, not bad. Only only $2 better than getting suncorp giftcards for amazon.

Macquarie as well, just note that this is Promo Credit which is not available to use on most items, just ones sold directly by Amazon and not available to use with any third-party seller.

  • +3

    Only $5? Meh

  • OK deal but not great. Even Prezee was better…

  • Was about to hit buy as I have $90 item in card anyway, then realized that I should just go with Macquarie 3% discount upfront.

Promo credit is very limited to Amazon AU store items, not third party sellers even if they are Prime. I would rather 3% upfront savings over +5% promo credit.

Not if you pay 90 for $105…

  • forgot the zip pay
anyway $5 is better than nothing.

    • LOL…I made the same error :(
      I hope I won't lose my OzB badge…

      • +2

Contrary opinion here, but I think it's the other way around - this site is primarily about value (what you get is a good trade for you for what you give up), and I think the zip pay offer is spectularly poor value, so I question if people should lose their OzB badge for taking up this offer. Let me explain: I'm very happy to forgo the $10 zip offer, because they can make a credit check, which can then reduce the amount you can churn credit cards, which if you do it right is worth way more than $10. An entry on your credit report for $10 seems like a extremely poor trade to me, possibly even irrationally so if it even slightly reduces your future success applying for credit. Pass.

        • Could you explain how this works? I'm new to this and I can't wrap my head around it - I thought the initial credit check was fine and doesn't affect your credit rating at all - and the only time to worry is if you default on a payment which will affect your credit negatively and that affects your borrowing capacity. So if you pay off everything on time or immediately, it won't affect your credit score at all. Is this not the case?

          • +1

@peppet: No. Every time you apply for credit (shown as an enquiry on your credit report) your credit score goes down, eg I've seen it drop roughly 10 to 20 points on equifax. If you default on a payment it would drop very rapidly (I cannot tell you how much because I've never done it). Sometimes if you close a credit card your score can drop. It's all quite opaque how these scores are calculated.

            • @nickj: Oh… I'm immediately closing these now. Does performing a credit check myself affect my credit score? I'm assuming no and a quick google suggests not as well but I'm really curious to check my credit score now

              • +1

@peppet: No downside at all to checking your own credit score, so check away.
2 main free services for checking your credit score and sending you free updates each month are :
                * https://www.creditsavvy.com.au/
                * https://www.getcreditscore.com.au/
The first gives the most details but is from a smaller credit agency, and the second gives almost zero details but is from the credit agency most of the banks use.
Also you've most likely already incurred the hit if you signed up, so probably best to just go with it. For me, basically I want to see $600+ of benefit to me in cash or kind (eg frequent flyer points) due a credit enquiry for a credit card, I avoid the credit enquiries that are unnecessary (eg I use prepaid mobile instead of postpaid and it's cheaper too, and avoid BNPL schemes, and avoid having a Telstra landline, and have a pay in advance broadband service), and just accept the credit enquiries you cannot avoid (like a mortgage).

                • @nickj: Thank you so much for that info!

I just checked my score - it's interesting that there's a difference between the two services but they both say excellent so I think I'm ok! I had my mortgage approved a few months ago thankfully, but I've never had a credit card and don't plan one getting one in the future I don't think (I definitely don't know enough about how to benefit from one yet).

I suppose I'll keep the BNPLs and just not use them unless some emergency arises in the future?

  • i guess 4000 already been claimed?

    • nope, just got mine then, hasn't even been 1k clickthroughs yet

      • Brought another card.
        Prime day $100 for $110
        Black Friday $100 for $105 $90 for $105
Buying gift card becomes my favourite deals.
At least I can use them to buy toilet papers.

  • I did it twice, once to claim $5 and another to test if Zip would work again.. it did!

    • Just bought $500 gc got $50 back instantly. Hopefully they wont retract it tomorrow morning

      • Did you get 550 amazon credit for $450 on zip?

        • No, 500 for $450
$5 bonus should come after the black Friday sale, in line with the previous Prime day $10 bonus

  • $5 bonus per account or per $100 credit card?

    • +2

"Limit one promotional credit per Amazon.com.au account."

  • Just made the purchase but can't see the GC or the amount being debited from my ZIP account

    • same here. i got a screenshot of the congratulations $5 message before the order was placed.

    • Receive Gift card and also the credit on ZIP account.

Purchased 2 GC from different amazon accounts and same ZIP account. Confirm credits arrived. Will need to wait for the $5 bonus.
      Thanks OP.

  • Have just purchased a $100 gift card about 10 minutes ago. The gift card has not come in my email yet.
Does anyone know how long usually it takes for Amazon egift card to deliver please? Thanks

    • +1

I got it instantly. Bought about 10 minutes ago.

  • Thanks deneb.
I refreshed again after seeing your reply, and its there now. Cheers!

  • lol tried to get this and the next thing I get is

  • Not working anymore? When trying to apply code, getting "The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase"

    • Getting the same here.

  • +1

Anyone having the issue: Your account is on hold

    • Yes see above

  • How could I use this $10 dollar?
Is it in zip account and do I need to withdraw it?

    • It costs $100 for the gift card. They give you a $10 credit almost instantly. You then owe $90, no need to withdraw.

