Well done aussman, you've used everything available to ozbargainers to bring the price down!!

  • Looks like a good deal. Anyone knows something about this TV?

Some discussion here may be of interest to you. Posted yesterday:

Had this TV for a while now and find it very good. We tend to watch doco's off the hard drive (500GB) via the USB and compressed file display quality is great. The theatre mode goes some way to addressing the faults compressed audio (i.e music too loud for voices too soft).
I find in general the program info is done very well. Some video format codecs aren't playable via the USB (.mkv for example) but that just means converting hard to find films (like Rustlers Rhapsody) to .avi

  • That's a lot of TV for the money. I wonder though if you could just apply this to anything with a competitive price in the $250 range to make it a "bargain". Are the vouchers & MBC reusable?
EDIT: appears paypal is one use, not sure about others

  • Don't forget there is a $10 Annual fee for Money Back If you haven't already paid.

or you can use buckscoop.com.au for the 3% cashback, they do not have an annual fee.

  • NVM.. mistake

  • how does one get this: 3.5% moneybackco = $13.93

  • Paypal fails to complete transaction for me :\ But good work on this.

Thanks for the deal. Just showed JB Hifi the ozbargain page showing $339 and he went to check with his manager. Done deal at $339 and offered extended warranty at $61 for extra 4 years.
So all up $400 for 5 years warranty. :)

    • Dang man, nice work!

    • wow the guy I had at harvey norman gave me 2years warranty extra for $39.. I thought that was good.

      • +1

Sometimes they won't budge on extended warranty you purchase. It depends on the rep and the store. I really must increase my bartering XP because I'm not very good at face negotiations.

    • RECEIPT scan please!!!!

      Edit: its below!

  • yuhank can you post a photo of the receipt please?

    • Took a pic of the receipt on my phone. How do I post a pic here? Newbie here.

Well done, you even beat the previous price by 7 cents! This is the new low price!!

      • Obviously deserves a new post, people need to know of this.

        • @yuhank, good one mate. Instant sale with no wait for Paypal.

For anything less than $1000, I wouldn't bother with extended warranty though, but it's your choice.

@alzori, pricematch is not consider a deal here. OK to remind people of a pricematch - or better open in a forum and point it there.

          http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:deal_posting_guideline…

        • +1

If you can get it for this price at JB with a simple price match and circumvent all these tricky coupons and add-on discounts then that is too easy. Well done.

    • love that shit!!!!!! taking this into JB tomorrow. Thanks!

new PC monitor here we come!!!

  • Wow! You have really pulled out the whole arsenal of Ozbargain's weaponry to completely destroy DSE with this amazing deal!

  • There wasn't much haggling. Just said look at this deal on the iphone, he didn't even look at detail, just the title $339 in DSE.
Went away for a minute, and back to say ok for 339.
In and out in 5 mins.

    • Usually it is a reluctant hard sell when they price match.
You inform the attendant about the lower price of product X who thinks about it and considers the validity of it, then he is unsure so he calls the manager, who in turn looks at your 'evidence' sceptically and gives you a serious look. Finally after a few more minutes of putting your case forward, arguing your point and stating the facts the manager will concede to match the advertised price of their competitor. Makes for some very tense shopping experiences.

    • Picked one up at Harveys for $339 - Great Geal and happy…
now for the wall bracket. Anyone know some good deal?

  • Awesome deal. $339 for a 32" Sony FullHD TV. 2 months ago, you'd get a budget/no-name brand for this price.
    So tempting…

  • I heard on the grape vine that 8 or 9th of dec staff discount goes up to 10% at DSE. That means if your family member(s) work at Woolies, Bigw, DSE, BWS, Servo, whatever that is owned by the parent company then it may be of use.

If anyone has more info please post it.

  • Just tried at jb hi fi At fountain gate, wouldn't do it. Just flat out said they wouldn't do it at that price. Even showed them the receipt posted higher up.

    • Same here, though I tried their Merrylands store. They settled for $390, which I am more than happy with.

      • Same at Bing Lee. Wouldn't go any lower than $370.

How's this - DSE Alice Springs refused to do price. Unit still had $499 on it. When I told the guy it was on special he went away and came back telling me I was confused and that only the HD model was discounted. I had to show him on my phone that it was the Full HD unit. Went away again then told me it must be a special that started today. I then showed him this thread and he went away only to come back saying there are no promotions other than free delivery and that the promotional codes being from a "Third Party Website" were bogus. I told him not to worry about it and that I would order online.
Got onto DSE Online Support to see if I could place an order online for delivery of the unit but pick it up in store (as website won’t let me click & collect) but the answer was no. Stupid buggers - now DSE have to courier the thing to me at their expense (even though there was a unit in stock & 1 on display at my local store). Would have loved to walk in there and lay the Click & Collect sheet on the counter with the price they wouldn't give me on it. Hazard a guess they still have the $499- price attached to the thing (Staff Xmas drinks anyone????)

    • I tried that at DS store in Sydney as well. The sales guy knew about the Xmas and Paypal deals but wouldn't go lower than $365. I told him that if I sit at home and have it deliver to my door for only $353 so why should I pay for more in store. He just couldn't answer that.

Just don't understand the business logic with DSE!

      • To be honest if they had offered it to me for $365- I would have taken it today but as I said they just weren't interested in selling it to me and really didn't know what they were doing. Anyway, I really hope others don't have the run-around I had this morning. Far easier to just order online and get the thing delivered.

        • I got down to $360 but the guy couldn't find stock left!!

      • The freight cost is completely tax deductible for them so they aren't all that concerned. Not having price synergy between online and in-store prices is a bit confusing for the consumer though.

      • I suspect it's because the majority of people who walk in to the store to buy are not absolute bargain hunters from OzBargain, and so they will actually sell them at the higher price in the near future.

Whereas online shoppers are often price-shoppers and thus DSE online has to be competitive.

  • So, when I ordered online it included an 8 socket surge protector board as well as a HDMI cable and cleaning kit, but those weren't included in the free delivery so had to pay $9.95 to get them delivered.

Is that what it's doing for everyone else? I also got the warning about the promotion being non-stackable and the lower one removed (going through StartHere/Moneybackco). Anyway, ordered now.

      You bought the 720p model

      • Lol, ok. I'll call tomorrow to cancel (looking on the site the online sales team is open from 10am to 2pm tomorrow for Christmas Shopping Hours). Hopefully it'll go through before it's shipped, otherwise I'll have to return it.

I might head into JB tomorrow instead seeing as others have been successful. Wouldn't hurt to grab the 4 year warranty too.

        Thanks for the heads up.

  • He was willing to do me $339 even if i didn't want the warranty. Guess it was a quiet Fri arvo. Depends on the sales guy too.

    • No good at JB - refusing to do it .

  • +1

JB Midland (WA) wouldn't do it without the warranty. I got it for $400 including the warranty. Good deal. Thanks OP and yuhank for the receipt.

    • same - i ended up getting it with 4 years EXTRA warranty for $400. Great deal!

  • Ordered online through MBC with the coupon and went to clikc&collect (did not want to wait for a delivery so missed the paypal bonus). Price $373 less hopefully $12+ MBC. The guys in the store (Ingle Farm, SA) said they were puzzled how I was able to hack it down to $373 (they had no idea of the Xmas voucher).

  • For those of us that ordered online, hopefully DSE go through smoothly with the delivery and don't cancel last minute or anything if they feel $339 was too low lol.

What's the chances of getting it on Monday guys? I ordered on Friday…bris metro area…

    • the JB Hi Fi HQ Artarmon were happy to match the 339 for tv and 61 for 4yrs warranty…just in case anyone wants the warranty…w/o warranty wud do 390…i ended up ordering online at DSE for 353 !

  • Hey for those that have this TV — is there a longer than usual delay (e.g. 3-4 seconds) to change channels?