  • Getting "The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase" even when not paying with ZIP.

  • i worked out where to enter the code in app at the end of check out a field appears. also noticed that there's a $10 offer for using mobile app. when and how do i receive both the $5 and $10?

  • Zip still working at 6AM, though took 20 minutes for it to go through.

  • not using zip: The promotional code you entered is not valid.

    • Worked for me just now, on final checkout screen after entering promo code it says: "Congratulations. Your purchase qualifies you for a $5 promotional credit. You will receive an email confirming when the credit has been automatically applied to your account within 4 business days after your order is shipped (for physical gift cards) or the order being completed (for electronic gift cards)."

    • this is zip deal, you have to use zip

  • 6:59 am, still working with zip

  • 7 am, still working with Zip. For those that have this error: The promotional code you entered is not valid, try to use Desktop PC.

  • So disregarding the Zip Pay for the moment we have 4.76% vs the 3% at Suncorp. Then we have product limitations with the credit. Then the purchase with the credit invalidates any cashback. Pass.

    • I don't think the bit about the credit invalidating any cashback is correct. Here's what it says on the cashrewards Amazon store page (and I assume shopback is similar) :

Purchases paid with gift cards are eligible for cashback.

When using a valid coupon code or Amazon credit (applicable only on items sold by Amazon AU), cashback is calculated on the net amount after the value of the coupon code or credit has been deducted.

So I read that as a) you can get cashback with the $100 credit, and b) when you use the $5 promo credit, they will just deduct it from the item's cost, e.g. buy a $50 item, use $5 promo credit, they you get a cashback as if you bought a $45 item.

That's all okay isn't it? I don't have any major issues with it.

  • How long till everyone is getting the “$5 confirmation email”?

It said the code was accepted and applied at the checkout but I have no other confirmation at this stage

    • The $5 credit will be automatically applied to your account within 4 business days. You will get an email to confirm this credit has been applied.

      • thats for physical cards unless im wrong.

I did this at 7:20am - still waiting for the code

        • +2

If the code was accepted and applied at checkout, it can take up to 4 business days for the credit to be applied. This is for both physical and egiftcards. You will get a confirmation email.

    • I’m in the same boat 😐 got the ZIP cashback though

    • Basically after cyber monday deals!!

  • not working now

    • $5 not working? Or zip cashback not working

  • zip still working at 8:30am

    • +4

Wondering will zip just charge 10 back when they find this?

  • +1

purchased $100 gift card and received the $10 zip cashback instantly
bought it and then read the comments, OP didn't mention the best way to do it:
    1. new user signup using Zip referral - get referral credit
    2. use cashback such as shopback/cashrewards

now after the $100 purchases, I wonder if I buy more stuff on Amazon using ZipPay, do I still qualify for the 10% discount (capped at $50-$10 I received)?
    if yes, that's great
if no, OP should mention this in the post, some people might want $500 instead of $100 giftcard :(

    • +2

Multiple transactions / credits allowed upto $50 credit ($500 purchase)

      • thanks :)

  • Cash rewards on giftcard??

  • Confirming the 10% off with Zip still working as at 12pm. Bought $500 worth.

    • Did you use the one Amazon account to buy all $500 worth?

  • Code not taking. Wonder if it's dead?

    • The code worked when I ordered about 20 minutes ago, gift card received just then, applied giftcard to my account, but no sign of the 5 dollar yet.

      • Just tried wife's account, works.

Mine worked initially but now doesn't for whatever reason, never placed the order.

    • Yeah was awkward. Still.. $90 for a $100 card not bad
Havent got the $5 bonus yet.. The screen was like this instead of the code being activated. https://prnt.sc/vqyeyb

  • zip pay shows nothing yet? I just purchased right now.

  • being charged $100 on zip instead of $90 .. ..

edit.. nevermind, i saw the $10 credit on zip account

  • 5:15pm still works!

    • did you get the $5 bonus?

      • Not sure yet, afk but it wouldn't accept the code otherwise right?

  • Code GIFTCARD5 didn’t work for me…I emailed customer service and asked them why the code didn’t work and they said they didn’t know why it wasn’t working. But they could add the $5 manually to my Amazon account so I bought the $100 gift card and sent them a screenshot of the error.

I have the $5 sitting in my Amazon account now. And also got the zip pay $10.

    • I'm gonna ask customer service too. They've been saying they have technical issues this afternoon…

      • Customer service response:

        Greetings!

I've reviewed your email and understand it's with reference to the previous conversation regarding the $5.00 promo on your account.

Thank you for sharing with us the screen-shot of the error notification.

I've issued a $5.00 promotional certificate to your Amazon AU account, which will automatically apply the next time you order an eligible item sold by Amazon Au and shipped by Amazon Au.

        • +1

Was using the chat option lol. They've forwarded to the promotional team to ensure the refund of $5 :)

          • @SEasternCry: Cos they manually add the $5 to my account the $5 also automatically added so I got $10 in total…😃

  • how many $100 amazon gift cards can we get 10% discount on?

    • 500 face value

  • I know it says up to 4 days, but I'm wondering if anyone has got their $5 credit yet? Purchased and received the egift card about 4 hours ago, hoping to buy something today or tomorrow.

    • +1