    • +1

Changing channels are really fast. I was surprised. Only thing is not much functionality over favourites list,

    • how are u changing channel? typing in the number, or using channel up/down? typing in number has delay on most channels to make sure you're finished typing the number (e.g. 99 vs 9)

  • Does MoneyBackCo definitely work with the Click n Collect option at DSE?

  • Guys, this deal has expired. No delivery option (only store pickup) hence no Paypal cashback, and the Xmas code not recognised anymore. Congratulation to all who got in early and scored the bargain.

I managed to get the local Bing Lee store to drop to $360. Going there to pickup one now.

    • The xmas code still works but you can't pay with paypal with Click and Collect, so that bonus $20 is not available. I am unsure if MoneyBackCo would work with the Click and Collect option either.

    • if u leave an item in the cart with xmas code you might find it unapplied the next day, but re-adding it seems to work

  • +1

Got this TV and using it as a monitor. I have U3011 on another PC and I can tell you one thing, it is comparable, even though at 1/2 the pixels. I sit about 2 feet away from the TV (huge desk).

This TV blows the U3011 price point wise - $373 (DSE Pickup + XMAS) vs $1199.

  • I am looking for a Blu-ray player to accompany it.
Don't know too much on what to look for so all suggestions are welcome.
    Thanks in advance!!

  • Guys,
I ordered(Online) on last friday with Dicksmith and today I called them and they told that it is outof stock.

Please let me know whereelse I can get it around $340 dollar. Thanks

  • Is anyone able to post a receipt for this TV near the $340 price? Just for the TV alone, no warranty?

  • +1

No luck at JB Macarthur, as soon as he heard Ozbargain he said flat out they don't match online prices. Also asked what their best price for a 32" Soniq and because it's there inhouse brand he refused to even offer a better price, he wasn't exactly doing much to entice a sale and thing is if he'd cut $20 or $30 off he would of had sale then & there, i had just taken $400 from the ATM with the aim of buying. This guy did not make me want to buy at JB.

  • +2

Same at parramatta jb. rather buy online than deal with the nubs that work there.

    • I ended up calling the number on the bing lee website and got the Sony for $370 and just picked it up now…JB can go jump in the lake.

  • How's This - I previously posted that DSE Alice Springs wanted $499- for the unit & reluctantly would only go to $398 when I showed them the DSE website on my phone. That was Saturday. Today, 4 days after I brought it to their attention that the unit is on sale for $398-, they still have the thing on display for $499-.
I stand by my opinion that these guys are going for $101- commission….
Anyway off to Harvey Norman I go from now on.

    • Yeah Dicko's was like that at macarthur too…made me wonder what price would be charged at the register.

  • you can go to JB hifi kensington and get for $400 including 4 years extra warranty to become 5 years warranty. Not sure what to do with the tv after those years anyway….

  • You may need to try the voucher a couple of times to get it to work.

  • Thanks OP and commenters. Picked up one for Mum at JBHIFI Tuggerah for $399 with the additional 4 year warranty.

  • Thanks, yuhank, for the receipt copy, excellent work. Here's another receipt from JB HI-FI in Sydney today, I hope it helps others as yuhank helped me

    http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/2782/receiptg.jpg

  • BTW, I was wondering if the TV would make a good computer monitor. It certainly does, IMHO, with 1920 x 1080 resolution. It can do VGA or HDMI connection to the PC, and HDMI is slightly clearer I believe.

With HDMI using the default settings the PC "desktop" does not quite fit within the TV screen. To fix:
Settings, Display, Screen, Auto Display Area: Off

  • just picked one of these bad boys up today with ENTROPY's receipt ( thanks champ!). the salesman @JB Sydney westfield took a quick look at the receipt and matched it for $311 TV + $89 ext 4 years warranty.

thinking of picking another one up for my room now.

Entropy: i am currently using this as a secondary monitor with my macbook pro and at 1080P it works great! haven't tried games yet but i bet it would be fine.
also got my PS3 and xbox connected via hdmi for easy switching too :)

  • Guys, has anyone received their $20 from paypal yet? I'm still waiting…
